I know it may be too early, but will Capcom inform fans of the minimum PC specs needed to play SF IV before it is released home? I wanna upgrade my PC so I wanna know what to buy. What do you guys think?

The specs will probably be very modest. Fighting games don't have much to render; two full character models and a background. Remember, VF5 ran on a P4 3ghz and 6800GT.

I've got a FAQ on my site that attempts to answer this question.

http://www.eventhubs.com/guides/2008/jul/25/frequently-asked-questions-faq-street-fighter-4/

The Taito X2 board resembles a PC pretty closely, so I assume that the specs shouldn't be far off from that.

Here's a copy and paste from my site.

Q: What kind of PC will I need to run Street Fighter 4?

A: Street Fighter 4 runs on the Taito Type X2 arcade system board, so the assumption is you'll need a PC that's similar to those specifications. Here's what powers the Taito Type X2.
Taito Type X2

* OS: Microsoft Windows XP Embedded SP2
* CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6400/Pentium 4 651/Celeron D 352 (up to latest Core 2 CPUs supported by the chipset)
* Chipset: Intel Q965 + ICH8
* Monitor: 720p/1080p/1440p HD LCD Monitor
* RAM: DDR2 667/800MHz (512MB/1GB, up to 4GB)
* GPU: PCI Express x16-based graphics. Support cards include ATI RADEON X1600Pro/X1300LE or nVIDIA GeForce 7900GS/7600GS/7300GS, up to latest graphic cards (Radeon HD 3800 or Geforce 9800 series)

There's more on that page too.

hmmmm. Do you need a dual core processor, and also will DDR1 RAM be ok? I will just buy the upgrade parts anyway, just curious

Hard to know what you'll need for sure. Capcom could scale down the game so it runs on lesser hardware.

Certainly wouldn't hurt to have a dual core though.

I doubt it would require a dual core. Crysis does not require a dual core.

Pretty sure once the home versions are announced you'll get an idea of what specs you'll need. Just aim for a system similar to the one used in the X2 board and you'll be fine. From the sounds of it, you need to upgrade anyway.

i doubt the specs should be any more demanding than something like half life 2. Especially since the pc version would probably have graphical options, like turning off lighting/shadow effects.

Quick quesiton-
If I'm using the LOWEST graphic options and am challenging someone online who uses the HIGHEST graphic options umm would that affect the gameplay in any way?

It doesn't in any other game ever, so I'd guess no.

Its 2008, if you dont have a dual-core processor its time to upgrade regardless of SF4.

1: there's a tech talk section for questions like that
2: if it did your game manual/random FAQ would tell you
3: good thing you asked a general Q in the SF4 forum, as that is the purpose of this area
