Is there anyone else in here use PS3 controller for the game? I played with PS3 dualshock for a week before I picked up the madcatz dpad. Used the DPad for 5 minutes and then I switch back to PS3 controller.. been using PS3 controller ever since.
Anyone else use PS3 controller out there? any thought about the fighting stick vs ps3 controller?
I have blister on my thumb, that's the only bad thing... but other than that, I'm doing fine :)

Heh. I use a PS3 controller because that's what I'm used to from playing casual CvS2 and 3S over last summer.
The skin on top of my thumb is a bit rough now, which I'm quite proud of. :-D

i really prefer the arcade stick because it feels the same when i go play vs other gamers at arcades. if you haven't switched i would recommend you try it : )

Yes, I will eventually grab the MadCatz Standard Edition and mod it to match with the specs from the Tournament Edition. Right now don't feel like paying over $200 for a stick. Waste of money and for those who bought out all the sticks when it was on release date to make profit of ebay and craigslist, shame on you.

Nice Xander! My blister is so tough, it has its own blister :)
I found it useful to have a piece of cloth next to you when play. I usually wipe down the pad to remove all the sweats and oil.
Let's practice Ken/Ryu sometimes, my PS3 handler is the same.. what's yours?

I use my t-shirt and a ps2 controller (using radio shack USB adapter).
I can't stand the L2 and R2 triggers on the ps3 controller.

I'm using it cause it's what the console came with
Seriously, I like the response of the d-pad on the PS3 controller over the fight pad. Funny thing is is that I remember complaining about the button setup when I started using the PS3 controller. Guess we're never satisfied.

L2 and R2 just take way too long to come out.
A good example is attempting an air tatsu with r2 on the ps3 controller and then on the ps2 controller.
PS2 controller is much better because it doesn't have triggers, it has solid shoulder buttons which engage faster.

i use it, but i bought the 15th aniversary pads for ps2. I'll see if it works well enough. plus, it'll make me wanna play old school games again like all the aphas.

I use the PS3 controller - although I'm eagerly awaiting my preorder of the TE stick..
I have to agree about the trigger buttons - I need to press down so hard for the moves to register properly - I'll probably end up breaking off both triggers with the amount of force I use lol
I can't use the dpad - feels awkward and I'll suck even more.

adorkable81 what's the reason you don't like the madcatz pad?
I ask this because I was thinking of buying one. I'm using the DS3 but I hate the R2, L2 triggers and I want 6 face buttons. I have HFS3 but I couldn't get used to it on HDR and haven't tried it on SF IV.

I played with PS3 controller for a solid 2 weeks before I could get my hand to the MadCatz Dpad... maybe I'm so used to the PS3 controller, I had trouble playing online with the D-Pad... I know I should play with the DPad a lil more to break it in but old habit die hard, I keep coming back to the PS3 controller after I loose 1 round with D-Pad. Everytime I did that, I won with the PS3 controller so I could appear to be bias toward the D-Pad.
The point is, I didnt spend enough time practice with it. Most of my online game are Ranking match so I couldnt afford to loose match. I will give DPad a try with friendly game, but if you can get a hold of one, go for it.

I'm awaiting for my trigger to come from amazon.com It's cheap $5, and gets a lot of review, maybe this will help you out too. Will report the result after some testing. I'm ordering mine today

I've heard about the real triggers. I'm iffy on those.
adorkable, let me know how you like them.

I'll give that a try. Not only for SFIV but also for other games. I hate those triggers...

I use the standard DS3 pads too. I almost exclusively use the D-Pad, only using the analogue for 'Gief's grabs. Never really had much of a problem until now. I think it's because I've never been into a competitive scene in a beat 'em up. They never really appealed to me.
However, the more I play SFIV, the more I think I'd benefit from a stick. I think the accuracy of a stick will help no end.
Unfortunately, I can't justify spending £40 + (I'm from Wales, UK) on a stick. Wish I had the money to...

I've noticed one of these in a store near mine. How much did it cost you? Let me know if it's any good ^_^.

I didn't even think about this. I got the PS2 to USB adapter from Radio Shack when I was using the controller on the PC at one point. I got the Ken controller when the Street Fighter Collection came out. I'll try mine out when I get home today as well.

I'm telling you guys... PS2 controller with USB adapter from Radio Shack is the best combination after the arcade sticks. (If you know how to use them)

I also use the PS3 Controller for SF4 I've been using the PS Controllers for years when it came to Street Fighter Never Ever Once Did I consider the Idea for an Arcade Stick until now. I feel that I have reached a Limit on PS3 Controller. After seeing How many people went Crazy ( I use that term loosely) for the Mad Catz Aracde sticks I was at a stump because ebay and Craigslist was not helping. I have place for an order for a Hori Fight Stick just to tide me over until My Arcade in a Box stick comes in. I know I'll benefit More with with an Arcade Stick because my skills on the ps3 controller have been tapped out

I feel the same way. Let's get a friendly match on to compare each other's top ability on a PS3. I'll add you later this evening. Cheerio

PS3 controller is just fine...D-pad is great for accuracy, and many of shoto's moveset have shortcuts.
I'd say the only thing an stick really will drastically improve is your timing with frame and block string stuff. Other than that, it's all about skill baby...

Playing MvC2 on the DC controller was always good times - now that was a dpad.

The trigger for PS3 works well with my PS3 controller. I have the DS3 too but I prefer the stock controller because it's lighter.

Also I recommend to keep some microfiber cloth nearby to wipe the PS3 between matches. The cloth will absorb all the sweat and give you a better grip.

I also use the PS3 controller. However I'm in the process of making a joystick. I've always played SF in the arcade. But if you can't I think the PS3 controller is the best for this game as of now. Now those RealTriggers would come in handy :wgrin:

ok. the 15th aniversary fighter pads are a little bulky like cheap sega saturn knock offs. they work fine. but i wish i could have my old genisis small hands version 6 button, those were the best.

I used the ps3 for awhile and then got the mad catz pad. i had to relearn but i think the pad is better on the madcats for QC and those kind of motions.
i did import some of those saturn usb pads off ebay and they are THE SHIZNIT!
problem is the cables are 4ft long and my tv is 65" so i was going blind in practice last night.
i do have a chun li ps2 pad i haven't tried because i didn't know about the adapter but i really think the saturn pads are the be all end all pad.

I use an imported USB Sega Saturn pad too, and can't really see myself using anything else. I think it's one of the best pads you can get for this game, but like PadThrashingMad said the stock cord is short, so I had to pick up a USB extension cord. Also it might just be me but I find I'm able to pull off tricky moves like Ken's kara throw more consistently with the Saturn pad than the PS3 one.

Holy crap dude you remember that controller? Hell yes that was the best pad ever created i remember the first game i used it for was Charles Barkley's Shut Up and Jam. LOL that game was garbage! My friend Frank that i still battle in SF to this day kicked me out of the house cause i just picked up the controller with my allowance back in like 1993 or something and had some sort of awesome advantage at dunking. LOL!

I've been considering a stick lately as well.
Mad Catz has said that they're going to make a whole bunch more so I'll prolly pick one up. I feel like I might as well be using a stick if I'm gonna play the game as much as I do.
