Damn I love milk. 2% and lower is oddly thin, but whole has a buttery feel to it that I'm not always in the mood for.
What're your thoughts on milk?

I was just about to mention gas too, saying that I think milk is still slightly cheaper than it. But I'm not sure.
Anyway, yes, milk is great. I've drank 2% for such a long time that it's "standard" for me.

My theory on the raise in milk-prices is related to gasoline, actually.
Price of gas goes up, inspires ethanol-research; ethanol come mainly from corn, so corn-prices go up; cows are often feed corn, so higher corn-prices means cows are more expensive to maintain; to cover the cost of cow-maintenance, milk-prices rise.

I used to down cartons of milk as a kid, now I can't stand the taste. I need my calcium badly.:shake::sad:
Maybe the same reason I gave up on jello because I looked way to far into the ingredients? Who knows.

honestly, i was going to say something similar to this, but, i was tired. it seems like maybe inflation as a whole is being caused by the oil prices. milk's effects being an example of this

So few people in my day-to-day life noticed the cost of milk going up, that I never expected a SRKer to have brought this up before me. Cool! The word's definitely getting out there.
Is it just me, or has my reputation dropped even more over the course of this thread?

I'm actually a milk expert. I love it. Like...too much. It makes me get really fat, very quickly.
Milk is tasty. I know exactly what you mean by that unpleasant buttery taste to it. This is almost entirely due to problems in shipping. If you buy locally-made milk, this won't be a problem.

you dumbass, milk is higher because of the price of crude oil. the oil is used to make the plastic and just about everything else in this world. Price of oil goes up, everything else will follow.

Missile Launch, Netology is referring to the fact that--besides the additives that they dump into milk which ironically make it less nutritious--cow feed is typically laced with quite a few chemicals and hormones, all of which are suspect in doing lots of bad things to the human body. Google "milk bad" and you come up with quite a few articles.
Personally, milk is a kick-ass protein source that goes well with my high-protein cereal, and since I want to start building muscle, I'll be downing milk like no tomorrow. Milk is good stuff.

To clarify: Delicious titty breast milks straight from the titty helps a nigga get scrong bones. Don't know about cereal. I guess soy is fine.
Don't forget that not only do manufacturing costs go up (oil for those heavy machines in factories) it also has to be shipped. So when jet fuel goes up, so does air shipping costs. Obviously ground shipping costs rise as oil prices rises. And exponentiate the increase if it has to be shipped overseas.

Yeah, well when oil is at $110/barrel everything else will be bound to raise in price.
It's the corn. Somewhere, some idiot/s (probably republican, with major stock in corn or something) decided that even though corn produced far less sugar, they should use it for ethanol instead of fuckin' sugar cane. Now food products everywhere, including wheat (price went up due to rarity cuz now farmers get paid more to plant corn so that's mostly what they plant now) are costing more since somewhere along the line, corn went into them. Either as an ingredient or as feed for whatever animal it came from. This combined with gas prices is gonna lead to people going hungry in the next couple years or later.

I disagree. I notice a difference in taste, as texture is a big part of taste, it's not just flavor. Nonfat milk is like milk flavored water IMO.

Yeah, and people starve because of that too. What is funny is we can convert coal to diesel fuel for less in energy terms than it cost to raise and process ethanol and we have shitloads of coal.

Oh, oh, it is so fashionable to hate on the White House and/or the Fed for economic issues! The fact is that they've managed to stave off massive inflation, recession, and a massive drop in foreign investment while still making treasury bonds a worthwhile commodity. You can't blame anybody but the American public for what the real problem is; the simple unwillingness to buy any American-made goods.

This same person advocates the production and bottling of human milk for the general public.
