Okay Hinokakera 3.00 is available for download. This game is really really good and we should hype it up.

Here is the link to download the game: http://files.filefront.com/hinokakera+v300zip/;9997139;/fileinfo.html

So let's get a postin! But in the mean time...here's some vids:

Okay well that's all I have for now. I'll be posting my own combo vids and stuff later.

This game has a lot of potential, so let's see where it goes...

And this will probably answer any questions u may have:

Nekich's Awesome Hinokakera 3.01a Ver:1.0 guide!!!
http://neoseeker.com/resourcelink.html?rlid=165143

Alright, thanks to SRK's 4649 I have been advised that there's an important patch for this game:

3.01a ( http://www.badongo.com/file/8571615 )

IRC Information: (Thanks to SRK Spooty)

Room: #fragments
On The Server: irc.rizon.net

NetPlay Tutorial: (Special Thanks to Spooty for reminding me of my scrubbiness...LMAO and to Nekich for his awesome Strategy Guide...again that can be downloaded at the link above)

Since version 2.02, Hinokakera has a peer-to-peer netplay mode, made into a
separate "netvs" executable. Before running it, right-click on the file and
select "Properties". There, open a second tab and enable Win2000 compatibility
mode, then click "Ok". Without this, the application won't run on XP and Vista
systems. Also, to prevent a possible desynchronization, make sure you and your
opponent have the same graphics/sound settings in "config.exe".

Netpay window itself is self-explanatory - type your nickname into the
"Name" field and select to be either "server" or "client".
To host an Internet game, an external IP-address and an open port are
required (LAN games maybe hosted with internal IPs and closed ports). Enter
both of them and select the desired framerate. Do note, that 60FPS will
probably work only in a LAN game. Since there are no chat fucntions or lobbys,
you will have to give the 2nd player your IP and port numbers and the press
"Wait". Netvs will report a successful connection. Afterwards, simply press
"Start".
Client, aside from IP/port numbers doesn't need anything else to connect.

Notes about netplay:
- Host is always the 1st player, client - 2nd;
- Regardless of the player being a host or a client, netplay will use 1st
player controls;
- Once started, the game runs and looks as usual, except some menus are
disabled;
- Both players can navigate through menus simultaneously (causing much
confusion);
- Both sides load their own save files. This may result in players seeing
different character colours in-game (happens when one of them selects 4th
colour not yet unlocked by his or her opponent).

Happy Gaming...[/quote]

I messed around with it for a few minutes in practice mode, seems ok I guess. Is there a way to get out of the juggles? If not, most characters have infinites.

DarkNecrid
02-05-2007, 02:39 PM
Really? I think you can recover after hits but thats about it.

Also the blonde chick with the sabre is HORRIBLE. The best combo I did was 11 hits for 2000 damage. WTF.

I messed around with it for a few minutes in practice mode, seems ok I guess. Is there a way to get out of the juggles? If not, most characters have infinites.

I was thinking the same thing. I was playing Raven and pretty much all I would do in practice is ->B-launch-A,B,C-A-A,B,C-repeat. I know he's not the only character with a "combo" like this.

BTW, how's Raven strategy-wise? He seems alright to me, but I suck at "tiering".

EDIT: The combo is this...

->B (launches)-A,B,C, (land on ground) A, (jump up) A,B,C, repeat.

Although Milky's video explains this well enough...

DarkNecrid
02-05-2007, 08:05 PM
I just tried to do that and it did not work? Could you take a video of it or something.

The closest I got was 9 hits ;P

They are not infinites, you can break out of them. I tested them against the AI.

Here is a short example of one of the loops we were talking about, though they are worthless with the bounce out of juggle thing.

"how is aya top? mind providing explainatio for those choices?"

Great supers (which have some decent combos), good damage, she can combo her throw into her QCB+B, and some other random stuff. Shes pretty good. I pretty much just put her as Top because of how good she is, not compared to any other fighters data wise. She's probably top middle / middle.

Aronia though...

With max energy guage you can deal an easy ~6000 damage combo with like no effort with her @_@

#iamp on irc.pyoko.org for matches and chat.

And enough thread hijacking from me; Hinokakera's alright, but I'm not big on the 2.5D genre so I never fully got into it. If it gets a decent netplay I would probably try it.

How is the connection with people like that?

bellreisa
02-06-2007, 05:56 PM
Playable, but not optimal. Depending on how the connection is you get 56-63 fps and slightly delayed input. One thing I've learned from playing Japanese players is that sound tactics will more than compensate for dropped execution due to lag, though.

Here's a really good video for those who haven't seen it yet:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=roEaRld0zAg

Also:
For netplay, both of you must have the following configuarion (except for keys) :
(Sound and BGM might work on, but it might lower your FPS and cause you to DS)

http://img165.imageshack.us/img165/9696/hinokakeraha9.jpg

Then just run netvs and crap and connect to someone you are wanting to play with.

Um, i hope i won't get smacked for reviving this.

Anyways, Hinokakera v3.00 went on sale and there's a new trial at the website (usual stuff with 4 characters and a couple of stages). And i wonder if it'll gain any more popularity over here (too bad the game still uses the same, 4 year old engine). Or, at least, i hope to get opinions on what's right and what's wrong with this new version from those who play fightings more or less seriously.

So how does everyone suppose we hype this up. I am interested in getting some feed back of what u guys think of the game. Some of yous may be totally new to this.

I personally think it has a better engine than Fatal Fake. I like how different Assault and Technical grooves are in terms of options they provide from gameplay. Max ougi is incredible and takes mad damage. But u need to be 100% MAX'ed. And Max supers can be blocked so that's coo. Also if u do MAX super in the middle of combos it's toned down a tad...and I mean "a tad"...lol.

No two characters in this game are the same...well except Aya/ Aya-Immortal...lol! So that's always a +.

This game get's a 8 out of 10.

So how does everyone suppose we hype this up?

First and foremost. Add that the game has P2P NETPLAY in the first post. This will attact many more people. Just add a whole section with a bolded/colored heading so that people with see that it has netplay. And give a little netplay FAQ in that section.

Secondly, IRC channel. Doesn't matter if you join up with another doujin fighter online channel or something. Just have a place where people can meet to set up games.

Thanks Sabin!!!!

But is it possible u could make my post first (post #66)? Because it has all the correct information with updates, vids, and etc.

Don't want the viewer to download anything unnecessary. I would ask the person that started this thread, but that person hasn't participated in this thread in quite some time.

I got everything needed, it seems like a cool fighter.

I sorta prefer Fatal/Fake tho, but this has netplay, so that is a plus.

This game is LOLZ

I had fun the little I played it, but the one character, Celestes I think (the guy in all green)....UGH, talk about turtle-friendly. That guy is so irritating once he gets distance on you.

I'll probably do netplay after I get it set up and practice a little more.

Don't expect A:BK level of netplay. HK's client is quite promitive in fact.

Thanks Sabin much appreciated, seriously!!!

And yea Hinokakera is better played in person than online (I tried playing vs. Spooty and he lives in NC. and the lag was horrible, going at only 6 - 8 fps). But if u really don't have anyone to play vs., than the computer could provide enough challenge.

Is there any way to convert these replay files to AVI or MPEG format so I can upload vids or something?

Why don't you FRAPS it?

digimonemporer
04-23-2008, 09:02 PM
Never heard of that...what is it?

Spooty Whiteboy

FRAPS is a program used to record shit on your screen, such as a replay of a fighting game.

digimonemporer
04-24-2008, 07:00 AM
Yea and it's terrible. I downloaded it this morning and was working with it. And when I tried to record stuff, it forced the game to go at a slower speed. Running without Fraps at 60 fps and then with it in record at 30 fps or less. Lame!!!

And I tried every setting to make the game run smoother while Fraps was recording and got nothing.

Is there something I'm NOT doing right?

It's a known bug. Try to skip through Story mode with Auto-Read on (and 'text speed' set to 10) - if it still crashes, then there's something with your PC or operating system. Likely missing japanese fonts.

What are the system requirements for this game? I'm really bored of all the games right now, so I'm looking for something new. Also, how is the guy with guns in this game? He looks interesting to play.

Try using a program called AppLocale. It displays the Japanese text once you start it up. Oh yeah, another thing; you have to start the game up through the configurations icon, not the game icon. It will freeze if you load the game from the Hinokakera icon, even using AppLocale.

Overall, I heard netplay is pretty much unplayable. I haven't even bothered with it yet.

Like before, I'm interested in purchasing the game for the music files, so does anyone know where they actually sell the physical copy of this game? I've looked around, but the only information I could find was that all three Hinokakera "games" were sold commercially, which doesn't help me much.

Also, does anyone know if the music to Hinokakera changes drastically from game to game? I can't tell if the two most recent Hinokakera games are anything more than just minor updates/patches. I'll do some YouTube research on this, but just in case I can't figure it out, there is a slim chance that someone here has actually played all three Hinokakera games. So, it doesn't hurt to ask, right?

Thanks.

The only music files you get are the WAVs in the [music] folder of the game itself. There are no CD Audio tracks, if that's what you're interested in. There is no separate OST either. Nevertheless, i think on HK's homepage there's a list of doujin shops that sell the game.

v1-2 had no changes in music. v3 has all the previous ones + new themes for Ashley, Malakh, K-Aya and a bunch of tracks for the Story mode.

That's exactly what I was looking for, actually, and that's why I had a sudden interest in the game (Heard they were in .wav format elsewhere) . Thanks for the information on the audio differences between the games and the lead on where to purchase the game. It makes my job a lot easier, I think.

How do you play as Ashley ?

Lackadaisical
05-29-2008, 02:58 PM
I actually bought the game recently and just "played" through Story mode (on Normal) once and I got Ashley and the evil version of Aya as a reward.

If you can't read Japanese, make sure you have the text speed at the fastest level and the auto read function on when doing Story mode. Otherwise, it's going to be a while before you get Ashley.
