Please post up if you're down for some online BF. I just got my copy last night, but I like it. Online is fun, but I'd like to get a good list going so we can hopefully play matches until our eyes bleed.

Almost all of the menus are in english, there's virtually no need to understand Japanese to play this game as a fighting game.

Lol, thats exactly what happens man, they use the lag and DV's priority to win. I guess I should expect it though.

Yeah, EC to WC really takes a toll on the lag. Couldn't hit confirm for shit. But at the end of the day j2C will net me a match or two.

Pig, I wasn't meaning to mash C on wakeup, I just couldn't time the moves right to do specials on wakeup. :( This is the first online fighting game I've played since CvS2 back in like 2002/2003, so I'm remembering what its like to deal with lag. :/

i was talkin about 2a. but anyway cedric is a charge char. like guile but thats the only thing;he dont play like guile tho. he get most of his combos off his charged drop kick(hold d then at max charge release). stuff to get you started

he also have like corner throw mixups like throw, 5C, 46A you can pressure them afterwards. you can also throw. 5c they recover walk in 2B, 236236A. 2B can connect to super and 2B can connect to drop kick. but yea you gotta always hold down d when playin with cedric. hope this helps a bit.

The fact that it didn't do so well for the arcade does not mean it's not a good ps3 fighting game.

Look, let me explain to you about arcades (in Japan).
Arcades (in Japan) have loads of fighting games coming out all the time. Some get ports, some don't. Some get good ports, most get bad ports, like ps2 games without 480p mode.

This is not the best fighting game ever, but that does not mean it's bad at all. It's actually great! True, if I were in an arcade I would play another game probably, but about all the reasons it's done bad in Japan does not mean you won't like it.

-First real ps3 fighting game
-First real ps3 online fighting game

Capcom or SNK fanboys hate everything Arc does and true Guilty Gear is a better game, but still it's not so bad. Perhaps Basara X will feature a 480p mode, but I'm not holding my breath.
I just had soem intense battles this evening and I'm still learning the basics. Still slaughtered some folks even though I only use the 4 basic buttons, don't dash, don't high jump and don't grab. Like I said, I'm just touching the surface.

And it's not full price at all, more like half price, which I actually do not understand at all. They could've charged the regular ps3 game price and I would still have bought it. And for those waiting for the us release, good luck holding you're breath and don't cry if it were to get cancelled!

Yeah, this game is pretty good. Like Arc's take on 3S with Disney mixed in and it's fairly balanced to boot.

In an interview with Arcadia, the BF developers said they were trying to make something very non-GG. So even though its an Arc game, it was intended to be Un-Guilty Gear for a reason (althought the execs eventually insisted they add some elements to make it more similar).

I'm very happy with this game too. It does have a bit of a 3s feel, but it feels much faster to me. I love the art direction of this game, and I really hope it gets sequel that tunes up the engine and adds some more characters.

Anyway, GGs DanielPlatinom, but those matches were laggier than the matches against Japan players. :(

How is the lag online play? lets say, bewtween people from WC to EC, or EC to Europe?

Anything like ggpo, ping 120-200 for west EU to EC?

I'd say thats about right. DanielPaltinom is in EU, I'm on EC, and we were getting like 200'ish ping.

Between WC and EC, its probably in the 120-160 range, but that seems to fluctuate almost daily.

Between EC and JP, its probably +200, but I only see 200 on the ping readout from BF. Like all online fighting games, it takes like a day or two to get used to, but once you can work within the lag, its not impossible to still play.

Oh, and just a word of advice, if you're the kind of person who gets annoyed by players who DC after they lose, don't play ranked matches. I've played at least 10 of the top 20 players in ranked matches, and nearly all of them DC'd after I beat them.

allright, i just tried playing online for the first time. while the ping was quite high, and therefore the matches weren't representative, one thing is clear:

this is not the good kind of netcode (the good one being ggpo or 2dfighter style).

bad ping means heavy input lag. the game never stops, only your input will get delayed, which makes the game pretty unplayable imo.
having to wait 2 seconds to see if the jump, or move, or chain you input actually worked is just wrong.

GG's to Magneto last night, the best connection we've had. Also, thanks for playing Face and Ashley, it gave me some really good ideas. Will hit the lab today after some MGS4.

Also, what's the button layout for arcade? Trying to play it on default on a stick is a bit cumbersome, especially with Cedric.

does anyone else have any problems with the connection. I have only played a few matches but each were very laggy. So much lag that it would take a little more than a second for each move to actually go through. It wasnt much fun. This is the only game that i have had this problem with on PSN. It also could have been the other persons connection. I will try a few more. I just wanted to see if anyone else had this problem.

I just beat Murase01. He is ranked #1. He did a nice gouchi trick, but I still beat him, it was close though:sweat: He probably can't play with lag, for me it is hard as well though.

He, DonValve butchered me 7 to 1 with me playing Urs. Urs does so little damage to Donvalve. Donvalve does so much damage to Urs. Plus all the unblockables Donvalve has. I want to play more because there has to be a way to defeat DonValve. It probably got boring for PiGnUtTz after a while. We had a decent enough connection. Good fun.

got a few matches in against someone named corou I think. He mained Urs. I tried Cedric, Face, and Coyori. I'm diggin' Cedric atm. We had a nice 58ms ping so it played pretty well.

EDIT: BTW, can you stay in the same room with the person you were playing? It seemed as if it would make me go back to the search screen after every match. I'm pretty sure I tried all buttons, but nothing :/ PS3 noob here <--

I played this guy named k-bas yesterday. He is very very good. I did get a few wins in, but if he wanted he could've won everytime. It was great!
We had a ping of 158 which played fine, very little lag. I too gotta play this game more and become better. This game rocks. Awesome stuff!

GGs, finally had time for a short set. You were the first person I ever played on this, heh. I play it more like ST, maybe I'll learn it properly soon. Still fun though, was a little laggy, still very playable.

Yeah, you can play BF on the PS3 since all the PS3 game are region free. It sucks that the story mode is in JPN though, but the game is never coming to the US (for PS3) so w/e...

360 got the JPN version out now and the US version coming this fall.

I can´t seem to find any games at all in network mode. Doesn´t matter whether I try ranked oder player matches, it just gives me some kind of error (?) message.
I´m using a Jap PSN account, so that shouldn´t be the problem. Any ideas?

I just received my copy today. Having the same issue as Jimbossas. I tried to play network games but when I go into any of the game types it always says no players found. My ps3 is connected via wireless and I set it in DMZ on my router but I can never find any players. Can some1 tell me how to get it working?
