Can someone tell me how to do the infinite of magneto and some good combos ?
Reset

the primary infinite I use and pretty much every one else uses is the rom infinite. It goes like cr.lk, cr.hp, sj.hk, airdash down forward, sj.lk, sj.mk, land sj.lk sj.mk airdash down forward sj.lk, sj.mk. Keep repeating the last part. The method I use for the fast part of airdashing with lk is the thumb method. when you do the two kicks coming up pause for a second the with your index finger and middle on the dash buttons and thumb on the light kick button dash down while using your thumb for the kick. it takes a lot of practice to master.

arite... combos...
terms:
jd = jump and hold down
lp = light punch
lk = light kick
hk = heavy kick
sj = super jump
repeat the brackets.
xx = cancel
c.? = crouching
s.? = standing
j.? = jumping
sj.? = super jumping
otg = on the ground
aduf = air dash up forward
addf = air dash down forward
addb = air dash down back
whiff = doesn't hit (it's in the slide.. cuz if u just air dash, u wont land, just hover there for a sec. u need to whiff the air dash
magic = magic series... (lp, lk, lp, lk)
i'll give u his basic infinites.... and some other combos...
check it...
NORMAL JUMP INFINITES...
1.(normal characters - cyclops, mags, storm, etc.)
launch, sj.hk, addf, lk, lk, land, [jump.lp jd.lk j.lp]
2.(big characters - juggs, sentinal, hulk, etc.)
launch, sj.hk, addf, lk, lk, land, [jump.lp, lk, lp, lk]
ROM INFINITE
launcher, superjump, hk, addf, lk, lk, land, [sj, lk, lk, addf, lk, lk, land]
SLIDE INFINTE
best way is off of assist or c.lk, c.fk XX sj XX a/d down lk(otg), c.fk XX [sj XX addb lk(whiff), land, c.lk, c.hk]
some other combos that are newbie friendly.....
-dash, c.lk, c.hp, sj, sj.magic, hypergrav, xxtempest (ultimate newbie combo... not reccommended in a fight, unless it's against ppl on ur level. it's too easy to mash out of)
-dash, c.lk, c.hp, sj, sj.magic, aduf, sj.magic, hp
-dash, c.lk, c.hp, sj, sj.magic, aduf, sj.magic, hypergrav, xxtempest. (same thought as first one. you can also put another hypergrav, xxtempest before the aduf... so magic, hypertempest, magic, aduf, magic, hypergravtempest)
-hypergrav (only one starter... use psylocke assist instead), tempest, dash, OTG, c.lk, c.hp, sj. pick one of the other combos that i said before... u can link any air combo into this)
-dash, c.lk, c.hp, sj, sj.hk, addf, magic, sj, magic, addf hp, land.
^^ this one is just a combo that i used to use before learning the infinites. it helps u get out of the habit of doing a magic right after the launcher, and u only hit hk, and then air dash instead.
GOOD ASSISTS:
psylocke (anti air) - good for resetting combos, as well as a sneak up for rushdowns, and a setup for a "no hypergrav" tempest.
cyclops (anti air) - good for resetting combos, and the sneak attack. u can't get a tempest out of it though.
ironman (anti air) - good for setting up for a tempest. u can jump above him, and do it, as soon as the first repulsor hits.
sentinal (projectile) - good for setting up with OTG combos for mags
doom (anti air) - great, because mags sucks at chipping. this way... in corner, dash, assist, tempest, dash, assist, tempest....(thx philopia fer tellin me that), but if they push block u, do not do that, cuz the chip damage will do nothing.
captain commando (anti air) - works well for anything. fucking, prolly the best anit air in the game.
that's what i put down in the other thread

go to www.forgo.net, download MWC5 jwong vs valle finals. wong pulls that infinite a few times on blackheart. watch that, study it, and learn the combo
laters...
BTW, rom is much much more effective.
launch, sj, hk, addf, lk, lk, [land, sj, lk, lk, addf, lk, lk]
there's more variations...
land, sj, lk, addf, lk, lk
land, sj, lp, lk, addf, lp, lk
land, sj, addf, lk, lk
land, sj, lk, lk, addf, lk..
yadda... it's basically the idea of the combo.. i seen it done once with a full magic.. that's friggin hard..
land, sj, magic, addf, magic,
i have no idea how he did that... any word on this one???
then again, my eyes could have been decieving me.

One trick with the infinite is (I believe Geekboy and reset has mentioned this any number of times) when after pressing the two punch buttons together to air dash down, *slide* your finger to lk.

u could do claw too..
hit lp + hp with index and mid, hk with mid, and lk with thumb.

Good point! Even though my 3rd and 4th are my main playing fingers. But every individual player's got a comfort zone I guess.

newb help:
I got mvc2 a week ago and im kinda lame using mags so here r a couple o questions bout some stuff that i cant get to work:
1.- ppl ussually block my hyper grav during the aerial rave before i even attempt tempest. Will the tempest guard break if i do it or am i just a slow modafucka?
2.- If i do psy AAA to lk infinite (sj. lk, sj. lk, addf, sj. lk, sj. lk, land, sj. lk... u know...) my FIRST air dash goes right beneath the guy... whats wrong with my timing?
3.- I'm having HUGE trouble with the psy AAA to c.lk, c.hk XX hyper grav. combo... as well as storm's aerial lightning attack XX lightning storm (and that one does't seem that hard)
4.- whats magic? is it the low to mid thingy in aerial raves? oh, and whats tk?
5.- Cable OWNS me... and aint mags supposed to own HIM?!
6.- How do u roll in the ground (safe falls)?
7.- How about the uses for pushblock (plz feel free to post detailed answers to this one)
8.- How do u manage to NOT get frustrated when u cant get ur so-hard-almost-daily-practiced moves like really often and a mid-level player starts giving u trouble and u just feel like going OMFGOOOOOOOOOD!! (see, mvc2 is first picnic outside the tekken world... and in tekken 4, only advanced players gimme trouble)
If the major newbz helpers like hadoken king and iron thread and the rest of u guys could gimme a hand here... "your patronage is very much appreciated"
FF X and Ocarina of Time were SO the shit :D

1: might be coming out with the tempest too late .. make the hypergrav and tempest into one movement
2:you are more then likely ad/df too soon
3:see answer to number 1
4:lp , lk , lp , lk = magic
5:anyone can own anyone if you know how to use them correctly.. you just have to watch how the person plays
6: this is in the book that came with the game READ IT!!!!
7:this could take hours but the short version is basicly to "push" a person back while blocking for you to excape and also to counter traps and things like that .. if you can download videos check out the "advanced tactics" video , its all about pushblocking
also pushblocking in the air is a bad thing for 2 reasons .. one it will break your gaurd when they stop so you cant block .. two it dont puch them back . it actually brings them in a little closer
8: get over it , keep practicing , and learn from your mistakes .. try mixing things up more .. ALWAYS DHC (delayed hyper combo) out , not just switch out ..

The grav won't hit by itself. The fact that it *does* hit when you do Grav-XX-Tempest is I believe considered a game glitch dealing with a touch of frame-killing time associated with Tempest start-up. That is, normally the Grav takes 4 frames or so to travel to your opponent (blockable), but IIRC the Grav in Grav-XX-Tempest takes one frame to travel to the opponent, which is why it only in that case isn't blockable (but is shakable).
There's been discussions of this elsewhere, but the key is you're seeing the right behavior - Grav by itself just won't hit You've got to do the whole thing, potentially wasting levels as you learn the timing. :)

I think I can relate to that. On this one MvC2 cabinet, almost everytime I try to tri-jump, I keep throwing airblades instead. And that causes my mags to get raped quickly. That's so damn annoying!!!

i do that shit all the time .. pisses me off .. but you just have to learn to say forget it and keep going .. some sticks are really sesitive .. like 360's .. i cant play for shit on them for some reason .. but i dont play much with other people unless im in a tourney or people come to my arcade to WAIST money playing me not knowing the first thing about it .. i just think of it as an extra match of practice ..

Ok i bought a new ps2 and start playing mvc2 again . Now i have some good combos to start but Magneto is so damn fast so i need to be quick with the buttons and guess what , when i start the rom inf. i do it so quickly that i press the other buttons by mistake and the inf. and motivation is gone. My question is do i need a joystick controller or is that i suck.
P.D: I started to play again just 3 weeks before this date 4/09/2003 . Your recomendations will be acceptable thanks. And do it fast 'cause i'll enter the Air Force soon.

You can do it with a pad.
There's a couple ways to setup for infinites such as ROM. I'm not a complete expert, but someone taught me these.
First, u can setup from an anti-air. EX: Psylocke.
Psylocke, C. lk, C.HK xx SJ lk lk (pause) dash d/f lk, small pause, lk
Then there's Psylocke C.lk, c.hk xx hypergrav, c.HP, follow up, HK dash D/f + lk, small pause lk
Or you can just lauch, follow up, hk, d/f, start ROM.
The important thing really is the timing. Don't just go sj, lk, lk, dash d/f. You're gonna miss unless ur doing it on someone like sents. I suggest not practicing on sent yet, as then you won't get the pause down.
Before you dash d/f, wait like half a body length of mags to be higher, then dash d/f and lk, wait for a small fraction of a sec, lk again. It's important that you dash down and lk very close together. You wanna make it sound like you hit all 3 buttons at once, but really, you hit dash d/f lk so close, it sounds like they sync.
The second lk is important that there's a small pause, otherwise, you won't be able to sj and lk quick enough to combo. When sj up, lk lk is ok though.
Like i said, i'm not an expert, but this is the advice of an expert

Ok. Tekken, eh? lol i am the tekken king (and i am wussy enough to declare it in an all capcom forum). well. i digress. don't get too angry. think of the "mid-level" players as "your-level" players. treat them with respect, they play the game and practice it just like you. I learned this with tekken. there are some insane idiot button mashers using hwoarang, thinking they are sooo leet. you have to be patient, reverse them/parry them, etc. etc. Same with mvc2. mid level players that play will play and try to win. it's the whole point. I hope all your other problems go answered. I don't know WHAT the HELL you're talking about lol probably b/c i'm a scrub, but there you are.

Whiff=doesn't hit (it's in the slide , if you just air dash , u won't land , just hover there for a sec. u need to whiff the air dash). BTW you are so freacking lucky i don't even make one repetition :depress:is like my magneto had an appoinment in the glue factory:fury:, cuz i make the lk,hk and he don't super jump . What's my mistake can enyone help me?

I got a question here! I can do the ROM now all the time!!!
but On the Rom infinite is it better to do just one hit on the way up? Why?
P.S. thats simple if you do D+lk, D+FK, SJ and he dont SJ, its because you dont return the stick to neutral before that SJ.
For this infinite:
NORMAL JUMP INFINITES...
1.(normal characters - cyclops, mags, storm, etc.)
launch, sj.hk, addf, lk, lk, land, [jump.lp jd.lk j.lp]
I've having problems doing the magic part the second time around, since the other character always falls on the ground first. I was wondering if it's because I'm doing the magic part a little too slow or maybe the two lks right after I dash? Someone please help me ^-^
Also, for the ROM infinite, how do you super jump so quickly, everytime I land and try to super jump, I end up doing a regular jump instead and whenever I do manage a super jump, it was way too slow... Would appreciate it if someone could give me a bit of timing tips.
Thanks for any help on clearing this up.

I usually get that from trying to Tiger Knee the motion myself. It works better (IMHO) to go from DB straight to UF, then just hold DF and dash.

On the normal jump inf... Try doing jump.lp.jd.lk.mk instead of that mp..I know that helped me when i was learnin' it. also try having some kind of rythim when performing it, it should be medium fast. jump fast too after the magic series.
On the ROM a lot of it involves learning to bring the stick back to neutral and going from there...if you regular jump its cause you are not down the d,u motion, if you are doing it too slow..start by trying it of Psylock's assist....Call out Psy.D+lk,D+mk, D+FK return stick to neutral then motion D,U (SJ) lk,mk pause airdash down lk pause mk... i cant stress enough how quickly you must hit lk after the airdash down..

Ok i think i understand it now, the one lk gets your opponent lower to the ground so that you can do more lk,mk reps...I kinda got this from doing..Launch Sj,lk airdashDF lk,mk, Sj lk.airdashDF lk,mk, SJ.lk,mk, blah blah blah...I might be wrong though

HOW THE FUCK do you play with ur ring finger?
my mains are my thumb, index, middle, and pinky... i use everything cept my ring, unless for the hk in rom setups
on question actually...
i've been feeling more comfortable doing rom like this...
hk throw ^, dash, clk, chk, [sj, lk, lk, adD, lk, lk, land]
i like to add, cuz when i go forwards i usually end up losing the combo when i land..
is there any advantages to going forwards? and if so, can u plz tell me what i can do to prevent from going forwards...

Do I repeat " [jump.lp, lk, lp, lk] ". Like I land after that and keep jumping and doing those? I am really new to infinitives. Also, How do I do triJump and what's it good for? Also, on this youtube vid, what kind of infinite was sooMighty doing on Jwong's Sentinel?

what you repeat is [j.LP, d+LK, LP, LK] there should be a short delay between each hit, and don't press the first LP immediately, he should jump up some before the first LP.
in the middle of the vid, soo was doing [sj.LK, LK xx addf, d+LK, LK, land, j.LP, d+LK, LP, LK], repeat...
