I joined CvS2 and lost horribly. Let us never speak of it again.

The guy who was running casual before the tournament in MvC2 was Bryan "Jiggabry" Simard from Sauga Crew. He had a 25 game win streak before Eric beat him.

Ok heres what happened. I never said the brackets were rigged. I called my friend from the tourney just to tell him whats going on. I said "Since Roger lost to Ian, the brackets are kinda fucked up now" I never said they were rigged or shit like that. People were just taking it the wrong way I guess. Good tournament though. I felt the sticks were fine, except the CvS2 buttons are a bit further apart then what I was used to. My Log is in the sauga thread if anyone cares to read.

Okay I’m back from Montreal and let me say this, I’m never going to another Montreal tournament again. I think a lot of the Toronto guys will say the same thing. Not only has the city turned into a piece of shit compared to three years ago, but the arcade scene is dying fast. They’ve got two real arcades, and only one of those is halfway decent. Turnout is fucking low. Consider this. At MAT there was 20 people for CvS2, 10 people for Marvel and 15 for 3rd Strike. Now consider that 6 of the CvS2 players were Toronto, 4 of the Marvel players were Toronto, and 6 of the 3rd Strike players were Toronto and that means that for MAT, the Montreal players totaled 14 for CvS2, 6 for Marvel, and 9 for 3rd Strike. What a waste. Alex said this was bigger than all other DM tournies too.

Let me cover off the Street Fighter shit before I get to the real jokes. Friday night we started at 2000 Arcade. Waste of time. Left in 20 minutes. Later we head to Mira where Jay, Jon, Carlos, Antoine and I share games. We racked up some good win streaks with Ryu, Urien, Dudley, Ken, Necro, Sean, whoever. The 3S version is updated so mid-screen unblockables don’t work. Only kneedrop in the corner still works. For my part, I didn’t miss a thing on Friday. Short short super every time no prob. Back+MK into super. I was playing well.

Saturday, totally different story. I might as well have never touched the game. Aside from a good first match against a Remy/Ken player and a few good rounds against Veasna’s Chun, that’s where my shit ended. I lost to Veasna then had to play Matt, who, no offence to Matt, should have been a fucking cakewalk -- no pun intended. Matt’s no scrub, but fuck, if I can beat Marvin’s Ken and Adam’s Ryu on a given day, I should mop the fucking floor with Matt. That said, I didn’t. I had one or two rounds where I actually played smart. The rest I did stupid shit -- guessed parries, jumped all over the place. Anyways, not taking anything away from Matt. He beat me fair and square. I wasn’t too pissed about losing though. Winner had to face Ian, and winner of that had to face Jay. Ian was playing like shit, but I knew I wouldn’t get past Jay. Besides, Jay had the best chance of beating Veasna and Alex. At least, that’s what Jon thought anyway. :)

Okay, 5-on-5 time. By this point it was coming up on 10:00 p.m. We hadn’t eaten dinner, I had a headache and was yawning every two minutes. I knew at that point I wasn’t going to do well but I was hoping to pull out one or two wins and that’s it. I figured I could likely get them off of Tony, JD or the Urien guy no problem. Oh yeah, and I was bored of Ken and wanted to play as Makoto. My bad guys, my bad. Antoine and Jon told me to stay with Ken but no, I had to switch. So yeah, I lost one, but when it’s my turn again, the score is 12 to whatever. All I have to do is win one to win it for Toronto. Didn’t happen. I had crossup into MK into EX kicks from Tony’s Ibuki a hundred times, lost to Alex and then to Veasna.

Then came JD. This was it. Whoever wins takes it for their city. I tried to buckle down here and ended up taking it to the fifth round (it was best of 5 rounds) but in the end I couldn’t pull out the win. I couldn’t tech to save my life, I missed the stand strong link into super (JD blocked the super), I missed low MK into super link about 5 times. Peace out. I’m not disappointed in myself because I know I play better on any other day, but I am sorry for the rest of the guys, especially Jay and Antoine who made it a point to beast on Alex and Veasna and pretty much anyone else with Dudley. You guys fucked shit up and you deserved the 5-on-5 win.

So yeah, it was over and we left right after.

Now onto the jokes of the trip. Here are the highlights:

Baiting out Stephen on the drive: Stephen followed us to MTL in his car and for the first hour, I’d pass a car and then pull into the right lane. Stephen would do the same and every time he’d switch lanes to the right, I’d immediately go back to the left lane. He stopped falling for it after a while, but when we got to MTL and were nearing our highway exit I knew he’d follow me closely so I baited him out one more time for fun, haha.

Baiting out Stephen in the arcade: At one point Jon, Antoine and I are around a racing game Stephen’s playing GGXX on his own. So I pretend like we’re all talking and then just yell out “Stephen!” “Stephen over hear!” He looked every time of course.

Getting owned by the elevator multiple times: It never took us to our floor, and the one time Jon and I went to look for vending machines it took us to the 12th floor, and we got baited out and ended up coming back to the same floor even though we hit 11.

Getting owned by the vending machines: Okay, so on our floor they won’t take my toonie, on another floor it won’t take it again but I find a toonie, on another floor it eats Jon’s toonie, and yet another floor Jon’s toonie gets stuck.

Random laughing in the elevator: Jon and I are going down in the elevator just talking normally when two white girls in their 20s get in. We stop talking and then Jon just starts snickering a bit. I try to stop from laughing too but I laugh a bit. One of the girls notices so I nod at her to say hello. All of a sudden Jon just cracks and starts killing himself and of course I can’t keep a straight face so I start laughing a bit too. At the lobby the girls walk out of the elevator and Jon and I just start howling as the doors shut.

Acting retarded on the street: It’s cold in MTL, damn cold. So when we left the hotel to go get food, Jon has got his hoodie over his hat, and then a big black coat zipped up with the hood over that and his hands inside the arms of his jackets, and the strings of the hood drawn so that you barely see his face. He looks the way a retard would if his mother dressed him. Every time someone’s about to walk by Jon starts laughing and acting all stupid with the craziest retard walk. Anyways, I thought it was fucking hilarious so after dinner I did the same thing with my coat and hoodie and the walk. Jon and I had a retard race with all these people looking at us like we’re totally fucked. Afterwards we almost died laughing.

That’s gay (TG): I like Carlos. He plays well, he’s not cheap (in terms of spending money), and he’s a nice guy that never starts shit. The whole trip he said like three words. He’s a very quiet guy. So Saturday we go for dinner after the tourney. Jay is throwing out ideas about doing team tournies at Orbit and Antoine puts out an idea of his own about characters or something. The table goes silent for a second. Then Carlos looks at Antoine and out of nowhere goes “That’s gay.” Fucking funniest thing I heard all weekend.

Random shit:
- The random black guy and Chinese girl who were together at the restaurant on Friday and came to the back of the restaurant one at a time to pretend to look at pictures on the wall even though they were checking out our table for some reason.
- Jon getting owned by a pork chop.
- Antoine getting owned by a jumping Chun Li.
- Antoine humping the bed (no joke).
- Antoine humping Jon (no joke).
- Antoine’s underwear in the bathroom.
- Carlos stripping down to his underwear within a minute of walking into the hotel room every time, I swear.
- Mesatsu Gouhadoo.
- Couche-tard
- Making up random acronyms for absolutely everything. DKIG.
- Jon forfeiting to Jay twice in 3S so Jay can lose.
- Yelling “Who is this guy?” whenever anyone does a combo.
- Montreal has a bun problem.

I’m sure I missed some funny shit in there, but someone else can cover it. Thanks to the MTL crew for hosting us and doing your best to put on a good tourney, especially Alex, Tony, and Prez who are cool as shit, and a few of the 3rd Strike regulars there who I never got to learn their names.

Thanks also to all the guys who came. You guys are the reason why I can go to MTL, play like absolute shit and still say I had an awesome time. Let’s see what’s up with a Chicago thing or something in the summer if there’s a tourney.

the city -
so its 7ish.. we decide to go to 2000 amusement...
get into a cab, and the meter starts at 2.75.. by the time we got inside and told him where we wanted to go.. it was already at 3.05.. finally found 2000.. and the little trip costs umm.. 6+ lol..
inside, 2k is FUCKEN LOUD.. lots of smoke, and no girls.. -_-

Wendy's in Cornwall? Did it have a really odd layout like all the seats are on one side and then it's separated by a big wall and you order on the other side? I had passed one coming back from Montreal a couple years back and I swear I got the same "that guys not white" look from everyone in there.

Leaving Toronto:

wake up really early to pick up Dennis and meet up with Will. When I reach Dennis' house and starts packing his shit up, his dad pops out having a smoke, sporting in these fucked up boots. I think Dennis' dad used to own a tofu shop and drove an AE86. Or maybe hes just a fucking bun.

On the way to MTL

While on the road, Will decideds to gun it going 140+ km leaving me to catch up. When I did, he switched lanes and so did I....as soon as i did he switched back...baitout, fuck you Will.

Our 1st stop, we go to this Mcdonalds place and decide to rename Dennis to Kim and start yelling it out like "hurry up kim", "hey Kim!!!". Will even got some bitch to react to the name.

Jon decides to ride in my car. Now I don't know if you guys have driven with jon, but make sure you have NO CDS and NO RADIO. Motherfucker finds a song he knows and starts blurting out random quotes from the song and busts out these dances....and he doesn't stop man. I wish I could have choked him but that would mean i would get 5-10 for 1 minute of pleasure. Oh yeah Jon nudges me at on time in the car and directs me to Dennis' sleeping. The boy yells on the top of his lungs in Dennis' face and the gook doesn't wake up. Holy fuck.

Hmm yeah while following Will my winshield wipers decide to fail on me, as did my wiper fluid. so, going 130km I make jon hold the wheel while a take a cloth and try to wipe the winshield. To make a long story short, we almost swerved into the ditch,which could have killed me, jon and still sleeping dennis. thanks jon....chinky eyed bastard

Now we stop at this wendy's see, and its like fucking good god look at them fucking hicks. Not a colour in sight. We saw a little jedi and jon wanted to be his father or something. Oh yeah carlos really looks like a ninja. fat boy in his bargain harolds jacket was jokes blah blah..

Oh yeah I almost forgot the cop. So I'm doing 130, same with the ppl in front and back of me. Will is up 3-4 cars up ahead trying to go faster. All of u sudden, a fucking squad car is behind me with the lights all flashing and shit. Me and jon are like "oh shit oh shit oh shit" and i pull to the right side. Luckily, the pig didn't want us, he kept going. Now its Wills turn. Hes on the right and pulls to the left and starts gunning it, only to be behind the squad car. Wills like "im fucking gone man." "he got me" and pulls to the right again. Again, the pig just sped off, leaving everyone on the fucking road shook for a few miles. What I want to know is where are they when Roger is going fucking 160km the whole trip????

In Mtl

So now we're going in mtl and I don't know wtf is going on so I follow Will like really closely. Will knows this and decides to abuse me one more time with the lane change bait out. I drove up and gave him the finger. Asshole.

Ok now we reach the hotel and still no sign of Lars so we chill with Will's crew for the day. Will almost lost his car to some retarded bus boy who parks his car on a hill in 1st gear without the handbrake. God bless mtl.

so we reach 2000, shithole. played some ggxx with dennis and jon. Then we started played some of that wordster game. I scorded a word using all the letters allowed and Will gets up saying "OOh my God a litterate ******". He quickly stops cheering when he realizes theres another, bigger, black guy behind him.

So after 2000 we hit Dots diner to get some food. The waiter sees us comming a mile away...seriously we were fucking loud. So he takes us to the bumfuck seats way in the back, were we can be as loud as we want, without disturbing the real customers. Ill just point out some fucked up shit:

--our waiter, a pale faced girl with a decent ass comes up to us and asks us for our order. As soon as Will opens his mouth, she walks away...ok
--Everyone gets a handy steak knife and i get a butter knife...why is that?
--this black guy and a chinese guy keeps scoping us out...why is that
--Antoine making bras out of napkins then quickly crushing it and tossing it away when the waiter comes back...too good.
--16 motherfucking BBQ wings with mayo on top...now thats food.

Hitting Mira:
--main part of the cade is the same size as Will's holiday inn room..
--we meet jd, finally.
--I go play some GGxX with aznboi and some random peeps on those retard sticks...It was still fun tho.
-played some marvel, got a few streaks with tron based teams.

--roger came, forgot what else happened..i think we went home.

Tourny Highlights

--placing 4th in ggxx, just like every other ggxx tourny ive entered. Ok thats cool.
--Will yelling my name and turning his head. I TURNED ONCE AND KEPT STARING. I don't fall for all the baitouts bitch.
--jon rocking sam in mvc2. once jon takes out cyc, jon wins that match hands down.
--jon getting rocked by alex. good lord.
--Will stealing Dennis' cell phone while he was sleeping. What a putz.

JD's House

trip home
--did it in 4 hrs..not bad
--We pull in to get gas and i leave roger behind. Less than half and hour later, roger speeds past me...going 160km
--eh its was borin so thats all.

overall it was a fun trip. I got to see some sick ggxx play and got Dennis to take a liking to it to (running uppercuts own js). I guess thats it...

I have to admit that you're technically better than us in mvc2, we have never taken this game to the next level, but Alex proved once again that mind games are what counts the most.

I finally had my revenge on DarkDragon, cause the last time he came, he shot me 9857 times, it left a bad taste in my mouth :)

Will screaming "c'est qui cet homme" randomly was by far the most memorable & funniest moment :lol:

oh btw Will, sorry about the low tournout, we tried to convince everybody to show up, we have a lot of average/semi-advanced players in every game that play almost everyday, but they all chicken out in the end, there is nothing we could do about it :(

Take the TTC subway southbound from Bloor/Yonge, and get off at Dundas station. Walk north. It's across from Sam Record and Futureshop. Easy to spot. The arcade itself is hard to see, it's directly across the street from those two stores. I'm sure you'll find it.

Directions:

Take the subway to Finch station. From there, take the Steeles bus east to Kennedy. Get off, and go into Pacific Mall on the northeast corner of the intersection. The arcade is on the upper level, impossible to miss.

Take the Steeles bus east from Finch station. It's two lights after Victoria Park. It's one light before Warden, but the distance is walkable if you miss it. A few requests. One, no sandbagging. That's why we were hoping to play Toronto in a tourney in the first place. OCV me or double perfect me if you can, don't fuck around just because we're no-names. Two, JJ told us to get some games in with Roger. Three, we need to know some good places to party.

No disrespect to other tourney organizors and tournaments in the GTA, but the T tournaments were alot more work then any of the other tournaments, including Summer's End and other ones. The T tourneys required lots of work beforehand to meet with arcade owners, and submiting proposals to get what is needed for a T tourney (working machines and a on-site tech). There is also the matter of promotion (websites, posters, whatever) and answering all the emails/private messages about the tournament. After T4, I think that was it for me. It's alot of work and I don't get anything out of it. Actually I got sick from all the running around on T4 weekend and missed a couple days of work. I dunno, without Will or I involved, it just doesn't seem like a T tournament anymore. Might be better off with a fresh start. If you guys still want T5, I don't mind helping a little and giving what little advice I have, but I'm not quarterbacking it.

There are lots of people in TOSF that are capable of pulling off a large T scale tournament. Anyone that wants a large tourney in the summer to happen should say so and you guys get together and get the ball rolling by April.

i guess SAII is good for like stun but i mean it can only be used after a knock up otherwise you can really use it, cuz it cant be used as a wake up, cant be used any other time, SAIII just has more diversity, i.e, use it in almost any of uriens combos, use it after a throw for wake up unblockables, or use it for pinning the player back.

my last sentence i was trying to say that SAIII can be performed and you dont have to be worried about being countered. unlike the other supers like SAI and SAII theres animation after the super if blocked or whatever that the opponent can attack you leaving you open.

and know im not a urien master so theres no need to be sarcastic in anyway im merely trying to help this dude to understand that SAIII is used for good reasons, SAII is not very good when you match it against SAIII.

You can cancel any of the tackles into it, and why would you just do the super and let them jump over it? If they jump in, you can do a tackle XX SAII, so that even if they parry the tackle the super comes out, and if they parry that you can do jumping attacks anyway.
