The SF4 Tier Thread

Since this game have been out for a about a couple a weeks now, and its been comfirmed that once "low tier characters" (Boxer and Rufus) have been Improved greatly. (Rufus is debatable since people never really played him) I was wondering what was the tier is now. Im NOT plan on being a tier whore oor anything (never was, dont think I will ever be)

Just want to know if anyone got a idea of what the tiers are now. I aplogize if this have already been said/answered/too soon etc.

Also is the game tier like MOTW like tier (poven low tiers can own high tiers with a really good player)
or
MVC2 tier (only a few dominating the game and the low tiers dont stand a chance)

Psh...if only a few characters dominate this cast, then it will still be most of the cast dominating. That's what happens when you can count the cast on one hand. MVC2 has 56 characters. SF4 has 16 characters. There's hardly a basis for comparison.

In my own experience using him and in all the vids of seen of people using him, the opponent always lets him get by on stupid stuff like not realizing how to get away from ex running bear grab, letting him empty jump into spd/super, sitting there to get tick thrown instead of dragon punching or jumping away, and jumping at him instead of forcing him to come to them. I still think he'll be high tier, but no way will he be running the show like he is now.

He can be zoned pretty well with some characters... actually I've had a lot of success with Viper against him. Her back and HK not only is great anti-air, but knocks him down. She can harass him with flame kicks if he sticks out low moves, or thunder knuckles while keeping away from SPD range, and then you can do the occasional Seismo when he leaves himself open. Of course, FP Thunder Knuckle is also a great anti-air, but as CFAY pointed out, back + HK is much better, as long as you time it right and space it right.

It's kind of weird, but if Viper were to have major success turtling, it would be against Zangief. If you play Viper normally against Zangief, it would be a bad idea because it would give him free SPDs all day after bread and butter combos.

I don't know how they expect Honda to deal with fireballs in this game. He has no mobility, for one thing. His dash is slow, his walk speed is slow, regular hands are stationary, and even ex hands aren't fully controllable, they just move forward or back at a steady, slow speed. His jump is alright, it gets higher than his jumps have in the past, but I don't think that's really gonna cut it. Buttslam has a great hitbox, but it can be seen from a mile away and still has some recovery at the end. That said, Fortress of Crouching Honda seems about as solid against non-fireball characters, hands aside.

man Sonic Boom is massive in this game. Not a chance in hell for jumping it easily.

As far as how honda deals with fireballs. He can just saving attack dash cancel. He can at least build meter. But fireballs are still a pain in the as for everyone even with that. Especially the biggies like honda and gief.

Well...the only way to do that would to either have only one character in the game or throw in parries so everyone can do anything. This is why they put parries in 3S. So anyone can do anything they want. This is true fighting. Extreme acid trip chess.
