So I bought a pair of shorts from the mall yesterday and didn't realize until I got home that the security tag was still attached. I could've easily taken it back to the store and had them remove it for me, but I looked online to see if there was a home method I could use to take it apart myself.
Other than possibly setting off a store alarm, I didn't know much else about these tags, but there was a warning sticker about "harmful ink" in the event that it gets tampered with.
There are apparently glass tubes in the flat surface of the tag and the shaft that holds both halves together acts as a tack that punctures the tubes, making this little thing semi-dangerous. So anyway, I came across a guide on how to take these things apart in the event that they're inadvertently left on. Of course, you can always take it back, but what's the fun in that?
