"Good sticks/butons" are so overrated IMO. I think SF3 plays beautifully now...nothing needs to be done w/it. CvS2...yeah, I guess the jab is still broken, and that's obviously a problem that will hopefulyl be taken care of ASAP. Honestly, I think the debate between perfects 360s and other types of joysticks is pretty stupid. They're all veryvery similar if they're calibrated correctly, and require very little getting used to. As for SF3's buttons, they all feel fine to me. I'm not saying I do EX moves every time I try to, but it's not like I can completely rule out human error as the cause. I've never had a 100% rate of being able to do certain EX moves--especially during tense moments--and they do come out often enough for me to think that the buttons are working fine. As for the CvS2 sticks, I think they're great as well. They've always been much better than SF3's(until recently). I honestly don't think I'd even care if those were replacded with perfect 360s or not.

Not that I'm downplaying the donation of the sticks or anything. I forget who lent them to us, but I am very appreciative for them. At the very least, now the joysticks are finally calibrated correctly after over a year of weirdness.

i'm too lazy to post on my own account, but i'm the K groove mai/cammy/guile/sagat guy....i recently played a decent p groover, decent in the sense that he could parry a lot of shit. he'd parry my standing fierce anti air with mai, and would just constantly jump in never really sticking a lot out, more just jumping into parry and then attack. i was wondering if i could air throw from a small jump, or how if there was anyway to use air throwing as an anti air against the aforementioned player. i've seen some right off the ground air throwing, and was curious to how it's done. thanks in advance.

well, since mai's main anti air is s.fierce or jump up and roundhouse, and parry can get by that pretty easily, yea you pretty much then have to resort to air throws... i never actually tried air throwing someone from a small jump...since you said all he does is jump in parry or empty jump and attack, you might as well predict when he's gonna jump and jump with him and fierce in the air..chances are that u'll either air throw him or the early fierce will throw(not throw as in toss) his parry timing off and you'll knock him out of the air

if he's realy predictable just throw him when he lands, or do c.short as he lands

Look, you don't need to pander to me if you sounded harsh or contradictory. Quite frankly, it's my hobby to blame the controls. Maybe you're right, or maybe it's game-dependent or something because I remember doing everything exactly as I intended in guilty gear with the 360s. Anyways, it's probably just me but sometimes the buttons just don't register for one reason or another (this has happened to abel many times and he will testify, but that's what the asshole gets for jumping in and depending on my ability not to parry), and that alone is big enough for me to say it's all the buttons' fault.

haven't seen kill bill yet, don't spoil it :-P

and as for dudley's combo, it's either or. Both work, but the preference is for short x2, because a) it hits low, b)if it's blocked, you can chain the second short into c.strong, then c.fierce and be safe, and c) if it gets parried, there's a better chance that if you buffered the super, the person parrying's gonna eat that super.

Ohhhhh, no you're not. I just don't like the games you like so I always keep quiet. I'm all over the homeworld, rainbow six series and the thing. Sorry to say it, but I think the golden age of pc games is long gone. Half-Life 2 might change that, but doom 3 isn't looking too impressive.

i tried to play mag today at the arcade....and i discovered...that it's a better idea if i learn to do his infinite at home instead of at the arcade:bluu:

he tends to sing along to ANY song with lyrics in a falsetto voice...he also stands way too close to me when im trying to play. whenever he finds his new favorite song, he plays it ad nauseum...while singing along...:bluu:

Well, take the path least travelled, and complain that the sticks just aren't as precise as they used to be, and REQUEST new sticks, and mention that the third strike sticks felt better. You know, sneak your way into the idea that the 360s will be better for marvel. Talk to a guy named Patrick, or a woman named Alice (she's the older, blonde that comes in around 2ish-4ish to collect ZZ money).

Remember gents, ZZ doesn't own those machines, primetime does. Your only connection to prime time is via Alice. As for patrick, he's another worker, but, he takes care of the games, and such, so he, too, can talk to the tech guys that work for primetime. But, they'll probably pay more attention to Alice since she's a higher up.

His dash is hella fast, so when you're doing your little shuffling thing, you're preoccupied to the point of not seeing it coming. Sometimes. If the person you're playing againts keeps doing that (whether or not it's only once per match), look for it, and make him pay that he used that super out of nowhere. A couple responding brave dances will make him think twice before dashing into that combo.

heh...yeah, one day, the beatmania machine just flipped out. When I restarted it, it went through its usual diagnostics, but then there's this red text that says "COIN ERROR 52OC" or some number...so I figured the sign fit the situation hehe. We really need to get that replaced with some IIDX...

I like animals, our family has had several pets over the years including a cat that lived to be nearly twenty-one years old! Since all our animals were gone (about my junior year in high school) and we moved out to college, I haven't been able to play with any except on rare occasions, my friends always are surprised when I spend so much time with their pets.

About the six gigs, you just have to be a good housekeeper, meaning get rid of all that hardcore stuff because you probably only look at it once. As for diablo2, I admit I was addicted to it for a while, but looking back and getting angry at blizzard, I have to ask, was it really any good as a game?

I actually started playing akuma like a week and a half ago and so I don't know too much about how to defend against his shit. What I know is that he takes damage like a pussy. Ah, sorry I didn't see what the hat said. I'm blind as hell, and for some reason refuse to wear my glasses despite their overwhelming necessity in my everyday life :(. It's actually kind of inspiring being deprived of your senses most of the time.

If you have just been playing Akuma for a week then damn...your Akuma is good. It's too bad Archie doesn't play at ZZ anymore, because you could probably pick up a few tricks from him. I think his Akuma abuses all of Akuma's good CvS2 stuff. He seems to use a hell of a lot of air fireballs, and most of the time you can't do anything about it, because they shield him as he's coming in/crossing up. So, I guess I'm recommending that you try messing around with more air fireballs, because they work well when Archie abuses them.

Eliot, Akuma is definitely different in CvS2 than in 3s, but I think he's actually quite worse in CvS2. I don't think you have problems against Akuma, per se, but against hyper rushdown in CvS2 in general, because that kind of stuff never seems to happen in sf3. I can't give any advice because I can't visuallize CvS2 very well right now, and anyway, you don't want my advice you ungrateful bastard.

I did some more investigative reporting and found that it sounds much like the word "pier" who's pronunciation is 'pir. Finally, the pronunciation of tier was compared to the word "tear" which has the same pronunciation: 'tir. So there ya go--say it "tear" and not "tire". My googling and researching is top-tier! :D

Bringing up a completely different topic: I have been hit by Akuma's Raging Demon in MvC2. Note that I suck at MvC2 (although I hope to maybe get better with some more practice and play). I got hit by Raging Demon thiswise: I was cornered and playing "turtleface" (aka GTO- Great Turtler Okazuna, but the turtleface reference is to Sealab 2021); he did Ken's Shoryu-Reppa while I was blocking, then, as Ken went up the screen, he DHCed into Akuma's Raging Demon. EUGENE, I would have sent a private message but I figure it's a good idea to see if anyone else wants some.

I can make custom sticks for anyone who is willing with cash. I can bust a 360 for less than a MAS stick, and to my knowledge MAS charges 90-100 for an 8-way (someone let me know if this is incorrect :confused: ). I made a single mistake with my first prototype but it is easily fixed.

Anyone who wants me to build them a stick should pm me. I can put weights or rubber feet on it, or even plexiglass covering some artwork if you have something in mind or want me to draw it. My dad (who controls all the carpentry tools [and skill] in our family) says that if we make another stick we might as well make a bunch, so inquire away!

My best friend's brother used to be(still is? not sure. He lives in norcal so I haven't seen him/heard from him since the Summer.) a hardcore cokehead. Fool was in thousands of dollars of debt and he wasn't even old enough to drink. Half of the time he would talk your ear off about the most random shit(interlaced with random quotes from movies...Blue Streak was a favorite of his). The other half of the time he was just angry and straight-up malicious. If he gets VINDICTIVE then you can tell he hates that shit but can't stop it for his life.

Incidentally he attempted suicide a few months ago, and his parents paid off his debt as a result. I saw him the day before this quarter started and he seems like he was in good shape(albeit quite a bit heavier :)).

well i saw kavin do something like c.short, s.jab, fan super...but that's hard....

mai's c.foward sucks so you can do super from that...
i think the only other one you can do is c.fierce and maybe c.strong

and since mai doesn't seem very good at gaurd crushing...c.fierce xx super won't do you much good...

i think the tactic you been using works best...
c.shortx3 walk up and throw(if blocked) until they stop blocking..

i think the c.short x3 xx qcb, hcf+k super is easier to do than fan super...
plus you did it on me the other day on ur first try...(and got up on the chair and said "what!?"):o
but yea...you should use the qcb,hcf+kick super...it's pretty safe when blocked too....and you can JD if they attack right after the super is done...

Lol, that's "Cevant", or "Ron", whichever you prefer. He's a very cool guy...hardcore drinker/dank smoker/E roller/off and on methhead. He graduated last quarter and now works midnight-8am, so he's never around anymore.

It all depends on how far away the opponent is during the activation of the CC. If they are about sweep distance away when you hit them with the DP, you usually have to roll . Otherwise, you can get close either by using F+Fierce, hopkick, or short hurricane kick. Even if you are right next to them when you start the CC, you can only get three of any combination of the above moves before you have to do a roll to get closer. Just experiment.

i might want to learn ken for 3S...since i don't play very often, and i keep falling for everyone's mix up...i don't it's a good idea that i'm using yun, since he takes damage badly....

all i really need to start with is:
strong, fierce xx fireball xx SAIII
c.foward xx SAIII
c.shortx2 xx SAIII
Universal overhead xx SAIII(this one works right?
random SAIII after i block a move
c.short, c.jab, dash, mix up

anything else i'm missing that's important for basics?

after the SA3 after blocking, there's this cool vid that shows stuff you can counter after you block. I forgot where i got it from (karathrow.com??) but i'll list the ones they show for the hell of it since i'm bored.

no reversal needed:
alex's back+fierce, alex's EX dashing slash thingy, hugo's cr. forward, makoto's cr. fierce, oro's s. strong, urien's shoulder dash, yun's EX shoulder tackle, after some portion of yang's EX mantis slash (gotta watch to vid for that one)

reversal needed:
hugo's st. strong, ken's stand roundhouse.

also, not on the vids were you can punish any shoto sweep with no reversal, and you can low forward reversal, but that one's hard. peace!

Be careful about the crouching forward into super. You should only do that if you're absolutely sure it will connect. You can be gay like all ken players and when you're trapped in the corner just do a low forward and automatically do the super motion so that if they're caught in it when they're trying to rush you down you get a free super, because that's a worthy risk compared to taking any damage they may do to you. Otherwise, you can't just throw it out... I mean, if you do there's never a guarantee as to whether it's going to hit. The dashing low forward works sort of well, but that's not a guarantee either for someone who reacts to your dash by blocking low.

Usually you'd get that thing to work if someone's jumping in, and you dash under them and do it. Also if they do some long ass move that leaves them vulnerable you have plenty of time to stick it.

My advice is to not just throw it out unless you have no qualms with abuse and use it in the corner. Be careful since if they like universal overheads it'll go right over it.

And the universal overhead into super works if you're at the proper distance or if you time it early on their wakeup, it doesn't just connect whenever, fool.

no, not every normal, i'm not sure with ken, but people have certain normals that'll reset the people in the air and then you can hit them, but hitting someone with ken sa3 in the air is pretty useless anyways.

yea i was just wondering, in GENERAL...cuz i see curtis doing it all the time with hammy mountain....and i was wondering if i should watch out for it with against other characters (i.e ryu with shinku hadoken)

There are only three scenarios in which I can envision an air sa3 to be useful. And they all involve your opponent having little to no life.

1. In the corner, after you back throw, do SA3 immediately. You'll hit them either one or two times.

2. In the corner, if you juggle two jab dps and they're STILL not dead, just super cancel the last dp into super.

3. If you hit your opponent with jab dp, follow it up with SA3. It'll juggle.

These strategies require a good deal of knowledge on just how much damage Ken inflicts on every opponent. Oh, and don't worry about wasting super bar, at least you win the round, right? Besides, Ken builds it pretty fast. The alternative is to not do super and run the risk of your opponent coming back with little to no life and kicking your ass. Plus, you don't have to try and chip which can also be risky.

I should remind yall that Ken's backthrow deals no damage until your opponent hit ths ground, so make sure your opponent has very little or no life.

but i do however remember this FRIEND's episode, where rachel cooks some crazy dish and makes joey and ross try it...

Video was pretty neat, but it looks kind of scripted. Most of the time the opponents just crouched and blocked, except for the N-groove activate into super and counters section. Half of the characters Geese fought had a "Dragon Punch" type invicibility move that could have have stopped him. Interesting rush down though and that custom combo (opponent jump, activate, d+HP, HK...until corner, d+HP, Raging Storm) was neat.

I like the intro from the Fatal Fury movie though, that's like the best animation scene. Too bad I can't make that my avatar...

Yeah, necromancers from Diablo 2 owns all. You can max skeletons, mastery, and half of the bone spells and they still are pretty much unstoppable with Amp Damage and a Might merc.

Necro from SF3 on the other hand... :)
