Edit: Ive been trying to do some Boss Battle stuff, and Taboo's "Shock Wave" Attack keeps instant killing me. The one were he spreads out his wings and shit. Anyone know how to dodge it?

Damn Emblem, your Marth is too damn good. I was wondering why you were spamming side-b combos so much, until after the matches I went into training. . .and that shit is pretty good. High priority, unblockable after the first hit, hard to DI out of...which REALLY wasn't the case in Melee.

I need to seriously get better at this game. I didn't realize Marth was this good. :rofl:

Has anybody noticed that Nair attacks for some characters seem to have no lag? (Ike and Lucario for example). Maybe we should try and test out how many have benefits from this.

It might be intentionally programmed into the game.

So I finally beat SSE last night & I'm @ 85%. Some of those dot thingers on the map don't have flags on them. Does this mean I'm missing something in that area?

Ah, I finally bought Brawl today. No Wii, though. Both places that had em' today sold them before I could get my hands on them. No big shocker, though. Hopefully, i'll have better luck tomorrow.

Also, a question to those who may know. Currently, my type of wifi(or router, I guess) isn't accepted by Nintendo's wifi connection. Is it possible to play online on the Wii using a wired connection? That may have to do until I can buy a supported router.

Well, although I don't actually own Brawl, I was still lucky enough to play it at a friends for the first time last night, along with 3 other friends, which was cool.

I gotta say though that it was better than I expected, maybe its just the combo of new chars, items and mechanics but it definitely rocked.

But damn, New Pork City is too big! My friend's Snake had a field day with the mines he placed everywhere. The 3-piece ship item one-hit KO-ing got to me and smash ball was pure win(Lucas and Sonic's FS especially).

Overall, I had fun and I now understand what all the hype was about.

I think I'm the only person who's ever used Zelda in Basic Brawl.

Most frequent Basic Brawl characters:

1. Pit (AYAYAYAYAYAYA!!!!!!! x ∞)
2. Meta Knight (SHWSHWSHWSHWSHW!!!! x ∞)
3. Ike (AETHER! AETHER! AETHER! HUUAAAAAA!!! x ∞)

Rinse, repeat.

Some times I'll see Sonic, but you're guaranteed to see at least one of the top three in your game.

Don't want to look stupid, but I have a question: Is there a reason why Smashboards is looked down upon here (quite a lot, actually)? I know they have contrary viewpoints of how the game should be played (they banned most things outright I believed in order to emulate Melee's style, while we are experimenting with things like items and non-neutral stages), and some of their threads are pointless and stupid, but is there a more in-depth reason why?

btw, they are already trying to make a metagame for Brawl already, although it's probably way too early.

EDIT: Apparently the place is struggling right now with absurd amount of spammers/trolls. Said in a thread over there by some dude called Crystallion. Now it makes much more sense.

You're thinking of Edgehogging which is really, really hard to do in Brawl, except against a few select characters (Teleporters who's up-b does no damage, tether recoveries). Between the decrease in invincible ledge time, the much shorted 'hog' window (you no longer count as 'on the edge' when doing your ledge attack/ledge roll.) and much better sweetspotting on most recoveries, it's really really hard to edgehog.

Ironically enough, the best ledgehoggers are the characters most hurt by it- tether recoverers. Basically, you have two invincible windows in a tether recoverery- one when you tether grab the edge, and a second when you pull yourself up. Since tethers now count as someone grabbing the edge, they'll block other edge-grabs. For most noticeable results, try the Ice Climbers- the tether pull is automatic, but the Climber who grabs the edge is invincible the entire time they're pulling up the other one.

Eh. C-stick isn't as useful in this game since you will fast fall when you dair anyway.

You can't; the Wii saves them as .BIN format. It'll be in a folder on the SD card, and you can transfer them, and even convert the pics (check smashboards for that), but video convesion hasn't happened yet.

From what I've seen, it only happens on shadow moses, during taunts or normal gameplay. It's random, and eventually you'll get a Call on your Codedc. You press start, and then it just plays.

ok so I don't know if anyone figured this out but if you press one of the shield buttons when your on the ledge you will roll forward once you get up from the ledge...

don't know if this is common knowledge but I didn't know....

Been there since Smash 64. It worked better in Melee since your opponent couldn't grab the ledge when you do a ledge roll. Weird glitch made it so the game still counts you as holding the ledge during the roll. They fixed this in Brawl, for better or worse...

only online, you have to set it up in your friends list. you can set four custom taunts, even though left and right do the same regular taunt.
