I've been reunited with my mom :)

So as many of you remember, about a year and a half ago, I made a thread about how I hadn't seen or heard anything about my mom in over 10 years. I found her on Myspace not long after making that thread and have been exchanging messages and phone conversations and giving each other updates about our ongoings and so on and so fourth. But we hadn't yet reunited face to face. Not because we didn't want to but she lives in Arizona and I live in California.

In any event, last Wendsday, I got a message from my cousin Jennifer (who lives in Korea) that she was going to fly into LAX on Thursday and wanted to know if she could pick me up here in Riverside so we could go to San Diego and hang out and see my grandmother, my aunt, and my other cousin on Saturday? I said ok fine because I think of her as my sister. So on Saturday, she picked me up, and we went to San Diego to see my aunt and my grandmother. It was good to see them but what struck me as odd is that both of them at different times asked me if my mom knew I was here. I said no and didn't think anything of it for the rest of the day.

Jennifer and I then went to lunch at this dope Thai restraunt in downtown SD and caught up on things. We ate and walked near the beach and sweated our asses off because it was not only hot but very humid. So then around 4, Jennifer got a phone call saying that Gwen (my mom) was at my grandmother's house. She told me this and I'm shocked. Jennifer didn't know my mom was there and then I realized what my grandmother and aunt ment when they asked if my mom knew I was there. There had been confusion at the house because no one told my mom nor me that I was coming down to SD. Needless to say, I was fucking blown away. So after stressing out, Jenn and I drove back to the house. As soon as I open the car door, I hear my mom say 'Brandon-wandon' as she did when I was little. I turned my head because I burst into tears. We gave each other a hug and cried and cried and cried. One of my biggest fears upon wanting to reunite with her was that she would be a totally different person. But aside from a full head of dreadlocks, she is exactly the same which made me very happy. This whole weekend has been a trip.

So happy I am. But she had to go back to Arizona today. :(
