Sorry guys, I'm just not seeing how the Shotgun is good in the least.

I mean, its shoots so slow the stun properties are beyond useless with the gun.
You stunned them, ok? With the M4 they would've been dead by now.

And the knock down is useless as well, because by the time it takes for them to get it, they would've been dead by any other gun way before the knockdown.
And good luck getting head shots with that gun. Sometimes I can't even get a head shot on them even if they are lying asleep on the floor and my curser(?) is right on there head.

Not to mention how close you have to be to get the full effect, you might as well CQC.

The shotgun is just way too slow, and does not have the range to support itself.
At times, I find myself getting more kills with the handgun than the shotgun.

Gah.... ;(


I'd like to get good with the shotgun, but it just feels like I'm trying to play a low tier character for all the wrong reasons.

Apparently, I didn't know that when you send mail/applications, it goes by your character name and not your game ID. Anyway, my character name is Storm Eagle until I can find a way to change it(if there even is one).

I got my first victory playing Snake last night, so I'm pretty hyped on Sneaking Missions at the moment. Just like the single player game, the Octocamo works great especially on that dark rundown stage(don't know the name of it). I've had several people run by me unawares only to get their ass slammed from behind! :lol:

i have never seen a laser sight yet, except from my own team. but maybe people dont really use those, so i dont know.

The line from your teammates isn't a laser sight. It's their shot trajectory as estimated by SOP (so you can't see it anymore if Snake throws out a chaff grenade).

I think my two gripes right now are, no assist stat. Lot of teamwork goes into many kills, often. And shaking the Left Analog Stick does jack all still. Figured they'd make that beefier to shake holds within a reasonable amount of time.

Man.. yesterday I was stunned and was pissed off at the analog stick and i kept pointing it right hard.. and out of no where my controller shook and a whole bar of stamina was regained! I don't think it was lag either.. I think there is some pattern you have to follow to make it go up faster and make it jump up like how it did with me.

Just to let you know, you can't headshot with the first shotgun.. but you can with the 8000 DP one. I've tried it in training.

I've decided that I'm not going to be a shotgunner, though I have found a way to get it to work sometimes. Lure the player with the handgun, get behind a corner and when they appear blast the hell out of them. Of course, if there is lag you'll be dead before you see them come out of the corner... and the stun priorities for the shotgun are useless. Maybe if it didn't take an hour to reload for the next shot it would be useful.

yeah me too. some games i join theyre like really good. then other games i shoot someone and they run around the corner to reload, then they die in like 2 seconds. shits impossible to get kills sometimes when its like that.

I'm actually wondering how it would work on lvl 2-3 seeing as how the pump action would be faster.

I've been trying to play this every since my second MGS4 playthru, but I'm having a real problem staying connected for more than maybe 1-2 minutes at a time before I disconnect from the host. I have no idea why, as I can play other games online no problem. What's the deal?

What's going on. I kind of forgot to post here, assuming my subscription to the previous thread would suffice. My handle is Litvinenko. I'm mainly been playing TDM Drebin Points Mode because I whore the m14EBR and Sleeping Gas Mines.

Also Pozer, don't know if I read it here or somewhere else but if you L2 fast equip/de-equip your C.Box after the first shot of your shotgun, it's actually faster than pumping for a second shot. Oh the wonky world of MGO, haha.

Box can also screw up auto-aim. And Drum is just plain broken. I remember playing this rescue mission, where I just grabbed the duck and sat on my base in a drum until time ran out. No one could do jack shit about it.

Oh yeah, I can see that being broken as hell, I thought all bullets went through, but if it acts like a shield then damn. Speaking of shield though, has anyone tried the one you can pick in the game? Is it any good? I saw a few people using it but was never bothered to try it myself.

I heard it's useful only when you're trying to defend someone capture/rescue/base games, and I guess I could see how that would work, but I would never want to be in that position.

Useful for those occasions? Nah, not for me. Even when I was defending someone else I died then he died lol. Feels like the bullets go through the shield. I'll test it out more later on.

I've seen some very good shield usage. Most of it involves covering another guy, who is a sharpshooter and/or CQC/knife player. I suppose if you're quick, you can do it yourself, but I'm not that kind of player, so I really wouldn't know.

I've seen it used effectively as well. You can shoot at their legs if they're moving which takes about 10 full clips...protecting you from headshots and allowing the rest of your team to advance. I wouldn't use it without a mic though.

Naw I still suck at this game, running around with 4 level 1 skills while fighting people with the level 3 assault rifle skill is a pain in the ass. At least I have that Tekken game to fall back on, you should try to play that sometime.:wink:

I was messing around with the CQC moves and hints you guys hooked me up with and started thinking, "what if this happend to me?"

The move I'm talking about is grabing someone and pushing x, letting them go and then stunning them or just stabbing the shit outta them.

If you find your self on the receiving end, when the enemy brings you down and gets ready to let you go you can just mash up and x so that you dive away. It has worked for me mostly everytime.

Not sure how many of you know this, but if you wanna knife someone who's lying on the ground, you don't have to go prone to do so (I see a lot of people do this).

You can do it from the crouch position. Hold L1 with knife equipped. Press triangle to go into 1st person view. Look down and knife.

Just use auto aim on the knife. CQC toss, crouch, hold L1, R2 Secondary Fire Stun, R1 Primary Fire (press hard) Stab.

It's still so effective that I think advanced CQC techniques are worthless in comparison.

Online is so fun! The transition from the regular game to online was so seamless.

I got owned in one of my first few matches when I got the nightvision goggles, then someone I was looking for disappeared, only to find out that he hid in a box so I couldn't see his body lit up and got killed.

Right now my kill count is slightly higher than my death count, I'm pretty suicidal but it seems I'm getting used to playing opponents.

Damn, I don't know why... but I have no idea how to choke someone till there stamina is all the way down.

Some people say to just grab them and it does it on its own... which it does not for me.
Some people say you need at least QCQ +1 on, and I do an still nothing.

How do you choke someone?

On the sixaxis there are pressure sensetive L1 and R1 buttons. Hold strongly to choke them.

You need CQC level 1 on.. don't press any direction and press and hold the R1 button STRONG!!! That should choke them. Of course, the higher CQC level you have the faster there stamina will go down.. if you waste any time with CQC level 1 when you're choking they are bound to get out of it.

That sneak level was real good, that snake was no joke.
But the thing was, I was able to find that snake player quiet a bit mainly because in snowy stages you can still see snake breath (which I didn't know about till that game).

Once I found that out, I was able to get him.
But his tranqs are too strong, and in the end we lost.

Pick them up then drop them. The dog tag will pop out.

Btw, if you do this in other modes, you'll disarm the person (you can do it multiple times to take his side arm and special weapon [grenades] as well), just in case you didn't know.

Spent some time playing last night and it was good. Played on a non-lethal map with LockonStratos. Luring a guy to the top of a tower and trapping them with magazines was a perfect combination for plenty of kills (stuns).

You can do what Infinity Plus said, pick them up & drop them, or you can crouch next to them & hold triangle (just like if you were gonna wake someone up).

yeah gg's most def. I know I nade/blinded you a few times the last round KidZero, my bad (i keep throwing them like its COD4 and as we know.... it isnt).

GG to Haduken and YeahDood, but Haduken you gotta learn to stop popping out when I have the SVD aimming on peeps face, cause I hit/killed you a few times cause I'd see a guy, surprise him, shoot/you come out at same time and blam... SOP Alert lol. Once I get my mic it'll be alot easier to communicate with everyone so things like that will be prevented.


I think we should try to make a day and time (like a weekend afternoon or 7-10pm or something) where we can get atleast 10-16 srk peeps on, in our own server, play and get used to each others strengths, and weaknesses. Because when it comes down to it, if played right these maps can easily be held down, theres so many chokepoints its not even funny. Anyways, Imma hop back on in a few, ttyl.

In all seriousness, I tried the shotgun for a bit a few days ago, I did okay, like 30-18 or so in most games, then I switched to the M4 (Without mastery) and went like 4:1. Do you get the ability to knock people down with shotgun AA at Level 2 or 3 SG mastery, 'cause I had Level 1 at the time.

Unless I mis-read, there are clan rankings.

They are ranked (at the moment) based upon how good everyone else is in the clan.
So giving the average number of how many people points/ranks are in the clan determines the clan's rank.

Or maybe I could be just completely wrong and mis-looked it for something else.
Otherwise, can't confirm until later tonight... or something...

The capture the base matches were too good. But my team-mates rarely went ahead to cap a base every now and then, blah!!! There were matches were like I was the only one capping bases, but in the end all I did was stall time because you'll would win ;o

I managed to ghetto fix my situation by (I'm not sure if any of this actually technically helped but my connection has been infinitely more stable) turning off UPnP and setting a "stable" port manually in network settings. i was playing nothing but knife matches on friday. i mastered my knife skills in about 2 days. just play in knife only matches. it took me about 7-10 games i think. about 200 knife kills? just a guesstimate. but it's definitely worth it.

not sure if it's been mentioned yet, i didn't realize this until today but you can do a lean when in zoom/first person view with sniper rifle. just press left or right on the d-pad. probably works with rifles too. not sure how much of your body is covered when doing this.

Team Sneak is an attack/defend mode. The defenders have default equipment while the attackers have stealth camo but are equipped only with a tranq pistol and knife. If an attacker is "found" by taking damage from a defender, the whole team loses their stealth ability for a few seconds. Also, the ENVG is still available so usually it becomes a mad dash to get it first. It's a great mode if you can get some actual teamwork from everyone.

I typically don't use the first person view unless I'm making a long distance shot on an unsuspecting target.

But, unless the gun has a scope its not even really worth it. With the scope add-on, however, jumping into first-person is great.

They make you pay for a new character slot and the expansion comes with one, I wouldn't imagine it would be *pay for feature* but then get *feature + new maps and females and new playable characters for free*...I welcome it if that's the case tho. Yeah, wtf? Like, you can play this even without headsets and get the gyst of what your teammate wants. All we need is some fucking cover fire and we're golden. Most of the people I've encountered lack teamwork and just want to go about their own way because they are "the best" on MGO, which is bullshit.

Yeah, those dudes are good. There was this one other game I was playing where they let the opposing team get control of rooftops and destroyed my team by 50 kills. It was horrible. They only managed like, 20 kills total. Final score was 364 to 41. So horrible.

Lastly, I know the PS3 has some certain ports that it goes through, does anyone know which ports I should have open on my router (MGOs in 5000 range I know that, but generally for the PS3 what is it set at)? Because I'm getting tired of having a 15mbit/2mbit connection acting like it has 200+ping online.

They make you pay for a new character slot and the expansion comes with one, I wouldn't imagine it would be *pay for feature* but then get *feature + new maps and females and new playable characters for free*...I welcome it if that's the case tho. In one of the last games tonight I literally had a guy's head in my crosshair for three seconds while he was facing another direction. And shot 3 single bullet right through his skull. Does he die? Well yeah, but only after he turns around and takes one shot at me. Oh, and I didn't even get the kill. Lag's a bitch I guess. Unless something more sinister is going on.

The crappiest thing tonight was running to the opposition (You and Sep's team) laying down some SG mines and waiting patiently in a box. But the respawn area in GG is pretty big, so I waited like 10 min. Then finally someone trips one! Then right when I go for the kill another guy spawns and shoots me in the head. For ten minutes no one spawns in the right area, and in four seconds two spawn one after the other...

Anyway, that last game sucked, but the rest of the games tonight were pretty cool. I can't stand when people turn off life bars on your opponents. I emptied multiple clips of D.E. into some of those fuckers and still didn't get any kill.

Some crazy ass games yesterday up to 3am. The day started off with me,sonickun,kombo kaze & eminent. Yeah dood was there too. It was fun but the other team mates other than srk would not work in a team. I think thats around the time yeah dood and kombo kaze left. I was pretty mad so I started beasting. Sonic Kun was beasting too as well as eminent. Without them I would have not got first 9 times that night. People were shocked and witnessed srk's true form...the beast!:mad:

Long story short we dominated that night and people were hating on all 3 of us. They hated us so much that sonickun was kicked out of the room that I WAS HOSTING!:arazz: I got pissed so I ended the game with out letting other people host it. So thats pretty much the long story short. We beasted for a consecutive 9 games. I just wished kombo kaze could have seen it. He would be so proud.:sad:

P.S. There was a member from GET VIP I can't remember his name but he was there for a short while. He was pretty good too.

I usually get on when Sep gets on(I'm EC and he's WC, so 3 hour difference). On weekdays it's usually after midnight(EC time). Dunno about weekends yet, though.

:wonder: GGs to everyone I've battled with over the last 2 weeks. I finally got my laptop fixed so I'm able to post again. Well, I still had my PSP and PS3 but :bluu: posting with the controller is wack.

Also, really fun matches last night with BE VIP clan, J-Nav and a few SRK Clan members that showed up. We were on fire last night. :rofl: I didn't have a chance to do my Drebin 120% routine where I go around stealing weapons from the enemy then launder them to my teammates but I did choke a hell of a lot of mofos lights out which is always a plus.

Oh yeah, my bad Ban C. Hammer (Septimus Prime?) about choking you in that Middle East hotel. :xeye: There were four people in the room plus one outside but I screwed up and grabbed the only one from my team. :shake: I was trying to do like I did one time when I walked in there and there was three guys, I grabbed one used him as a shield, killed the other two with my Operator, then choked the human shield guy out but this time things went wrong... horribly wrong.

I'll be on again today when I get back from the movies around 3pm. :rock: CQC... dood!
