I just flipped through Witchblade comics a decade ago, so I'm not a fan but, I know this is a big loss in the comic world. Talk about totally out of left field.

jeez top tier artists are dropping out of nowhere. man. i read pretty much everything he did. im not even sure why....i think everything he drew had an interesting story to me...cuz his art was never great but sumtin about witchblade and aspen just sucked me in. especially aspen...that whole world was fascinating to me.

this is shocking and sad, Witchblade was the first comic that made me seriously start collecting. one time after a convention he was done signing books for the day and i asked for just one signature for a book i bought specifically for him to sign earlier. a lot of creators say no, that there are scheduled times, but not him, he had no qualms at all, signed it and was super nice about it. sad to think of all the great characters that he won't draw. R.I.P.
is his comic label still in buisness...i havent checked up on him in a while but i remember he was producing aspen spin offs under his own label. whats gonna happen to it, if its still goin.

Terrible news.
I had heard he was getting worse, but was hoping he'd bounce back like he had those other times.
One of, if not the nicest guys in the industry.
Totally humble and loved what he did.
Condolences to all of Aspen, his friends and family.
Bad day.

Way too Young!
When I collected comics when I was younger, some of the comics I bought were because of his Variant Covers!

I know he was fighting cancer for a while now, but I was hoping he'd pull through. He got me into reading Witchblade back in high school and was one of my references when I drew. I remember @ the National ppl were mobbing him, and he was about to leave, but he was nice enough to sign my WB collected edition, the Wizard ACE cover he did of Sara in the ripped red dress.

RIP Michael Turner.
When he was really doing regular books, I wasn't reading comics but a number of his covers were excellent. I honestly was wondering what happened to him but this is sad news.

man, this sucks. he was def. one of my favorite artists ever since i started collecting comics. hell i bought the trade of his run on superman/batman strictly bc of his art, and i don't even read DC comics. his civil war cover with Iron Spidey has got to be my favorite work of his. you will truly be missed.

This guy was truly a great artist, his way of drawing females is unbelievable. Especially in the Superman/Batman - Supergirl arc.

I was never a fan of his art and probably never will be, but his long back-and-forth battle with cancer was inspiring. Sucks that it had to end this way.

RIP Michael Turner as a manager at a Comic shop I remember when he first came on the scene. He was an awesome amazing talent and also a real nice guy. I remember reading an old Wizard article on his struggle with cancer. God bless Mike I will surely miss your work. Say whatsup to Mike Wieringo up there who just had a What If tribute come out last week dedicated to him. I hope Marvel or someone else would also do a tribute.

This is extremly sad, I respected the hell out of him and his work was so incredible and unique, he was one of my fav comic artists.
it's really is a tragedy and he died so young, I really don't even know what to say.
May you rest in peace
and Thank you for being such an inspiration
man I'm quite sad about this. He was my first comic based artist I really respected. He always said the best imagery always came from dreams, so that's why I started keeping my sketch book near my bed, for quick 3 am sketches.
Rip Micheal Turner you will be missed.
Last artwork I have of Michael Turner's is the Spider-Man / Red Sonja crossover where he provided the covers. It's also the last story that revolves around a love story about Spider-Man's marriage, prior to Marvel making him and MJ go splitsville, dang... Well thanks for the pretty gift wrapping via covers for the last go around for us marriage fans Michael Turner. My condolences go out to your friends, family and loved ones.

I'd heard his cancer had come back last year, which was a real shame for someone so young.
I wasn't a fan of his art by any stretch of the imagination, but he was a very nice guy at Conventions, and didn't ever seem like the sort who believed his own hype. Very humble, and very personable. He will be missed.

honestly i loved fathom more than witchblade. and i like how the series will continue even after his death..i think the best thing that can happen to an artist/creator is his creations outlasting him and continue to entertain people.
plus he had a protege in talent caldwell...dude got his style but mixed in with his own..like anime meets michael turner.

I'm on Jay Company Comics' mailing list and they sent me this E-mail today -
Hey Everyone-
This week the Comic Con International kicks off in San Diego. And this show is unlike any other in history. It’s not because it’s the largest of its kind. Or that the attendance will shatter all previous records. Or that just about every film star and media darling will make their latest announcements here…
For us, the real difference is what is going to be missing from the convention- MICHAEL TURNER. Surely you’ve heard the tragic news as reported on sites such as Newsarama.com or Comicbookresources.com, or the various message boards. For us, it’s really hit hard. JayCompanyComics started doing the convention circuit right when Witchblade launched. We made sure we represented our then fledgling business to just about EVERY show Mike attended- from Los Angeles to Charlotte, Phoenix to Orlando, Pittsburgh to Seattle, San Francisco to Philadelphia, Chicago to San Diego…
JayCompanyComics.com cannot express anything new what hasn’t been said about the greatness of Mike Turner. Seeing his friendly smile, and his constant enthusiasm made it feel great to be in business with this Giant of the Comics industry. We will always be thankful for the time, care, and compassion of Mike…
If you guys are coming out to the San Diego show, there will be a special MICHAEL TURNER panel presented by ASPEN on Sunday July 27. Bill and Jimmy S. Jay will most probably be locked into our booths on the show floor, but our hearts will be with Frank and the entire ASPEN CREW.
R.I.P. Michael Turner
i'm speechless.
i loved his style. I know a lot of people said he was starting to churn out the same kind of drawings, but even if you agreed, you were still impressed with his ability. I used to always give deference to the titles on which he worked just because he was on it.
the comic community has lost a great artist.

Nah, it looks like he was originally contracted to do it, fell too ill to finish it, and they cobbled something together at the last minute.
I'm almost 100% sure that's what happened.
I can check next week, though, to get the actual word.
