7000 BP - Just Usin Vega!

Hello everyone..iam new to this site....its awesome...someone on PSN told me about it after I handed it to em...with Vega!..lol..

I think iam a great Vega Player...its pretty much the only character i use....but going through all the Vega threads on here....its apperant that I dont even use the basic stuff.....like pokes for instance..reason i say that is because i hear it mentioned on here so much and i see it in youtube videos as well...my game has no pokes....and not only that ive got some questions as well.....if i just add the basic stuff to my game along with some other moves i dont use...i think my Vega could be even better!!! and hes soooo freakn good right now...

1. How should pokes be used?..when?..and which one?LP,MP. or HP?Which ones better to use?

2. And also ive seen it in videos many times but i cant do it?
How do u do scarlet terror (flip kick) twice in a row hitting both times?
I cant get it to hit the second time?Does anyone know how this is done?

3. Iam confused?..I know the basic throw on the ground and also the one in the air....but whats a Kara throw? is it different?

4. And i never use dash in my game...i have no idea how dash cancel and all those types of moves work with vega but iam very interested in knowing...what are some useful dash cancel moves?I know that ryu does something where he hits u on the ground and all of a sudden ure in the are fallin down only to be hit by his ultra.....Is there any kinda move like that with vega?----Something other than the EX wall dive that you could get them in the air standing up and then punish em?

5. How do you throw you mask and claw at the other person?

Ive used Vega since SF2 for a very long time and have much experience using him...and iam still learnin with SF4....they might say hes the weakest character...
but the smartest player is really the strongest....its the player who makes the character ....and not the character who makes the player!

My only beef with Vega in SF4 is that he doesnt pick up like he used to after hitting the wall....if they fix that...oh how sweet it will be...they really messed that move up.....and thats like his signature move too!!!..what were they thinkn?!!...Fix that Capcom!!!..Seriously

Lol..iam freakn serious bro...these are the things i really dont know how to do?..and wanted some help on to make my Vega even better...
Theres no poking in my game...but iam slowly tryin to put it in there...and i just started to put some focus into my game as well...anything to be better...and i just dont know how to do the things i described...wish someone would tell me how?Not that i didnt use pokes before...i have in the other street fighters but in street fighter 4 my pokes keep getting reversed by for example so thats why i dont use em anymore really....i didnt say btw that i didnt know how to do an Izuna drop.

My game is basically just goin crazy all over the screen playing crazy mind games with people....they never know what iama do next...keep em guessing...and thats the beauty of Vega and the best way to play him rather than just sitting there and poking...how boring..lol..I think thats what players expect from me rather than an aggressive fighting style...which catches them completely off guard...oh yeah and i absolutely love taunting the crap out of them....it helps alot while ure beatin the crap out of them....silly phsycological games break em down too....it really works...makes em panic even more into makin stupid mistakes...lol...and then i get comments for kickin thier ass too....like........"Best Vega Ive ever played" .....or "One of the Best"..Getting compliments for kicken someones butt....crazy huh?


But after reading posts on here and watching videos iam definitley learning to be patient with vega rather than just attack, attack, attack!....and thats helping me win some matches too.

I know iam not the best Vega player...otherwise i wouldnt be on here askin for help...but yeah i do think iam one of the best

So . . . who are you fighting??? And at what time of day? I play late evenings between 9 and midnight on the Ranked and it is very difficult with Vega and Chun Li. How on earth are you controlling aggressive, combo heavy Ryus for example? If you are using neither pokes NOR dash how are you controlling them? I am by no means any expert (in fact, in SRK terms I am a total scrub, a scrub's scrub even--I jump ALL the time for the simple fact that it is fun) but I have found that Vega can be severely pyoooooooooooooonished for "zooming around the screen" and that I have to hit him a LOT more times than he has to hit me (plus Ryu has VERY easy combos and combos into his Metsu Hadoken like a bazillion different ways!).

So how are you winning if you are just utilizing Sky High Claws, Flying Barcelona Attacks and Izuna drops??? How are you not being destroyed by hadokens, shoryukens or that annoying Ryu jump forward 2-baby-taps-that-out-priority-even-jumping-Fierce-from-Vega into Metsu Hadoken?

I was stunned the day my wall dive was met that jumping two into Ultra. I was ahead and stupidly sought to rolling izuna for the win. Tap, tap, land & Ultra. And Vega was AUDI.

YES!! That is what I have experienced! In ranked, it usually boils down to them trying to pin me with cross-ups. The Ryu Giant Foot Of Death and his Supreme Baby Tap Of Doom are my mortal enemies in trying to escape after using slide or KKK to avoid the crossup.

If PSN is anything like xbox live, then at 1600BP+, there would be about 15 blankas in a row waiting to drop your rank like mad....

1. pokes: I probably dont know a whole lot since I get interrupted between pokes since my game is very flawed but I know this:
-c.mp can lead into EX wall dive, EX or reg mk scarlet terror
-c.mp has great range and can stuff attacks like guiles double c.rh if timed right
-s.hp (strong punch, whatever it is) has good range and does good damage
-s.mk has the longest range and is great at mid range
-s.lp can lead into c.mp (i think? I still suck at this)

2. double ST
-scarlet terror with light kick, immediately follow it with an EX scarlet terror
ex. charge db, then f+lk, RIGHT AFTER the move starts, charge db again then EX ST as they fall

3. I just learned this myself
-kara throw is where you hit rh and IMMEDIATELY throw... this makes you "warp" a little closer towards your opponent and increases your throw range

4. dash cancel:
-you begin to focus and then you dash before your focus attack comes out... this will cancel your focus attack
-a FA cancel can absorb fireballs similar to parrying
-this can work if you EX focus in a combo also (just have to dash quicker)

5. I can believe you are even asking this...... its in the game's move list.........
-"forward z" (f->d->df+punch) for claw
-same thing but EX it for mask

And Vega's backdash is good. I sparingly use the backflip if ever. Rather FADC projectiles or dash back Fierce/Roundhouse/FA people who jump in from outside of sweep range.

-Well ive been practicin pokes since i last wrote this thread...and i personally think that the best one to use is the MP...(good damage and u can combo out)the LP doesnt do too much damage and the HP alot of times ends up going over and missing a crouched opponent....just my own personal tip to help you

Hell no it's not. are you telling me you play Zangief's who don't just tear into you every time you flip away? Claw has the second fastest (tied with Chun and Rose, slower than Fuerte's) backdash in the game, with only Chun, Sim, Dan, Seth, and Gen hopping further back than he does. Sure his forward dash isn't as good, but that's the point, you're not running to with Vega, you're running away. The active frames of Claw's backdash are 22 frames, as opposed to 65 recover for PPP flip and 42 recovery for KKK... Almost all of the time, if you get into a habit of using the flips, people will punish you much easier than they would if you retreated using Back dash. That's why it's so good, it's an alternative to the easily punishable flips.

Honestly, us here in Vega world are all pretty chill. There's not a massive amount of us, so we tend to all stick together and help each other out. Just don't come in, acting like you're better than everyone when there's obviously huge flaws in your game (pokes, throws, etc...). I know everyone has their own play style, but those things are just essential...

OK, im calling BS. You have been using Vega for months and have managed to attain 7000bp WITHOUT being able to do the following:

Using any pokes whatsoever.
Never using a Kara Throw.
Not knowing how to scarlet flip twice.
Not really able to land an Izuna drop.
Not really knowing how to EX cancel.

So, either you are the best 'raw' player of Vega iv ever heard of or are taking the piss. So assuming you are telling the truth, id like to turn this around say how do you win with him consistently without utilising any of the above which are staples of his game.

You clearly have some things we can learn off of you, not the other way around.

With delay it can be hard to punish Vega's appropriately. Its BP nobody good actually plays on the ladder system. You're being absurd. To be honest he'd beat me because I haven't played more than 5 Vega's in all my games. I just don't know how to punish. Vega isn't a commonly used character so its not surprising. I doubt he's really any good but its freaking online man. Settle down. Good luck TS.

but I am not here to spam and flame and I will answer your questions to the best of my noobie knowledge

1. pokes: I probably dont know a whole lot since I get interrupted between pokes since my game is very flawed but I know this:
-c.mp can lead into EX wall dive, EX or reg mk scarlet terror
-c.mp has great range and can stuff attacks like guiles double c.rh if timed right
-s.hp (strong punch, whatever it is) has good range and does good damage
-s.mk has the longest range and is great at mid range
-s.lp can lead into c.mp (i think? I still suck at this)

2. double ST
-scarlet terror with light kick, immediately follow it with an EX scarlet terror
ex. charge db, then f+lk, RIGHT AFTER the move starts, charge db again then EX ST as they fall

3. I just learned this myself
-kara throw is where you hit rh and IMMEDIATELY throw... this makes you "warp" a little closer towards your opponent and increases your throw range

4. dash cancel:
-you begin to focus and then you dash before your focus attack comes out... this will cancel your focus attack
-a FA cancel can absorb fireballs similar to parrying
-this can work if you EX focus in a combo also (just have to dash quicker)

5. I can believe you are even asking this...... its in the game's move list.........
-"forward z" (f->d->df+punch) for claw
-same thing but EX it for mask

FA his rainbow roll. if he does the ex version wait for it to get close the hit ppp. as far as his straight rool jump backwards and come down with fierce. if you has any ex bars then block it and punish it with ex wall dive. easy money.

Not true cause the more BP points u earn....ull have to face tougher and tougher opponents to get an even decent amount of points for your wins so the higher u go..the harder it is to earn BP...which forces me to play against more skilled and veteran players if i want more than 1 BP

well man its hard to explain..i wish u could play me...iam never sittin there pokin...i use all his other moves...wall dives..rolls...flip kicks..make sure to throw whenever i get a chance...ex moves..supers and ultras..combos...im just gettin a hang on focus attacks...crazy huh?..all in all...knowledge about ure character is key...when and where to use ure moves and when NOT to...i guess i just trick my opponents alot...they dont know what iama pull off next...ive got my charge goin allmost the entire game and when they make a mistake i punish...and the other key is knowing your oppenents weaknesses...each character wise...that makes u alot better juz by itself..otherwise u find your self sittin there pokin..same ole moves against different characters...u cant do more or less hence u play everyone with ure turtle game....and sit there and get raped...when ure the one with the weapon...LOL...

and keeping your distance is also very important with Vega...But ONLY when U WANT TO !!!

Its not completely unthinkable that a vega player can reach 7000BP without realizing they can combo a light scarlet -> ex scarlet. Likewise perhaps about the poking aspect. Mind you, that does seem a bit difficult to believe as that limits vega's game to mostly cosmic heels (big risk), flying antics (risky with little damage to take you to win consistently), and maybe some sweeps, and if you're good at jumpin mixups, perhaps a couple high-damage combos/throws. Honestly, I feel i'm pretty solid with much of Vega's game and yet I don't feel like I can win without decent poke strategy. To start winning in higher BP games, I noticed that my air game had to be far more strategic and toned down.

Having said all of that, it is STILL POSSIBLE for a person to use a few simple strategies and still win based on killer reflexes, and mind games. You see all kinds of fighters. Some have all of the moves, yet no sense of pace, restraint, or balance with defence. Some rely on a few simple tactics that frustrate other players and capatilize on mistakes. Its still a pretty new game, so I wouldn't take anyone's play too seriously at this point.

And, for the record, I think I have an alright VEGA. He's my main on ranked play and i've carried him to 3100BP with no signs of slowing down. I don't see a huge difference in play between my vega and players in and above the 8000BP range (though it does get more difficult).

I do think there is a lot of cheating going on as well, so the BP system is just a guide-post to improving your play and matching yourself to better opponents. I don't see why everyone takes this all so seriously.

I haven't played him, so I'm reserving my judgement, but I'd just like to point out that the numbers do lie.

Don't trust someone is good just because they have a lot of BP. I'd say at least 50% of the top 'BP Leaders' are boosters/switchers/pullers, it's pretty ridiculous at this point.

the leaderboards are for the entire group of people playing on your console, but alot of the best players dont play on xbl or psn, i think poongko has a psn account and alot of the cali players do like bustabust and ronstoppable

Man the championship mode is kinda confusing...im not reallyh getting it...CP? GP?...wow...i found that its not really that much funner than playing regular ranked matches...i think the tournament setup on HD remix was way waaaaay better...and it was actually fun too....this is so boring i swear..its just like ure playing ranked matches..it feels no different at all...it used to be so much fun on HD remix...the whole bracket set up and everything...and u could see who won...and the lobbies were way much better too...watching other peoples fights live....anyone else agree with me that Championship mode sucks ass.....the ONLY thing i like about it is that they show the disconnect ratio...and thats pretty much it...iam seriously dissappointed with this....what was even the freakn point of this
whole thing when u still have to go lookin for opponents for each match of the tournament?...they should have set it up just like HD....would have been worth it then...and then other players could actually see u in action..what the hell is this?...in my opinion all they really did was add CP and GP to ranked matches...freakn lame....point system is nice n all but whats the whole point if its no fun.....

grade point are for people who actually have skill. when you finish a match your grade shows your skill and if your gettin e and d grade then your skills arent that good but if your pulling in a and b then your nice. CP doesnt mean much excetp that you have played alot of matches. i like the replays and the grade points. i have found that alot of of people have been gettin bad grades for being TURTLES lmao and it shows now.

CP is awarded after you win a championship. not by how many matches you play.

so basically both GP and CP give somewhat of an indication where a players skill lies.

especially since its not as scrub infested as ranked matches. i played some good, recognizable people in championship mode.
