I want to succeed in what I do. I came up from nothing, and am doing better now. But I feel stuck, you know? That's why I said "mid tier", it just felt most natural. I want a break man. So from the other thread, I got this so far:

salary = $65000-$85000, dependant on if I reach my targets. I used to live on $10 a week in my low tier days.

financial net worth: You mean total savings? Enough to live without a job for 4 years. Meaning I can provide for accomodation + food and still have a some to play with on the side. I don't own a house though.

tournaments won: I was four years consecutive speed reading champion when when I was between 9-12.

degrees earned: just one, from a mid ranged college. In my low tier years everybody told me I was too stupid for even highschool.

schools attended: I don't see how this is relevant. No highly accredited private schools, if that's what you mean.

Anyway, 65-80,000 doesn't look like anything to scoff at, you're probably capable of "buying" that house you don't own yet, as the market is ripe for it now.

The only question really is (I guess), how much time do you have available off work to spend on creating a new life. If you're pushing your late 30's, you're getting dangerously close to that point in life where some would say you couldn't learn new tricks and are dead set in your ways, IMO. That doesn't apply to everyone, just most.

Some people are at the top of the world, and they didn't even finish their degree.
Some are just made of the right stuff, and rebound after loosing everything without a problem.

Also in the end it seems, to me anyway, that to get ahead here, you gotta compensate the further out your goal is by taking aim and shooting higher than your actual target, but don't over compensate or you'll fall short. Know what you want and go for it.

To succeed in everything though, I believe you must have some inherent drive to succeed in whatever field of interest of yours. Some succeed at what they hate, but in those cases its the actual application of their work that intrigues them, and the benefits were the payoff. Those latter cases are simply in denial, IMO.

Take everything I say here with a grain of salt, because my definition of success isn't quite the same as most others. I don't believe you need to have fucked 100 women and have a net worth of 2 million to be considered "top tier."

Being merely capable of standing up for yourself, kicking ass and taking names is all that matters to me. As well as family, and continued sex with the wife...
