Hawaii has $1 off coupons... my friend printed one out for me so I tried the sandwich. Wasn't bad... vaguely reminded me of something I would get at Chick-Fil-A, which I haven't eaten at since I lived in Georgia some years ago. The chicken was pretty good though.

PozerWolf
05-14-2008, 10:26 PM
Yeah, there not that good... but then again there not that bad.
But for $1? Sure, why not.

Just wondering, what if I get 2 medium drinks? Will I get sandwiches?
Ah, I guess I'll figure that out tomorrow.

Knowing New York I wonder what the catch is this time.

Probably the old *particpation may vary* or they'll at least tax us for the original price... twice.

This actually just reminded me of something last week.

As I was walking in a mall where I work (part-time, of course), there were these people setting up tables of merchandise: sewn stuff on one table, and sausages/pepperonis/links on another table. There were free samples out, and as I reached for one, the guy at the table said "ah ah ah, 25 cents for a sample."

...Clever bastard. That was a well-spent quarter.

Looks like a regular chicken sandwich but with pickles. I'll get one anyway.

Is that any different then me buying those chicken pieces from CostCo, making them, then putting them in a bun with pickles?

Is there anything else they add? It can't be just that cause the sandwhich would be too dry.

sounds good.

the fucking mcdonalds in japan took away our $1 McChicken awhile ago and gave us the McPork. it's a goddamn travesty is what it is. basically a sausage patty with too-salty teriyaki sauce. shit is nasty.

then they brought us the $1 "shaka shaka chicken", which is basically the patty from the mcchicken...and that's it. you can get different spiced powders to put on top, i guess. FUCK mcdonalds japan.

Ok I was to lazy to go for breakfast but I just came back for lunch.

They stop selling large ice teas for 99cent ice teas so I had to pay $1.40 for a medium but I got Mickey trapped in my ice teas inf so the jokes on them(free refills 4TW!)

"Southern" chicken sandwich taste just like the those nice $3 chicken sandwiches they sell, pretty plain just pickles, nothing special. still hit the spot!

and on my way out they were giving out free samples, got me 1/4 of an another chicken sandwich.:karate:

The biscuit thing is better than the sandwich. Tho thats not saying much.

The sandwich is just a chick fil a rip off as stated earlier. Altho im sure Chick fil a sells chicken biscuits at breakfast too.

Popeyes needs to start doing chicken biscuits and shut the game down!

05-15-2008, 11:57 AM
so how similar is the chicken biscuit to Chik fila's? I guess I should've grabbed it today for free, but if you guys tell me it's as good as chik fila's I might check it out tomorrow

I'm eating it right now. Kinda tastes like Chick Fil A but it's not. I'm actually not hungry anymore because I got full from all the Hi-C I drank while waiting for my order. I would've rather tried the Chicken biscuit instead of the sandwich to be honest...

Hoonyo
05-15-2008, 03:18 PM
The chicken biscuit was nasty, but I generally don't like biscuit sandwiches. The chicken itself was innocuous.

final_cut
05-15-2008, 03:43 PM
This was some nasty shit. How the hell is this a southern style chicken sandwich? It didn't even have mayo on it! not that I even like mayo, but wtf. They should have advertised free stomache aches.

PozerWolf
05-15-2008, 03:44 PM
The chicken itself was innocuous.
I had to google the meaning of "innocuous".
With that done, I agree.

But wow, the drinks at the McDonalds I went too costed a good $1.49.
Pfft, hoped it would be a dollar... but alas, still not too bad.

What's special about this sandwich that elevates it from regular chicken to Southern chicken?

epsilon_
05-15-2008, 05:40 PM
I take for granted being from the south and being so acquainted with Chik-Fil-A, but yes the "southern style" comes from the original Chik-Fil-A sandwich which is a chicken breast, buttered bun, and two pickles. The McDonald's sandwich is essentially a complete ripoff of that template.

The one(s) (they've had these in Georgia since 2006) I've had were pretty good, comparable to Chick-Fil-A's only much, much more plentiful in the north.

ElderGOD
05-15-2008, 05:45 PM
My McDonalds didn't participate, but I went to play handball and the McDonalds around there had it and I paid $1.81 for a medium drink and got myself a free stomach ache.

Btw, you can get it with a large iced tea for a buck.

Ate two of them.

They were ok, I guess. Shocked at the lack of mayo.

Yeah the lack of mayo or anything other then pickles made the experience less exciting. It was alright.

What's special about this sandwich that elevates it from regular chicken to Southern chicken?

Lawl me and my gf laughed at that post. Answer is, not a goddamn thing! And what's so bad is that the sandwich's lack of mayonaise and/ or other sauces is enhanced by the chicken patty being placed on those dry ass cheeseburger/ double cheeseburger buns. Not horrible but nothing at all to spend $3+ regular price on.

Hold the pickles, and you aint left with much haha.

Ducky
05-16-2008, 05:12 AM
Well... I think the lack of toppings is a point, since the sandwich seems to want to compete with Chik-Fil-A sandwiches, which don't have much on them either IIRC.
