Troyboy's Back!

So ya I wake up this morning to go to work, go outside put my daughter in her car seat and walk around to my side of the car only to see my driver side window smashed in and my GPS missing. Brand new 2007 I've only had it for like 10 months, pretty shitty.

There where also a Camry and a 2007 Chevy Cobalt SS had there shit smashed and GPS's and iPod's taken too. How they break 3 windows and no one hears it is beyond me.

Well, that's my day in a nut shell, good day SRK.

If that seems to be happening often, the whole breaking windows to steal ipods/gps thing in your area, then you might want to invest in a motion sensor for your car alarm. It would detect if your window gets smashed. If you have the stock alarm and it's pretty shitty and doesn't offer that, try getting a different alarm, but more than likely you should have this option.

I wouldn't say he deserved it. No one deserves it. However, you do have to be a bit more mindful about personal property. I live in a relatively nice area now, as apposed to my previous living place, but I still remove whatever I can of value, because people are fucking thieves. No one "deserves" to have their car broken into and their shit stolen. That's like saying you deserved to have your child kidnapped at school by a pedo because you had a kid. Or a woman deserved to get raped because she wore a skirt. It's this type of backwards thinking where the victim gets blamed and not the criminal why bullshit regimes such as the Taliban ever existed.

People shouldn't have to worry about their stuff getting stolen but this isn't some perfect fantasy world so yeah, hide your stuff or take it with you.

you are a fucking idiot.

I'm not even going to fight that statement. You are absolutely correct. Many of the life situations I've been in have proven this too.

When I first moved out, I lived with my cousin and his roomate. The apartment was in the roommates name. Overtime I would get rent together. Then I found out in about 3 months (nov. 06) that we were getting evicted. We find out this guy wasn't paying the rent, but spending our money that we gave to him for rent. So then I got put out of a home and I was forced to live with my mother until about February.

I deserved having my money swindled and being thrown on the street, and reduced to living with my mother for 3 months. Why? I was an idiot for trusting a stranger with rent money.

My cousin beat his ass because of this. But I took no part in it, because I had already lost. I deserved it too. Dude hustled me basically.

I know you must be thinking, "what the fuck does this have to do with your valuables being stolen?" Nothing really. Just a mistake I payed for in the past. Everyone has to pay for mistakes in their life.

It boggles the mind how you fail to understand how an argument works.

I claimed that geography, not profitability, dictates whether buildings have underground structures or not:

You are retarded as fuck. Underground parking structures (and basements I might add) are almost 99.9% dependant on geographic location, not economic conditions.

You disagreed, claiming that geography had nothing to do with it, and that they were built solely for profitability:

I guess I've only visitted rich people that live in apartment buildings.

And no its not uncommon, you people are probably just ghetto as hell. They don't even build buildings anymore without underground parking because they make too much money off of them.

I then proceeded to dissect your claim, while at the same time supporting my claim, using scientific fact:

Frost depth measures how far the soil's water will freeze beneath ground level. Some regions have frost depths of several feet, others do not have any frost depth. Living in Toronto, a colder region of the Western Hemisphere, than say... Arkansas, USA, I'd suspect your buildings having lots of underground structures, but that's because building planners HAD to set their foundations far below the ground, not because they wanted your money. Realizing I am correct, and you’re an aborted fetus that somehow managed to escape the suction hose, you retort with, “well… whether it was because of frost depth or not, they still make tons of money off of underground structures”.

In summary - I make a claim, you disagree, making a counter-claim. I provide proof as to why my claim is correct, you realize you talked yourself into a corner, then try to say that it doesn't matter in the first place. Die in a fire bitch.

Are you trying to tell me that they couldn't build an underground parking garage because they dont NEED to set a foundation to a depth which would allow enough space for it?

Theres a difference between the need and the ability to do something. If they have the means to build one and don't then thats just fucking stupid.

I should also add that you're a fucking idiot. You take the time to research a pointless arguement so you can appear knowledgeable in front of people on SRK. . . people that are in capable of the simplest tasks in life. That really does suck getting your car broken into. Do you carry comprehensive coverage through your auto insurance company? Comprehensive coverage might help you replace your window (and any other theft related damage) minus your deductible.

Ya it would be "work" for someone as retarded as him.

As far as I'm concerned, after my 2nd post in this thread I didn't need to say anything meaningful, but when some fucking assclown refuses to quit, I'm obviously not going to read anything that douche bag has to say.

All I ever said was that garage's are common, which they are where I live. This guy comes out like a hostile fuckface saying they aren't because they don't have them where he lives. Then you got that Eldergod idiot comparing underground parking garage's to having a personalized airport. Its pretty unbelievable how stupid people can be

Underground (or under building) parking garages aren't safe either, as my friends can tell you.

Underground parking garages are also very much the exception, not the standard, at least in Seattle.

If anyone has a TomTom it's kind of funny how they show this image (http://www.prash.net/blog/wp-content/uploads/2007/12/tomtom_one_switch_off.jpg) to show that you should bring your tomtom along in order not to get it stolen. I feel for you man but it is true when they say that thieves (or fucking crack heads) will break into your car for ANYTHING even change in the cupholder.

I've always interpreted that image to mean, "Put that shit in your briefcase; don't just throw it into a bag and then sling it over your shoulder."

That sucks dude, but that was all you.

Years ago I had a real nice Clarion deck with a removable dace. I was lazy and left that shit on all the time. One night, some fucker smashed the window to get the deck, but that dude sucked and couldn't get it out. Still fucked it up in the process. Ended up costing me a little over $100 for the window and another $200 for a new, piece of shit deck.

In the immortal words of Vincent...

"Boy, I wish I could've caught him doing it. I'd have given anything to catch that asshole doing it. It'd been worth him doing it just so I could've caught him doing it."

Fuckers. From now on, I take that shit out of my car.

Things I've learned from this thread:

1. If someone steals something from you, you deserve it for having something nice. Quit being an overachieving asshole.

2. Apartment buildings only look like this: http://www.nicerent.com/mn_img/serviced/somerset/home_exterior.jpg

3. Underground parking is not only very common (never mind location, or any of that nonsense), it's where the big bucks are. Underground parking lots are the new real estate.

4. Parking garages and underground lots are completely safe. Nothing will ever get stolen in one of them.

5. Grammar only matters in school, particularly English class. It has no place in the real world. I have been wasting the past 8 years of my life with periods, commas and complete sentences. That shit went out the window when my diploma arrived in the mail.

Thanks for setting me straight, Internet.

I remember reading about this vehicle that had under mounted mini-flamethrowers (driver and passenger side) that activated if you tried to break into the vehicle. They had a video clip demo of them in action... god damn I would hate to be that car thief.

Let this be a lesson to anyone who has a car parked outside overnight, or even at anytime in the city.

ALWAYS leave any valuables, shiny things, bags, etc. either in the glove compartment, in the trunk or somewhere hidden where they cannot be seen. iPods, CDs, third party tuner thing attachments, etc. are all enticing for a thief. For people in school, this is ESPECIALLY for BACKPACKS, which scream at potential thieves "steal me" when its sitting in a car even in the student parking garage where many thefts happen. Even though the contents may not be important, it still gets a thief curious that there may be a laptop, or other valuables inside and is willing to smash the window, they don't care.

Even if there is nothing too valuable in the car, even keep LOOSE CHANGE hidden away, and don't leave them in plain sight in the coin holder. While a few dimes may not mean a lot to you, any bum wandering the street that sees coins in the coin holder is willing to break the window to grab them and that's it, much like at camping places where if a bear smells food in the car, it'll smash the windows to get inside. A few cents is never worth the broken window.

Out of sight, out of mind.

I guess I've only visitted rich people that live in apartment buildings.

And no its not uncommon, you people are probably just ghetto as hell. They don't even build buildings anymore without underground parking because they make too much money off of them.

You're fucking dumb. It's not even about the fucking ghetto. It's cultural fucking differences jackass. Yea I said fucking 3 times you bitch so what? Some apartment buildings here have parking garages, some have only street parking, some have gated entries with a parking lot and others have parking spaces in the back. I live in an community with apartment buildings and there are at least 3 off the top of my head that have underground parking but there's plenty more than have street parking and parking lots.
