when i'm watching television the picture keeps flashing from time to time like its gonna go out or something,......bad picture tube ?

I think I have seen what you may be talking about.

Make sure your TV is not in auto aspect mode. Choose an aspect ratio i.e. zoom, stretch, or 4:3. Sometimes when watching regular programming on cable/air the show may be in widescreen but the commercials might in 4:3 or something weird and when the monitor is in auto mode it jumps back and forth causing what looks like a glitch or flash.
