View Full Version : I think my AIM got hacked, which is not cool.

I'm assuming it did because I have a few AIM screen names but the one I use for people over XBL and various forums and stuff, I can't log into and haven't been able to for a few hours. Every single time I go to log into this one particular AIM screen name it says connection timed out. Now, it's not really a big deal since it's just for people I know online but it's still lame as hell. Who takes the time to hack an AIM screen name?

Hell, maybe I didn't get hacked and I'm just being dumb. Anyone have any sort of experience with something like this?

Why don't you sign onto another one of your screennames and see if someone's actually signing on as you?

I didn't even think about that, thanks for the idea man.

EDIT: I asked some people and they said I haven't been on in hours. So I'm wondering what is going on. Maybe it's just being weird for me or something. So I signed in on another AIM and no one was on it. Now I'm getting ticked!

:shake: No, but I'm lazy and I don't want to have to re-ad all of those people. Besides I've had that AIM for as far back as I can remember.

Periodically back up your buddylist. It saves itself as like a 5kb data file that you can copy into new screennames. So just incase you do get "hacked" or lose/forget your password, you still have a fairly recent copy of your buddylist that you can work with. If you're at home browsing the web or something and find there's nothing of interest, just be lik "oh hey, might as well backup my aim list", and just save it. It's right under the first menu tab and literally takes like 2 seconds to do.
