I hear SRK is a good place to get good advice, lol. Hear me out...

I quit my job at the beginning of April. My last day was on a payday too, so I got a direct deposit in the morning for the previous 2 weeks. In addition, as it was my last day the Human Resources department gave me two more checks: one for leftover vacation time and another paying me for the current week.

So in other words I'm fully paid off.

2 weeks later, a lump of cash is direct deposited into my bank account. The next day, the check stub thingy whatever comes in the mail as usual reflecting the amount that got dropped into my account. It was for the last week I worked, a check that was already paid to me, that I had already cashed and everything! (it also showed I have zero hours of vacation time btw)

This is not the only time payroll / HR made a mistake, so I thought I should jus wait and let them fix their error... I aint gonna touch the money.

anyway... that was 4 weeks ago and I still got the cash chillin in my account. I got paid twice!!

so.... is this money by now fair game?? On one hand, big corporations can eat a dick and I do not feel morally obligated to let them know about their errors (nobody in big companies got their shyt straight anyways... fuck businessmen mother duckers). On the other hand, is there any potential I may get into trouble down the line?? Especially considering the fact that there is a 50/50 chance I may return to the company in June (which of course if I did I would let them know about this story first thing)

ah what to do lol :arazz::looney:

You should tell them now so they can't cast blame upon you.

Technically, I don't think you can face any problems if you're found out, but I'm not a lawyer. I think the worst thing that can happen is they just take money out of your next paycheck to get their money back.

I mean, companies like mine don't ever catch mistakes like that, and when they do, they try to hide it. Wait and see if you get another one next payday.

That would be awesome. Getting paid double your salary every month. I'm sure they'd notice at some point though.

You should return the check, then sue them for one million dollars for metal stress.

There's 2 ways to look at this, the funds have been dormant in your account for over 3 weeks and since you're no longer connected to their payroll I would think that they wouldn't be able to access the funds--but that is very wishful thinking.

Your " best interest" is really what's most important--not on a superficial but thinking well along the future. If you feel that there is a possibility in terms of how that company does processing that you know for sure that loss prevention will EVENTUALLY hunt you down its best to notify the company and present a copy of the stub concerning the extra money deposited into the account and THOROUGHLY explain what happened. The last thing you want is miscommunication with the company accusing you of some sort of theft. As tough as it would be to lose that money--its better than losing your freedom.

And in my experience, they get it eventually.
