View Full Version : iTunes alternative
I have ~60gigs of music on my comp and I hate the way iTunes organizes it. Are there any perhaps more configurable programs?
Sweet.

IMO iTunes is shit it's so fucking annoying. Not to mention the ipod being a bitch of a device. I mean seriously not being able to copy songs off of it back onto your computer?

Can ask what is so bad about the way itunes organizes the music?
It seems to work like any other music program and you can organize it in so many different ways and I can admit some of those ways are a lil annoying, which version do you have?

What exactly don't you like? if I'm not mistaken I think there are ways to customize how it sorts your shit. If you're taking about how it automatically sorts it into artist | album | songs, there is an option so that it doesn't do it automatically (under the Advanced tab under the preferences). Never used it, just an idea...
Or if you're just set on using something else... Winamp or XMMS. :P

ewwwwww :crybaby:
I've stopped using iTunes all together.
honestly the older versions of winamp are the way to go. very low memory footprint and work like a fucking champ.
I've always manually sorted my music, it may take a while but it's worth it in the end.
Also if you are having problems with it labeling folders and stuff incorrectly it's because the mp3 tag wasn't filled out entirely. you can right click properties to fix them.

Winamp's library is decent and the player is good for the plugins. But for organizing your files, MediaMonkey is my favorite. There are so many ways to customize the interface and stuff like editing tags and such is quick and easy.

Yeah, I'd say only use itunes if you have a mac. for PC though, I wouldn't recommend it.

if you are a DJ you are kinda stuck with itunes because of the way serato and torq find songs on your computer =(
i wish there was a better way besides buying all vinyl.

I find it hard to believe serrato will refuse to let me browse my PC and find my songs by myself, without iTunes.
Unlike MAC users PC users actually know where all the shit is on their hard drive. I have asked MAC people to copy to my external an album of this or that artist and they straight up didn't know where to look for the files on their computer. Maybe they were retarded, IDK.
Anyway yeah I hate how iTunes makes folders for this reason (mostly). If you import a mixtape instead of having the album in one folder it creates a different folder for each artist on the compilation. Retarded, I want to listen to the album all at once without clicking around.
Another good point was mentioned above, on PCs iTunes automatically launches a bunch of other processes without asking you. iTunes helper iPod services and etc.
If I could tell iTunes how to name folders that would be better, but in my version (7.6.1.9 for PC) that is not an option under the preferences tab.
