Just taking a very far distance from balancing, online lag and stuff like that. I know they are important but what about singleplayer.

I am thinking of:
Arcade
Tournament
VS
Challange Mode (mix of timetrial, trialmode and scenario's)
Story Mode
Time Trial
Training
Trial Mode
Survival.

I am working on a document that gives a detailed idea of theese modes and hope that this will be implemented some way into a SFIV
literation.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
update1:

Please be free to post online modes, but dont overdo it, to much online mode's mean splitting the online-community to much.

Update2:

I think im going to take all the stuff you guys mention and post it in a document with my ideas, this will be mailed in some way to Capcom. The only thing whe need to do is make shure none of us is going to sue the company for using their ideas withouth payment.

Update3:
Anyone care for bonus stages, cant find anything about that?

Update4:
LOL, got two neg reps for making this thread, 'stop making radom posts', maby their just right about it.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DO NOT POST ANY BALANCING STUFF, AND DO NOT POST ANY STUPID COMPLAINTS FOR ONLINE LAG, ONLINE ISNT SERIOUS AFTERALL.

If you're going into detail about how you want each mode to work, I hope you don't mind if I contribute:
For training mode make sure to include the ability to choose whatever stage you want.
Characters like Chun need to practice on every stage in order to land that Ultra in the corner.

If they add that, then I also think they should add the stage grid to stages in Training Mode so you can see exactly what point of the stage is the center and at what point you can successfully land that kind of juggle.

Already confirmed, look for the gamespot interview video, you clearly see 'healt bars' fill up after taking damage in the car parking stage.

there's lots of stuff on my wishlist for training mode, most of which i strongly doubt we'd see.

-frame advance mode w/ visible frame counter
-ability to record a move or sequence of moves as a ghost w/ input display so you can practice your timing
-ability to download said ghosts
-ability to setup scenarios (eg. knock down training dummy with ryu's sweep, hit a button to save state. hit another button to insta-load previously saved state. practice safe jump.)
-ability to set opponent to constantly attempt reversal when an opening shows up (exiting blockstun, wakeup, etc.)
-visible hitboxes and attack boxes
-ability to select any stage / music etc.
-ability to turn damage scaling off, or life to permanent 100% (deals only grey damage) so that you know how much damage your combo does without waiting for it to regen 100%
-fight requests come through in training mode, and not just arcade
-ability to play online in training mode (as a player match option)
-sagat to not juggle you in the corner forever when he has infinite super meter (who am i kidding, i would do this too)

One thing I know would improve Training Mode would be the ability to reset with the click of a button (select button preferably). This is a feature of Guilty Gear and it really, really, really makes training mode more proficient.

Not confirmed in any way, they're just demoing two characters in an early version of the game, training mode just doesn't look too flashy when introducing new characters.

A save function would also be nice for training mode, that way we don't have to redo our settings everytime, A frame countdown would also be nice

Well, for Arcade mode, I want to fight more characters. And give characters better rivals, cause Ken's rival being Rufus is dumb as fuck. Rufus' rival being Ken makes sense though. I was expecting to fight Ryu when I was using Ken.

Also, for battles period, there should be a special opening before the battle when you play certain characters like in other SF games. For example, Ken vs Ryu and they toy around with each other, or Ryu vs Akuma, or Ryu / Ken vs Gouken. Let them have special animations before the fight start instead of just the regular opening.

Also, I like it when the characters talk to each other in Rival battle, but I want characters to communicate with each other in a fight on ALL battles and modes like Soul Calibur 4.

Ken's Rival isn't Rufus.....it's a one-sided rivalry. Although it doesn't make sense why you fight him as your rival in arcade mode. Whatever, I don't understand lol

I wouldn't mind something like Alpha 3's World Tour mode, where you have to win each fight under various conditions.

I'd also like to see an expanded Trial mode where you have to perform special tasks for each character, like destroy a fireball with banishing flat and then perform SPD as Zangief.

I know its a one sided rivalry, thats exactly WHY I though his rival in SF4 being Rufus is dumb. He went to the tournament to fight Ryu, not Rufus.

I don't think that is what he meant.

This is slightly mulitplayerish, but I think this is really important.

While waiting in an online lobby, or waiting for someone to jump into your game, or... where ever possible, give the option to load up a training dummy, and have an overlay of whats going on, whether it's booting that one bar connection without exiting, or the lobby chat.

Anyway, yeah that's probably too close to multiplayer, but the best suggestion I have for single player is the ability to record tutorials and upload/download them like Little Big Planet levels. Besides the obvious training recording tools you already have, in addition you will need:
-A timeline and the ability to pause/slow down the replay portion.
-The ability to add text, particularly in the paused portion.
-The optional ability to meet different conditions to pass the tutorial, similar to having to include all moves in a combo before the combo count resets in a trial.

Basically this gives users a trial mode that is updated as people learn the tricks in the game. Obviously including all the necessary parameters to make the tool flexible would be a massive undertaking, but it would be worthwhile in the end, especially when it's a system that can be established and easily maintained as new fighting games are released.

I have updated my post: multiplayer is ok to talk about, just dont overdo it with to many different modes (splitting the online community) and dont talk about lag.

Customize mode, with Ace included, EX4 fo' reel.

On a more serious note, I would like an Ace like character customization option since 3D models lend themselves to this so much more easily than 2D as long as the general joints are close enough together in functionality it could totally work out and be very fun! Although of course I'm sure Ace2 wouldn't be tourney legal...

It would be nice if we could use some of the options that are in survival mode, like no ultras, no specials, no ex etc for versus

The training mode needs to be stepped-up BIG time.

Frame data
Set the CPU to use certain moves (ie/ Id love it if I could train against a CPU rog that does all the dashes over and over so I could get used to them)
visible hitboxes PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! + !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
what would be FECKING sweet is if it were somehow possible to record shit that an opp' does in 2 player or online and play it back in training.. i dont know if tats possible though.
Fight requests in training
switch characters without the F***ing loading screen
be able to switch between recording player 1 and player 2 and which the player is using
A CPU which is actually goood an doesnt jump into SRKs all day
would be cool if you could somehow have a different player send training scenarios over (eg. ie. they record set-ups, you DL them)
change training stage

... meh.. that'll do
other than that; the trials should include scenarios.. these should all pertain to the fundamentals of SF gameplay so newplayers can actually go through a trainingthat will help them

and make the fecking trial combos practical please!!! not : 'Have Viper do a FFF ultra.... why?

Keep it coming guys and galls! Dont forget more singleplayer modes, im really interested in a tournament mode witch you can customize with poules, single elimination, double elimination and so on.

The training modes are cool, i really like to see hitboxes

PS: just got two neg reps for this thread, 'stop making random posts', maby they are right.

Why do we need more singleplayer modes? Training Mode, Versus Mode, Netplay Mode. Bam.

How about a two player online training mode. Where you can get a friend and just try to do combos and set up without the worry of losing life energy.

I believe you are looking for the 'record' and 'playback' function already present in training mode.

Frame data and hitbox information would be spectacular, however.

Since we are probably going to get a total of 30+ characters, the Arcade mode should be either longer (15 opponents) or be like 3rd strike (10+ stages, choose 1 out of 2 opponents).

When starting up arcade mode, we should get theese options:

Rounds: 1 - 3 - 5 - 7

Time: Inf. - 30 - 60 - 90

Damage output: 4 levels

Difficulty: 7 Levels

Costumes: All Alternate, All Normal or All Random

Color: Random or off

Stages: choose from 5 up to 35 (or any other maximum, dont know how many chars will be in the game)

In-game match intro and match ending: on or off or rival only

Arena's: Random or player-selected or fixed (fixed is for character specific arena)

Player side: right or left or random (for training in both sides)

Some of above are totally useless, but some might be fun to have, either way: its to much. This means that 2 or more options must be cut out.

Team Battle mode. I always liked Team Battle in Tekken. Pick up to 8 characters on your team and fight until one player's team has been completely defeated.

Who cares about single player modes? I just want a better netcode, lobbies, ability to save any replay locally and improved training mode.

for when i get bored at being too crap online i would like:

a campaign/story/world tour type mode.
something like a cross between alpha 3's world tour and soul calibur 2's edgemaster mode.

I have requested politely not to mention about netcode, and next time be more specific what you want to see with 'improved training mode'.

To actually answer your question: Lots of single player modes gives players the chance to learn other characters....

no, scrap that, forget what i said above, read whats next:

Lots of single player modes gives us theese things:

- Lots of ways to entertain yourself when you dont want to play online.

- Lots of ways to entertain someone else, that you want to bring into the world of fighting games.

- Lots of ways to train with a character

- Singleplayer may force a player (example; story mode) to play a character that he dint ever think of using, this way you can fight opponents that have found a real main character to play with, rather than a shoto.

So basically, you need singleplayer modes as much you need online play.

how bout the ability to train with a friend over xbl or psn through training mode..like you know how you can have it set to computer controller, human..how bout..send an invite to a friend of yours, so you can train with eachother with infinite health and show each other tricks and combos without the restraint of health bars and time limits..that would make my training a lot more memorable ;) just an idea.

Your not the first one that mentions this. It seems that there is a lot demand for online training.

no, what I mean is to have the CPu randomly use moves that are custom prioritised. So the player can say 'have rog use the dashes in a radom order'.. with 10 second recording you know the pattern before it even hits you.

Online training mode. (Not very practical, but sometimes I want to explain things to certain friends or have them show me things)

Team Battle mode (This was cool in Tekken)

Save your training mode settings. (Kind of a pain to redo this every time you select 'quit')

For a single player mode, I would like something akin to the Quest mode in Virtua Fighter 5, or the Ghost Battle in Tekken Dark Resurrection, where you play against a variety of opponents (where each character fights differently depending on which "ghost" you're fighting), and not just the same computer AI for each character like how SFIV currently is in all modes. More specifically, I'd like to see the computer AI actually use simple player tactics like FADC ultra, tic throws, and so on. Playing through a Quest/Ghost mode to unlock taunts, costumes, colors, achievements, and so on would be much more fun than the current time and survival trial modes in SFIV.

Mr List

i was just going to say something like that.

create seperate bots for each character or have different types of AI to figth against.
