You heard right. It'll be a pleasure to kick your ass on our old CvS2 machine.
All jokes aside, it'd be fun to see what the London SF scene is like. If you guys can co-ordinate I'm sure there'd be a few folks from Team BCC willing to make the drive up to London.

Why don't u guys face the champion CvsS2 team? The DT team. we beat the TOSF team in the last 5 on 5. Brampton should challenge DT!

What exactly does DT consist of nowadays? I haven't seen anyone like Kam or Luu in months. From what I understand the heavy hitters for CvS2 like Eric, Roger and Ian are considered TOSF so at least we wouldn't have to worry about them.

Thank god for once our threads aren't deleted.
Justin, we welcome you to London to have our London vs. Brampton. If you guys are interested, you can stay the weekend, I can provide housing for a few of you, and you can see the true power of London during the weekend.
I'm thinking 5 on 5 in 3S, CVS, CVS2, and MVC2. What do you say?
sauvastika

although I don't think we have five Marvel 2 players . . . or CvS 1 for that matter . . .
but I'll be happy to give Nassim a rematch in CvS 2
there is a Sigma Chi chapter at Western right?

Geese; I'll talk to Jason, Byron and Steve about making the trip (Pete already seems to be in). 5 on 5 (it'll probably be 4 on 4 to be honest with you) works just fine for me. I'll be up front in saying that Jason is the only one of Team BCC that plays MvC2 on anything even resembling a regular basis though so I'd probably rule that out. The other three games are perfectly acceptable for competition though.
I appreciate the offer for housing. We'll iron out details later on when we have a rock solid date though. London is only 2 and 1/2 hours away so the possibility of heading home isn't ruled out though I wouldn't mind hitting a bar or something after playing.

erm...just so everyone is clear on this, the CvS2 sticks are absolute garbage.
Also, I highly doubt any kind of 5v5 tourney will work as I can't really think of 5 reliable London players.
In any case, I have a pretty wacky schedule next month and won't be availabe the weekend of the 8th, or the 15th. At any other time, I'll be happy to host the Brampton players and take you guys out to the bars or what not. I pretty much already discussed this with Justin.
Again, I will host the tournament if I'm free and I'm in town, but I make NO GUARANTEES as to the turnout. London players have a really bad habit of pussying out of tournies, so don't blame me if you come from out of town and only 4 locals show up.
With that being said, I will discuss with Justin on a date that is mutually convenient.

Just to clarify, London players don't "pussy" out of anything. They don't come because they don't wanna waste their money (since they know who's gonna win), and because after our first "successful" London tournament where the Toronto ppl came, ppl have been disappointed by a lack of turnout. But, if we make this thing official, and the Brampton ppl can gaurantee taht they will come, I cant think of at least a few players that will show up: me, corry, vick, u (u are organizing if it's gonna happen, right?), taylor, john, george, etc.
As for the sticks, the sticks in CVS2 work just fine. You guys just complain too much. I purposely switched sides last night after u left and ppl were bitching about the right side not working (i remember u saying 3 buttons didn't work?). Guess what? I won twice and I left after. The controls were fine. I could do supers, tigeruppercuts, everything.
Anyway, as for teh London teams, here's what I'm thinking:
3S:
Me
Nassim
John
Vick
CVS2:
Me
Corry
Nassim
Aaron
CVS:
Me
Corry
Nassim
Aaron
MVC2:
Me
Nassim
George
Sepehr (does he still live in London?)

no it's intelligence. some of these guys are poor, and they don't care about SF that much. to them, wasting 5-10 bucks on a tournament they know they will lose is the smart choice...it has nothing to do with being a pussy.

While "pussy" may not be the appropriate term, I don't think the rationale you gave is very sound. The vast majority of players go into a tournament knowing they're not going to win. When I enter an ORBIT or METRO tournament, I know that despite whatever skills and no matter how hard I practice, I'm going to run into the roadblock that is Roger/Eric and to a lesser extent Ian/Ken. It's about winning but it's also about having fun. If you know you can't win, at least play to see how well you could do. If you're on a budget that's one thing but not entering because you can't win money is a poor reason in my opinion.

i'll sum it up nicely so u can see why most of the guys dont come:
1) they dont care about SF much
2) they are pretty poor
3) they know our attempts at local tourneys suck
But, and here's the big BUT...I can gaurantee they will come IF you guys can gaurantee you can come. It would be pretty awesome if you guys came and we did this London vs. Brampton. Anything involving SF and rivalry is cool with me.
So, what is a good time for you guys to come? Who are your top4 players who would compete in this tournament? I say we do this shit in mid November weekend...how does that sound?

Ok, half the people you named don't play anymore. Taylor and John are not going to show up. And who the hell is Vick? Is that the Chun-Li scrub?
The only London players besides you and me that seem genuinely interested in a tournament are Corry and Will. Everyone else is unreliable. Don't give me your fucking bullshit that "oh, 28 ppl AT LEAST are gonna show! London Rules!!11111one"
And yes, the CvS2 controls are shit. If I can't do Iori's b&b and get hit by random supers from across the screen, the stick doesn't work. The medium kick sticks for crying out loud. It's totally unacceptable for tournament play.
So again, for the Brampton players, you've been warned. Don't believe Geese's "guarantees". Be prepared for the eventuality that 4 locals will show up, and that the sticks will be absolute shit.

As I said before, joysticks were fine. I played on left side after u left, I won twice, and left. Ask George he witnessed it. Same with Columbia. The joystick worked and I proved it. I dunno what u guys were bitching about. But ALL the buttons worked. I could do uppercut motions, supers, QCF's, everything!
As for hating on London, dont be so damn pessimistic. Try to be positive, and this tournament will work out. It's kinda retarded how u feel the need to call every London player a scrub, or saying our tournament's will be shit, or blah blah blah. If ur gonna help, dont act like this. If u truly think were so pathetic, then dont be a part of this tournament, its SIMPLE. U hate me or us or whatever, dont fucking participate.
As for the players, Vick is the brown guy who uses Ken. I'll tell him about SRK...in fact i think he has an account already here. I'll tell him to start posting. That Chun Li "scrub" (such an arrogant and retarded SF term) can also join for our practice sessions. Thats one of the reasons communities dont grow...because the top players make fun of others when in fact they were once just like them.
Justin, as I said, I can house u guys if u come, and it'll be fun to play u guys a lot during the weekend. I can GAURANTEE that we will have 4 ppl for each game for our little showdown.

Figure I'd better address a few things:
What is it with people bickering within their own team/town? Team BCC gets along really well (OK Pete thinks Byron is a pedophile but whatever) and try to help each other rather than cut each other off at the knees. Anyway...
Odds are that we'll be coming up for the weekend of November 22 - 23. I think that allows for Nassim to cover all of his meetings/conventions. There's no possible way I can make 14 - 15 and I have friends coming up from Florida that weekend and my time will be spent with them.
Concerning the sticks. I suggest you drop an email to games@nwsgames.com That addy will get you in touch with Jay Janda at NWS Games Head Office (they're the distributor for the cabinets you have in your arcade). Lay out the EXACT problems people are having with your cabinets and your suggestions for repairing them. Make sure you note that they've done diagnostic tests before and despite the tests coming out OK, you know that there are problems. Jay is a very helpful guy and did wonders for BCC including fixing our machines, helping us get Event Mode for tournaments and acquiring cabinets (such as 3rd Strike). Make sure to let him know I referred you and that your trying to strengthen your SF community and draw in more players (it's all about money in the end).
Make a note; the big reason Team BCC would be coming up is to have fun. It'll be great to play SF with the London guys but we also realize Western a mad fun University and we can just have a great time on top of playing games. No need to fight.

oh ok, I know who Vick is. He was at T4, but he didn't enter any tournaments.
As for my pessimism, I'm simply being realistic. All the London tournies have been shitty in the past. I have no reason at all to believe that this one will be any different.

Ok Justin is totally right. I think we should just get along or at least TRY to act nice to everyone to strengthen our community. As for our current lack of players at Wizards, it's because nobody is coming. I'm almost positive that if ppl started going on certain practice nights, lot more ppl would come.
Justin, if Brampton is coming and this thing is for real, what are the chances that you can persuade some Toronto ppl to come with u guys?

I don't know if it's about "practice nights" so much as it is having a group that enjoy beating the shit out of each other. That's exactly how Team BCC was formed in the first place. We enjoyed playing each other (or destroying scrubs on the way to playing each other) so much that we all ended up buddies. Of course it helps to have deep pockets to play on such a regular basis but you see my point though. We didn't set dates or anything like that. We just enjoyed the competition and kept getting better by playing.
I have no control over how Sauga or Toronto operates. I know that I'm the driver for Team BCC and we're all basically willing to travel wherever as along as it fits our schedules. I was contemplating talking to Sauga Crew but they're all underrage and woudln't be able to hit any bars or night spots after playing so I ruled it out. Toronto is an extra hour onto a 2 and 1/2 hour trip so I didn't ask them either.

It's pretty much a lock for the 22nd -23rd barring anything catastrophic happening.
Entry fee and all that other stuff you can figure out among yourselves. IIRC, you said your players are a little low on discretionary income so you may not want to set it too high. Jason, Byron and I all work full time jobs and Peter's OK for money (I'd loan him entry fee if he was really desperate anyway) so that's not an issue for us.
I hope you guys practice hard. This won't be much fun if we steamroll you.

OMG. Will goes crying to you? Nassim, maybe you should actually ask Corry what went down since he was with him at the time?
I started off by telling him he's not going to be on the CVS2 team because there are other people that are better than him.
Then he starts crying and acting like a little baby. He keeps telling me that "You always make fun of me"...and CHILDISH GARBAGE like that. I tried talking to him nicely at first, but if he insists on acting like a baby, that's not my problem.
Point is, it's 4 on 4, and I don't care how hurt his feelings are, he's not on the team when there are other better people then him. This isn't Brampton 4 on 4 - Charity Case. This is a serious challenge, and London's top players are going participate.
The teams as of now are:
CVS: Mihai, Nassim, Aaron, Corry
CVS2: Mihai, Nassim, Corry, Joe
3S: Mihai, Nassim, Vic, George
MVC2: Mihai, Nassim, George, Yoko (is that how u spell it?)
Why don't you actually try to be reasonable and see that this are the realistically best teams for this tournament.
EDIT: Plz plz plz don't tell me all this shit how I'm not running shit and you're running this and that. This only pisses me off, and TRUST ME you don't wanna see me explode one of these days. I will take u AND will down. No that's not a threat, because as long as nobody pisses me off it's fine, but this kinda shit GETS ME REAL close to exploding. I asked u nicely for us to get along nicely. Now you're forming an alliance with Will like this is Survivor, and you think i will give a FUCK? I will run this god damn show if you want, and you will realize this when u and Will are at home playing the CPU. You wanna do that? Fine, you think tourneys take more then a few braincells to run? Anyway, I've tried being nice but GARBAGE like this is just almost intolerable.
Will STOP UR FUCKIGN CRYING. You're NOT top4. Ask you buddy Corry to be hoenst with u. He will tell u ur not even close to top4. Ur not top 4 in ANY game in Wizards.
The end.

Times like these I'm happy Team BCC only consists of five people. :lame:
Anyway, have we nailed down if this is a team tournament or a 4 on 4? There is a difference and I'd like to establish it ASAP.
Also; I don't recall ever agreeing to MvC2 challenge. Jason is the only one that plays that game on anything resembling a serious level. Pete plays it just to see how much damage he can do with terrible characters, I SUCK at it and I don't think Byron has ever paid 50 cents to play it in his life.

This is a London vs. Brampton tournament. 4 on 4 in (i guess as of now) CVS/CVS2/3S. This is to see who's better between Brampton and London. This is NOT a singles tournament. And yes, my name in English is Michael, aka Mike. But call me Mihai (pronounced Me-Hi) because that is my name.

Yeah I figured it was Mike. My buddy goes by the same name but only his family calls him Mihai. Are you Romanian? I never did figure out where that name originates from.
4 on 4 basically means a Matrix format correct? Like how the 5 on 5 tournaments were done for A3 and 3S at EVO2K2?

we tried having a 4 on 4 for marvel and it ended up being 8-8 (since there's 16 matches)...so what are you gonna do if it gets tied?

Yes I'm Romanian. And I'm not sure how EVO was, but here's what i think it will be like.
ABCD vs. EFGH
A plays E.
If A loses, then:
B plays E.
If E loses, then:
B plays F...
etc.
It's super simple. I'm thinking because the tournament is not gonna take long, we do the individual games like best 3/5 or something.
So for example, if the above example is the CVS2 game, then we have like 5 games liek this, and the Team with the most games wins.

hey just a question y do u have to do things different than any other person that makes tourneys. I know Brampton has 5 good players that would be willing to play. why dont u have 5. I know u can get 5 willing london players. or do u enjoy cutting people for personal pleasure.

The end.
oh, that's rich. I don't have an issue with Will not being on the team, it's true he isn't top 4. What I do have a problem with is you telling him he can't participate and being a total asshole to him. How's he going to get better unless he plays against good players?
Another thing I have a problem with is you suddenly appointing yourself "Fearless Leader" of all of London. I sure as hell don't approve of you speaking on my behalf, and I'm pretty sure everyone else feels the same way.
and don't even try to threaten me, buddy. I don't get intimidated very easily, especially not by 140-pound computer geeks that live with their parents.
One issue we need to resolve is the format of this tournament. Personally, I'd rather just have a singles tourney for CvS2 and 3S, but I want everyone to be happy. I don't like seeing players getting cut off from playing because they're "not good enough". To me, tourneys are about having fun and meeting new people, not about people playing elitist drama queen.
Also, tourneys for CvS1 and MvC2 are a waste of time since no one plays those games.
Nagata, I'd like to see some feedback from you and the other Brampton players as to what format you'd prefer. Since you guys are coming from out of town, I'll do my best to accomodate.
Also, I'd like to add that CvS2 has *really* bad sticks/buttons, and 3S is a little flaky.

There are generally 2 types of team format
one is what u listed, elimination format
but usually between 2 cities they would have a round robin format where everyone play everyone on the other team at least once.
its not that hard.

Hey ok, AneurysmX pointed out Round Robin. Do you think that is a good idea or would the other method I described be better?
About the tourneys, I know Aaron and I really want a CVS tournament, and I know Corry loves that game hehe. Also, Nagata plays CVS too... I heard a while back that him and Dennis had a Kim battle or something like that.
About the best players playing, how exactly do you see this happening? I never wanted to kick players out just to make em upset. Obviously, anyone would realize I dun really care who plays, because it doesn't really affect me. But I do care about winning if we want this to be something real, and something that truly represents London's best ability.
PS. I'm 180, not 140. Slight difference.

ok, I'll tell you what, I'll compromise to try to make everyone happy. This is what's going to happen (assuming they do come).
CvS2 Singles Tourney
3S Singles Tourney
CvS1 Singles Tourney (ONLY if we get at least 6 people)
After singles tourney, we'll have an elimination style (not round robin, takes too long) team tourney for both CvS2 and 3S. London teams will be based on rankings in the singles tourney. Number of players on the team will be based on how many people come from Brampton.
So if say 3 people come from Brampton, the top 3 London finishers in the singles tourney will be the London team. In case of a tie, the people tied can decide amongst themselves, but I would suggest playing out a tiebreaker match.
This is the best solution I can think of, and I think everyone can be happy with that.

Sounds good. But this brings up a whole new issue. Since there will be singles tourneys, maybe some Toronto/Sauga people would like to come. Yeah, it's not likely they will come, but I think when we post the thread, we should make it seem open to anybody, not just Brampton ppl.

that was the general idea I had from the beginning. I always wanted it to be open to everyone. I don't think anyone else from Toronto will want to come though, as I've brought it up several times.

No problem. Good thinking above. Is that the same place Justin recommended we call to fix our sticks?
Btw, you like the idea of having practice nights Thursday and Fridays? When I was talking to Corry, that's what he recommended, and from previous experience, I think those are the busiest nights at Wiz. Also, the Friday before the tournament is going to be our practice night, correct?
Oh yeah, I almost forgot. I am also going to try to get some or all of our regulars on SRK (and some others whose names I do not know) to start posting here to keep up to date with what's going on. I'll get you their e-mail addresses too. I'm probably (hopefully if I have some will power left after studying) going to be at Wiz today at around 6.
Btw, have you seen a white guy (dark hair, used to hang out with the DDR ppl) that uses A groove Rolento? He seems like he goes on SRK because he knows how to do the customs. I see lots of potential in him. Talk to him when you get the chance, and introduce yourself. He seems like he would become hardcore like us. As I said, I will try to get everyone's names and e-mails, and lead them to this thread. But I'm just saying watchout for this guy, he is pretty good considering I hardly ever saw him play before. Also, there is another guy who plays MVC2 with Cammy/Cable/Psylocke who is not bad at all. He can do Killer Bee combos with Cammy consistently, and while this doesn't show me he's good or anything, it shows that he has potential with better characters. I played him once, and I beat him pretty easily, but still I think he could be a contender.
To sum the previous paragraph up, watch out for new guys, and tell em about the tourney if u see em. I can already tell that the "new" Wiz is attracting more and more decent to pretty good ppl. They just need some exposure to high level tactics and some good competition, and they could become good also.

Nassim said as soon as the Brampton ppl can gaurantee 100% that they are coming. Of course, nobody knows 100%, but when I talked to Justin earlier, he said unless something catastrophic happens, they are definetly coming.

Speaking of catastrophic. WE'RE NOT COMING!
Anyway, Pete may not be able to make it on the 22 - 23 as we discussed. He's got a major paper due on the 24th, which may keep him from joining up. However, the rest of us will be able to make it (again, unless something catastrophic comes up) and we're bringing Steve from Shoppers World for some added 3rd Strike firepower.
So yeah, we're a lock.

I already told Pete to do his paper early. It's easier said than done though. I know he'll do whatever he can to make it but I can't hold it against him if he doesn't show. He is one of our best (actually our best... period) players and would be missed.
Odds are we'd be staying overnight. Nassim and I already agreed that we'd go "boozing" (as he put it) after the games are done so I don't think I'll be driving back to Brampton afterwards. We can figure out accomodations afterwards. I'm not sure if eveyrone from Team BCC will go drinking so some may split to play more games and others will go out to party.
