Second snaking was not a glitch. At worst it was a bug and to top it off nintendo has know about it since mario kart 64 and intentionally left it it in multiple iterations of the game. Its not that hard to learn to do either its just not brain dead easy like say holding a button and pressing left and right. And from what ive read and seen on clips ive watched its still there but has been limited in many ways.

Lastly I did get my wish there is online battle mode, but its now retarded. Here is a section of that review covering battle mode.

So now I have to play with AI opponents even when im just playing at home with friends? No thanks I might as well just go play mario kart 64 for battle mode now.

It seems nintendos mindset seems to be that a player should never be able to have any real difference in skill between another player and if that naughty person does get to good lets stunt his performance with Ai opponents or randomization mechanics. Ugh i guess a nintendos babys cry is truly blood curdling.

I got the game and I think the wii-mote only controls are spot on (I played a LOT of excite truck, so making subtle movements is not new to me). Battle mode is shit, and the selection of classic tracks is mostly shit (why cant we just have ALL the classic track!? OR A TRACK EDITOR?!), but the online racing is VERY good.

I was a huge fan of mariokart on the snes. BUT then then screwed up the next few games with this computer assistance. Does it not annoy you guys that being good is punished in these games? Anyways, I heard that the cpu rubber bands bigtime in 150cc and of course you get hit with 1000 items in the last lap.

My question is, does this happen online as well? Surely they have finally included some option to turn off computer assistance, at least in multiplayer.

Well, typically if you are in last place, you get better items than you would if you were in first. So yeah, people in last get helped out with the items they get. Its like that for every mode, too.

the characters for the most part are similar but some increase useful traits. like funky kong increases speed by a fuckton. daisy increases boost speeds i think.

i am currently trying to beat the world record on snes mario curcuit 3. its 1:19:xx. it was set by daisy on a mach bike. does anybody know if there is a faster character than that? the fastest i can go with daisy on a mach bike is 2:01:xx. and my fast lap with 1 shroom is still set with a bullet bike with baby daisy. does anybody know if its possible to use a small bike to set the record?

What defines your tiers as far as stages? Less Randomness? Fairness? I mean, cuz my favs are the Daisy Circuit and the SNES level with the colored blocks.

Also, could someone explain to me the best time to wheelie? I haven't really noticed any speed increase that I could measure, I usually do it like this (with the mach bike/peach):
Speed boost from the start, then pop into wheelie position, pop into the slide position for the turn, speed boost, start the wheelie when the boost ends, repeat. If someone is about to bump me, I tap the slide button. Is that the best way to handle the wheelie technique?

are you talking about mario circuit 3? if so you want to pop a wheelie anytime you are going straight. and always right after you get your speed boost out of a turn.

Summary:
Funky Kong on Bowser Bike or Daisy on Mach Bike are top. Basically Funky on Bowser has higher speed but Daisy has better mini turbo. So a course with more turns favors daisy, while more straight away favor Funky. Baby Daisy on Bullet is 3rd after them. Some people will say Funky on Spear is top. With this combo, it has the highest speed in the game. However, this combo is only good on like 5 courses in the game. The spear has terrible turning.

Karts are useless.

Stats with off-road are useless too.

Some people will bash Funky and Daisy combos because of their bad accelerations. Here's a tip if you don't know by now. You can hold down A+B for a 'standstill' miniturbo. Example, I got daisy on mach, I get hit by a blue shell, so I hold down A+B till I get the blue flash and boom I recover better than just holding down the gas.

You can trick out of the Pow block, when you see/hear the second pow sound, just mash the trick button.

Yeah when you trick out of it you maintain your speed, I dunno what you saw prolly a high acceleration vehicle or some lag. It is not the A+B boost because just like I said you maintain your speed when you trick out of it.

Nintendo is deleting Time Trial records that use the GV shortcut in the very beginning, but they never deleted the record with the shortcut mid way through the level. Thoughts?

Sup peeps I beat out afew blue shells today but it was with mushrooms is there a way to do it without a item? Also as far bikes go I've been messing with the flame Runner for about an hour and THIS SHIT IS FIRE SON (no pun) easy top 5 of bikes and wario chopper is up there in the top 5 also.

The ONLY way to avoid Spiny Shells is with a timley mushroom boost you can't mini-turbo away like before.

I'm starting to think Funky is S Class I mean EVERY WR is him X_X oh yeah and I found out how people "trick" outta POW blocks with no speed loss. RIGHT before the POW block explodes do a 360 motion on your D-pad and you should see a mini blue twister-like object appear under you if you did it right. You will lose almost NO(or not lose any) speed but you'll lose your items still.

Another tip IF you don't know, dodging redshells, works on straightways, if you hear/see a redshell coming turn sharply toward the edge/wall/track border. The red shell for some reason will try to beat you to the spot, and crash into the wall. Of course best attempted if you do not have an item out to protect you.

I'm starting to think Funky is S Class I mean EVERY WR is him X_X oh yeah and I found out how people "trick" outta POW blocks with no speed loss. RIGHT before the POW block explodes do a 360 motion on your D-pad and you should see a mini blue twister-like object appear under you if you did it right. You will lose almost NO(or not lose any) speed but you'll lose your items still.

Or if you're on Wiimote/'chuk, just wiggle the Wiimote like you would do a trick off a jump. You'll spin out and lose your item, but you won't lose your speed.

Automatic is inferior to Manual. The only pro I see with automatic is that you can partition your drift faster than in manual. But no mini turbo, and no turning while wheeling is no good.

It's the game masking lag. While you play, the game predicts where players will be and corrects it whenever data is received. The results are determined by a compiled list of actual race times taken from each player. They look like they finished behind you, but the actual time it took them to finish is lower than yours.

I used to play Mario + Mach Bike. Recently my wife started playing this, and plays Peach on the Mach Bike. Maybe I'm just imagining this, but whenever she's in second place the chances of getting a mushroom are much higher than when you play with any other character.

If you're in first you most likley get Banans and Green Shells with the occasional Fake Item. 2nd Place people get better items(Red Shells Triple Green Shells).

as for the comment about the automatic vehicles Funky Kong- Jetsetter on Automatic will beat majority of people online. This works better than Manual for me because it has better turning on Auto and the boosts you would normally get for manual suck anyways.

I agree...somewhat. We were playing around with this bug when DARKHOKAGE saw my character-switching shenanigans. Sadly, just like the Grumble Volcano and Mushroom Gorge bugs, nothing will be done about this. Although cheaters who suck at the game will never really be playing it, since they have to disconnect every time to keep their points, it's pointless to play online now. There is still time trials, where unless it's Grumble Volcano or Mushroom Gorge, we can still compete in a fair manner.

Yeah I recently started using "small" characters.(Dry Bones, Baby Daisy) on the Bullet Bike and Magikruiser and they are fucking FAST, but they get knocked around like ragdolls.

So the game has been hacked, pretty extensively. People are posting impossible records in time trials with a ghost that just drives off a cliff or into a wall and sits there...forever. In online races, someone called "The Evil" will just hit you with infinite red shells and bombs and then use infinite stars to untouchably finish first with a ridiculous lead. Fun times.

Sometimes I think the game thinks of new and more fucked up ways to screw you over. Be prepared, I'm going to bitch...

I was at Grumble Volcano and a green shell pretty much out of nowhere (I didn't even hear any noise) hits me as I'm about to jump off a little ramp. The timing of the shell was so amazing. Instead of stopping before the jump or having my momentum carry me to the other platform, I roll into the lava. As I get back onto the track and do the jump over again, somebody used lightning and I FALL INTO THE LAVA AGAIN.

I guess part of the game is seeing how ridiculous some of the things are. Like the computer POWing you right after you get inked so you can't see the POW floating over your head. WTF is that shit?

Once the race started like EVERYBODY got hit with a Spiny Shell, I don't even think the hacking guy won to boot XD People would just wait for him to get into first and just OBLITERATE him with Red Shells(There was only 6 of us). The 2nd time the guy gave himself a Cloud from the get-go and fucked up EVERYBODY except me cause I managed to escape the chaos and gain SOME kind of lead before I was raped by Spiny shells, this guy could LITERALLY just give himself invincibility....gay I know =/ His name was TRYANDHITME! From what I've heard, people have a cheat device in the SD card slot. This allows them to use preprogrammed items whenever they want. I've seen it go from a person just throwing endless fake item blocks to mess with me to a person who is bullet bill or invincible the whole race. They also use it to post world record times of a couple tenths of a second for the whole race, while the ghost you end up downloading just drives into a wall and sits there indefinitely. Fun times.

I am starting to wonder if there is a glitch that give certain people the shrinking lightning cloud every race or at least 90% of them because i always get it more I even recalled a few races where I got it 2 or 3 times in a row after passing it off onto someone else or so on. By the way how do I know if I have been hacked into and given nasty surprises like what you guys always talk about. I can fully understand if I am just cursed with bad luck but getting it just about every race could something thing be causing it?

You'll know if someone is hacking... i don't think they can hack into yours and cause you to get certain items ie. clouds but if somebody is in first place and uses a bullet it shouldn't last for more than one second or so... If you've ever noticed that when you use a bullet it last longer depending on how far back you are from other racers.

So I happened to race someone in here who had a Mii of Iron Man and I believe raced with Baby Daisy on the Bullet Bike Saturday. I only raced 1-2 races, and disconnected the last one because I had to do something.

I won't lie, I was pretty far behind, but then again, whoever you were, I want you to know I seriously hate BIKE USERS :rofl:

I want a rematch with you, either both of us playing bikes or you need to pick a kart. :arazz:

Wow. I love how I crash into random walls and fall off the cliff, go into grass! That Daisy (I think) was crazy! Are bikes better in this game? I don't like to pick bikes in MarioKART.

Karts are garbage in MKW, sadly. Not a single kart in the game drifts inwards like the good bikes.

Karts don't drift inward, but that's not the advantage to playing with them. I play with karts for their weight. Bikes are unfair compared to karts anyways.


Not to mention if I have the opportunity, I ram any other players for positioning, which normally results in them falling off the level, going off road, or ramming a bike player mid wheelie, which usually stops them dead in their tracks and they come to almost a stand still.

I normally use Bowser Jr on the Super Blooper or Dry Bowser on the Jetsetter.

IMO, Karts users are the epitome of what I'd respect from a decent player. They are much harder to control. Some aren't as fast as bikes. However, I despise top tier whores in all games. Which means in this game, I HATE playing against the random heavy character using the Flame Runner, or Daisy/Mid size Mii on the Dolphin Dasher or whatever bike it is that is top tier for mid size characters. That also goes for the small characters using the Bullet Bike.

How often is it that you see a 8500+ Kart user online? It's rare. Almost impossible to see them. Why? Because it takes real skill to play with a kart, and not get by based on the unfairness of a bike. With that said, I hate playing with bike. It's too easy to win sometimes.

The only combination I think is broken (against other good bikes) is Funky + Flame Runner. I consider myself good yet sometimes when a decent Funky player gets ahead by a couple seconds, I might never see them again the rest of the match.

You can try starting out with the Star bike. It slides a lot like a car. That's what I started using and then switched to Flame Runner.

I can't go online on my Wii - it's modded. I would love to play online, but can't. And it sucks. But it's a small drawback to the awesome awesome amount of games I can play.
