I was just checking the TV Guide channel to see what is going to be on later. Find out SF2: The Animated Movie will be on at 11pm on Sci-Fi. It will probably be the edited version.

Heh, the story of shadowlaw bares a real similarity to the oligarchy that exists today. Drug trafficking, political influence, etc etc.
Get ahold of American Drug War: The Last Great White Hope by Kevin Booth, a new documentary thats been released, to see the correlation if you haven't already known.

Hahahaha, yeah. Just saw it on Youtube too. I always thought the English version had awesome music but when has a dubbing ever been better than the original. Then all the sudden it made sense why they had to go as far to change the music. Complete WTF @ random j-pop. What is that shit? Seriously.

I loved this movie back in the days, and yep the best part of the movie was when Vega and Chun-Li dueled in their apartment. Vega was giving it to her fine animated ass, slashing foes left and right with that claw, and then she fucked him up with that 1000 kick combo. Classic shit. But the only way to watch the film is unedited seeing that some sensitive bastards want to cut out Chun-Li's shower scene.
BTW: Did everybody get the feeling while watching the flick that Vega would have necroed Chun-Li if he would have killed her? They made that nigga into a straight psycho, talking about peeling the skin off of people.

dood, the music when Chun and Vega are fighting pwn the japanese version
it was much more aggressive and made the fight much more exciting.
The american soundtrack was golden, I loved "Israel's Son"
The part I rewinded the most was "You Bitch I'll Make You SUFFAH!!!!!" I couldnt get over that fact that he called her a bitch lol.
Vega was sooo much awesomeness it that movie, I wish he had more time on screen dammit!
The animation was sooo fluid, I swear there were no flaws
I have not seen anything top it.

when Ken almost falls off the cliff and Ryu catches him, and they gaze into each others eyes hahahaha.

My favorite corny dub dialogues:
"Ryu.... The vagabound who dropped off the earth...."
- T. Hawk
"Anyone who can BEAT THE CRAP outta Sagat is a man worth finding"
- Bison (says this when Sagat was standing just behind him)
Sagat = :sad:
Me = :rofl:
"A power! But where? Emanating from................................ A MAN!"
- Dhalsim
"YOU DICKHEAD!"
- Ken (when the ATOL flies over his car)
Nurse: "Can you please come to the hospital? It's urgent...."
Guile: ".................................................. .................................................. ................................ CHUN LI!"
- Guile (Yes I know this would sound the same in the original version, but I still found Guile's long pause to be pretty funny)
Guile: "BISON! I'll rip your heart out you filthy bastard!"
Bison: " Heh heh.... I'm afraid I don't have one. You know, Guile...evil is a great career choice. It has a lot to offer!"

The japanese version>english version, I'm sorry, but the theme song Cry in Chunli vs Vega battle for the Japanese Version was great, I dont see how anyone could say it was trash.
Then you had the slow melody song of the Ryu/Ken vs Bison theme playing when Chunli goes on the offensive against Vega. That matched her fight much better because it had a far more elegant and graceful notion.
Although I actually liked the english voice overs for the characters, besides Fei-Long's voice over in english...gah...that sounded like complete and utter garbage with the "Woooo-Wooo-Wooo-Wooo-Taaaaaaaaa!"
Ryu/Ken vs Bison in the japanese version was far more epic, the catchy music got you into the fight easily.
SFII:TAM still to this day has some of the BEST drawn animated fight scenes ever, because the hits in there actually look like they hurt, when "Mind Controlled" Ken pummeled the living day lights out of Ryu, you could feel the hits. Or the Shoryuken that Ken laid to waste on T.Hawk :lovin:
Oh yeah, best version of how the Hadouken was channeled into the hand and released...I remember the first time I saw Ryu channel in the Hadouken at the opening fight with Sagat...damn, that shit was epic, and still gets my blood pumping whenever I see that.

they played some flying through a sky music while Vega is beating Chun li's ass
Chun li was not being elegant in that battle, she got medevil on Vega's ass
and when that guitar was playing when she stood in front of Vega like "what now muddah fucka" while he cried about his face getting tore up was hands down amazing.
none of the music in the japanese version fit the mood IMO.

Sure, that particular scene was one of the best animation wise, but no flaws? uh-uh.
About the sound: I was so disappointed when I first heard the Japanese version. I was all set for an even better experience then when I saw it in English, but no: weak j-pop and HORRIBLE voice acting.
If you're gonna hire a voice actor for a movie that's mainly about fighting, make sure they can at least do a decent scream. Ken and Ryu's faint "hee-ya's" hurt my ears...
My favorite bit of animation in this movie is probably not a fan favorite, but it's when Honda throws Dhalsim after he's released from that hypnosis thingy. Nice timing and the complexity of the movement was very well handled.
I also like the editing of the fighting scene's. Fast cutting, changing from fast extreme close-up to far away slo-mo... Nice stuff! The build up between Vega and Chun Li's is also very nice imo. They don't show Vega entering the apartment, but just the route he took, while cutting back and forth to Chun Li. You could argue that they were saving on animation costs and you'd probably be right, but it just works really well.
I know I'm taking this too seriously, but in terms of game to movie adaptations, Street Fighter Animated was pretty much perfect!

One thing I've noticed: everybody who liked the english dub of SF The movie saw the dub first. Same with dbz. Look at it like this: If you feed a person canned junk food (Chef Boyardee and Craft shit) their whole life, then give them a delicious plate of chicken (hot sauce optional), of course they'll say the chicken is shit, and go back to their junk food. They're so used to crap that they PREFER it.

You're making some pretty bad generalizations here...
I saw both the English and Japanese versions and I have no real preference. Typically, I do prefer subs over dubs, but I'll watch the latter so long as it's decent. Other than some cheesy lines, I think the dubbing in the animated movie was pretty damn good. The quality was nice and each voice seemed to fit its designated character. E. Honda is probably my only issue, but he was pretty much there for comedic relief so whatever.

Charlie turned into Blanka:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:
I can't believe people actually think that's true
yeah leave it to america to fuck up continuity. That aside, Charlie and Blanka are easily some of my fave fighters. I didn't care for the EX series as much as others but i have to admit Blanka's supers were bad ass.

Hell yaw!
I was so impressed with the detail in the hair, Lol there was so much it really looked Ken and Ryu were using pantene.
and yeh Lol at that android trying to walk away
and it was even more funny he was rocking Phat Farm
I wish I would have got to see Fei Long do more mang
but when Ryu T-senpukyaku him that was just effortless and amazing.
to me its also the angle and perspective. when they show a character moving away not only do they animate the person they have to make the person smaller.
a good example is bison firing guile into that black pit. guile is flipping around which is hard enough to draw (have to draw him from all the angles spinning on that axis) and they had to make that smaller as he fell in. Just lots of little things.

I feel u 100%
talk about visually pleasing, this was soooo well animated it's not even funny
when a character got hurt they detailed it so well that I could feel the character's pain, and as you said the angle perspective it was close to perfection.
They showed everything they didnt half ass one bit of the fighting sequences which most anime's tend to do. When I first saw this I was so blown away.
I 4got to mention I still think Sagat is a fucking idiot for walking right into that Hadouken, honestly what did he think he was gonna do?

They messed up the spinning pile-driver though...

Fuck SPD.:)
I really like the detail put into the actual moves Fei and Ryu did. It actually looked like REAL FIGHTING. Counters, reversals, pressure. It was awesome. And the final match against Bison was well done. Not many anime out there can top it. I've seen the movie at least 30 times.

Little note, the set-up for that hurricane: I've only seen Kenka Koppo stylists throw spinning heel kicks to the head like that (with one hand on the ground). Ryu must cross-train.

The only thing I was slightly disappointed with is Ken doing the Hurricane kick and Ryu doing the shoryuken. Granted Ryu did shoryuken in the intro I think we should have had Ken do the Shoryuken and Ryu do the Hurricane kick considering that's their respective studies. But whatever, it was still kickass.
As for me, after seeing the sub after the dub, the dub's music choice was far better than the subs. I just dislike J-Pop and as corny as the music was in the dub version it was at least fitting for the vs. Bison scene.

my 2 favorite non fighting scenes is ken's flashbacks........
Ryu: Well, i'm leaving
Ken: Time sure fly, i'm heading out myself in a couple days.
Ryu: Take care hotshot.
Ken: Next time muscleman......i'll see ya, when fate brings us together again.
-----------------------------------------------
Master Gouken: Are you going ?
Ken: Yes, i hate to go now but i must leave.
Master Gouken: "Your training here has been but a step in your preparation, a time will come in your life when you will face a an opponent and to defeat him you must go beyond victory".
Ken: Beyond what ?? Sensai i don't understand what you mean please explain it to me....SENSAI !!
Bison: I'll explain it to you boy !!!......
**ken wakes up from his brainwashing screaming**
When he finds out he can't walk he struggles to his feet he closes his eyes and starts meditating on master gouken's words.....
"Be prepared for the unexpected, concentrate mind and body as one....acheive tranquility thru movement, intregate spirit and flesh. Channel the powers, focus the mind, cleanse the soul, release that which is negative. Separate darkness and light, mind and body as one, give birth to yourself: oneness thru knowledge.....Define your exsistence: oneness thru emotions.......Create your divination: oneness with the heavens......From strength learn gentleness, thru gentleness strength will prevail."
Master Gouken: Ken what do you see in front of your fists ?........Ken AWAKEN !!
**he opens his eyes**
Ken: MY FATE !!

Classic movie. I still have the original VHS tape, although it's the censored version...I should track down the uncut DVD.
I agree with the people who liked the fight scenes...they were mind-blowing then, and they're still pretty good now. It's like watching a good live-action martial arts movie without the wirework. The best part about the fights was the pacing; you could see every move being made, yet they were still brutal (gotta love Fei Long's midair spinaroony after getting Tatsumaki'd ).

The best part about that was how the robot realized the jig was up and calmly tried to walk away. :rofl:Yes, that was great. It even tries to keep walking away after its head's been knocked off.
