View Full Version : Will YOUR Local Arcade Purchase SFIV cabinet?

Roshihikari

Many of Japan's arcades would probably purchase SFIV not too long after it's released. How about your closest arcade in whatever country you are in? Would they be able to afford it? Would there be enough people who would go and play to cover for the cost???
How long do you think it will take until they get the cabinet? 1 year after the release? 1 month?

Our local arcade just got in two Tekken 6 machines; I severely doubt they won't get SF4.

They'd fuckin' better, as they're not replacing the recently burnt-out 3rd Strike board.

they say they are but i don't really see it happening. then again they got a GG:AC machine out of the blue so who knows. they've gotten into the habit of making cabinets out of consoles (we have a GH III "cabinet" and a SSBB "cabinet") so i could see them doing that.

They're telling us here that if it's near the same popularity as Tekken has been, that they will get it. Here's to hoping -

Yeah Dood 120%

:wonder: I'm pretty sure we'd get it. We have three arcades here and two of them are new. Our older one has all the fighting games but the two new ones will be looking for newer games as they come out so they'd probably get it... dood!

i wonder if dave and busters would get SF4. they seem to get all the new stuff when it comes out (time crisis 4, house of the dead 4) but those are the more casual games. it'd be awesome if they did though since thats a fairly big arcade franchise.

Last time I went to a DnB, I saw DDR Supernova, and a shitload of shooters, like HotD

I live near Castle Park in Sherman Oaks, CA and I know they won't get SF4 ; the fighting games they do have are all fucked up anyway and they just don't care for taking care of their machines. FFA will probably get it though; that and KOF '98: UM and the new Samurai Showdown...they better dammit if they want 2 make any money!

I think it's possible actually. Not like they're about the fighters but it's something brand new and flashy, nice HD screen to impress onlookers lol. Here's to hoping on that too. And here's to hoping it's not like a buck a play if they do get it haha.

No way, but i can hope that they buy just the PCB kit (you know, w/o cabinet) and put it in some of theirs like those big ass big screen cabs.

What is this thing you call "local arcade"?

heh, nah, but i all seriousness, my arcade did get the latest Initial D game and the the newest DDR and IIDX beatmania cabinets so they are getting new machines, but I'm not sure how they feel about fighting games...

I'm hoping though...

We have one main arcade in Christchurch New Zealand for fighting games

The guy working there said it's likely they'll get it.

The got 4 Tekken 6 machines and will send some back after the hype dies down. Maybe they'll replace em' with SF4 cabs!

I think one cab would be enough for the demand here though.

My local arcade said they were interested and may get it especially with the T6 situation.

I'm almost positive the GameWorks in Seattle is going to get it. They got most of the Lindbergh games like really close to when they were first released, so thats my best bet.

Is this at Planet Zero? I haven't been there since the last regional tournament. I would definitely make another trip down there just to check it out sometime.

My local arcade is FFA (6 hours away, and just kidding) So the question is, Arlieth, are you getting SF4?

Chachi
03-18-2008, 12:32 AM
Dave and Buster's looks like a good candidate to get it (the four-cab setup looks to be just gaudy enought to get their attention). The Powerplay arcade might get it if enough people get in the management's ear, they've been known to drop shitloads of money on random shit...

03-18-2008, 12:45 AM
Yes, hell, my local arcade already bought 2 head-to-head cabs of Tekken 6, and the arcade near my work bought 8 cabs of Gundam vs Gundam.

Gundam vs Gundam is too fucking awesome.

Though it would be cool if my shitty local arcade got it, if the online play for the PS3 is good, I could careless.

If it sucks then I'll be moving out to an apartment near a local arcade that gets SF4.

Players in MD have forgotten what an arcade is long ago...and as far as I know--I don't see anyone in the area buying it, really. Most will just wait for a console release.

Awesome, I'll check Tekken 6 out sometime. This means that we have a great chance of getting a SF4 cabinet.

At first I thought yes, but then I heard not. I guess the $50,000 price tag was a tad too steep.

Still hope they get it though.

My local arcade would rather purchase those machines that push tokens to the edge of the machine that almost fall off over getting SF4, so probably not.:shake:

My local arcade is a pathetic joke and has sold out and entered "Ticket Redemption Center" status. They don't even have a fighting game, and the most recent game they got was Hydro Thunder. Before that it was another ticket game, and before that there was a long ass stretch of nothing. I know because I used to work for the cunts.

So nope, no SFIV arcade play for me, here's hoping the netcode is a superb.

Here in Santiago (capital of my country) there are just two good Arcade Centers, "Diana" and "Flipperin".

In Diana they put a form that you can write what games do you want to see on the local in, with some hope, middle of the year... but im starting to think that, by popular demand, only KOFXII and Tekken 6 will come, there isnt a ST scene here and 3s players are only interested in that game and dont give a shit about SFIV... or any other game.

In Flipperin there are chances, in November 2007 they got A LOT of new games like GG Accent Core, Melty Blood AC Ver.B, Tekken 5 DR and Soul Calibur 3 Arcade Edition... and also some titles that i never ever possible imagine that they coming to Chile, like Battle Fantasia and The Battles of Yu Yu Hakusho... so i can dream about it.

bolded for "fuck-u" emphasis to the ST players

Question... I heard that arcade operators who use H2H cabinets, such as Versus City, have to buy two sets of SF4 hardware even if it's being used to run a single SF4 (ie. two stations sharing it). Is this true? No other fighting game has been like that before. My first assumption is that it's because of the multi-cabinet matchmaking system the game supports, but can't arcade operators just not opt for that functionality?

I really hope so. There is a good collection of fighting games at the local arcade in Aurora, so the chance is there.
