Er, no? The game isn't very popular but I haven't seen any reviews at all, and a small number of people really like the game.

Taking out the infinites is a nice bonus though. Just hope they don't muck up anything else in the process.

Minor annoyance, but not the first time Aksys choice of consoles to release for locally has been weird. Shikigami no Shiro III was only released on Wii, but Japan gets a 360 version, so much for playing with a stick.

Yeah it's a weird choice, but do consider that the PS3 is region free while the 360 version isn't. For dopes like me who only have a 360, it means I can actually get the game without having to snag a PS3.

I don't think there have been any official reviews of the game. All of the 'blog reviews' I've seen were all positive though, not that that's worth much. Like I said, it's more that the game just doesn't have any popularity than anything else.

Pretty much. Anything that doesn't appeal to the readers doesn't get scored well usually. I take reviews with a grain of salt and go by the developer or word of mouth, though reviews are a nice help by pointing out the incrediably shitty or the sleep hit.

On their computers, it says active (when I tried to reserve it yesterday). I just called today to see if they had it, and it's no longer on the release date, which means that it's out, but the GameStop's have not received them yet. I would check tomorrow; most of the time, on their website or on their computer, when you see the date (for example, this game) 09/16/08 means that it shipped to the other stores and most of the time, the stores get them in the next day. Then again, you might find it around a Walmart or Best Buy now if you really look for it.

I just checked the websites for Best Buy and Circuit City, and they didn't have it listed online. However, Amazon says it will be in stock on September 18th:

i played BF most of the time i was in Japan over the summer and got some good play sessions with some people who still were playing the game

it's been awhile since i'm in switzerland now for the semester (ps3's with sister in the US :shake:)

imo Cedric's better than everyone but i dunno if he deserves his own tier; at the very least the cast divisions aren't too big in this game I think

a patch was recently released for the ps3 version, but the only difference i notice is that you can pick bgms independent of the stage chosen (kinda like ggac)

doesnt seem to be any balance changes :/

the game doesnt really need any changes though, though watson could stand to do more/take less damage, and not be such garbage at level 1

cedric drop kick should probably take longer than like 5 seconds to charge to level 3 also

if everyone took game review sites seriously we probably wouldnt even be playing fighting games right now. for some reason the game reviewers never seem to "get" fighting games.

although the general consensus here seems to be that it is a fun and well made fighter, i have a feeling it might end up as a 'niche' game with a tiny community. i hope i am wrong though.

i will probably buy this if the netcode is good. fuck it, ill buy it if the netcode is *tolerable*. gotta show support for games that arent all instant airdash and whateverthefuck cancel happy. i like guilty gear and all, but recent games seem to put way too much emphasis on manual dexterity and stupidly long combos.

This game is much more Guilty Gear than Street Fighter. Combos are plentiful and almost out of control. I imported the PS3 Asian version and find it to be really fun and interesting. I'm more of a SF/KoF player myself, so I'm still getting used to the combo system. I've played online a few times and it was very cool.

Hey Buktooth, are there any ways to combo into heat activations, or do them during specials? For some reason I remember reading that if you do specials with A+C you go into heat mode while in the special, but I haven't been able to pull it off. Any tricks for how / when to go into heat mode?

Hey Buktooth, are there any ways to combo into heat activations, or do them during specials? For some reason I remember reading that if you do specials with A+C you go into heat mode while in the special, but I haven't been able to pull it off. Any tricks for how / when to go into heat mode?

the easiest way to combo into heat up is to land a gachi drive (bounce parry). bounce parry -> jump + activate -> do whatever

this is particularly important for deathbringer

other than that, you can heat up as you're performing the first move in a combo

for example, freed can quickly pull out heat + overhead rush punch with b,f + A+C+B

A+C performs the heat up, b gets you the rush punch overhead

basically think of it as heat up having no start up or recovery frames, but you can't do it in the middle of a move. you can't activate coyori's heat up in the middle of a combo, for example (that would be pretty messed up, too)

so basically, if your character has good heat up combos (deathbringer, urs, coyori, etc), activate it after gachi drive or right as you do the first hit of the combo (generally in big punish situations like after blocking a dp)

- no ashley infinite
- can't do meaty command grabs

and yes, you can turn these back on in the options menu for both consoles

They supposedly tweaked the US 360 version some more, or I think that's what Aksys said anyway. They said they removed 'all known infinites', which I guess would include Watson and whoever else had one (I think marco or Urs had one?).

Edit: Yeah no EBs have the game within a 450 mile range of where I live. 'Limited Quantity' might be putting it lightly.

can you elaborate more on this? the 360 version doesn't even have the music select that was introduced in a recent patch on the ps3

also people, go to your options -> display options and turn Sort Filter to Off. i dunno why its set to on by default, but it makes the game all low-res looking

Original has some big glaring problems, mostly meaty throws being almost inescapable by half the cast and Ashley's bullshit corner infinite as well as apparently some other console specific bullshit that was eventually found.

I'd say stick to the fixed mode since it's a lot more bullshit free, but I'll play whatever.

So, how about those secret achievements, lol? I've got two thus far, one with Donvalve and one with Urs - if the pattern holds I think each character has a secret achievement based on doing something they don't tell you about in the move list.

The lag is compensated by the fact that this game has lenient as shit input recognition and you can take literally 3 hours to input some moves and they'll still come out. The hardest thing I've found so far is doing Urs's cr.B cr.B cr.B kara cancel into 236D and I can still pull it off online most of the time.

So, I just fucked around with pad since my stick execution for 2D games is dreadful and this game plays very well on the 360 pad. I only dropped combos due to me actually fucking up and not the pad working badly, pretty nice. I even managed to land Urs's Gatchi Drive combo 100% consistently and Deathbringer's midscreen heat up combos.

Prolly gonna play pad for this game from now on.

Gachi is a button on its own. The arcade controls iirc look something like:
ACG
BD

So yeah you have to hit RB every time you want to Gachi. Heat up!/throw are the only button combinations in the game.

"parry push" is probably Gatchi Drive, do you Fw+Gatchi or DnFw+Gatchi instead of just pressing the button.

Got mine in today finally. I noticed the manual has some font errors in the character moves lists, like they forgot to translate some Japanese text or something. Too bad my internet connection is such shit or I'd be online playing. :/

The netcode for this game is actually pretty good. The games that I played with eddymasta and shinto had no lag or a miniscule amount of lag, but I ended up playing some random guy and got owned because the lag was horrible. I guess it all depends on where you live since me and shinto are less than an hour away from each other.
