Hi everyone,

Yesterday, for the first time, I enjoyed fighting a Balrog/Boxer player.

Not because he was any different from previous Balrogs I've fought: the first thing he did was turtle back, trying to build meter for his "1-screen-long punch attack" (can't bother to look for its name now).

So it seemed like the typical attrition combat against a CheapRog.

I was preparing myself for that when I decided - "what the hell. I'm not going to use cover on this one". I just stood there, not blocking (I love Dan's standing idle animation, by the way)

Of course it didn't take long before Balrog did his predictable thing: a 1-screen-long punch attack. Surprise surprise.

I don't know why, but in the last moment, instead of covering, I pressed standing medium kick.

Lo and behold, I kicked the boxer's fist and sent him back! Out of sweep or lower jab range, so he could not punish this!

I lost that fight, but I was happy to find a counter against this brute's main attack. I believe my future combats against him will be much less boring now that I know this trick.

Dan gets awesomer every day.

Was this his Crazy Buffalo or his other attack that got stuffed?

I'm pretty sure he's talking about TAP (Turn Around Punch).

As a boxer main, i would say that the boxer you were playing was a scrub. Here's the laundry list as to why:
1. the only reason most boxers would use Tap is to get around fireballs, which is comical vs Dan since his gaduken goes all of about 5 feet.

2. the fact that he was charging tap past 2 is stupid.

3. most good boxer will only TAP once or twice a whole fight (usually because they are holding kicks after an ultra and they need to get access back to kicks).

4. TAP from full screen is just asking for trouble. as boxer, you NEVER do anything from full screen.

Also, i don't know where you are in championship/ranked matches, but TAP is far from a main part of Boxer's game. you need to be more weary of rush uppers, headbutts, and jabs (standing, and crouching).
