i haven't been to the bearcade at all since the regular semester ended. i played mvc2 twice since then, once on DC, once at Milipitas. My shitty magneto lost to scrub doom, NOOOOOOO, i suck now!!!

oh yeah, it's fun playing on DC. I've gotten good enough to where I can ALMOST beat Abyss's 2nd form. It's tuff, though, those bubbles are too much!!!!

as for tourneys? ick, u could try, but i dunno. cvgl's turneys have been cancelled atm, due to lack of interest. that doesn't bode well for potential ucb tourneys.

and darksideblues (doug hesia?), half the posts in this thread are a waste of webspace. you don't want to read them, your IQ will drop like a stone from the idiocy.

as far as my memory goes at cvgl $0.25 = 1 token... something like that, at least not $0.125 for a token for sure. so how does that 12.5 cents per game work? 1 token for 2 games? lol..

$1 Entry fee, winner takes all.

Format to be decided based on the number of ppl who show.

Results for June 24th MvC2 tourney at the Berkeley BEARcade are as follows:

1st Patrick Liu "mvc"
2nd Eric Wang "aznhadoken"
3rd Chris Yun "anvrin"
4th Sam Yoon "Lovely Kitsune"

Winner's finals, patrick owns chris up w/ sent/im/doom... chris's mag/cable/sent just can't hang with his 12035234908502934850238940238802 IM infinite setups

Loser's finals, wang owns chris up w/ the same shit that he always owns chris up w/... his storm/cable/cammy is old school l33t.. in the second game... it was down to the last pixels w/ both the cables... chris tries to superjump, fierce, grenade but misses 5 times in a row.. getting only normal jump, short... he get's chipped to death and dies.

FINALS:
patrick vs wang... first set.. wang owns up patrick and chris gets scared cuz wang almost has a chance of actually winning a tournament...
second set... patrick nearly ocv's wang twice w/ the same team that he lost w/ in the first set... rather interesting.

after this, we decide to have a team tourney.. just for shits and giggles.

Teams were as follows:

team "lovely re'nai" = sam yoon (sent/cable/capcom) and edmund shim (storm/sent/cammy)

team "erics" = Meantochriseric, wang (storm/cable/cammy) and meaneric, choi (storm/sent/capcom)

team "ooga booga" = danny botello (random teams b/c he didnt know the rules) and patrick liu (sent/im/doom)

team "soggy used tampon" = chris (msp) and pat, who had to go home after his first match (storm/cable/capcom)

it was team "erics" vs team "soggy used tampon" in the winner's finals and chris's msp just got owned by meaneric's storm/sent/capcom

off to loser's finals... where team "soggy used tampon" played team "ooga booga" and chris PREVAILED...

well.. at this point, the bearcade closed... so there was some debate as to who won... one side argued that team "erics" won b/c they beat team "soggy used tampon" in the winner's finals... however, the other side argued that it was "undecided" b/c it was a double elimination tournament... good thing we decided to be losers and go to cvgl, where the tournament was carried out to its end... team "erics" prevailed over team "soggy used tampons" and no more bitching was made by chris...

Team tourney results:

1st Team erics
2nd Team soggy used tampons
3rd Team ooga booga
4th Team lovely re'nai

that is all for now... had a good time... we'll most likely start having weeklies again now... w/ this one being the first.. the next will most likely be next monday... and start time is probly gonna be 5:00... so try and make it everyone.

For all who are interested, the UC Berkeley weeklies are being restarted. This Tuesday, and every Tuesday after, there will be a MvC2 and 3rd Strike Double Elimination Tournament.

Signups start at 4
Tourney Starts at 5:00 p.m. sharp
Double Elimination
$1 Entry Fee
Winner takes all
Standard Tournament rules. Winner must pick same team in Marvel, but can switch order at the vs screen.

Well, I've learned that I can't adapt well to new sticks. On top of that the sticks kinda sucked, but I guess that shit happens. I had fun though having lunch with Chris and Steven, however, thatnks for the hospitality guys. I hope that you guys can come up to Sacramento tomorrow so we can play on good sticks and what not. I don't think that I'll be going up there every week, but I will come up there once in a while; sticks are a disapointment for me and I don't like to lose for any other reason than just losing.

Sups all...Just got home from EvL...and it was a blast...I only entered CvS2 and lost my first round CvS2 to a player named FubarDuck from Texas....He fought well...I then went to loser's bracket and then defeated "DarkSyde" from the eastcoast... Kim Haun from Sunnyvale Golfland...Brian Spencer..a rematch on FubarDuck...then KSK of Japan......It was a 7 game stretch I went through before losing a super close match with Buktooth...This was a highlight of my fighting career and I shall return next year to defeat Japan...Thanks to all Those fellow Pac North players I saw there... Lar-ry, Mikey Rasphone, Buktooth, Jason Cole, Jason Nelson, Simon Luong "Naps", Peter Lam, Gordon Lee, Ken Luong, A. Wolfe, Geno, and all my Northwest division family...We all fought well...and mad props to my boy Apoc..and Cole for fighting so well in Super Turbo... Oh yeah I fought in the pre- EvL tourney at SHGL down south's 32 man tourney 1/2 japanese entry's..I beat a Japanese player 1st round then lost to the famous "Ken"..who is real good....Thats about it for now peace all and thanks for the love and support you all gave me.,..It's time to only get stronger...Peace and see ya all when I see ya..

So for those of you who haven't read the UC Davis thread, we're going to have a UCB vs UCD get together thing. It'll be like Japan vs US 5 on 5 thing.

We have a lineup of three games... MvC2, CvS2, and A3.

So we need to make teams of 5 people... here is what me and meanEric have come up with so far...

Remember, these are tentative right now.

For the unkown spaces, I'm suggesting we either run a regular double elim tourney or do round robin with everyone playing in their own time.

Note, unknown doesn't mean it can be anybody. We have a few people in mind. Keep in mind that they will only be on the team with they want to be, that goes for everyone.

For MvC2, it's hard to say because I don't know how many people would be up for doing this. There are a lot of second tier players that deserve the spots, but might not want them. So, talk amongst yourselfs.

For CvS2, we'd think LBotch, if he wants, and then the last spot is up for grabs.

For A3, who knows....

There is no 3S or ST because UCD doesn't have either of those games in their arcade, so I figure there is no point. If on that day we want to run a tournament, that's fine. But keep in mind, this is nothing that was meant to be huge. It's just something that is going on between UCD and UCB for fun.

I took Math 53 in the Fall 1999 semester and got a C. I'm old sko0l like that. I actually did pretty decent considering I got a 25% on one of the midterms.

Anyway, our top player doesn't actually go to davis... but he runs the tournaments and gives us gaming guidance... he IS ucd street fighter... Tanaka would make the tournament a hell of a lot better. That's just something to think about...

I see. I've been practicing that game a lot lately, just for fun. I couldn't get some of my combos or traps down right with Sasquatch, probably because my knees were in pain. I might be there thursday to drop off some stuff or a few days (have a poetry slam reading) I'm down to play you or anyone again, just point out to me who you are.

I hope UCB gets GGXX, I can't travel too far to the south bay just to play.
