This is a picture I stumbled upon while searching for Street Fighter Marquee's. It was posted on a blog about the life, art and culture of India.

It's a picture of an arcade in Dharavi, India. It looks like it's just two King of Fighters cabinets in a storage shed.

I would hate to be in the arcade and have some big kid shut the door.:shake:

The only arcade my town ever had, was full of jocks. Nuff said, our loved games attract bad people to them..

I've played on sticks like those before. They suck, to put it lightly. But even on those shitty sticks I bet some of those players are pretty damn good.

well i dont know where you're from, but yeah around 13 or 14 years ago you'd have some sort of machine EVERYWHERE, from cab offices chip shops newsagents, also you had your dingy small arcades full of rudeboys playing by there bizzare rules "NAH MAN NAH MAN NO THROWS BLUD"
" BLATENT SKANKS!" " YO ALLOW ME A ROUND" No AC no Sanwa no daigos no internet champs just a people that loved streetfighter and games in general, great days.

those sticks are not that bad actually, i've used alot worse, the only this wrong with that machine is that SHOCKING colour scheme

Ya those sticks are weird. They have the same type of arcade cabinets in Pakistan.

This is a picture of two guys playing KOF '97 in an arcade in Murree, Pakistan.

I assume the guys from Cyberfanatix play on the same bubblegum looking sticks and still manage to play beastly. Also they play with CRAZY button configuration like.

No I don't have any more and ya it's sad but to them it's probably the coolest place ever. I doubt they get to play many video games besides what's in that hole.

stomach is killing me.

The places in Islamabad and Rawalpindi had this config:

..D..
C..A
..B..

Unfortunately I got used to this :/. Some places C and A were switched. Same layout for Tekken.

Not sure what the cabs are like now, haven't checked out "real" arcades in years since the ones near me closed down. The shitty one (like three times the size of the ghetto Indian one with MAME cabs) near me had ShingoKick's config.

I find it awesome what people can get accustomed to for their gaming needs. This reminds me of people who won't go near certain sticks because they suddenly forget to play the game once they touch a different stick.

That's true.

That tiny storage shed in Dharavi, India probably has more King of Fighters comp then the whole Canadian prairies.

Oh man. This shit brings so much memories. Thanks. These kind of places that had random one or two cabinets were not uncommon. In the early 90s, where I grew up had tiny ass cabinets in front of grocery and stationary stores. Often times it was a type of emulator that let kids play SNES games for 5 minutes/100 south korean won(equals about 10cents). This kind of place was my first encounter with Power Instinct series, and Sam Sho.

ahaha that's funny and sad at the same time. those kids probably still love that shed though, more power to em. you gotta work with what you got.

They look happy, its an arcade, its not super dirty, or etc. I think its looks great, wish we had one here. Which in good old USA, theres none.

03-20-2008, 09:59 PM
That's pretty crazy, but I wouldn't mind if we even had something like that around my parts...there are no arcades around here anymore. Even pizza parlors don't have them sometimes.

As I said before I agree it's better than nothing but comparing it to ABSOLUTELY NOTHING isn't saying much.

I'm sure the State of Florida has something better than two hack KOF cabs in a tool shed.:wtf:

I keep saying this is not that rare. There are places like that even in the states. Doods don't know about swap meet cabinets and random d00ds who don't speak a sentence of English but will kick yo ass in kof97.

I would have to say the closest thing we have to a place like that is the arcades we have in mom and pop Hotdog and Burger places. Some of those places have crazy Frankincabs.

We have a restaurant called Great Burger that has a Street Fighter II: World Warrior cab painted with white house paint and it has Bust-A-Move in it with funky green ball top sticks.

For FFS/KoF, I'd me more comfortable with:
AC
BD

Reason for that is because it's a nice compact SF-styled layout. Maxing up is like a CC activation, and rolling/knockdown attacks are like throws in 3S.

Circular restrictors, like Bao Lian. Also, quality varies but the throw is huge >.<

That's the layout they've been using since 2003 actually.

But of course, the Atomiswave KOF games made that more popular.

They only don't know because those kinda places have extreme liability. Most meets get scrapped or shut down instantly, forcing lesser cabinets if any. The sticks are probably already fucked to begin with when they transfer certain machines there.
