I was reading a bit on kara cancels and how giefs standing rh into kara throw advances him a considerable amount. I haven't tried kara cancel into spd, but I'm wondering how practical it is?

It's only useful if you expect the other guy not to jump or move forward, as if you hit him you won't be able to SPD him afterward.

Ah, so its useful if you manage to freeze your opponent and need more range. Thanks for the info.

You can also use cr. mk into SPD (or even super/ultra). Just barely whiff it, and you will be in range.

Kara cancel means cancelling the startup of a move before it even has a chance to hit. WHIFF standing HK into piledriver (if that's what you're talking about) is not a kara cancel.

The prima guide called it a kara cancel, and I just facepalmed when I read it. You can't kara cancel a st. roundhouse into an spd. It has to be whiffed over their heads. If Gief did have a kara of any sort, that would be incredible.

ive been trying since i got the game to find one for geif but i dont think their is one or if their is im not seeing it, it would be insanely hard to get it off either way the amount of time you would have to input 360 p would be nuts, youd have to buffer it or something

you KANT kara a dam spd.. no matter what you do, the new kara glove trick works but thats different

if you tried to initiate a kara spd lets say.. with the standing RH.. you would just get a regular SPD or the running one.. you would be doing a 360 motion in the process no?
therefore.. (this will explain what the kara motion should be) somewhere in the middle of that 360 you have the theory of inputing the RH just before finishing the 360 then followed by a punch button afterwards.. ive tried inputting the RH after a 180 then ending with a punch from a 360.. NOTHING just a SPD motion or running.. RH animation either came out.. or it didnt, but no cancels. oh i even tried inputting the 360 slowly or very quickly.. nothing


if they ever gave gief a kara spd.. fuck sf4

What's hilarious is that the prima guide suggests kara SPD.

I can see the possibilities, but there are two obvious drawbacks.

1. Slower startup by however many frames the normal is out.
2. If you miss you get Running Bear Grab, which gets you killed for free.

I practiced in training mode for 15 minutes, all i got were Running Bear Grabs.

It's theoretically possible.

I'd like to see someone with programmable controller do it.

Its not a kara cancel, you have to wait till giefs leg is fully extended. But you can go directly into an SPD at that point. That works. discussed in another post that is how i found it, but i am not rereading them to find it again.

I just wanted to make sure it wasn't my scrubbyness preventing me from doing it.
