I'll try that. The sound has been a little messed up on a couple of other games. Probably just need a new plugin.
It's handy playing on ePSXe though as I can set it to 60hz even though it's a PAL disk.

I tried the eternal spu plugin 1.41 and I got the music.

Thanks, I'll try that.
I tried Petes OSD (I think) one last night and it wasn't working.
I might try different CD-ROM plugins too.

Yes, it's a better game overall, plus Challenge Mode is a lot better.

what modes does SFEX3 and EX+ Alpha have to offer?

EX+A has a harder challenge Mode. IMO the characters are just better overall in that game and more fun to play, especially broken Zangief, Darun, and Dark.
EX3 has the best engine IMO, and the Tag System allows for great combos and creativity.
It also supports 4 players, 2 on 2 tag matches with friends is damn fun.

EX+a has
Arcade
Team (ala CvS but without grooves)
Survival
Practice which also includes Expert mode
Options
Versus.
EX3 has
Original mode
Arena which includes
-tag
-team
-dramatic
-multitap of the above
-and facing the bosses
Character Edit (basic expert mode for only the editable character)
practice
options

SFEX+@ has Allen Snider, Blair Dame, Sakura, Gouki, "Satsui No Hadou" Ryu, "Chi No Fuuin" Hokuto (as separate character), Cycloid Beta, Cycloid Gamma, and you can play with Garuda, Vega and Gouki (CPU Version) after finishing the Expert Mode...
The only thing that I don't like of EX1 is the damage, if you like to play with damage low... EX2 is better...

I picked up EX1 real cheap the other day. I was playing it tonight, going through the Expert Training Mode, which I think is the best feature of the EX series.
I had only rented this game before, like, 8 years ago or something and I could only complete about half of the missions. Finally I was beating pretty much everything. It was still frustrating in places, but I managed to complete all but 5 that I thought were too hard and would have to wait for now.
Eager to save my progress, I went to the options menu, memory card, save-
UNABLE TO SAVE, CARD IS FULL
No! Why can't you just go to the memory card, delete shit and return to the game?!
Ah well, I like training mode. At least there's no timer in this version like in EX2. For some reason I was always determined to get a better time!
On a related note, 2 of the missions I couldn't beat involved having to do Bison's Knee Press Nightmare after his Kick Throw. For some reason I couldn't pull it off. Any ideas on what I should do, or what I could be doing wrong?
ShinjiGohan
12-24-2007, 11:21 PM
What part of them are you having trouble with? Getting the knee press nightmare to come out after the throw? Or is it something else?
ShinjiGohan
12-28-2007, 01:26 PM
answered his question in pm.
Now I've been doing some testing, and apparently whether its been momentaried or done manually, you can only double jump in the air once with pullum. If you try for another one either by momentary or manual input it won't come out :(

I forget, but is there any difference between the console and arcade versions of EX2+? I'm thinking of getting the PS version for training modes and all that jazz.
ShinjiGohan
12-28-2007, 10:44 PM
AFAIK the only difference outside of slightly worse graphics, is the addition of Hayate who was removed from the arcade version of EX2+.

I want to buy SFEX3, but I've heard it is slower than EX2.=(
Is this true ?
ShinjiGohan
12-29-2007, 08:03 AM
They both pretty much play at the same speed. Though I'm not exactly sure to the milisecond.
But as long as you're playing a competent opponent then it should be fine. Unless you're into GGXX or Marvel speed, in which case any of the EX games may feel a tad slow.

I tried it today with a cd image... The main differences are loading times, frame rate (not full 60fps), more jaggies, and arranged soundtrack.
And I think Excel time might be a bit shorter on the PSX.
ShinjiGohan
12-29-2007, 03:37 PM
However none of that actually affect the gameplay. load times are none existent in mid battle, just an annoyance outside of them.
Framerate, obviously since it was on the Ps1 back when 480i was the standard. But its nothing that a deinterlacer can't fix.
Jaggies, again the ZN2 was basicly a suped up PSX so the graphics would suffer a bit.
arranged soundtrack which again, doesn't really affect gameplay.
On excels, judging from matches, they both seem to be about the same.
Hi i downloaded a while back some ex2+ fights from acho really good stuff , is there a site that gets updated regulary with ex2 fights of good players i'd love to watch more

Just for completeness sake I had too lol.
?AC, at the moment there really isn't any group of players or a site that regularly releases EX2+ matches. Hongkong used to do it on http://www.fightclub.com.pk/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=414 and www.shinryuken.com. but shinryuken isn't up anymore, and I think stuchina.net is down now as well.
At best, your two options are youtube (occassionally there are some peru or japan players that release videos) and a-cho.

I got around to testing the frames for floaty jumps.
In some cases like SF2 series, the jumps in EX are a few frames faster.
In the case of Alpha, the jumps in EX are about 5 frames slower.
In the case of 3s, the jumps are about the same, maybe 1-2 frames faster in EX.
So again, this help to prove that jumps in EX are not floaty.
From what I can tell in SF4, the jumps do last in the air longest of them all. But thats about 5-7 frames longer than EX. So it really isn't too bad.
random EX3 question
i distinctly remember doctrine dark, after snagging someone in the dark wire and yanking them with back and punch, being able to do jump forward super early roundhouse to knock down, thus enabling him to land directly next to the downed opponent and drop a super meaty explosive, circa EX2+
now in EX3 it doesnt seem like he can do the jump roundhouse the same way, or at least he cant do the super meaty explosive anymore, which kind of takes away some of his old mixup potential - any ideas on how he can maybe do this?
ShinjiGohan
01-02-2008, 02:30 AM
There are several set ups depending on the opponent.
you could try jumping back hk, into a j.fierce and land next to them.
You could also try c.mp, j.mk, land explosive.
you could also try explosive, p.momentary, land explosive.
However with the tagging, he really doesn't need to depend upon his explosive, cross up to win.

I was actually gonna do this same test. I think the only reason why people think it's "floaty" is because they aren't used to seeing 3D sprites behave that way. Good job on testing this.

The problem I think is that EX and SF4 are animated just like a regular 2D SF game. However 2D SF is pretty damn choppy. And when its put into a 3D form with hi resolution, you can easily see how poorly animated it is. However EX does have a lot more frames of animation to help fix this, but still it was never meant to be animated as smoothly as a Tekken or Virtual Fighter game..
ShinjiGohan
01-02-2008, 11:36 PM
Ok I've added up the sums of the EX jumps, On average each SFEX character is in the air for 41.11 frames
In A3 their average jump appears to be 46.56.
Both numbers came from the "All About" books for respectively A3 and SFEX so the data is impecable.

He's talking about the unblockable set up with Dark.
Dark wire, dark hold, knock the opponent down toss an explosive on the other side of them before they get up.

this is whati don't quite get! how is it different in EX3 other than the fact that dark doesn't have an actual cross up in EX3?
ShinjiGohan
01-04-2008, 11:48 AM

still, according to this guy the setup dosn't work the same, how so?

My guess is that the timing might be different, either with the cross up, or possibly the kara canceled explosive... to be honest when I played against Jester this last may, I had a harder time getting the set up than I did in EX3....

You mean adjusting to playing in a non-lag enviroment lol.
Anyway I played some EX3 at gigawatts again today. Didn't lose at all while we played that. However I did play some KOFXI, we ended up switching around the controller but I tended to stay on, and was about 10 to 10 when I stopped at started watching other people play. It isn't a bad game, but I'm not used to the odd placement of the tagging buttons... it'll probably be a lot better on a stick than a pad.
and I should be playing some EX3 at Dais place tomorrow. Though he doesn't have a recording set up :(...
Kyousuke, I'll check those matches out soon.
BTW I experienced a really odd glitch during my first two matches. I had a team of Darun and Dhalsim (in that order) against Sakura and I forget who else. We were in the forest stage and Darun was able to tag out normally. But when I tried to tag out Dhalsim, Dhalsim did the tag animation but he didn't get off of the screen and Darun never came out. On top of that I couldn't tag for the rest of the match, and the camera was going crazy. Anyone else notice something like this?

Yes, the game isn't bad, but needs more speed and the config is uncomfortable...

not really. I've never seen any offical info on it, and sadly I never got into EX2+ enough to be able to tell.

darks dark shackle can only be completed up close and no longer has the range found in ex2p.

don't feel too bad about it dude! the lack of interest in ex3 makes discovering new stuff quite slow and therefor, what you're seeing now may not have been as interesting back when the game first came out.

ok, i know i mentioned this last time but i think "safe jumps" exist in EX3! -an extremely late jump in on a downed apponent is essentially safe from certain reversals. i think super turbo also has this...
can anyone confirm this?

Safe jumps really depend on the start up of the move that would be used as a reversal. For example, its hard to safe jump on zangief because typically his lariat comes out in 2 frames., meanwhile flash kicks and shoryukens are slightly easier to safe jump against since they have a longer start up.
I know from looking at the frame data that safe jumps existed in EX1, and I'm fairly sure that they also exist in EX3, but without frame data I can't really varify if its true.
To above, yes the main play has typically been Tag Team from what I've seen and played. But the beauty of EX3 is that it has a mode of play for everyone.

I guess it doesn't matter since tick throws aren't as good in ex3 as they are in super turbo.

against pullum!
I suppose you can, but it also depends on the opponent and how high her kick momentary hits you. But typically after the 2nd one it will no longer combo (again here is where the character and spacing matter for whether or not it'll combo) and yoiu could recover from the hit/block stun before she lands from the 2nd kick momentary.

Actually, picking the correct partners is more important than the actual tiers. For instance, 2 top tier characters may not work as well as one top tier and one middle. Playing for fun is fine, but it will get boring after losing over and over again due to picking a shitty team.

-Ace is broken PERIOD! he can't be at the bottom.
-sagat is definitely good, you've proven this... he probably deserves to be tops!
-garuda i won't argue with since he has both high priority normals and the BEST cretical parade in the game.
-chun li for sure should be tops if you can get that infinite going...
-vega, well i'm flattered...
-D. Dark makes one of the best tag partners in this game and this is a TAG game. he also does VERY well alone, i have to disagree and say he deserves a top spot. his moves may be slow to come out but his trap and pressure game are a force to reckon with.
-evil ryu is better than normal ryu and yet normal ryu beats shadow giest for free. their normals, cross up game, shinku hadouken, and DP loop combo are too good. SERIOUSLY, it only takes one dragon punch on the ground or in the air, and they can both shut down almost anything shadow has with a well placed DP.

I understand, but don't you agree that picking your favorite character does not mean playing for fun and keep losing? (I don't know about EX3, but in 3S or Z3, you can pick low tiers and win;I never really understood the exact meaning of "playing for fun", because you can win and have fun, play seriously and have fun etc.)

I'm just saying it's fine to use bottom tier characters, but is it really a smart idea to pick the two worst and lose 9 out of every 10 games? I happen to like Sean and Q in 3S, but losing 90% of the time to top and middle tiers takes it toll on you.

Yeah you're right, I pick Sean too sometimes to fool around; but if I lose too much I switch back to Urien ^^
I guess I don't know about EX3 a lot, I thought it wasn't as "tier-ed" as 3S, as IMO all characters play the same approx (jump HK, d.MP, d.MK; special move, "SA").

I understand your points, but this list is based in the matches against my friends, then for us Ace isn't a good character, he's slow, weak, doesn't have a good MK and his specials and supers are weaker comparing with the characters that originally have the move, if I play with others and they demonstrate me that Ace is top, well... then for sure I put Ace in a better rank...
Yes, Dark is good, the bad thing with him is that the damage he inflicts is very low, then it's difficult to win a match if your Dark isn't so good, meanwhile with other characters is easier to win...
If I choose Shadow and someone plays against me with Ryu... it'll be difficult for him to beat me lol

"Yes, Dark is good, the bad thing with him is that the damage he inflicts is very low, then it's difficult to win a match if your Dark isn't so good, meanwhile with other characters is easier to win..."
hmmm, i wouldn't say his damage potential is very low at all (then again, maybe i don't notice it since i always have him paired up with one of the more damaging characters in the game, vega/bison), but you do need to be a very competent dark player to utilize his abilities. he definitely isn't the easiest character to play with... i'm still trying to figure him out!

I like to play with Dark sometimes, he's definitely an interesting character...
For example in my list Ken is a Middle Tier, but he works very good when his partner is someone like Shadow or Sagat...
Vega and Dark make a great team, but if you put Dark with someone like Balrog or Jack, then it might be difficult to win easily, whereas my God Tiers can win no matter who's their partner...

The trick is this. Most people try to cancel it like Guiles Sonic Boom into Opening Gambit by using one charge to execute both moves. Bisons doesn't work that way. You have to do the Scissor Kick, then charge back again immediately, then do the Cannon after he completes both hits of the Scissor Kick. It's a very late frame, almost look slike you don't have time, but you do.

ok well here is something I guess I found.
I had a team of Garuda and Dhalsim against a team of shadow and Rosso. Now during this part was Garuda vs Shadowgeist.
Garuda blocks a dive kick upon landing I do the back spike rdp+k and Shadow does his death goverment.
What happens is that we trade hits, I hit him once and he hits me once. Which is a nice way to get out of the block trap but I got to thinking, what if I tried doing a p.momentary from the one hit of the rdp+k move... would the invincibility from the p.momentary allow me to take no damage at all?
Anyone have any idea if this is a good tactic or am I wasting my thoughts on something not practical?

Here's a thought...why did Garuda jump over the moon?
To play street fighter ex 2 +!
I was playing EX3 the other day right...and almost did a 100% with Geif and Sagat...and I was like, "This game is soo fucking broke".
Then during a vs. match I was Vega vs. Chun and did c.LK tech throw and not only did it whiff (for some reason) I saw the horrible throw animation that EVER character has...my friend shut the PS2 off and was like..."u wanna go to cousins subs?"...I was like "no! their bread sucks!" and he was like "exactly!"
LMAO!!!

That question is vague as hell. Which combo are you trying to do and for who?
Ummm... well i'm trying to do maniac mode combos and i notcied from the sample footage that combos that get the s ranks have EXCEL MOVES... then a normal move then a EXCEL again... (In one combo!)
I'm trying to figure how to do multiple EXCELS to get the s ranks the trial mode.
On you tube/videos of these
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=_ri8Xao9gsI&feature=related
I'm trying to figure how to do EXCELS then a normal moves then a EXCEL again because by pressing the buttons to do the EXCEL command again after the combo won't work
Infested Jester
01-19-2008, 10:16 AM
No secret really, the last hit of the excel can be followed by the normal which lets you continue the combo. As for activating a second one, no secret there either, just activate at the appropriate time and start it. Of course there are all kinds of timings and windows when doing these, but that is mostly character dependant. Also some will only work/not work on certain charcters when taking size, height, and weight into consideration.
Thanks.
I've just tried again with Maniac mode for Ryu and i still can't chain the excels into 1 combo. Its confusing no matter what timing that i try to start the 2nd excel it doesn't do it! AHHHHHH! Lol.
I'm pressing the nessacry button combinations and instead of doing the excel it just does a short punch jab which is square button rather than do the 2nd excel!
To confirm that i'm doing the right combination of buttons pressed I've assigned then excel command to my R1 trigger...... and it STILL just does a square button command instead of getting to the 2nd excel!
Sample video
This shows ryu doing three excel combos.... the part i'm trying to do is the link to the 2nd excel.

I have never been in this situation before, but I guess that isn't practical, and if you try to do a super instead of the P momentary?

It's because you're pressing the excel button very fast, you need to wait a bit more...

I like playing with default settings myself, and i still get just as much out of the game. If you're good enough to pull a 100% or near 100% combo during a match then more power to you. as far as i'm concerned, the tag system just makes that fair game. you have an oppertunity to rest (gain meter after a tag out) and revevaluate your strat.

Not sure about EX2, but for EX3:
instead of Cr. HP do this first
Jump HK, Cr. MP, Cr. MK. Hadouken, Momentary HK, cancel into QCBx2+kick, cancel with QCB+K then one of these enders:
DP with HP, cancel into QCFx2+kick
DP with HP, Momentray HK on 3rd hit
Cr. LP, Hadouken, cancel into another QCBx2+kick, or QCFx2+ kick
For EX2...probably better ones, but I do:
take out the Cr. HP and put Cr. MP, Cr. MK, QCB+HK, cancel into QCBx2+kick
then end with
Cr.MP, jump HP, QCB+HK in the air
DP+HP, cancel into QCFx2+kick
jump and excel

^Sexy & thanks for the info Jester, but I don't think you can do Cr. MP, Cr. MK-->QCB+HK with Ken, unless I'm slow or something, but I'll check it :tup:
BTW fun combo with Blair in EXPa-
Jumping HK-->St. HK-->Cr. MK-->QCFx2+K, cancel 3rd hit of super into QCFx2+P, cancel 5th hit of this super into QCFx2+K

No, you can't, only in EX1...
You can cancel C.MK into Hadouken and then a K. Momentary...
BTW fun combo with Blair in EXPa-
Jumping HK-->St. HK-->Cr. MK-->QCFx2+K, cancel 3rd hit of super into QCFx2+P, cancel 5th hit of this super into QCFx2+K
Cool, but you can cancel her Spin Side Shoot (QCFx2 + K) at the 4th hit, occasionally Blair do 6 hits instead of 4 in that super, then cancel the super at the 6th hit...
Also, you can try this combo:
J.HK or HP, S.HK, C.LK, Shoot Kick (QCB + K), cancel 4th hit into a Spin Side Shoot (QCFx2 + K), cancel 4th hit or 6th (depending the hits in her super) into Mirage Combo Kick (QCFx2 + P), cancel 5th hit into Spin Side Shoot again...

OK 3 questions-
1- Is there any difference between the SFEX2 & EX2P OST?
2- Has anyone ever managed to perform the entire command for the Galaxy Meteor Combo? Note that Allen had this move in Fighting Layer
3- What's the deal with the HCF+K after Claw/Balrog's Backflip super? How do you get it to work anyways?

1. Shinji can answer that.
2. Yes, I actually had the timing down for quite some time. Shinji has a vid of the actual move somewhere too.
3. HCF+K is just an easier way of landing his air throw after the super as opposed to jumping up and hitting punch, but it doesn't do as much damage with the HCF+K way.

ok trying a new combo with Ken on large characters
meaty lp.shoryuken (time it so the very last active frame of the shoryuken hits), shinryuken upon landing.
you can also
meaty lp.shoryuken (again time it so it hits as late as possible), k.momentary, shoryu reppa, shippu jinrai kyaku, and follow up however you like.

actually it was an lp shoryuken.
oh wait you mean the end? yeah, that hadouken was only there to meet some other criteria for a challenge.
Personally though I was trying for
c.lp, j.lp, air hurricane kick, shinryuken.
but I think ken might jump longer in EX3 than he did in EX2+ cause I couildn't get him to land from the jump fast enough to juggle the shinryuken.

LK Tatsumaki?
I do sometimes C.MK, Shoryuken, Shinryuken, but it seems to me that this inflicts less damage...
ShinjiGohan
02-08-2008, 01:58 AM
it only really works on tall characters like Sagat, Darun and Zangief. But it might work on Vega and Bison (Balrog and Vega...)
and also only in the corner.
c.mk, shoryuken, shinryuken should do more damage, lemme check it out.
edit
looks like it does do less damage because it doesn't start hitting until later,
you would do more damage if you took out the c.mk/mp and just went straight for the shoryuken and then mashed like crazy.
Kyōsuke
02-08-2008, 02:19 AM
Yeah, the best after Shippu Jinrai Kyaku is do a Shoryuken and cancel it into Shinryuken...
Shinji, what's the best way to do more hits in Kuzuryureppa?
ShinjiGohan
02-08-2008, 02:37 AM
with the program pad the best I've found is
left+lp, right+lk (61 hits @ 196 damage on regular damage and regular opponent, Darun gets 61 hits and 190 damage).
though you could switch those around.
In actual manual use though, I can't seem to get anything going :-\, on average I get about 23 hits on my dual shock controller, though I'd probably get more on a stick. But random mashing got my 25 hits once.
Kyōsuke
02-08-2008, 02:54 AM

Shinji: Good matches. EX3 is actually really good. It was the first time I played EX3 specifically, so I tried to go with what I knew from the previous EX games, as well as 2d SF games. I played that last match pretty decent (the match before I got called to play my SFA2 match), trying to bait out moves, punishing laggy moves, and use of meaties. I'll try and play it some more, but there are so many fighting games that are very good that it's going to be hard to have time for it. I'll try and see the interest at Final Round.

How do you do the sparkly dp in EX3? I think you have to d the exact motino for the dp, but I can't do it on a d-pad.
Also, that do you think of my teams:
Chun-Li/Hokuto
Hokuto/Kairi
Area/Rosso (my worst team)
ShinjiGohan
02-16-2008, 11:28 PM
The sparkly dp is only with Ace. To do it you first must get the shoryuken to 3 stars by using it repeatively in original mode.
At that point it only works on the jab version of the shoryuken (LP). After that, its all in getting the technique down. Try focusing on getting the DF and LP to occur at the same time.
Chunli Hokuto is a decent team. Though you don't have much of an AA (out side of upkick super)
Kairi Hokuto is a very good team at least according to EK. I think he was one of his favorite teams. Lots of mix ups and tools to deal with most situations.
Rosso Area is another very good team. Jester whooped me pretty bad with that team last year. Lots of traps, and unrelenting rushdown.
Luigi-Bo 87
02-16-2008, 11:34 PM
Cool. I forgot about Nanase/Kairi. I used to think I was good with Nanase, but now I'm messing with momentary tag combos into kairi and I don't know what to do. I can't tell when I stop controlling Nanase and start controlling Kairi.
These maniac missions are gay as shit!:annoy: Crouching mp into ex-plosive doesn't even combo, wtf?
ShinjiGohan
02-16-2008, 11:58 PM
It really depends on your screen position. Because Kairi gets control as soon as he arrives at Nanase's horizonal point. So if you're all the way across the screen Kairi has a longer way to run before he gets there. General rule of thumb its safe to do a simple 2 in 1 anywhere on the screen. But if you're in your opponents corner then go ahead and add on a momentary (surprise blow or whichever p/k one combos). You can momentary from midscreen but the timing is just a lot tighter.
For the maniac its the same trick as in the EX+a d.dark expert mode missions.
Lay an explosive in front of the opponent and then jump over then and from there you can punch them into the explosive.

So I was playing earlier today and found out that crouching mk and standing hk combo with Chun-Li. What a silly combo. Also, charge moces feel sunny in this game to me. Most notaly sonic boom type moves. I can't do them out of crouching moves sometimes.
Is there like one site/post with all I need to know about EX3 on it?
ShinjiGohan
02-17-2008, 12:49 AM
yes that does combo, as well as standing fierce into crouching forward. Try tacking on her lightning kick super after that for some added damage. Or simply tag and do standing fierce canceled into a surprise blow.
For a site/post. Such a thing doesn't really exist. I do have a fairly extensive movelist on my website and I've been meaning to figure out the frame data and put that on there. I just don't have much free time >.<
I've learned most of what I know from either doing combo videos or watching videos from the NJ crew, or EK. And well now Kyosuke since he's releasing videos and the other two aren't.
But any questions and I'll try and answer them for you.
For charging moves, I honestly feel more comfortable charging in EX than I do regular SF2, or even the Alpha series.

So I bought this game about 5 years ago. I used to own EX+@ and loved it to death, and I also used to play EX2 in the arcades. Well, I tried to get some friends to play it and they would have nothing to do with it. This seriously bummed me out and so after a week or so I put this game away never to open it again.
So fast forward to last weekend, I have a couple of buddies over and we're playing our usual rounds of 3S/ST/CVS2 when we get bored and decide to try something different. Well i look through my games and notice poor old EX3. I suggest it and to my surprise, they said ok.
We ended up playing for about 3 hours on Saturday and 5 hours on Sunday, and it was some of the most fun we've had in awhile. We played it again today and it was an absolute blast.

I thumb the whole thing. Area seems like she has nasty mixup with her momentaries. I think crouching mp, jacson kic, rape grab momentary is agood start, but I only have the cpu to play against so I'm not sure.
Als, I want crouching mp, crouching mk, standing hk to combo soooooooooo bad with Chun-Li. It just barely misses:sad:
ShinjiGohan
02-17-2008, 01:30 AM
sounds good, then all it should take is a bit of practice if I ever become a seious chun player
unfortunately you can't combo into the jackson kick from anything. Though going adding in the toe heel part of it (F+HK) isn't bad since its at least a top down attack. and you can still momentary from it.
You can also try zoning out your opponents with the DL or upload and get them to fear attacking when its out. Then position it next to them and go for the alternate throw (rape grab lol).
Luigi-Bo 87
02-17-2008, 01:33 AM
Yea, I knew it didn't combo, it was just a janky beginner block srting.
How good IS Nanase's stick super? The part where you can call it towards you. I thought it could be used for crossups and stuff, but you can only call it on the ground and calling it takes a sec and it kinda stays in the air when you jump:sad:
ShinjiGohan
02-17-2008, 01:40 AM
The stick super is actually good for chip damage. Especially against characters that can't jump high (looking at sagat). Because its practically impossible for him to avoid it. He can't jump over it so outside of trying a random super to go through it or try to hit it first he's pretty much screwed. Same with Darun and Zangief.
you can call the stick back in the middle of a combo or block string though. So that helps with mix ups, or maybe a way to recover from a dangerous position from behind the opponent.
Her jumping stick special is also an annoying cross up as well on a knocked down opponent.

How do you do Kairi's super where he goes into glowy chest mode? I forgot.
ShinjiGohan
02-17-2008, 11:16 PM
you can do it in 2 ways. The first is to perform his kamehameha type move and still have life left over after he does it. He'll stay in glowy chest mode until his life bar runs out.
the other is listed here
http://www.streetfighterex.info/SFEX3/Movelist/Kairi_Movelist.html
but if you don't wanna go over there its
lp, hp, mk, f, lk, mp, hk
that takes 1 super bar and Kairi must have low health (less than 10% approxiamately)
Luigi-Bo 87
02-17-2008, 11:19 PM
How good is that mode at high level? It seems really good, bue his health drains.
Also, what's an easy way to do the 3 meteors on Bison? Who should I use and what should I do to build meter.
ShinjiGohan
02-17-2008, 11:29 PM
Unfotunately it doesn't last long enough for it to be of any real use. If you perform the kamehameha move by the time you do it you'll likely have near zero health and the opponent recovers before you do and they'll hit you before you even have a chance to use it
So really the other one is the only useful one but its a hard command to remember much less get it out consistently. And as I said you need to have about 10% life in order to use it. So even then you're only going to be able to use it for a few seconds. It really isn't practical at high level, or even in casuals unfortunately.
For 3 meteors on bison. Set the damage all of the way down so you're doing next to nothing in terms of damage against him.
The characters that I would use would be Darun and Garuda as the characters you pick up during your game. Reason being they both have relatively fast specials (Darun catch and rdp+k for garuda) that'll do not much damage and charge up pretty fast.
On top of that their meteors are multi part. So if you only do the first part Bison won't receive full damage and should be able to survive. So once you land 1 meteor with the two of them, let them die and have your main character come in. He'll come in with a full super bar no matter what and you just have to make sure to land it.
Also reversals are your friend. Luckily Darun has his PPP move which can be used as a reversal and that does no damage so thats good. Meanwhile Garuda has his teleport. You could also surprise blow reversal as well.

My bad, I meant for 1 person.
Who is the easiest person to get a perfect with for the perfect missions?
ShinjiGohan
02-17-2008, 11:43 PM
Well for one person its still pretty much Darun or Garuda.
IIRC there was only 1 get a perfect mission and that was against stage 3. I've used Rosso to get a couple perfects against him if I'm playing aggressively. But if you want you can pick Garuda instead so in stage 3 you fight against Hokuto instead, and since she doesn't have that get hit teleport reversal that cpu garuda has, it might be a tad bit easier.
checking the faq
looks like Stage 5 alone is also a perfect. Since sagat is a projectile character, I'd go with Rosso with his fireball counter KKK move. But if you feel confident in the chunli infinite you can do that too.
stage 4 alone is also a perfect. not much to suggest there outside of setting the damage at its highest level so you can kill them as quickly as possible.

ok I got a japanese demo game of SFEX3. Differences
the only selectable mode is Arena->Tag->Player 1 vs CPU and Player 1 vs Player 2
Only four characters are available
Ryu, Ken, Hokuto, and Nanase
You are not able to pause the game or even go into the options menu, so you're stuck with the default controls.
I believe it was stated before that Ken can not cancel into his hurricane kick in this thread, but it appears as though he can in this one.
I'm not gonna make a list of the available stages unless you guys really want it.

Aren't there hidden characters in the Jap version?
ShinjiGohan

yeah, but I'm talking about the demo, so even though you see everyones protrait (aside from the hidden ones ie top row), you can only use Ryu, Ken, Nanase and Hokuto.

Alright, the EX3 tournament at Evo north is going to occur on Friday June 20th at 2pm. Though I'll obviously try to set up a station for it throughout the week, we'll at least have an offical tournament for it so I hope all of you get there.

if you can make it to the gamma bowl during the school year in greenbay, driving to northbrook shouldn't be much of a problem lol
though I did wonder why if you were there that you didn't enter in EX3, though it was canceled due to not enough time, but still, just wonderin

I didn't play EX3 until the weekend after Gamma Bowl lol.. I had my magical reunion then.
I still don't know wether to go with Chun/Kairi or Hokut/Kairi.
I wanna say Hokuto/Kairi cuz I love Hokuto and have playing that team since day 1 pretty much. I recently started playing Chun semi-decently.

I was watching an SFEX3 combo vid when I finally saw something that I have been wondering about for so long a time;
Can I combo a super after Vega's Scissor Kick in EX2P and EXP@?
Say I do this combo-
Jumping HK-->Cr. MP, Cr. MP, Cr.MK-->Scissor Kick
Can I follow with a super or is this possible only in EX3?
Kyōsuke

Yeah, you can do a Psycho Cannon after that...

I won't be able to make it to final round this year. Between difficulty of getting those days off (someone else decided to go on a cruise so I pretty much have to stay behind and work), and my gas line got severed somehow last night I gotta get that fixed before I can even think of affording to go. :(
and I posted in the thread if it'd be alright if I set up an SFEX3 station but I got no reply and I needed one quick in order to possibly manage something with the day off but never got one.
I'm just gonna wait it out for Acen and Evo North
