Montreal Winter Thread

It's cold but alot of cool things happening in december. K-1 finals, M.A.T. hype, Lord of the Rings and oh yeah christmas.

Dec 23rd will be the 3 year anniversary of Montreal's first official A3 tournament. Dave Spence came from philly to own us with his A-Dhalsim and the rest is history. In 2001 we improved drastically.. doing well in many tournaments throughout canada and the US. 2002 was our first major tourney win at ECC7. 2003 showed that ontario has caught up with us in CVS2 while we kept strong in 3S and A3.

2004 will start off with M.A.T. and hopefully we'll stay in practice for some potentials wins in ECC9. If anyone is interested in going to any other tourneys outside of montreal (I don't check the tournaments & events that often) let me know and maybe we can arrange a trip. We use to travel alot and I miss those good times.

Now that Daniels & JM closed down I get the feeling that MTLSF will die, I hope that's not the case!

I want to go to ECC this year, after going to T4 and experiencing that I'll definitely make it to ECC :cool:

MTLSF will not die at all, it will be simply focused more on the mira players.

I'm noticing though that the 3S machine isn't played as much as before at mira. A3 is getting more play than 3S right now. Maybe that will change now that pino is closed.

All the Pino players went to 2000+, so that arcade is going to always have people. Just today I went at around 1PM and there were people on CvS2/3S...

event thought i don't play games alot or take it seriously as before...BUT WHo dunno MAo..???? how many player was my student before becoming good player themself??

Is there anyone of any importance in The Grand Prix this year? The last K-1 show was pretty terrible and now that Cro Cop has finally had his mystique broken and Sapp is wearing thin, I worry about that company drawing well. If this thing with Mike Tyson doesn't pan out they're in trouble.

Dear guys in MTL,

I know this is going to be off topic kinda, but down in Halifax we are making a plea to the Owners of ORBIT to give us a location in town for 2k4...and we would like some help getting our voice across. I have left a post on there own Board ( http://www.estarburst.com/cgi-bin/forums/ikonboard.cgi you need to sign up , it give an error but still you can read it at least then post a few hours later, werid I know) and have been in touch with them off and on over the fall season and it in senior managments hands last I knew...I figure if i can get enough local interest and other people ( who Im asking the exactly the same thing ) who think its a great idea who would visit/travel be come regulars to post a reply there...I would love to get a tourny scene here going, have maybe a eastern championship..have you crazy people like Tem etc visit here..I know ratio1/roger has family here and would enjoy getting some tips and comp here....and get people involved..I;ve have 1 tekken 4 thing here the winner/champ of the day plays crosshanded hey I was shocked..we had 40 people for 1 machine back in apr/may and I was able to get that in T&T mag just for kicks ( thanks again DreamTR) for regular gaming dates I think we can have that daily turnout because most players are older :)

Anyway here is my cry to the central part of canada, please post there and help us out. I'm welcome to field question about where this is going to be about the area and would love to hear you comments in general.

Hey seb, you should calm the fuck down when you play arcades.

I bet you 5$ that you couldn't beat my dan.. and yes I admit you were missing all your shit, but its not the controls, it's you.. the controls are fine, when you play against those scrubs you never complain about the controls but 3 minutes later you play against me and all of the sudden nothing works ??

Most of the damage I was giving you was from air grabs, did you jump by mistake ? no.. and what were you missing ? activate into red fireball and instead you were doing the roll.. that can happen on the best controls, it's not like it was an anti-air so you didn't have me at all. And here's a hint : it doesn't help to swear and scream like crazy and bang on the buttons like a madman..

You defeated yourself with your bad temper, I don't understand players like you.. calm the fuck down it's only a game.

If anyone else wants to challenge my dan for 5$ let me know..

after doing the jd uppercut thingy, me, lars alex, rene and phoun headed to 2000
I took cote-des neiges, and while going there, phoun tells me to change the music or something, and I do, when suddnly this black women appears out of nowhere in front of my car, and I hit her, but she ( Thank god) only lost her balance, and was pretty nice to me afterwards.

then we finally got downtown, searched for parking for 30 or more minutes, alex was sleeping during the whole time, and finally found a spot.

We get to 2000, and I had my PUNISHER t-shirt on, which so fit the mood, ocvs here and there, and beating phoun really by luck.


Then when the rest left to go either home or netzone, I started a winning streak, 42 to be exact. granted it isn't 103 like Alex, but whatever. Then I call Alex after I finished the game and nobody played me, cause I had completely forgotten where I parked my car, and he asks for a lift back , and that was the night

all in all, it was pretty boring, but I just wanted to share this day with u guys.

ps. the flyers are now out, and their pretty nice, though I wonder if people from 2000 would really go to the tourney.
