PC Dan Hibiki Users

Just got the game for the PC, and I'm looking to main Dan after initially choosing Ken. After watching some of the video's in the video thread i realised the power of Saikyo, and the awesome Dan taunts.

Anyway it would be nice to spar with another Dan player on the PC to help me improve. :blush:

Played a few games online, and do pretty well until i play someone who knows what they are doing. I played one guy who was pretty good, he beat me a couple of times with Ryu, in a few rounds it was close but overall he won rather easily. Afterwards he sent me a pm saying that Rya was high tier and Dan was lower tier, but even lower tier characters deserve respect. :cool:

What is the best cause of action to take against a turtle guile? I have been doing fairly well with Dan i think considering a)im a noob, and b)i seem to generally fight high tier characters (excluding what im about to mention now).

I have reached 5 championship finals or something like that. In fact every time i play championship i almost always meet someone with double/triple my number of points.

In my most recent final i met a guile. He did nothing but crouch and throw sonic booms and block. As soon as i jumped he through a flash kick. I just couldn't figure out what to do. Kinda stupid as he managed to win basically just using two moves. Lol the shame.

I'm not sure if this would work... I haven't faced many Guiles, but can you bait the Flash Kick by Taunt Jumping over him?

Cause that would be awesome.

In my most recent final i met a guile. He did nothing but crouch and throw sonic booms and block. As soon as i jumped he through a flash kick. I just couldn't figure out what to do. Kinda stupid as he managed to win basically just using two moves. Lol the shame.

The Flash Kick actually has pretty lousy priority for an anti-air move. If you jump in at a Guile from the right angle (which might take some practice to find) and do the LK Danku kick/Knee of Justice in midair, it'll beat the Flash Kick clean and launch Guile across the screen. You can take that opportunity to dash after him so that you're in his face when he gets up.

It can even beat the EX Flash Kick. ;) When you don't have the right angle, the moves will usually trade hits, which still isn't bad, but you want yours to win so that you can get in and pressure.

You won't see Dan's much. I have only played one during rank matches, never seen one in Champion mode while playing on my friend's Xbox. I have to wait til Tuesday before I can play Dan on the PC.

If you want to improve your Dan then you are probably better watching some Dan videos. Watch what experience Dan's do. Xiahou Mao has a few videos up of some good Dan play that is linked in the video thread. Also if you can record some matches so people can give you pointers on what to do that might help you.

The one bad thing with sparring with Dans is it won't help you much online since you will never see them. I would offer to spar with you once I get the game for PC, but my Dan is far from good enough to be telling other people what to do.

I actually fought my first Dan the other day, this guy was pretty good and actually beat me.

I have been watching some of those video's and ill try to play more of a rush down cross up game like a lot of the better dans seem to play.

What can i use to record my matches, i would love to do this but am not sure how i record the matches. I have fraps but it only records 30 seconds and it slows the game speed down. Is there other alternatives?

if he comes strait at you with it, koryuken(dp) is generally the best option. if you are unable to dp him you need to work on your reaction time. once you see him hop of the wall you should have your dp motion in. Vega is pretty easy. I have over 3k online matches under my belt, so ive seen plenty of what vega can throw at me, and wall dives, that shit where he shoots across the screen, either gives me an opportunity for a reversal dp, or block then close distance and bring the pain. Once you get vega knocked down just keep the pressure on, he sucks really bad in the corner.

Dashing is dans best too for dipsy doodling around attacks that come from the top like bisons head stomp.

I need to know more also, like are you unable to block these attacks either? if you can block them, you should be able to counterattack, or at least hk Dankyu to get on him and apply pressure.

If you are brand new to the game, Blanka and to a lesser extent honda and balrog(boxer), should be the only ones you have serious difficulty with against players of your own skill level. Thos characters still annoy the piss out of me.

If you (since you are on PC) could fraps a video of a vega fight it would help. I might be picking up SF4 for PC this weekend. Once i figure out how the online works there, maybe we can set up a player match and I will roll vega, and utilize the attacks that give you the most grief to try and help you improve.

SF4 for the PC is only $40 which is nice, but it's exactly the same game as on the 360/PS3

Also, there's absolutely no anti-hack measures in place (just look at all the memory injections people are getting away with in the tech forum), so it's only a matter of time until it's infested with people cheating like crazy

I like to mix up FA's on wake up.

start out FADC back dash on a couple of knock downs(punish if they do something stupid), then mix it up and actually release the fa on his wake up (they are usually not blocking if they expect you to back dash), he he blocks back dash, if I score a hit/crumble f dash cr.HP >hk danku. Also mix it up with throws. From that point on, they will most likely just be trying option select on wake up, now you cross up :)

Tried it. Jumped clear over the Flash Kick, but I'm fairly certain it's not possible to punish the Flash Kick.

Anyways, the Knee stuffs it. Problem is, if they don't throw it out, they'll can just punish you, I think.

Thanks man that would be great. I need to use focus attacks more i think, and practice cancelling them and dashing more.

Just got this game last Friday and have been focusing lately on Saikyo style! Dan's father isn't going to avenge himself, after all.

In a player match, I try to pick Dan right away so my opponent can respond accordingly. Some people will just pick their main anyway, whereas a lot of people will use it as an opportunity to play with another low tier character. The people who use their main character and get beaten generally disconnect right away (and they should-- my Dan's okay but I'm far from unbeatable), which is hilarious. The game should play Dan's taunt sound automatically if you disconnect from a Dan match.

I played a close match with a fellow Danthusiast today, but lost in the end. But knowing that Saikyo style had prevailed made the defeat tolerable.

I'm a lot like you OP. I was planning on maining Ryu, but after realizing the true ultimate power of Saikyo, I realized that Dan is the only character win enough to be my main.

In fact, I just won two out of two matches today!

The first was a Guile who automatically disqualified himself for attacking me during my Super Taunt. It's a shame cause he would have won otherwise.

The second was a Zangief who did not realize the awesome power of the Gadouken and kept walking into them.

I just started with Dan today, and I'm on PC, gamertag Mikerrrrr. I played Chun for a while, but realized that I greatly dislike charging every special move, so I came to Dan the Man for help.
