Anyone here a longboarder? What's there to look for in a longboard? I want to cruise around town, and hit some paved paths, with occasional downhill. How much am I looking to spend? What's a good brand?
What's good in terms of trucks, bearings, and wheels?

I've only longboarded once, it was down a hill at like 3am and when I reached the bottom, I ate shit hard on the pavement below. Never longboarded again
But it was fun while it lasted!

I don't own one, but whenever I get a chance I hop on. I love bombing hills.

My shop sells some longboards. Mostly people come in looking for Sector 9 boards mostly, so that's really all that I know about. But I do know they are one of the better companies as far as quality products. Cadillac wheels are good too, cadillac makes some good soft carving wheels that are really popular.
As far as bearings are concerned, I only use bones swiss, there really isn't another kind of bearing that is better.
You may want to check out the skateboarding thread, because there may be some others here that longboard as well as ride regular skateboards.

If you had a full-face helmet at the time, do you think you would be longboarding now?

I heard of sector 9, dewey weber, rayne, and landyachtz. Are these any good? Shin AkumaX I got your message. Thanks.
Should I buy an individual deck, and build up, or get a fully assembled one?

You bet your ass
It was fun as hell.. I was mad plastered though. I guess I can attribute the crash to that. It would be a killer way to get around

There was a park behind my complex my brother long boarded it at. He said it was a blast.
I might try it with him when I move back.

Buying a complete might be good to start, but eventually you're going to change parts out for better stuff (bearings, wheels, then trucks, etc.)
You're going to want to look for wheels that are tailored to how you ride, again though, if you're just starting out get general purpose ones until you ride a bit.
Personally, I ride a short board.

Get some good bearings. They really affect your ride. Pay attention to wheels too. Don't skimp there.

Yeah I have to agree, longboarding seems like skateboarding but with less available stunts.
Thats why I'm trying wave boarding! Anyone else knows/does it? Its pretty fun, though its pretty fucking slow if ur going upward.

They look cool. Starting to get popular in the city. But are they illegal on the road in Ontario?
