Also, officials may share copies of the laptop's contents with other agencies and private entities for language translation, data decryption or other reasons

Great, now DHS can not only stop you for any reason, search the contents of ANY device in your possession, but they can keep it, duplicate, and distribute it to whoever they want for as long as they want.

Can't imagine the disasters that are gonna occur as a result of this. Imagine flying into the US for some big corporate meeting with highly confidential material (trade secrets), but your laptop gets taken away. Made backups/stored in portable device? Woops, they took those too. And to make things worse, somehow that information ends up in your competitor's hands, a lot of $$$ in somebody's pocket, a big foot in your ass, and you can't prove anything.

Nice! Almost forgot, if you refuse to give them any passwords, they can deny you access into the country, even if you're a citizen. Double Nice!

edit: I'm really, really f*ckin' tired of seeing the word 'terrorism'.

Damn...I'm at work so I just gazed through...but I sense the bullshit is strong for that one. I'd bust a federal aagents nose for just randomly taking my laptop for an undisclosed period of time at an undisclosed location. If you want to see my pr0n just ask...but don't take my shit in the bathroom for as long as you want...I got places to go things to do and I don't like sticky keys.

What I also find disturbing is the provision that was put into the housing bill(which unfortunately was signed into law) where all credit card transactions must be reported to the IRS. The IRS used to have to get a court order or subpeona to audit merchant accounts- but no longer. That won't take effect until 2011- but I find it interesting how nearly no news outlets even bothered to cover that detail.
