Even though IGN are wrong about a lot of factual info, media is media and getting the word out about SF/SF4 keeps the game fresh inside the minds of casual players.

I think I should call him out on that kanji mishap, since he seems so sure that the kanji on the Akuma's back means evil (惡) or demon (魔) which humourously enough are two different kanji altogether. On top of that, they look NOTHING like the kanji for ten (天). How do you make that kind of mistake? ...and then publish it for the world to see? :confused:

Here's a question to ponder: Why has Ryu always been a bit more popular than Ken? After all, even though their styles have diverged as the Street Fighter series has evolved over the years, they still have a heck of a lot in common. Nevertheless, Ryu's unquestionably the flagship character of the series, even over here in America.

Maybe it says something about the personality of your average gamer. We'd rather identify with the surly, obsessive loner, instead of the guy who shows at least an occasional glimmer of enjoying a real life. (Ken has a girlfriend, too, which would naturally make him the target of hatred from the basement-dweller set.) Or maybe we just collectively hold some kind of unconscious grudge against blondes.

Or maybe this is just overstating the issue. Ken still has plenty of fans out there, players who don't mind a little extra color in their fighters, and he's just as indispensable to the series as Ryu is. After all, could you imagine a Street Fighter game without him? Perhaps, but it probably still wouldn't be the same.

Her standard physical attacks are fairly weak, on the whole, but she's dangerous in the hands of a player who knows how to use her "Soul Power" effectively. If you're up against someone who likes to rely on fireballs, Rose can reflect those all day long.

#25 -Urien- Street Fighter III: Triple Impact
Even though he's one of the worst Street Fighter characters ever (his Aegis reflector is just USELESS!), we're adding him to this list because he has the balls to fight in a thong! Good luck beating anyone with him, but if you do, they will be humiliated to the point of suicide. Joke character at best.

#24 -Dudley- Street Fighter III: First Attack
Fares not much better than Urien in the gameplay department, but at least he's wearing clothes! His only saving grace puts him ahead of #25 is his Coarse Counter attack that's super cheap.

#23 -Yun- Street Fighter III: Double Strike
Chun Li's oldest son plays pretty much like her: he's fast and cheap, but lacking in strength. He has virtually no useful normals and is very rarely picked in professional matches. He has a sort of custom combo super that's designer solely for players who want to look flashy rather than play seriously.

#22 -Yang- Street Fighter III: Second Turbo
Youngest of Chun Li's two sons, Yang plays very similar to his brother. He places higher on the list in terms of popularity.

#21 -Hugo- Street Fighter III: Super Impact
As if Zangief wasn't useless enough(he can't even jump over fireballs!), Hugo is even worse, if you can believe that. Will Capcom never learn? He's slower than any character ever, looks stupid, but has great idle animation.

#20 -Elena- Super Street Fighter III: Triple'
Looks like the female version of Urien, but with some surprisingly nice animation, especially her idle loop! She fights using breakdance moves, but since this was never intended to be used for kombat, you can guess how good she is in a match.

#19 -Alex- Street Fighter III: Champion Generation
Ken's father finally made an appearance in the third game! He plays more like Fei Long than Ken though.

#18 -Makoto- Street Fighter III: Grand Master X
Basically, she's SFIII's Sakura. Her animation is better than that of any Disney movie ever, especially that of her hair band that she uses in her special attacks!

#17 -Necro- Street Fighter III: Three
We can't take it anymore... We gotta spill one of Capcom's best secrets: Necro is an exact copy of Dhalsim, specifically, Dhalsim's SF I version. If you're familiar with Dhalsim, you shouldn't have any difficulty picking this guys up. You should also know that it will be impossible to win any match, because everyone knows Dhalsim is the worst character in SF history.

#16 -Q- Street Fighter III: Two
Q's official bio states that he's Blanka, trying to fit into normal society by wearing a mask and a trench coat. Just keep hitting your opponent relentlessly with electricity and when they least expect it, finish them with a head bite!

#15 -Twelve- Street Fighter III: Alpha
Definitely one of the best characters of SFIII in every way. Most popular character in tournaments, this character looks like he crossed over from a Darkstalkers game. He can use his X-Copy super to change into any other character and with his fatality, he can steal your soul.

#14 -Chun Li- Street Fighter II: Turbo Fighting
We know there's lot of people who'd want her to be higher up on the list, but let's face it: You only want that because she's smoking hot. As hardcore gamers, we like to judge by gameplay more than looks and it is in this area that Chun Li falls short.
When she first appeared everybody wanted to play as her, hoping to catch a fleeting glimpse of her panties flashing on screen.
As the years went by, people stopped picking her because she just didn't have what it takes to be a Street Fighter. Especially in Street Fighter III: Next Age of Heroes, only people with a lot of confidence would dare to try and win a match using her.

#13 -Cammy- Street Fighter II: Hyper Viper Z
Another hot girl. Even though she suffers from the same, hot looks, but useless gameplay-problem that Chun Li has, Cammy was a definite step up.
Her Spinning Knuckle attack(fashioned after Michael Haggar's spinning Lariat) was easily abusable, resulting in an easy win for whoever managed to get a first hit in.

#12 -Sodom- Street Fighter Alpha: World Warrior's Dream Match
Samurais' are awesome!

#11 -Birdie- Street Fighter I: A New Hope
Another fan favorite, this guy fights in the SF tournament to win money, in the hopes of finding a cure for his sickness.

#10 -Ryu- Street Fighter I: Grand Champion Hyper Edition
How could we not include SF's flagship character?
The key word is: simplicity.

#9 -Ken- Street Fighter I: Mister Miyagi's Challenge
He lacks Ryu's headband, making him even more simple. Simplicity.

#8 -R. Mika- Street Fighter Alpha Zero Dash
The 'R' stands for Restricted! This babe has humongous breasts with hearts on her nipples! She attacks with her butt! She's a freak and deserves to be in the top 10!

The only character to have appeared in every SF game. Great character and a great sport too, because he has a move which starts with him asking if you are okay and he says it with this thick Japanese accent, like: "AH YU OKAYE?!" Other famous quotes of his include: "YOU CANNOT ESCAPE WRONG DEATH" and "GO HOME AND BE A FAMILY, MAN!"

#4 -Gill- Street Fighter III: The Dark Knight
Being Urien's distant cousin, it's no surprise that they share similar moves. First appearing in a later iteration of SFIII: Grande Slam Masters, this guy's got everything; fire and ice attacks, the ability to revive, you name it! If only he didn't fight in the same thong as his counterpart.
PRO TIP: Pick this guy and you can't lose!

One of the most celebrated characters of the SF franchise, Skullomania started the trend of designing characters in the likeness of celebrities. Modelled after the late Marcel Marceau, all of his moves derive from the art of mime, like using invisible walls as force fields against incoming attacks.

#2 -Dan- Street Fighter Alfalfa 5, Super Genki Rainbow Edition
Another lookalike, this time owing his appearance to none other than Steven Seagal. Best used at long range. This fighter is just as humiliating to lose to as Urien, because of his pink gi and never ending taunts. As opposed to Urien though, Dan sports a wide variety of original, high damage moves that can take out any opponent.

On top of everything else, he's got a light saber! Combine this amazing weapon that should have been in Street Fighter from the very start and shared by all the characters, with the awesome juggle system from the arcade smash hit Street Fighter: The Movie: The Game and you've got a character that deserves to be at number one of any list, even ones that aren't about games!

Seppuku Move. Mofo cuts his own stomach and uses his blood to hit you. Also, plagued by EXed fireballs and double Sonic Booms? Sawada's jesus blood eats all. His own EX version has him ignite his trivial fluids for a flaming effect. And now we know. Sawada's a fuckin' machine.

Meat Shield Super. This tank of a human throws his arms up and rushes in to give you a hug... that you would rather die than face. He's got a 6-pack, folks, and you're gonna chug every last one of 'em. Also eats through fireballs like they were Twinkies at a Jenny Craig meeting. Juggernaut who? I'm the motherfuckin' SAWADA! That big red pansy gets his tin can suit turned into his own coffin before the Asian Sensation's might!

Guile may have kicked Bison's ass so hord the next wannabe will feel it, but if Sawada could've been bothered to step in and exert the smallest fraction of his attention to the task, he'd have not only killed Bison and all of Shadowloo from the merest glance, but also retroactively avoided every last war mankind has ever involved itself in. I guess he just wanted his good friend to have his moment in the sun.

And that humility, my friends, is what places Captain Kenya Sawada irremovably at the top of any Street Fighter character listing, now, or ever.
