When Abel does his Marseilles Roll, he shouts something that sounds like, "I select!" Just what exactly is he really saying?

Just to answer the question, he's probably saying "Marseilles", and pronouncing it as "MAR-SA-LAY"....which is probably how that word is supposed to be pronounced.

The word is pronounced "marr-sai." But I think you're right about him saying "mar-sa-lay" during the roll.

Marseilles Roll = "I Surrender"

He's french. It makes sense.

P.S. I'm kidding.

Not sure about the EX, but I think it's just a generic grunt: "Yuh!" That's my guess.

EX Tornado Throw is "OK!" I think, but I may be confusing that with EX Change of Direction.

does it matter what he says?

Can't have the fanfic without accurate grunts and yelps.

The english voice sounds horrible, so I just use the japanese ones. If theres one thing I hate about Street Fighter 4, it's the voice acting

Does anyone think he is saying "Soleil" like his hair is so blonde like the sun, his power is like the sun?

If theres one thing I hate about Street Fighter 4, it's the voice actingBoxer's english voice is a lot better than his Japanese one, at least. And a lot of the japanese voice acting (e.g. Ken, Ryu) sounds just as overdramatic as the english, only it's not in my language so I can pretend it's not as horrible when it's in Japanese.

What does Marseilles mean anyway?

It's one of the largest and most populated cities in France.
So it's just a less homo homage to his home country than "Paris Roll".
(You like that alliteration?)

They should have called it the Crescent Roll (aka croissant).

I'm not 100% sure, but what I am 100% sure of is that this is the place to discuss Abel. I am also 100% sure that Abel discussion is happening in this thread. So... what's your dill?

Because you are using the term "discussion" to your advantage so you and others can spam.

When a fighting game forum says "character discussion" it's how to play and utilize the character to it's fullest. What he says or why he says it has nothing to do with any of those, thus it's a waste of time and bandwith.

His Japanese VA says 'Morata' I think which translates 'I got it'.

Well, no. Actually, if all we were to discuss about was how the character plays, there would be no need for all these threads. Just sticky one fucking thread to talk about moves and that's it. At that point, anything else would be a complete and total waste of bandwidth, according to your logic. As for being a waste of time... well, you saw the title of thread. At that point, you had the choice to "waste your time" and click the link or not. Looks like you made a bad choice.

I agree, There should only be one thread for each character. But people keep making worthless threads like these. :D

He says "Garage Door" as in the down ward force of the wheel kick has the for of a garage door descending upon you. Well at least that's what I envision.

Yes, because text uses so much bandwidth! :looney:
What year is this, 1995? Did I stumble into Usenet? "Character discussion" means "discuss the character," not "discuss the character's gameplay and nothing else."

During the roll? I'm pretty sure he says circus ole'

I like how he's voiced by Jean Claude Van Damme.

"I yam going to keek that son ova beesh Seth's ass so HORD, da next Urien wannabe is gonna feelit."
