Tournament Standard?

I know this has probably been discussed elsewhere on this forum, but I couldn't manage to find it.

Anyways, is there going to be a standard console used for tournaments for SFIV? I'm assuming that it will be the 360 because it seems like a greater percentage of people have one, but I could be wrong.

The main reason why I'm asking this is because I have neither a PS3 or 360 and want to buy one, but I'd prefer to have the one most commonly used, especially because I need to know which one to buy a stick for.

Proably ps3's for evo, because they already use them for tekken dr.

But, thats more of a national toruney, for regional tournaments and local tournaments im guessing they will both be used.


Just buy your self a console of choice and sticks(or controllers) for both consoles, at least thats what i might do.

You'll end up with a split community.

Same crap SC4 is getting. They're determined to make PS3 the legit version, when most people are preferring the 360 between the two versions. Watch SC nationals use PS3, and WCG use 360.

If cross-platform PC-360 play happens, 360 should be standard, otherwise both consoles should be standard.

I don't know that's a tough call but I have my money on xbox for home play just becuase there are more owners. More owners means more competition. As far as tourneys I have no idea.

Why would you say that I don't think that has ever been the case in any multi plat game in this gen. Call it a hunch but I think playing on live might be better than the PSN.

Haha most every multiplatform game looked and ran better on 360 than its ps3 counterpart.

My money is for the 360 version for home/online play and then ps3 for tournys only cause most people have ps2 sticks and those pelican adapters.

All and any official tournaments should ideally be run on arcade, otherwise wouldnt it depend on which version is closest to the arcade?

3s tournaments arent run on xbox cos xbox has live or any reason like that, theyre run on PS2 cos its the more accurate version.

In which case we dont know yet. Just get whatever console your mates have if the time comes you got the wrong one trade that shit in!

Thats a whole lotta crap. i'm not a ps3 fan boy. I don't even own one! I own a 360 for the fact that it has an economic advantage(more games..etc.) and better online.
But I've been around enough Ps3s to tell you that it is a superior console in terms of graphics and performance. Look up the specs on the ps3 and then look up the specs on a 360. You need to look at those multi platform games way harder and rub the bias out of your eyes.

The ps3s failure is that it is to expensive and the extra bucks don't make up for it's lack of gaming content. Really, there aren't any reasons to own a ps3 over a 360. The 360 can produce images that might not be as perfect as the ps3 counter part but it's still damn pretty.


Going back to the topic though. Xbox is a most def because of it is way more popular. It would be convient for the majority of us who have xbox sticks

Considering the ps to xbox360 adapter costs more than the actual game will, I hope to god it's on ps3 (I own neither). Most people own customs that use ps pcb's anyway so having to switch to xbox360 sticks would just be a pain in the ass.

Why dont you check that out before coming back in here.

Sure the specs may be higher in some areas, but that doesnt always mean better picture.

Ps3 will be the tourny standard though due to the controller issue pretty much. Otherwise, both versions will pretty much be the exact same thing.

I'll be doing PC. Hopefully they give us full joystick support. Because then as long as you have a USB adapter, you can use any controller in the world.
