I'm curious to hear everyones media listening preferences. This extends to concerts, cds, mp3s, movies, tv and anything else you can hear or watch.

320K MP3S (if not cd quality) when listening at home through some good quality sanheisser headphones, if I had more money a surround system would be my preference. when going to a show if depends on the venue, but always with earplugs and if it's a band with a lot of members in a relatively big place, i try to find a spot by the soundboard to get a good sound.

MP3's mostly, not too picky about quality but I like having them at least 192.

I listen to FLAC whenever possible. I used to have some beefy Grado SR-80's, but I've had to downgrade to IceMat Siberia's.

Same here, most of my shit right now is FLAC, only really old stuff I don't bother with and listen to as mp3s.

MP3s at 256. 192 is ok too, but 256 seems to be the magic number or turning point between something sounding good and bad. If anyone claims they can tell the difference after 256, they are full of it.

I prefer Ogg Vorbis over MP3s, but up until I started using Rockbox on my iPod, they were impractical, so most of my music library is MP3 and AAC.
As for movies, I prefer AVI + divx.
I also stream radio, but anything below 64kbps is unlistenable for me.
foobar2k -> mp3 at 320k -> sound card -> stereo -> akg 271s or alessandros
outside of home: ipod with westones

True, you can notice a difference in clarity and especially base but anything 320 kbs sounds just like 256 to me.

I've used Foobar for a while, but I can never figure out how to customize it to look sexy as fuck. It seems too complicated, otherwise I'd use it.

Yes it took me a while to get mine running how I wanted, but I think I did a pretty nice job (http://i31.tinypic.com/15oc9rm.jpg).I just checked out the forums for anything helpful, they even have this app that helps you download album art and stuff, pretty nice.

most of the mp3's on my HDD are 192, maybe a couple 256's in there but not much.

vinyl plz
also tapes. seriously.
I buy/listen to things on vinyl when I can. It's certainly my favorite medium.
I'll second the nod to tapes. Still love them.
But for digital, I rip everything as flac now. If I do an mp3 for some odd reason, it'll be at 320kbps.

I don't understand .ogg or .flac, I dont hear the difference
The most listening I do is .mp3 or .aac (itunes converted), broadcasted from my iTrip and onto my car radio through 87.9 AM. If I am on foot, I use some Sony earphones, dont really know what brand, but I usually don't bring my ipod with me when I get out of my car.
Occasionally if I don't feel like going through the menus and shit while I'm driving, I'll pop in a CD. I still like CDs too.
Nothing beats live hip hop though.
I don't go indepth with listening to music, if I can find it free and the quality isn't as good, I'll still take it. I use ipod headphones when ever I'm riding my bike, and if I'm in the car I'll either use a cassett tape thing to hook up on my ipod or burnt cds, I think the cds are 125.

<---- Is to stupid to really know the difference, I just watch and listen to it in whatever format it is in.

I can't really tell the difference, but all my mp3 are at 320 kb. Why settle for anything less as long as you got the room?
