U guys have any specific focus attack tricks that you do with abel? Share.. only one I know is when Rufus does EX spin kick, and ends it with that overhead, u can focus that, dash forward, cr.HP to launch him in air and ultra / wtv.

Now I dont do this because it never seems to come to me in a fight but I think what you can do is when the opponent is on the ground you can start charging a FA, then just before they actually get up cancel it by dashing back. Quite often I find that you can bait somebody in this manner.

I tend to use it as an Anti Air. If they jump in with an attack it will more than likely counter and you get a free combo. If they dont attack you just let it go as soon as they touch the floor then dash cancel after the hit and throw block or anti air grab depending on situation.

That's very unsafe as Rufus has three follow-ups, one including the flash kick thing, which breaks super armor.

And more or less that's not so specific, since anyone can do that.

I can't really think of anything that's totally specific since his focus attack has crap range. Just the old meaty, bait & punish stuff.

i really don't like Abel's SA. shit is so slow i get thrown out of it all the time.

as dominic stated earlier, his FA can be used to bait

i found it very helpful against Sagat and Balrog players on wake up,
because whatever they wake up with as long as they dont have much meter to EX
i absorb then get a free combo,

umm. specifically for balrog, his block strings can be interrupted wit the use of Abel's FA.
it saved me alot....rolling out of it didn't help at all.
but that's all i have for now.

Since I didn't know how to roll properly out of cross ups, the main use I've had for Abel's focus attack is to escape cross ups. Eat the hit then back dash away.

ive been using this a few times, when both are standing apart and just walking around back and forth, i'll SA and dash cancel into command throw.. its risky in a way but if done quickly enough the opponent will be caught off guard..

and yeah agreed with the SA backdash bait though i usually just roll and backdash to bait on their wakeup..

hey guys, my knowledge of the game is limited as I haven't played it yet but don't all reversals break focus attacks? I know i read that somewhere

all reversal special moves. say for instance balrog's headbutt. it doesnt usually break armor but a reversal headbutt will. also counter hits from fa will crumple your opponent.

Don't forget FA also breaks armor on reversal, which is why I broke your FA with my FA when we were playing yesterday!

are u sure u can reversal fa? i dont think its possible and if it is, ive never been able to do it. also i dont remember that happening when we played and if i did it wouldve been one of those wtf moments. i have never seen it done in a video nor have i done it myself and i have tried. wake up fa = never reversal for me

i think ive seen a reversal FA before.. but i couldnt remember much detail except that both of us were charging FA and i happened to release mine a lil bit later than his.. my abel absorbed the opp fa and break his armor yeah... but i guess thats the one and only time ive seen it..

the only time i have seen focus break was when (i lol at this and forget who i was playing) but we were standing point blank and we both charged fa, i charged mine before his and i hit a lvl 3 focus and broke his fa. other than that i have never seen a reversal fa. hfz can you show a vid of a reversal fa?? maybe do it yourself if you can? i swear this cannot be done it doesnt seem like it is possible. i remember way back when i frst started playing this i really tried to reversal fa and i have never been able to do it. if you try to wake up fa it is never reversal.

hmm i dunno like i said, it happened only once so im not really that confident that its a reversal (it might even be like how you said up there)... as for videos, im not sure because i dont have a camera at the moment.. but

i will try that out against cpu today, since the cpu loves to SA for no reason LOL.. but then again, they only do lvl3 SA, so i guess either im lucky to find someone to test that with later or we just have to wait for the console version (2 weeks+) :D.

well im pretty sure (like 100% sure) that you cant do reversal focus.
