"I was once normal like you, but then I learned I was to be inducted into a secret organization of fraternal assassin brothers who kill one to save only a thousand people. Also, I can curve bullets with my mind, which is totally possible."

I never read the mini but the covers and the initial premise looked more badass than what I am seeing in the trailer. In fact it feels/seems like the story is basically a sort of Matrix, the world you know is shit and we'll train you to be badass. Was the original like that or is it a bit of movie adaptation?
Either way, I agree it looks like ass and will probably bomb.

It's predicted to catch on like 300.

I doubt that, when the 300 trailer hit at the theaters people were screaming and couldn't stop talking about it. When I first saw the Wanted trailer everyone was pretty much laughing, one guy yelled out asking if this was another crappy Matrix flick.

It was predicted by people who have already had a screening of it.
My theater had a bunch of people going "whoa" and "holy shit" especially at the scene when Jolie is picking up the main character by swerving and opening the passenger side door.
I have yet to see a trailer and think that the movie will automatically suck, so I'm not sure where all the bandwagon hate is coming from.
It'll be a decent campy summer popcorn movie at worst.

Between gas prices and outrageous ticket prices these days, I'm more picky about which flick I see. So far the only one's I remember seeing are Iron Man and Hulk lol.
My list of flicks to see are Hellboy 2, Thunder w.e (Ben Stiller one), The Dark Knight, The Spirit, and Punisher: War Zone.
I just never liked Wanted, Angelina Jolie, or Mr. Thomas. I do like Morgan Freeman, but I got him covered in Dark Knight.

06-19-2008, 01:12 PM
I saw the Hulk and Iron Man, and I'll see Dark Knight.
Maaaaaaaybe Hellboy 2.
Maybe.
Matine prices are above 7 bucks here so I shudder to think what people are paying outside of Ohio.
I don't honestly care that much about Wanted, but then again I didn't care much about the comicbook version either.
Are_you_okay?!

I think my tickets are like 9.50 to 10 bucks. I go to Tinseltown though in the Woodlands, it's classy and not ghetto by any means.
I usually just sneak food and shit in, prices on that shit is ridiculous. I was going to get a coke from a vending machine in the theater and it was $3.50 for a bottle. It was the same fucking one I could get at a gas station for a 1.29.

The whole "Angelina Jolie flailing around doing some wack ass acrobatics" comes across as low budget shitty movie making.
Early reviews have been positive for this film.
Rotten tomatoes has it at 100% currently based on 8 reviews so far.
We'll have to wait and see if that holds up come release date.

I just lost 100% respect for rottentomatoes...
I'm really sick of the cg overkill - at least the Lord of the Rings had some good seamless scenes, watching the Hulk trailer felt like a rendered cutscene out of a game and Wanted...
Well let's just say Angelina Jolie was a lot better in Hackers... which was also probably a (much) better movie.
It seems like the demographics for this movie are comic fanboys who wish they could be Neo and screw Angelina Jolie, but they can't even get their fat ass into a cartwheel and find a girl on WoW.
===================
I kinda want to see ironman, but as soon as his mask goes over his face he becomes just a computer model to me.
They should have made him less shiny and got rid of the glowing eyes (like how iron man is supposed to look).
Kinda like what they did with Transformers and Godzilla -- man they really jacked up their style.
All of these hot IP floating around with crappy pop-culture interpretations that just simply suck.
Oh hey and how come MK the movie got it about right, but Street Fighter came out like it was made on a $2 budget?
Man movies piss me off.
On the plus side the upcoming HALO movie looks pretty damn decent (though I wish they would cut down on the HUD/IRAQI invasion display).
If they screw-up that too I'm not going to be watching any new movies for a while.

This shit looks fuckin bunk. Matrix style shit was played the fuck out mid way through Matrix 2, and this shit is no exception.

The only time you should really be complaining about CG in a movie is if it's a movie done by George Lucas, because there, the movies have the "Reverse Roger Rabbit" effect where the people are real, and everything else looks CGI.
Funny you mention Hackers, because Hackers was Angelina Jolie's least dignified role....until Alexander that is.
Dont talk about the Transformers movie, I still can't get over the way they fucked over Megatrons and Optimus Prime's appearance.
Even though the MK movie got it right, it still had some issues and inaccuracies thanks to Paul "I like to change everything" W.S Anderson. And the reason the Street Fighter movie looks like a low budget comedy movie is because the director actually intended for it to be a "serious movie". Mortal Kombat Annihilation was just a piece of shit though.

it was filmed in the parking lot of where I work (that car scene in the trailer). as well as the football field behind the parking lot.

I think the producers are overestimating, like what kind of lame talent is curving a bullet? How the hell will that help you in life being able to curve a bullet.
EDIT: Well then again the comic did rock.

AcidBurn married ZeroCool in REAL LIFE haha, so it must not have been too bad for her.
Oh and the prequel star wars movies 'look' pretty good - especially the first one.
At least it's not like most super hero movies where the characters obviously become a 3D model that animates like Gumby (ie all of the spidermans).
I think the backgrounds in 2nd one started to look a bit odd, but it's not too bad.

Dude, superhero movie cgi does not compare to George Lucas CGI. George Lucas's cgifests are in a category of their own.
And by George Lucas cgi, I'm not just talking about the prequel Star Wars movies, I'm talking about the recent Indiana Jones movie as well

The commercials look like it has nothing to do with the book other than having the same name. The miniseries was awesome, and they've already fucked up the best part if they're not keeping the original theme.

Nowadays where PC Watchdogs get pissed about something they can't babysit their kids with, of course Hollywood wasn't going to go with even a fraction of the things in Wanted.
Look at Golden Compass for example. If that got the catholic church on a rampage about the real plot of the story, a walking pile of shit and a woman admitting she loves the cock would give the soccer moms a heart attack.

13 reviews on Rotten Tomatoes and it's at 92%.
The 1 rotten review was from a "New Yorker" critic who's main complaint was it was "too violent"...
Interesting to see how it plays out as the week goes on.

Wikipedia did say it was "loosely" based on the comics, which is a good indicator of how shitty this movie is gonna be.

This thread has just been owned. Everybody, including critics, loves the hell out of this movie.
Only people whining are the kids that can't accept changes (yeah, like shithead and raping celebrities for fun would fly).
Whiners can go fuck themselves (because they clearly didn't understand the message in the comic - like the last few pages weren't clear enough ).

after i left wanted they had a showing of wall e starting in a couple mins so i watched that
its a pretty adult movie which was surprising
there's no dialogue either for first half of the movie or so
both were pretty good

I think the whole problem is how the movie/trailer were packaged. If you know nothing of the comic, the trailer makes it seem like some corny ass movie about Jolie jumping up and down and curving bullets with the Morgan Freeman's voice assist.

From now on I will picture your voice sounding like the MVC2 announcer.
Saving my money for the upcoming Batman and Hellboy movies so I'll pass on Wanted for now. I'll see it on cable later on. Much bigger fan of Batman and Hellboy I guess... Maybe I'll see Hancock since that seems fun, not sure though.

I think this is the first movie the deviates heavily from source and is no worse for it. It was a fun story, it takes the premise of Wanted but beyond that doesn't really follow anything but the initial plot points. It was just a fun action movie, the humor was good, the action was good, and really my only complaint are some of the scenes don't make sense with the plot. (One glaring scene that me and my friends tried to figure out after the movie ended.)
Course this is just my opening. The CG was largely relegated to things that look okay computer generated (cars, bullets, etc) there are a few scenes were the people are, but it's not near as much as some other movies.
I'd recommend it. (Though I must say I went back to see the comic after seeing the film.)

I haven't read the comics but I noticed this thread and just wanted to chime in that the movie was great. Plot holes all over the place and a really stupid storyline, but the action was just awesome. That whole introduction sequence from the Convenience Store all the way up to the keyboard scene was top-notch, I could watch it over and over, and the end of the movie was on par with Equlibrium's Hall of Mirrors.
Edit:

Totally agree with this. There's other movies that deviate from their source but turn out great though, except maybe not from a comic books. But for example, all the Bourne movies basically only have character names in common with the books, but are great.
im reading the comic now....jesus this thing has some real racial overtones. the boss has no name just african american boss..and pretty much everyone normal is identified as a race. movie>comic at the moment..im only in issue 2..will be done in a half n hour.
