I've been on the hunt lately for games that I can play with someone of the female gender. All my games tend to be fighting games or something extremely competitive, thus...yeah they don't want to play with me. They 'know' when I'm 'faking it' lmao. any recommendations for games I can run with someone? Currently I have a XBox 360, PS2, GameCube, DC, and looking at buying back my XBox, and possibly adding a Wii to the collection. Currently the games I've run with my Ex that worked for a little bit...
Viva Pinata - X360 - was good, but takes a long time to get started...great for a GF, sucks when a random chick wants to play
Luminees - X360 - sucks one player as going thru the levels takes forever to just watch. Competitive play wether time trial or actual head-to-head, I end up crushing them.
Super Monkey Ball - GameCube - Lasted one night. After she played on it for an hour, I whooped her on my first try  ...so much potnetial...cute monkies, easy premise.
DDR & its variants - PS2 - Supernova as been the best as its relatively easy and has songs they know verses the Jap/Euro techy stuff, however my current apartment won't allow me to...jump all over the place for noise reasons *working around this now*. Can be fun when you finally convince them to give it a real try.
I'm looking for a few more options though...

It seems generally women enjoy puzzle games more than any action/adventure/RPG/Fighting games that we play. For the life of me I couldn't get my wife to try any of the FF games or WoW or any other game I might have been playing in the past.
However, I picked up PS3 and she took one look at that Piyotama game (which is kinda like tetris but you reshuffle eggs trying to get 4 in a row/diag/etc in order to 'hatch' them) and immediately wanted to play it. I love gaming with my wife, I just wish we shared more games in common.
When the next FF game comes out im going to try and get her to play it with me... i.e. ill only play it when she's home so she can follow the story and HOPEFULLY get into it. Fighting games or games where it's easy to die (like Mario Galaxy, for instance) just can't hold her attention long enough.. she get's frustrated too quickly and wants to quit.
Maybe it's not that way for all women, but I definitly see a trend towards puzzlers more than any other genre for them.

I think I'm lucky in that my girl likes watching me play some of the games if the story is good. Sometimes we'll play some games together. Usually its something co-operative though as she doesn't like being competitive. Co-operative and easy to play not something that requires a lot of execution. So something along the lines of lego star wars or even double dash works well. We've been playing a PS3 title called Pixel junk monsters(Basically tower defense) lately. We really enjoy it.

seconded on Katamari Damacy. My ex-gf would have fun even looking at me playing it. Although she was into japanese music/anime and stuff so that might've been why she liked it. >.<
Aside from that, I don't really know of any games my ex-gf REALLY liked playing with me. She enjoyed DDR for the exercise. I got her one of those singing games but yeah, that one she played by herself, lol.

You don't. Get Super Puzzle Fighter II HD Remix, Piyotama, and Super Rub a Dub. Those will last longer than Wii Sports or Wii Play, which get old very quickly.
EDIT: If you do get a Wii, I think Wii Play makes for a better 2-player experience than Wii Sports, although half the "fun" from either of those comes from the Mii builder.

Check the language in the actual post. I'm not calling her my wifey, its more of a general topic, not for a specific female. She's not the only female who's come over my psot to play video games.
I'm trying to avoid games with long setups and intros. Veva came over and got bored with a game just because it took like 3-5 minutes before the storyline was over and she could start 'killing guys'. Viva Pinata is a great game for the ladies, but it starts sooo frigggiiiinn sllllllloooooowwwwwwwwww...I'm trying to avoid that. I'd like to avoid head to head as much as possible, I tend to excel beyond them most of the time - and then they quickly lose intrest when they aren't winning. Rockband has been the current 'winner', but...yeah taste is different...and I can't play RB for too long anymore - hour max.
As for 'when' - its not playing games cause I want to, its just finding things to do besides a movie.

DDR in general is easy.
Me and my ex played Chocobo Racing a lot.
And like all of my girlfriends but my recent one didn't mind I played/obsessed over fightings games. And they'd understand when I'd have game nights. Half the time they would be recording matches or getting hyped up with the rest of my friends.
But when it came time that where they wanted to fuck. They HATED competing against my love for gaming.
But yeah, racing and puzzle games are a must have when it comes to girls and gaming. There are very few exceptions.

well for a new gamer those are good. For a experienced girl gamer, let her try all kinds of games. There are about 100 girls in my clan alone that play COD4 and around 110 that play Halo 3,60 for Gears of War,a lot more for other games too. A lot of them are wives and have kids. I can't stand it when people see"oh it's a girl, she must play puzzle and barbie games" each person is different so let her try out all kinds. If she needs some encouragement in trying the non puzzle-girly games, look me up. I am a fighting game fan,FPS fan :lovin: or for girls that want to play with other girls to make them feel more welcome try this group:

It's already been stated, but extremely true, that all bitches love music sim games. DDR, Guitar Hero, Rock Band, what the fuck ever.
I've had some success getting girls to play Culdcept with me. It's kind of complicated though, I guess. If they really aren't into games at all, you can just liken it to being a board game. My one friend really likes it because of the art on the cards and the cuteness factor. It wouldn't be good for one-shotting though, but if you're looking for something to try and play with her over a decent period of time, it might be a decent choice.

I know a few that like Halo, and generally anything that's not a fighting game and has stages (not something that has save points like Zelda or Final Fantasy type shit). Also, this doesn't necessarily count, but some chicks like to take part in survival horror games. They don't take THAT long to beat and they like to help with the puzzles and inventory management shit (and some sadistic ass women just like to watch you lose/die). The pinball thing sounds like it might be a perfect 'stealth title' for me to find. The wii sounds nice but isn't a realistic option, I'm not hunting it down nor am I putting out a few hundred bucks just for her. For that much I can buy a woman to do things to me. I'm trying to keep things on a budget - so cheap titles/systems I alrady own are the main ways to go, just looking for ways to kill time with them. We run some RB but like I said that game bores me after an hour - usually after about 5 songs (I just don't like the music sorry). I'm setting up DDR tonyte, maybe as I get back into it she they will try it out too. Era on 8 feet here I come!

i was gonna say get diddy kong racing for the n64, but yeah mario kart and any other really simple racing games. you might have to job a little bit to get them into it, but those games are pretty addictive.
also i'm pretty sure someone else has mentioned it, but the smash games are pretty good too. everytime i'm over at my friends place we play brawl and the girls get into the action too, mind you none of us are really huge gamers anymore so i feel that's saying something.
mario party is another good one too.
i've met a few chicks that like RPGs, but since i hate RPGs that didn't really do anything for me. i bought my friend (who's a girl) a gamecube for her bday and a copy of soul calibur and she ended up playing the hell out of that game, i still used to beat her ass in it but it was good times.

They aren't going to have a gaming-a-thon with you, you might get a couple of hours MAX out of them.

My girl was about to start playing WoW but I stopped her... She loves Bust-A-Move, Tetris and other puzzle games tho. And, for some reason, Tekken 4.

No...we play that once in a blue moon, but its head-to-head, these games are bad. Outside of Veva no female I have gamed with has been anywhere NEAR my level in ANY game, and I can't even play bad to make up the difference, hell I pulled out Dan and still won. Its the biggest turn off to the women I've played with - losing...and they know when I let them win. Even games like DDR, I'm doing 6+ feet like its an everyday thang, and they struggle with 3 footers. so I'm really trying to find non-violent games that you can pick up and be competitive with thats not confusing *sorry Smash Bros would be a really really big NO, they would get frustrated from all the random shit trying to keep track of it* OR that the two of us can play together cooperatively.
Ace is right typically its no longer than an hour *unless it freaking RB I'm tired of that game* - so I need simple, I'm not even against kid games. If its one player though it needs to be short *the big problem with puzzel games, if I get good she sits there for too long and loses patience; typically becoming a dick when they play talking about going two to three times, then I lose patience and go do something else*.
I'm going to look for that pin-ball game (1), and was wondering jhow the AMC bowling game was...

Anybody ever throw a match here and there if she starts getting pissed off/frustrated because you're on a beasting streak?
...then she gets back in her zone and wrecks you straight up?

I've met quite a few women who play WoW and other MMOs... I'm not sure they are the kind you really want to game with though.

Looks like you need to expand and get out the videogame dates; explore DC or something, then coming back to the games as you "wind down". You can't play a night of gaming with the majority of woman. Cause after that hour of gaming...what do you do then?

We typically play when the nyte is winding down...its not 'what we do all nyte'...I'm just looking for gaming filler.

Yes. Sandbagging can be a tricky thing. You let someone get to far ahead and it can be hard to catch back up.

...you play 8's and you think Supernova is easier than other mixes? I'm so confused.
Also, most of the girls I know that play games at all play rpgs, FF especially, so that's unusual. This thread seems more like something to initiate the casual gamer unobtrusively rather than being anything specifically about girlfriends.
