View Full Version : $20 Super Street Fighter 4: Would it help or hurt?

Ono said the game wouldn't cost $60 this time around, but did not say exactly how much it would cost.
What if they decide to sell the game for $20 right at the start?
Hardcore gamers would buy SS4 regardless of how much it would cost (within reason), but
What about the rest?
- SF4's ratings + the Capcom name almost solidifies a solid game
- @ $20 a pop, even the most reluctant gamer would "HAVE" to buy it because it's so damn cheap. I know I'd buy 2 or 3 as presents & it would be great for the fighting community.
- It gets more people online & that's always a good thing
- Yes, the experts will probably eat them for breakfast, but that's actually a smaller number compared to the number of casual gamers.
(if there were ratings category or icon that showed how good the player was, that would help deter the Noob fatality rate. Ex.
Noob: "OMG! look at his Skill Level: PRO stats! Run Away!!!")
- Casual gamers would have a fairly even advantage early on (again, excluding the small # of pros), & may even get hooked.
Comments, Ideas welcomed

its probably going to 30 or 40 at most. 20 = too cheap because even sf4 right now 40 bux.

In this day and age "Expansion Price" = 40$.
Or they could do like VF4:Evo for the PS2, and make this the "Greatest hits" version of SF4, which would then make it 30$.
I'd gladly be proven wrong and have it be 20$ though.

As Rsnake said, you have to take into account the original version. They don't want vanilla SF4 to outright stop selling, so what they want is to give SSF4 a competitive price, but at the same time keep SF4 selling with a reasonable profit margin.
A $20 price point just won't allow that.

Scrubs wouldn't get a good trade-in value = \
I'm expecting $40, nothing more or less.

$20 = around £15
Do budget games really get released around that price in america?
Over here you'd be lucky to get a 2nd hand ds game for that price lol.
(Although I guess it would be a good way to reel in a lot more people, I mean how many gamers would turn down a game for less then anight out at the pub, all depends on weather capcom and stores would still profit from selling it)
Maybe $25 online downloadable and $40 for a disk based CE package would be better?

I'll personally buy extra copies for old roommates who didn't mind being my punching bags.

Knowing microsoft, they probably skim ~20 off the top. I predict 40 bucks a pop.

As of Capcom is gonna waste an opportunity to cake off of niggas
edit: I know I wouldn't, so yeah...like most people. Prediction is around $40. Minimum $30.

If SF5 is planned soon after it's possible they'd release it really cheap to build a huge fanbase, the games already on a roll though.

$30 would be ideal for me. It'll most likely be $40, which I'm OK with too.

Definitely gonna be $40 to bring in new people at a good price point. It's not like people that play SF4 currently aren't going to buy the new version.

Me to 40..See the thing is. you can play Sf4 on your SSF4 disk. So its not really an only character disk. And in some stores SF4 is still 40 bucks. So SF4 + Fixes + new characters, cant be lower then 40 really if I think about it. Then again it can be a kinda, price drop from the other game to get this, so yea.
But well see idk. I don't think money would issue them to much , since they already made tons for SF4.

$40-$50 is what I figure is going to cost. I will buy it no matter the cost, unless they were like $120+....I guess I just love Street Fighter too much, gotta take the money out of the safe and wall.

Get a job. It's very likely $40. But even if it is $60, I would still buy.

It will help consumers, not sure if it will help Capcom. I do like the fact that it's not going to be full price. I would say $40 will be the best price for it. I just hope I get to keep my DLC costumes I bought. They can release a new costume package for the new characters.
$20? Do you know the cost of a single Blu-Ray disc? They're hardly going to turn a profit.

I see this game being released for $40. I would pay $60 for it, us pre-09ers all would.

I honestly don't know how much I'd be willing to pay for it. $60 is a laughably low cost for some of the greatest videogame experiences you are likely to ever have.
