How come no one has made a anarkis thread? He's a pretty good player with the right team. How come no one uses him? Please post any strats whatever. My trap is him with doom just call doom jump to the other side and do the back forward pp and it will do some chip.

I WILL BE MORE THAN HAPPY TO BE THE FIRST REPLY HERE!!! it's about dam time srk had character forums for separate games. right now, my best team is Zangief (ground)/Anakaris (variety)/ SonSon (anti air). i'll convert gief to mech mode with the help of sonson to keep them at bay. then i just go for straight out chasing and SPD attempts. i connect the SPD either ground or air, because either way, the opponent will get madder with every SPD i connect as mech gief. often, the opponent will roll to recover from SPD.....but they are rolling right into a FAB as they try and combo to slow down MZ before doing a safe move and i ready the rapid 360 motions. then when mech gief is anywhere below 25% left, i'll switch him out for anakaris and go for the corner curse infinite. i'll try and get them into a mummy wrap, call MZ lariat assist and otg them into a short combo to they pop up into the lariat, i jump back and curse and POOF!!! then i repeat. but i noticed on human-controlled smaller characters, they will we in crouching hit stun reverting from the curse and will not be popped up into the lariat. i still need to test out if a lp-cobra blow wil tag them, or if i need to launch em into it to start my infinite. tier-wise, SonSon's the best on my team, but i won't go into strategy with her cuz this is an anakaris forum.

Yo, I'm trying to pick up the ancient pharoah, but I'm having trouble finding a team that works with him. I did have Anakaris/Ryu/Tron, but it didn't work out too well. Right now I'm trying Anakaris/Doom/Capcom, but what would be some good teams with him? Also, with Anakaris, do you rely on ground chains a lot? I find myself doing launch, lp, lk xx Super Cobra Rush with him most of the time.

Naw anarkis is more of the keep away character but he has some good traps with doom! Just call doom when they are in the corner and then b, f pp and get ready to see some chip damage! But his air combos are pretty hard to land. If not just always try to connect his b, f pp as that one and his pharoah illusion do the most damage.

anakaris a keep away character?
well, he's no pixie (in fact, he's everything opposite a pixie is), but has a nice rushdown mix-up game
he's a somewhat power character with great simple combos
dunno how anyone could consider him a keepaway character. superjump coffins can keep away for maybe 3 coffins, but after that, anything goes.
i'd say he's more grappler-comboer, cuz mummy wrap adds so much to his game, and it's comboable too in the air, and it's possible to combo after the wrap. if he didn't have mummy wrap, he'd lose a good 60% of his game.

Grr...having trouble with the Pharoah Illusion...How do you juggle them consistently? I always mash the heavy buttons, but I never get anything done...:(

Which direction do you want to juggle them? I juggle them like this. After the he turns into the coffin you have to hit them on the way up. Then i do -> lp <- hp repeat thats how i juggle them.

How can I juggle them well if I just do it out of the blue? Say I do it randomly and they are surprised by it, or I Pharoah's Curse them. What would I press to juggle them then? I don't care how they juggle, so long as I get big damage out of it :D
yea... i cant do the pharoah illusion either....
any ez way to combo into it?
cuz i always get owned by sent/storm when i move,

use whichever kick button corresponds to that part of the screen.
(without holding directions)
lp = left hand slaps right
hp = right hand slaps left
lk = left hand rises the opponent up
fk = right hand rises the opponent up
what i do if i can catch the opponent randomly with a slap is use the correct kick button and hold the direction opposite that hand (if i use lk, i hold right. if i use hk, i hold left). then i alternate the punch buttons to get an average of 7 total hits, 9 if i'm lucky with the mashing.
on cable, max hits i've gotten is 12, about 100 damage

Well you got two options, 1. Which assist you have. Say you got someone like ironman or psylocke which has them in the air for awhile the just lp lp --> lk hp then juggle how you want. 2. Just get a combo in the has a launch at the end then real quick lp lp --> lk hp and it will connect! See you guys later!

Well I'm starting to use him with Sentinel and Cable (for now until I find someone else)...but he works well with Sentinel with drone support. He takes a terrible amount of damage though, but fun to use...

Yeah... Cable/Sentinel is great because it lets you play most any mid tier character as your first character. That tandem is my bread 'n' butter that gives me room me to use the actual *fun* characters. :)
Even when my Anakaris gets totally 0wned, at *some* point you should be able to get in at least one clean super jump with your opponent still grounded... once there you can usually build up a meter or two or three if you drop your coffins effectively. The key is that he hovers during the length of the coffin fall and has pretty quick recovery, so well spaced coffins can keep Mags and some others on the ground, chip them down, and let you charge and let your assists recover.
That's not going to work as effectively once they start respecting your Anakaris and knowing his limitations, though... if you establish much of any kind of pattern with Anak, he tends to die. But he's mad fun like Dan because there's no way you should be able to beat somebody with that piece of mummy junk, and yet... he can steal some matches.

Both of them can start infinites off of Cyc AAA.
Not to mention, Anakaris/BH may be a good trap/zoning combination.
*too bad that team will get rushed like there's no tomorrow by Mags, Storm, and Sent*

I could list a whole lot of stuff but heres a few...........
One team I uesd (thats out of the ordinary ) is Anakaris,Dhalsim Tron. It may not seem like a big team but it is if your good with Dhalsim. The easy way to do his infinite is launch opponent knock them down into Dhalsims anti air and then do the curse..you could use Zangiefs (.Anakaris has 3 resets that work well but it envolves a lot of air dashing off the ground like really fast like mags but you can't control it once you do it . Its Sjump dash Fierce,Roundhouse
Then pyrimid drop, then go low or start it all over.

i am just wondering which super do u guys uses when DHCing into anakaris?
the only 1 of his 4 supers i can pull off to DHC into him is super cobra rush(back to front +PP), and it seems i am unable to use any other ones.
it will be cool if i can DHC into his Pharaoh Illusion...:D

I usually use his Cobra Rush, but at times like when I have the opponent in the air already I use his Coffin Drop super, but it isn't as reliable. Sometimes the first Coffin will hit and then end up knocking the opponent out of range of the rest of them. If you get lucky though, sometimes (especially when the opponent is already in the air) they will be caught by the coffins and basically un-able to block or escape for most of the super.

can sumone pls post the basic combos of anakaris?
the only AC i can do with him is lp->lk->super cobra rush. i am having MAJOR difficulty in trying to connect mummy wrap (both lp and hp) in his AC. whats the timing how should i link into it? i know it doesnt do alot of demage but it looks awesome in a AC! :lol:

Anakaris (variety) Strider (variety) and Doom (AAA) works pretty well. Strider's assist helps Anakaris' zoning game and Doom can help with chip damage. And obviously Strider and Doom go well together.
By the way the mummy wrap is mostly used to keep him safe after a blocked ground combo. Blocked lp mp hp sets them up for QCF+hp.

Anny is one of my personal favorite characters.
The first thing to keep in mind is this: dont select him for his supers. Pharoah magic and Illusion are nearly impossible to do and dont do enough damage to bother with.
Where Anakaris truely shines is his royal curse, cobra blow, and Mummy drop atacks.
I personally find that royal curse works best against very big characters, since the atack can only be done in mid air, most small characters will have plenty of times to dodge or block it. But guys like Juggernaut wont.
Mummy drop is probably THE best special throw in the game. It does a decent amount of damage and it builds up your super bar quickly.
As for Cobra blow, I dont use it often with this guy, but I will throw it in occasionally when fighting keep away characters.
Anakaris' other big strength is his slow jump time. While this may seem like a disadvantage to some, its great for avoiding beams and really big beams. and also for fighting with high flying characters.
People who make great Anakaris partnets are usually ones with no reach, Like BB hood and roll, his ground assist (the cobra blow.) eliminates the weakness these characters usually have. (plus their hyper combos complement one another.)
Thats what I say about Anakaris.

Anakaris has a lot of potential (too much to list in one post). So I'll try my best to teach ANAKARIS 101 (WHEN POSSIBLE). Before we start, check out the scale rating starting with least skilled, to most skilled!

This rating system doesn't neccasarily mean that you'll always win, or lose, but how well you can use him! I.e. flawless excution of his moves, hyper canceling, combos, etc. Know 2 things before we start: 1)To utilze any character in this game, you have to think of them as well trained pokemon(so no character sucks!). 2)Like Rodney King, Anakaris says that WE ALL MUST GET ALONG(meaning all three characters you plan to play with!)!

Whoa!!! It's been a long time since my last post here in shoryuken. I was also one of the Anakaris user here who keeps on posting Anakaris related topics but gone after 1 1/2 years. Now that I'm back.... I should say that I'm now a very good Anakaris Player in our place than before!!!
I'm a pinoy and live here in the Philippines. I've been using Anakaris 3 years already!!! My current team is Anakaris/Storm/Son Son. We almost have similarities with Easternpinoy because he also uses the Anakaris/Son Son team-up. I also post topics in gamefaqs and my name there is "Anakaris Curse". Anakaris/Son Son Air Unblockable is justt too powerful!!!
I think I'm going to rate myself as Super Anakaris according to the previous post. I've got my own vids or matches in my home... soon to be downloadable.

Anakaris and Cable one on one huh? I've thought about that some time ago and here's what I think... ANAKARIS OWNS ALL!!!!! Just Kidding. Seriously. Considering both persons playing are good, if Anakaris slips up, he gets AHVB x 3. And everybody knows Anakaris takes damage like nobody's business!
Most Cables I see usually attack their opponents by jumping in with a Roundhouse kick, or Stun grenade followed by Viper beams. Anakaris can counter his air RH with his launch, but what then if Cable blocks it? I like to use Anakaris' Mirror Drop as an offensive deffense in my game. For example. As soon as I see Cable going for his HVB (while grounded), I throw him as long as he's within range. Other times I'll bait him by S.jumping and throwing a couple of coffins. My current and only team is (in this order) Anakaris (Cobra Blow assist), Sentinel (Drone assist) and C. Commando (AA assist). I got tons of moves I'm sure that people never knew were possible with Anakaris!

You must be this gabriel. Well anak vs magneto well if he Sj's right away do a coffin drop if it connects do the pharoah illusion then just slap that bitch around:). Vs storm hmmm when they Sj and start doing repeated HPs do the illusion and knock them into the DHC. Vs cable use doom anti air and sj-dash to other side of cable and do the cobra rush down cancel into cobra rush super. Just chip him or combo him till hes gone. Your screwed against sent. Post more people.

I'm not Gabriel, but I've been on the wrong end of the mummy more than anyone else in the game, and we've discussed a TON how Anak fights everyone else. And there is absolutely no dispute Gabriel is the best Anakaris player ever.
First of all, Anak's main combo is launch, lp lk super. If you mash it correctly, it's 55-70 (!!!) off the bat. If you're not getting that much damage, then you're mashing incorrectly. This is the only super that is worth anything, except maybe DHCing into the Pharoah's Curse, and even that is iffy imo. Storm is the best second character, because DHC into hailstorm is instant win. Remember, it only takes one hit!
Anakaris is more of a rushdown character than anything else. His overhead game is almost as fast as Magneto's, and hurts more (instant death). Trust me on this, guessing gets stupid. He also has some really important tricks, most notably his ability to easily infinite with like 3 good characters (Storm / Dhalsim / Cyke), his unblockable one-hit kill setups, and his ability to damage runaway Storm.
The most common one
Infinite with cyke (not in corner):
c.short + cyke, c. fierce /\ sj. curse
Just learn the timing. In the corner you can just launch and super them.
Infinite with storm-B
launcher + storm /\ sj.fierce xx curse
Most of his unblockable setups involve getting the corner, getting an opponent in grab range, throwing them into the corner and then infinite / launch. Either way it's game. I don't know them off the top, but some of them involve blocked hits in the air into the hands, landing, and then forcing a blocked chain into hands. The opponent obviously needs to be standing, but most people do stand.
Opening matches involve launch into infinite (if they are going to the air), or overhead, which if it hits, is an infinite.
I think the best teams are Anak / Storm / Cyke or Sent or Tron, although Gabriel will ONLY play Anak / Storm / Son-Son, which is also dangerous. Tron makes Anakaris just as dangerous close range than Magneto. EVERY Anakaris team needs Storm in second if you're serious.
Anak is decent against Magneto one on one. Poor stamina sucks, but you hit so hard that it's decently fair. You can c.fierce all air attacks cleanly, and if you miss you can do b,f+jab to cancel it and be relatively safe.
Anakaris owns Cable one on one. If Cable sj's then he needs to guess when he lands, and that guess involves overheads, and a wrong guess is more than half-life. If Cable just jumps up, then he needs to worry about getting wavedashed under, or Anak can sj. up and drop coffins. And no matter what, at close range Cable will just get rushed.
Problems for Anakaris are Sent/Capcom and Cable/Sent. Anakaris / Tron seems to be the best solution for this.
But Gabriel would be the end-all answers for all of this.

I'm not gabriel. But who is gabriel?! does he have any tourney videos available to download? We both use Anakaris/Storm/Son Son. If he's the best Anakaris player around, well I will be HIM here in the Philippines hehehehehe.
What I do against the 4 God Tiers(especially one-on-one):
Against Cable:
Anakaris really owns Cable One-On-One and I'm consistently winning every scene like this. because I can confuse him easily with no worries of AAA.... I'm pretty confident to do all of my best with Anakaris vs a God Tier. Every standing HP he does(with the exception of his scimitar), i'll just jump then air dash with lp,mp,hp immediately and you can air combo him.... snapback or any move that is possible to reach. When he does hp in the super jump mode and you blocked it, just push block and retaliate with a coffin drop (only if he's already going down and can't do an AHVB to you). Just continue using his ground chains on the ground and pyramid rush him, confusion is the key.
Against Storm:
Just use your long range moves like sj. hk whenever you are about to land. If she's keepaway. Be also a keepaway character. There's no risk. Whenever she does a Typhoon in the air... just drop a coffin, its pretty fast than expected. RUSH HER ALSO !!!especially in the corner!!!
And one thing more.... in order to keep you storm's opponent do a Hail Storm.... DO a super jump with a curse so whenever she does a Hail Storm....... even if you get hit, the curse still moving towards her and she will be hit!!!! FREE COMBO/SUPER/INSTANT KILL/CURSE INFINITE!!!!!
Against Magneto:
Well, if you'll ask my opinion, this will be the hardest. What I just do is just to avoid being rushed.... I jump so after hitting me with a hk rush, I can retatiate quickly with lp,mp, then any combo which leads to curse infinite or instant kill. Rush him also in the corner especially when there is no Psylocke. Anakaris/Son Son is his weakness. He can be easily thrown away with Son Son's AAA then capture him with a Mummy Wrap in the air UNESCAPABLE!!! Repeat it until he is dead.
Against Sentinel:
One of my favorites...... He will not be able to reach you whenever you're in the air and doing COffin Drops/curses because he's big to receive it. He can't just fly/unfly with the presence of Anakaris' Curses/COffins and his long HK.
Another tip, if youre near with him and he does super drones, after the first batch, capture him with a Mummy Wrap(depending on your distance), or even earlier(before the first batch hits you) TRUST ME...... I've been doing this until now. It only requires good timing.

I think Anakaris has some interesting properties, most notably he has some Dhalsim like range, speed in normals, and that he deals insane amounts of damage.
Against Magneto and Storm, you'd be surprised how effective sj. coffins are. Mostly throw them to cover your close frontside repeatedly, and it's hard for people to get in. They need to run and try and sj. projectile or hailstorm, which you can try and read and long-range coffin drop. Or at least, this is what happens to me haha. The best way to fight this is tempest xx hailstorm, so the Anak player needs to be honest!
Sentinel's worse enemy is Anak's sj. lk, which is key to fightning him when he flies. Having some AAA is useful, because you can call it, sj. and quickly drop a coffin for cover, and pressure Sentinel that way pretty safely.
Anak can assist kill pretty efficiently with stuff like launcher, lp lk super, which characters like Cable can't deal with. They need to wavedash under you, jump behind you and AHVB, which gives you plenty of time to hailstorm. Best is with Capcom:
c.lk + capcom, c.hp /\ lp super xx hailstorm. This deals about 110 damage.
There's also an assist reset with something like
c.lk + capcom, c.hp /\ lp lk xx cobra blow xx super.
This is hella hard to do, but I think it's like 110 without hailstorm to an assist.
I think me and Gabe are playing in a tournament on the 30th, so I'll see if he's bring his camera and we'll post some matches.

Well, I will be waiting for it. Just post it if its available already. Its really fun and inspiring watching Anakaris Tourneys. I also got mine but not yet online. I use Anakaris/Storm/Son Son also.

My team is (in this order) Anakaris, Sentinel and Captain Commando. I usually rush with Anakaris with Sentinel drone assist to back me up. It is also possible to combo into any of his supers. Mostly when given the opportunity I use his Mirror Drop to grab enemies out of their supers:D . You should see the look on the other players' face:D .
Some supers I've grabbed players out of are Jugg Head Crush, both of Mags supers, IM's Arctic Attack, Cable HVB, and any of Sentinels three supers just to name a few. Some pretty close ones were Storm's Hailstorm and War Machines (not the Proton Cannon, the other one). I had to dash across the screen to grab him. One bizzare incident occured when I grabbed Psylocke out of hers. It's the one where shes surrounded by that purple plasma and she chrges at you. I didn't think it would connect but it does!
It would have been real nice to see more of his moves in MvsC2 from Dark Stalkers though. I only really get a chance to post on weekends, so I'll post more later. PEACE!

Hey. I use to play MvC2 a lot but quite and now my friends from college are getting back into it. I'm kinda new to Anakaris and I was wondering what Anakaris's unblockable setups were. Also, are there any infinite combos which don't start off with hint from Anakaris + launcher? Can you combo into the Storm and Cyclops infinite? Thanks in advance.

Same here... I forgot how you do the infinite without assist and the unblockable when people just came out of the screen.
Besides doing the cobra super, is it not better to do the coffin super when you are in the corner? I am just looking for a simple but very damaging combo.
BTW, I am going to play Ana, storm, psy. What do you think about that?

Your team is alright. Psylocke is a good assist for Anak. It ensures he has to jump as little as possible. You NEVER EVER EVER want to jump with Anak when you can avoid it. You can fart on him and guard break him. He also has a one-frame DHC which is always nice (B-F+PP into hail).

Here is the deal:
Anakaris+Storm+Psyclocke
The reason why I wanted to play this team is because of instant overhead. Well the thery goes that Anakaris and storm need a little protection... Hence the idea of Psyclocke. However Psyclocke and Storm can do a nice instant overhead. Anakaris and Storm can also do one too (i.e. see Zaza combos). Moreover Psyclocke can handle a lot of characters on her own. That's MY theory... the problem is that the overhead Psyclocke and Storm is harder than I expected... Moreover this team is not very good against Sentinel. If this monster is sitting right above me and keep on doing HK in a corner, I am pretty much doomed.
Anakaris+Storm+Cyclop
So I came up with the idea of playing this team. Instead of Psyclocke, you use Cyclop for the infinite with Anakaris. However I feel MY Cyclop is a very lousy character. Besides the nice priority of j.HK, all his combos are much harder. I rather use Psyclocke. However this guy can help me fight sentinel.
Anakaris+Storm+Capcom
Why this team? Well my theory turns around Sentinel. I want to beat that bastard. So the idea is that Capcom will keep Sentinel either a little far or trying to block my assist, Capcom. If he run a little far, I jump and grab him. If he blocks, I jump and do LK, LK, bf HP, grab HP. Capcom is also pretty good against cable. However I seem I don't have anymore Cyclop for the infinite.
Hence my latest question: Can you do the infinite of Anakaris with Capcom? If yes, how would that work?
c.short + capcom, c. fierce /\ sj. curse?
And which assist do you prefer?

don't forget that you can also do a curse infinite with Psylocke AAA.
its as simple as Anakaris/Dhalsim curse infinite but Anakaris/Psylocke requires fast movement and really good timing.
c. lk, c.hp (call PSYLOCKE AAA) ^ sj. hk(moving away) "apply some timing, lk curse.
that's one of my teams......... but I prefer Anakaris/Son Son for anti-sentinel and Son Son AAA is a big help for Anakaris Unblockable setups. Son Son AAA also helps Storm a lot!!! I'll soon have my own video matches against my comrades using my Anakaris based teams.............

I tried the infinite with Anakasis and Cyclop but I keep on missing my target. The opponent was way too low for the curse to hit.
I did: c.LK, c.HP+call cyclop /\ j.LK, curse LK
Anyone knows what could have gone wrong?
Since I am a complete scrub, can you tell how to do some unblockable moves with Anakasis?

I guess the unblockable lies into your opponent jumping, you calling Sonson standing on the ground, and grab your opponent while he is blocking Sonson.
Ok now I am thinking about a weird strategy. Please tell me if it would work out. If I were Sonson, and my opponent just fell on the floor, could I just call Anakasis assist (grab) and sonson would wall climb, and press kick? In theory, my opponent would have to block high and would not be able to block Anakasis grab. Then I would keep on doing that non stop... like an infinite. And if they decided to take the hit of Sonson, I would do the basic c.LK, c.HK /\ LP, LK, super staff, uppercut HP for more damage. And if they jump, I would normal jump and do uppercut (which is this unblockable because he just block two normal jump attacks) into super stick.

yes4me, it will be good, but not that advisable to keep on using it especially when they know it already. Beware of Cable and Sentinel for that. i'll try what you were trying to imply..... but I just can't really do it against Cable because hardcore players here in my place already new my Anakaris/Son Son well.
About the Anakaris/Cyclops infinite, here's my setup:
If you are cornered or in the middle of the screen, you should be moving towards the opponent after the launcher(during super jump) but moving away if the opponent is cornered:
c.lk, c.hp (call cyclops) ^ sj. lk, sj. mk, (assist hits), lk Anakaris' Curse

i like anakaris as a mess around character, his stone outfit is really pimped out :cool: too bad his normal jump and stamina sucks. anyway heres some combos i use
launch, jab,short,strong super cobra rush, this is a VERY damaging combo, from 50-near 70 percent life gone from cable. instead of inserting a cobra blow just go right into the super while the opponent is next to you, and mash out coffins. dhc from something like storm hail and the opponent is in serious shit lol.
dash jab, jab, super cobra rush, dhc from that (ironman proton cannon or sent drones works well)
corner combo, launch , jab, short, strong, jab cobra blow, jab, jab cobra blow, jab mummy wrap (takes a good amount, more than 50 percent life without using a super bar)
i'll try to come up with some more combos later :evil: that was after one night of practice lol
also you can call assist from a superjump, while youre in superjump after throwing some coffins or whatever, do f, df, or+rh (the pyramid move), then airdash, you can call assists on your way down after that.
edit, heres a couple more combos
dash jab, jab, f, lk, fp (anakaris transforms) slap them silly. im pretty sure this combo works on everyone, the trick is to dash while jabbing, you cant do normal jab, jab super. the third hit is anakaris launching to the air, obviously you have to do this really fast but its quite easily and very fun to watch :evil:
storm/anakaris
launch with storm, magic series, lightning attack XX lightning storm, cancel immediately to fk, lp, d, lk, fp super. dont let them start falling, and it connects perfectly. it really does alot of damage, if only the OTG was guaranteed afterwards it would be a near 100 percent life combo on cable :eek:

nice vids! good to some some anakaris reppin lol, i'll try to get mine in shape i think hes a pretty damn good character. in the first vid shows alot of what hes about.
-dont use normal jump alot. i think i only saw you use it once, obviously its not a good thing to do with that slow jump
-use his dash to get in. when you first start messin with anakaris and his dash looks pretty dumb at first. but its very fast and when you cancel into attacks he can literallly drop anywhere on the screen. it was cool how he just breezed by doom aa and attacked omega, hehe.
cool sets up like air combo , sj. jab, jab cobra block, rh (blocked) and then grab. i dont think the opponent can escape that unless they eat the rh.
also theres a sequence later in the game its something like dash d+short, d+short then an immediate jump df+rh (the piramid) how did you do that? :lol:

as usual, anakaris only gets hit by omega red when he normal jumps, his jump is so :lame: i think its what turns people off to this character immediately. d+fierce punch really shines in this match, that move stops alot of rush down.

Very nice vids and nice use of anakaris.
Anakaris has some crazy normals, probably the most unexplored char in the game.

honestly........ my Anakaris or the performance of my Anakaris-based team is better in an Arcade rather in a Home Console like PS2....... because I don't have a console in my home. I only practice in the real arcades. Omegaredish (my opponent that you saw in my posted matches) invited me to record some matches with my Anakaris against his teams, he's very good with Omega Red!!! Oh yeah, He already knew my Anakaris' weaknesses....
btw, i'm just an average Iron Man and Sentinel user.

i agree that Anakaris' c.hp almost owns all rush directly above him.

how do you combo the rh, jab, down, lk, fp super in an aC? i seen the vids but the super cancel is too slow for me :( is there a technique to doing it or do i just need to do it faster? i have slow hands :lol:
anyway, with anakaris/ironman you can hit a dhc to proton cannon anytime you throw someone on the ground and have 2 meters. if you also chose sentinel and have 3 meters, you cancel proton cannon to hyper sentinel force and opponent is pretty much dead off of one throw.
also ironman AA protects anakaris nicely from rushdown. its only useless against cable but you really dont need aa when facing cable. against magneto when he rushes in you could do stuff like standing RH (which avoids all lows) +ironman, throw a coffin near you, that would be difficult to get through, hehe.
standing rh is a very underrated move! you cant hit anakaris low for a long period of time. if someone comes in for a quick dashing low hit standing rh, fp cobra blow XX super. if they come through the sky, use d+fp, hes got an OK defense with those two moves right there :evil:
also with ironman hes got beef up combos like dash +jab+ironman, short, strong, forward (ironman hits twice) launch, short, strong, b,f+pp (super) mash snakes out. since ironman AA always brings your opponent back to you, this sets up the super cobra blow super nicely since youre near the corner, they eat almost 60 snakes each time :eek: thats like 70-80 percent life using only one super bar, and if you have storm dhc behind that its an automatic kill.
you can also do infinite with ironman AA
launch+ironman, ub+rh (immediately) cancel to pharohs curse, repeat.
anakaris can really do damage! :cool: keep the vids comin

but today...... I only got one vid uploaded. I didn't win in this match. And if you'll wonder with my storm especially in the last scene of my match(not connecting LA xx LS) I'm doing a reset and I'm having difficulties on the controls in doing the storm reset.
In my match against AL3X(Cable/Sentinel/Cyclops), i've shown how ANAKARIS beats SENTINEL.............. just check it out.
BTW, my opponent is one of the TOP players here in the Philippines. IMO, he's in my top list.

:eek: Ok, wow, this thread changed from 'anarkis isn't that great' to 'he rocks' the last time I tried learning this game, anarkis had next to no following, now two of my fav. characters are considered very highly, now I think its a great time for me to play this wonderful game. However bear with me here ... as I am still learning the ropes by a huge margin.
Right, what is the viability of removing the 'main stream' caracters from the team, I notice a lot of setups leading into his infinate, wich is obviously very viable. But I see a lot about anarkis having control of the game. Forcing the opponent to move to were he wants them to move, via coffin drops etc etc.

Would this be a viable keep away game? I play against a LOT of main stream players here, magneto infinates for africa and being a complete :lame: n00b its very hard for me to keep up, however sent has me completely facinated .. as has ana and black but wat I want to know would be does anyone have any ideas on how I could work, say, this team, ideas? Good or Bad team, etc etc.
And can someone explain to me why everyones goin on about Tron, so much about Tron here, is she an excellent assist? And if so is she a viable character to use during a battle. I see a great deal about Sonson also (sonson\\anak) I'm sorry for being a n00b but can someone dumb this down a bit for me till I get some vids? ( at work, gotta get home )

hehe i was just slowly picking up this game at my local arcade n to decide to give Anak a go.... i normally play MSP but my MSP sucks anyway.... well i was just messing around wif MSA but got challenged.... since i had ABSOLUTE no AAA that mag dude did crazy rush down on me.... Anakaris had no chance.... and after he managed to land a LK in.... 104 hits.... dead anak :(

Short desc of his 300%, by Viscant:
Anakaris takes a pile of damage for a few reasons. He has two advantages which are pretty big. He can chain off his overhead which people thought was tremendously abusive. He also has the doll move. The doll move means that Anakaris has a 300% combo. If I low short you, unless I mess up, this game is over. Low short, launch, call Cyclops, short, forward, doll. Now, combo meter resets. That means my assist counter resets. I do it again. I do it again. I do it again. You're dead. Now I guard break with call Cyclops, do doll. (Either way, you get dolled up). Repeat as necessary, adjusting for weight. GG.
Anakaris has possibly THE most abusive thing in MvC2, yet doesn't get played. You'd think someone would have invested the time and got really good at him. Play like Anak/Cable/Cyclops (his throw makes AHVBs fun!). But...nobody ever took him really seriously but me and I don't really like him, Come to think of it, I don't know anyone who does really like him. I just play him in tournament every now and then to 300% someone and to get perfects on people.

This is a late reply, but, for anyone interested, the way that works best for me is:
launch,/\, sj.b+lp, sj.hk, sj.f+lp (Cobra blow), tap down, lk, hp.
This works because the hk is canceled into the cobra blow so that it doesn't hit and the input for the super is used to continue the combo. The only hard part is how fast it must be done. But with some practice it should get easier. :razzy:

Anakaris is really the ONLY one in the game with a true Infinite( and thanos),everyone else you have to do supers, or throws or escapable resets.
If magneto didnt do supers/switch outs, wheres the infinite?
you can only juggle up to about 50 something hits b4 they bounce to the top,but i guess nobody's thought of that:confused: Same with Ironman,Wm,

I can't seem to do the inf. with anakaris and sonson AA. I really like this team with storm, but I just can't land it.
On a side note when I tried to practice the inf. with my brother, he would sometimes get hit by the curse, kinda weird because I did: c.lk,c.hp,sonson AA, sj.fk, curse. Ok, he would get hit by the hk and sonson AA but wouldn't get hit by the curse. As he was falling back down the curse was still moving down at an angle cause it didn't hit him at all. I know he was blocking but it's like the curse hit his ass literally like behind him as he was falling. "unblockable" Give me ur input on this. sorry if I didn't explain it well. thanks in advance. really need help on inf. with sonson.

hmmm I'v been using Anakaris/Storm/Son Son (It is somewhat an anti-MSP) for 2 years already and still didn't make a 100% effect anakaris/son son curse infinite.... Sometimes it works with big characters but not that really 100%..... maybe i'll improvise more later. Btw, where do you play?

Thanks for the info. I know this is a good team and I really don't want to change sonson for cyclops mainly cause I like to kick ass with her. I think she has a better rushdown that cyke does. I've only been playing this team for about 2 months and believe me I used to get killed but I guess experience is the only way to learn. Now I can get at least a couple of wins in a row but I still have trouble with cable. Neways I play at tilt in harlingen, tx on saturdays and in pharr, tx on fridays.
If u have ne helpful strats with anakaris let me know. I'm still trying to get the c.lk then do overhead with sjxxd.hk for quick combos. Any suggestions. thanks in advance.

Anakaris is also good against Doom Blackheart Sentinel or Cable.
One of The most effective Anti air in the game belongs to him,
Once the other player losses their Anti air via Commando,
Sentinel/ Or Cable are just sitting ducks for those coffins,
that you can do all day log once you hit the top of the screen.
*sigh* I wish they would have given him his teleport in this game:sad:

Well Gabe came by the other day and we had a bunch of good matches. I got him enough times with my anakaris teams and others like marrow, megaman, captain america, ruby heart, etc. He got me plenty of times with his teams also. Wish we coulda taped the matches. I believe I'm right under him with anakaris skill. almost there.

Some things I posted in the low tier thread, figure I would put it here too. I have a lot more where that came from.
anakaris doesn't even need tron to kill, one sonson reset kills everyone except like sent. two resets involving sonson overkills sent.
ex: square jump lp, mp, hp (or hp, hk) land, cr.lk, cr.mp+sonson, sj. cancel the mp after 2hits of it, airdash .lp, lk, land on other side reset with...
launch
or instant over head launch
or low kick launch
or instant over head, dash in lp, lk, cr.mp+sonson all over again
overhead snapout
or cr.lk snapout
or instant overhead dash in lp, lk, launch, curse infinite (then options when cursed)
or unescapable idle hands with appropriate followup
or etc. etc.
or, of course, instant overhead, instant overhead (2 instant overheads are usually ok whether on block or hit a la magneto), rush down with tron, lp, cr.lk (hit or block) instant overhead, squarejump sj.hp, sj.hk, land combo etc. etc....basically just mix it up/rtsd with tron into shit.
keep in mind whenever you do something and then go under launch with Anakaris it puts them in the perfect position for an easy max damage superCobraRush.
also when launching you can launch+sonson and then go superjump to the other side while sonson is hitting, then she knocks characters into Anakaris to do lp (or lp, lk) super which also is perfect positiong for the super. it does combo [this I learned from Gabe. When no curse infinite is available after a curse this is probably the next best thing with dhc's, snapouts, and tagin's to possible combos/infinites being up there also]
or launch+sonson, sj.hp, airdash to other side reset, lp (or lp, lk) super death lol
there's other kooky things you can do.
eek im gonna see what deadly things I can come up with. also some tricky though not too damaging/impractical things too...I need a stick lol, damn dc pad, I think I'm wearing it out...
keep framekilling dhc's (super cobra rush or coffin drop) an option for anything also
ground idle hands is also a super ghetto sent unblockable. it's unescapable if landing on it as far as I know. the timing isn't hard at all either. if someone can confirm it's unescapable that would be great! if it isn't, adding it to low kick/overhead options is still great.
if they roll there's plenty of mixups to do. then when you convince them not to roll, dash in cr.hk storm lightning attack assist hits to coffin drop is something gabe does
what I do with my ana/im/sonson team is dash in cr.hk XXsuper coffin drop(or cobra rush works too) dhc proton cannon
or if you have sent dhc hsf
or other dhcs
unless you idle hands them into the corner, then of course it's death, gb next character
opponent in corner: whatever combo into cr.mp+sonson, sj. cancel sj.lp, sj.lk, land on other side unescapable idle hands, they land in corner then it's curtains...CURTAINS I SAY
you combo to death or
curse infinite to death or
snapout or
teh tron etc.
and of course guardbreak next victim

Not many characters have normals that can stop that angle and if her d.rh makes contact, its free tron + mixup into potential infinite.

Not many characters have normals that can stop that angle and if her d.rh makes contact, its free tron + mixup into potential infinite.I've been using ana/chun/tron for a while.
trying that cr.lk while a cursed op. jumping around makes it a bit impractical. but if you can catch it a couple times it's coo. then just kill em with an air comboXXsuper
chun+tron is evil but of couse you already know that =P d.rh stops sents shit too at certain angles
I like killing assists safely (or semi safely) with that team.
launch + snake super (stops a lot of physical attacks) uh oh, so your opponent is gonna do hail! or photon array!...soo...DHC to kikou shou! (invincible)....uh oh they're gonna do another super....DHC to servbot hammer! (blocks stuff if in right position) nice defense while killing an assist
yes it's not always very likely, but quite humorous when pulled off in those certain situations =P it's just dump.
whenever I get a chun AA hit I combo a coffin drop since you don't really have the option of sj. idle hands. coffing drop hurts.
for dhcing purposes...if you need to. ana's snake super leaves them in enough hitstun to combo, say...a proton cannon. but to make it easier try launch, right away a lk (goes upwards) snake super (start with top snakes) then dhc to kikousho or something. your ana should be low to the ground
in corner your could do that, dhc to chuns SRK super, or kikoshou and then go for kikoshou super semi inf. I need to play this team a bit more (but chun/storm/psy is too good...chun becomes Magz jr. with psy).
don't forget the most important of all, matching colors!
Pink team
Green Team
Blue/Yellow and Blue team
Red/Yellow and Red team
you can still use chuns AAA for snap out help/otg and resets type of thing like with son.

yeah just play it similar to ana/son/tron
in the corner you can do a launch, snake super DHC chun's SRK super DHC hammertime OR lunch rush (gotta time late for that lunch rush, almost when chun's super screen is about to end.)

cr.lk+IM, cr.mp, sjc after 2nd hit of mp, air dash, qcf+k
you qcf in the direction you were facing and dashin, but anakaris will switch sides with the op. because of IM. but you still put in qcf+k and anak will turn around right before he sends out the curse. it all combos. you have a bit of leeway with timing. can OTG. op in corner you should wait a bit longer to qcf+K from the dash
you can use that same setup (cr.lk+IM, cr.mp, sjc) to do stuff like sjc, ad lp lk, land on other side mixups and for max damage Super Cobra Blow.
or sjc, when about to land sj.lp, sj.lk, land, crossover, launch max damage SCB or uncrouchable idle hands...
