honestly, I can't stand Stiller anymore because he's the same person in every single movie, regardless the role/character he's supposed to play. Same with Black.

Downey Jr. though... just from looking at the trailer, he's gonna shit all over those two. Black Downey Jr. ftw indeed.

It's funny that they pan to Rihanna and Chris Brown and they both have the "That wasn't funny at all, where is fat suit Martin Lawrence" face.

And yeah, RDJ and, surprisingly, Tom Cruise are supposed to completely kill in this movie.

Just got back from seeing this and I can safely say it shits on superbad, pineapple express, or any comedy in recent memory in fact I'd go so far as to say this is easily one of the greatest comedies of all time. It's TDK in the way that you know it's going to be good going in but it ends up being 100x better then the hype.

This movie spoofs on everything from corny one liners to the actors in the movie to the over the top action in action flicks to the unnecessary hyping of bad movies tropic thunder covers it all! Stiller, Downey jr, and yes even Cruise steal the whole fucking show in their own way and cruise had a surprising amount of screen time for a minor character but that's a good thing. I was pleasantly surprised at how they took the most commonly used plot device in film (miss communication) and just completely ran with it till the very fucking end.

The director got fucked on that, the studio was pissed at him and decided to give it no advertising, and almost no theater count. Too bad, great movie, get it on Blu-ray!

On to TT, movie was better than I expected. I actually went to see Pineapple Express, but internet was a liar about the start time, still was there in time to see THUNDER. Negro Downey and Tom Cruise killed it, shit was too funny. The rest of the cast had their moments though for sure. The one line where Jack was tied up to the tree, you know which one, had the theater in fucking tears. Would recommend and will buy when it's released.

i didn't think it was that good....

No one said you had to like it this is a free country.

That being said I'm a huge fan of movies and consider myself to have a pretty keen eye for what makes up a good movie from a technical stand point as in does the movie deliver in the way movies of it's genre is expected to? For tropic thunder it's a HELL YES!

It wasn't just about how funny the movie was but also the natural chemistry between the cast (no homo) the references to how many things the film spoofed on, the impressive cameo list, in jokes, intentionally over the top action sequences integrated perfectly whilst keeping the audience in laughs through it. Just everything adding up in addition to the movie being funny in the traditional sense instead of that new age seth rogan random humor way made it an outstanding film and more importantly hilarious film IMO.

Dunno. Didn't find it all that funny IMHO. I appreciate some of the funny stuff they said but perhaps I wasn't in the right mood to witness this. Although I do have to say Tom Cruise was fucking intense and there was little to no way that anyone could not laugh at what he was doing. The one part when he talked about G5 and being a player.

It kind of worries me about the situation of my sense of humour right now since I know this is a great film and yet I probably laughed more at Get Smart this summer. I'm beginning to think that I'm too out of watching movies now since I've really slowed down on the amount of films I see. Even Wall-E I thought was alright even though I know it's better than most of the hackeyed shit out there.

Saw it yesterday.

Fake trailers were the best. Lot of funny moments, but overall it was kinda meh

As seems to be the trend lately, I got dragged to movie today out of chance since the person who I was going to hang out with invited by one of his friends who I rarely talk to.

It happened to be quite the fortunate occurence, especially considering how otherwise shitty today has been for me, since I ended up liking quite a lot.

I think part of the reason I found it so funny was because Negro Downey Jr. was like a parody of my father.

That and I was thoroughly lubricated by Satan's Alley--second only to Grindhouse's Thanksgiving preview when it comes to fake trailers--for everything to come.

I don't know why, but that scene of the little stick wielding asian girl smacking the shit out of Ben Stiller made me laugh with great gusto.

Girl?

Tran is/was a little boy. (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2801337/)

I saw it tonight as well. I had a lot of fun with it. Once I realized that it was Tom Cruise it just blew my mind. I didn't know that I missed his crazy ass till now.

Yeah. I didn't realize it was him until (I thought) he started enticing/hitting on Pecker with the G5 hilarity. I was floored since he's been so tight-assed lately and then to suddenly do this.

I also pleasantly surprised to see Steve Coogan was in this as well even though Hamlet 2 comes out tomorrow.

i want the avatar of downey in the mask and rice hat near the end with the 2 m4a1's

best pose ever

Will you share please? I want some of Zansetsu Downy Jr.

Who was that nerd kid, who was the smart one? I've seen him in something before, but I couldn't remember what.

I know it was already explained, but his name is Jay Baruchel (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0059431/).

They both said they didn't want to see the first 2, and one of them told the other one she could go see the 3rd one by herself -_- how the fuck do you think those are real movies?

The first trailer I could understand not wanting to see, in the immediate sense, since I was almost offended and embarassed before I realized it was a joke when the second trailer came on.

But to think that it was an actual movie when it was commerical ad is even dumber than thinking sequels to nonexistent movies would be coming, at least with advertisement of any kind--I guess they're stupid enough to be Leonard Part 6 (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0093405/) fans.

A part that I enjoyed a lot was when the director stepped on the land mine. The whole incident happened so quick and was so random that the audience didn't know how to respond.

I actually was expecting it, but it happened quickly and nonchalantly enough, coupled with Mr. Coogan's mere reaction of "Oh", that it was still hilarious.

Especially considering what Stiller's character did to the head. :looney:

Oh yeah. I LOVED that speech. Raw truth.

Nice to see that someone else loved the valid "I Am Sam" part.

The cocksucking part needed not be praised, for that would be superfluous.

All and all, this was a great movie that I'm glad I got "dragged" to since I never end up seeing movies by myself any more, even though I've all the time the world. (It's probably because of bad theatre experiences, grr....)

I loved that bit because of Radio (Cuba Gooding Jr.). I haven't seen the movie, but the previews had me SURE that Oscar they were desperate for was out of reach like the dragon in Heroin Hero (damn you stuckey).
Exact thought upon seeing Radio previews - "Don't retards have to be charming or some shit?"
That's what had the wide smile on my face and huge laughter pumping my chest when I heard the speech. RDJ saying "you went full retard, man" at the end still gets me chuckling.

I waited on a head shot when Coogan was giving the speech. The landmine caught me off guard.

I'm typing this from my phone. My friend wanted to see it, and I heard hype here on SRK, so I said aight. The trailers were funny, but the rest has been not so funny and I had to force some laughs. Its over half over and I was falling asleep, so I'm in the lobby typing this, waiting some more then going back in. I didn't laugh for like the last 20 minutes. :-/

Lead farmer bitch!

"Lead Farmer, Motherfucker!!!"

YESH!

I love that bullet time Saving Private Ryan moment when Portnoy was like, "MWAAAYYYY ASSSSSSSSSSSSSS MWAAAAAAAYYYYY ASSSSSSSSS!!!!"

Tugg/Stiller playing the retard for the guerrillas was just so wrong, "Mama, I'll see you again tonight in mah head movies- but this head movies makes my eyes rain!":rofl::rofl:

But the absolute best thing about this movie was the fictional actors' names: Tugg "Tuggnuts" Speedman, Kirk Lazarus, Les Grossman, Alpa Chino, Kevin Sandusky, Jeff Portnoy, and Rick Peck.

Easily the funniest movie this year. After seeing it for a 2nd time i still damn near pissed my pants for

Satan's Alley.
Toby and RDJ just the trailer music alone had me dying!!

what about Tom Cruise--hey hey where's the key grip? you go over there and punch him in the face.

That dude punched the shit out of the director.

This movie might be a classic.

Just saw this movie in the dollar theater. Really clever writing and great cast. The reason this movie is so great is because it is so unique. There are 1,30io33,0230,230 different teen comedies but this is the first fake war movie / real war movie comedy I've seen.

Alpa Chino Chinos is an awesome clothing line :)
