I'm usually glad to see new fighters out, but these doujin games get churned out almost as fast as hentai games and give you that same guilty feeling of lonliness after you play them.

As far as I know the game wasn't really that bad as far as the fun factor, but rather it was just fucking around until someone landed a hit and then GGPO for the other person.

Kind of like HnK is when I watch it played, but with shittier graphics.

That game had NO depth to it at all, and the patches fucked it really hard.

That was partially my fault. I went to loc tests and it was actually a lot of fun, so i was spreading the word, but after it came out and they didnt tweak it, and a ton of broke stuff was found, it lost all it's credibility. And then the patches, as people said, ended up screwing it up by changing around a ton of stuff randomly, and too quickly to adapt to it all the time.

And Folo is a dude, but i dont really care. Ill try him and Nobuko and whoever i like better ill use.

Doujin circle NRF who made BigBangBeat and had a internal conflict and broke into pieces, has announced the doujin 2D fighter Million KNights Vermilion and a trailer is available at their site. They’ve got some really good looking character dot art going on in there.

The character designs are by Sogabe Shuji who did Senko no Ronde.

But what really surprised me was that Tokyo Kids is working on the character animations. Because Tokyo Kids is a professional animation studio that has been around for many years and has worked on anime such as AYAKASHI and Gurren Lagann (though not as the main animators for Gurren)

The game is announced for the PC and is still a doujin game at this point, but it looks as if they’re prepared to push it all the way to the arcades with all these professionals working on it.

I think it was a fair early attempt. BBB was a pretty huge step ahead of Fate/Shitpile. Sure, it didn't get the gameplay right, and each patch exacerbated problems rather than addressing the core issues with the game but it still has me hopeful that this won't be, at the very least, a bad game.

BBB looked good, felt okay and had some pretty good music. Even though it faltered in the most important element, I'm still optimistic.

I like the victorian slant on the artwork. The character designs are a little hit or miss. I'll have to see more than just the senko-no-ronde-style "look at me pose" images before I cast my divine judgement.

BBB had super potential for a doujin, just like Meltyblood did back in the day. The difference being MB has continued to refine the game, whereas BBB just got fucking weirder with each patch.

Maybe this splintering for -NRF- could mean only the clever ones are left (and not the opposite?), and we'll see better game design. If they attempt to keep things balanced and actually address what playtesters find as problems, it could be the start of a cool thing. Who knows. At least I don't hate it, yet, and I hate most everything given enough time, so we'll see. =)

I think the most deformed aspect of character design these days is the formula of "outlandish = unique". I think the searching of "unique concepts" has gone to crazy lengths in the genre and this is a nice return to a more down-to-earth design.

Take Silvio (pic) (http://m-k-v.heteml.jp/image/silvio.jpg) for example. This guy's uniqueness lies in that he sports funky footwear. He isn't a robotic fucking aztec pope with crab claws and a belt sander mounted to his head. And you know what, I'm fucking glad! I think his "ignition abilities" will be what make or break him, not the amount of acid the designer dropped during the creation process.

Speaking of the abilities - the story speaks of some supernatural power, so I can see super fast 'boosts' (as seen in trailer), demonic energy claws and things of that nature. I'd be glad if it was more about that and less about attacks that involve satanic cardboard animals and burning sex toys. Hopefully the extent of comedic relief is at Nobuko's chibi crap, but knowing Japan - and the designers trying to actually sell the game to a wider audience - I wouldn't count on it.

I hope NRF learned from BBB and will listen to the players. They really need to, now that they're seriously investing in the game. This has the potential to rock - BBB was fun as hell until the flaws became apparent. You know it's true if you were there from the start.

I'm hopeful and curious about this title and it doesn't affect my stance on the other 2008 releases. I pity the fools who can't get over themselves to give a newcomer a chance.

After what happened to Big Bang Beat, I didn't think many people here would have any faith in Team NRF's next works unless they knew what really happened during the BBB fiasco.

Still though, with a lot of big name people & groups helping out for this game, I'm going to keep my fingers cross on this one.....I mean come on; so far they have the following helping with the project:

Yep, you've pretty much summed it up right there. The thing was that the guys who stayed with Team NRF also had the main programmer & creator of BBB with them and so the guys who took over the BBB project were rather f'ed up cause the programmer took the main source material of BBB with him and didn't give permission to the guys who formed the new group.

I'll try to get more detailed info on this matter.

The actual game looks way more solid than recent shit like Arcana Heart though. Big HD sprites + movement that doesn't look like it's underwater is promising.

The art is actually really good, some of the character designs from an American perspective aren't going to be recieved well but I don't mind them--although Folo....yeah. Not really sure what else I can say on Folo but I like the art and character designs. More than likely only 15 people in the US will play it collectively...so no matter how nice it looks or plays no one will play it because its anime...meh.
