maybe you should learn to keep track of it mentally, like players of every other game do :looney:

Let's get rid of health bars! And the super meter too!
Nonrandom stun, plus a meter, would be very good, I think. This game will have as many meters as GG!

the positive things of not having a stun meter.
-measuring stun will be more difficult to measure, so stun whores will have a harder time doing their math.
-it discorages Stun Turtlers like Oro who would parry s.HK to nail a stun on turtling

1)Stun whores will know exactly what they need to do to stun. Others...not as much. Winner for the stun whores.
2)......seriously how did you come to this conclusion?
Hiding health/super bars was done in cvs2. It is entirely possible it could be an extra feature. (there are many games with it, cvs2 was just the first capcom game to come to mind that I know has it)
There is no argument for having no stun bar that doesn't also apply to health bars...or is retarded.
I'd like to see no stun at all, but I doubt that will happen. It adds to comeback potential, and with what we've seen from Ono at this point that sounds like the last thing he wants to get rid of.

Now that Capcom have put the character portrait pictures in the top corners of the screen, they could maybe use that for the stuff meter.
Maybe have the portrait picture shake and fade/blur to show that you are nearing dizzy status.
Let me know how to keep track of random.
lol, dizzy damage is partially random in sf2 (and as far as i know that's the ONLY game it's random in) but that doesn't mean you can't tell when you're likely to get dizzied. the fact that it isn't a 100% certainty doesn't mean shit.

I honestly don't see how you can't keep track of it yourself. People have been doing that for some time now in SF games. And retaliating by sarcastically saying, " Why not get rid of life bars either?" is fucking stupid. We're talking about stun meter and I don't see why you people can't fucking adjust to just learning when you're about to get dizzy. It's not that fucking hard.

as much as I loved 3S.. I did not enjoy the Stun Turtlers's rellying on the Stun Meter too much.
this is probably why it is not in SF4, Ono wanting to keep the game offensive minded. Cut the stun turtling down

And the fact that, you can I don't know--if you plan to play the fucking game learn how to count when you're stunned. I don't see why this is so fucking hard for people...Seriously--before I played SF competitively I had some concept of "Oh wait, the last time I got dizzy I got hit a bunch of times before hand--maybe that has something to do with it!" You people are whining about not having a stun meter as if you can't tell otherwise...When you play the game just add that to the list of things you will learn about the game.

Yeah, this sounds reasonable. Also, there are already three meters in this game, do you really need a fourth to keep track of? I mean, you still want to be able to see the characters, right? Of the various possible meters, stun meter is clearly the least important. If you've been hit a bunch of times in a row, dude, you know you shouldn't get hit again anytime soon; you don't need to know exactly, you can guesstimate. People have been doing this very successfully for years in SF2, Alpha, and CvS2. Obviously the stun won't be random like it was in pre-Remixed SF2 games, so it'll be even easier.

with a game like 3S stun meter is vital but, in ST or HF its not really needed. If 4 is anything like they say its more like ST. So far i have seen like 2 dizzies in video's and they happen from serious train runnning. It seems shorter than 3S's dizzy bar so i think its easier to keep track in your head. I think it adds and element of suprise to keep them hidden. Meters are not always good.....

This man is a fucking genius. We also need a bar that appears when you attack and depletes as the attack progresses. This bar will be completely empty by the time you're out of recovery. It will be green during startup, red during active frames, and blue during recovery. In addition, there will be a hype meter showing the crowd's impression of each player's fighting, along with opinion poll data from other players at the arcade. Of course, from time to time ballots will pop up on your screen enabling you to vote on other people's games. In addition, when you are voting, it will show picture in picture of the fight you're voting on.

Lol at stun whores.
Also why would a lack of stun meter discourage someone from going for a stun? It's not like the stun damage on the st.RH went down. That's like saying no health bars would discourage people from trying to deal damage to the other character.

I hate Oro's HK, it's ugly, it takes off too much stun and he is already designed to be a turtle character already and they give him this Bison kick with mega stun on it.. fuck Oro
it`s like a Boxer entering a boxing match with a Measuring Cup measuring the amount of ecto-plasm in his attacks.. hmm my straight has more stun. I should just parry and do straights all day .. thank you Measuring Cup

As a 3S fan the stun meter would be the last thing I'd be worried about. One of the main reasons they probably added it was to initially give offensive players a reason to continue their offense. If you know that their bar is 80 percent full and you know you have a normal that does 20 percent stun if it hits...you're gonna wanna go for it and try for that stun. As an Ibuki player it helps to know exactly when I'm in a situation where a stun is possible. Especially when she has combo strings that do nearly half stun. Of course this can also backfire and give turtlers a sense of security and start to build up a strong defensive game to stay away from being stunned instead of pursing an offensive game themselves.
Plus there's the fact that an opponent's stun slowly decreases as they are not being hit. I don't know if this happens in other SF games but the stun meter helps to guage how much further pressure you need to put on to get the stun. Then there's the fact that combo and juggle properties in 3S completely change once an opponent is stunned. There is hit stun added to whatever attack you hit the opponent with that causes stun. Even before the stun status there are new combos you can create if you know the next attack you use will stun the opponent. Unlike pretty much every other SF game...the opponent never gets put into an invincible state when stunned. Then once they are stunned...if whatever you stunned them with caused them to be launched into the air the juggle counter is reset and you actually get an extra 2 points or so worth of juggle potential. Allowing you to come up with the crazy juggle combinations you see after stuns in the game. I'm thinking the stun system was made to help accomodate these properties of the game. Lastly...any attack will juggle in a stun combo. Ryu can do like 6 standing jabs in a row just by dashing inbetween each dash in the corner. The attack simply just has to fall into the opponent's hit box during the stun juggle.
In Super Turbo or CVS2 when you stun the opponent...no matter whether you him them with a powerful special move or a jumping light kick, the opponent will be knocked into the air and put in a temporary invulnerable state until they fall to the ground. Which then gives you the ok to hit the opponent once they get back up in their dizzy animation. 3rd Strike allows for ridiculous stun combos because the opponent is never put into this "invulnerable state" when stunned. Watch any KYSG vid to see what happens when 3S's dizzy system + crazy execution go hand in hand. In 3S if you get stunned and are put in a juggle state...you usually don't make it out alive. Most every character can catch you with some crazy juggle long before you even hit the ground. Hell...even MVC2 puts the opponent into the invulnerable state when they get stunned. Only difference is in MVC2 there are no dizzy states. I believe in that game the opponent is simply reset back into a neutral position and free to move/attack after falling to the ground.
Overall the stun meter helps...but again...it's not really needed. Especially if the dizzy system works like older SF games there really won't be much reason to have it. In CVS2 characters like Geese and Sagat can run your stun bar up hella with basic combo strings. You don't necessarily need a stun meter to know when you're gonna stun somebody with those characters. Going back to 3S...there are some characters like Yun and Chun Li who very rarely kill someone by stunning them because of their play styles which would also further negate the need for it.

If there was not a stun gauge in 3rd then turtles would rule. Stun is there to motivate you to just not sit there when you have been hit too many times. Plus the stun gauge goes down over time. Being close to stun will sometimes be an advantage in that your opponet is more likely to attack you in haste without thinking and leave themselves open to defensive counter attacks.
Without stun some charaters would be utter trash ie:Makoto.
It works both ways. But if non-mastery of the stun system left a bad taste in players mouths then do away with it for the good of the younger generation of players.

At least give people an indicatation they are about to get stun'd, and don't let stun be random like in SFII XD. Getting hit with like 2 fireballs and getting stun'd is hella gay at the very least.
