My big scheme was to eventually have all the Ontario SF communities contribute and have like bi, tri or maybe quarter annual tournaments with pots that range in the 1000$ range. The main reason for this is to attract serious competition from the US...something that most (if not all) Canadian tournaments have failed to achieve thus far.

What do you think?
Logistically this will never fly:

A) It was evident when we came up the first time that almost none of the London players have an excess of discretionary income. Asking them to contribute $5 which they probably don't have (not an insult, just an observation) to a tournament that isn't 3rd Strike (there's no way they'll add to a pot for CvS2 or MvC2 after watching Roger & Eric play CvS2 along with Eric & Bryan play MvC2) isn't being realistic.

B) Ace Arcade was massive but where in the world would you hold a console tournament? I can tell you right now I wouldn't feel comfortable bringing in my Dreamcast, games and controllers into a place that you all told us was basically a drug house all the time. Also, who's contributing the TV's for this console tournament?

C) Assuming players are contributing to the pot, they won't be willing to cough up additional money for an entry fee. I assumed these were different because the entry fee is supposed to be the pot rather than something separately that's contributed to. It's basically a double charge for the same tourney and again, a lof players don't have that kind of discretionary income.

D) London is 2 and 1/2 hours away. Team BCC came up last time because we'd never been there and we were told it'd be big (which it wasn't). Team STC came up basically for the same reasons. This time around there's no arcade and we know there won't be a big turnout (Eric was burned the first time he went, then we all came up and got burned a second time with all the players that didn't come because they didn't want to lose).

While your idea is admirable Mihai, it's not realistic. The logistics are too heavy to overcome for the kind of idea you're proposing. If you're able to work through some of them (double dipping and the location are definitely non negotiable changes that need to be made) then it's something to be given some serious thought down the line.

Ace is not a drughouse at all. It's just an abandoned warehouse. :lol: But I'm just telling you what I'm proposing to do. The TVs and systems can and most likely will be provided by us. I have no worries about bringing my stuff into Ace Arcade because the guys and girls that work there are good people. The place is not a shithole. It's actually a very nice place now compared to what it was. It's just that Wizards killed it slowly over the years. Now that Wizards is gone...well hopefully Ace will shape up (or die).

I'm going to remain positive throughout this endevour. As I said, I think this is the only way to attract a lot of people. Money is the root of all evil...including SF. :)

As for a lack of enthusiasm on your guys' part...well as I said...money solves that issue (hopefully). Even though London may not be everyone's cup of tea, if I can get a 200$+ pot on top of the entry fees, I think some people will be tempted to come. :evil:

As for the poverty of London people. Well, that's not quite what I meant. Some of them are more like...mnnn...cheap? :lol: But seriously, I know for SURE that 3 are willing to contribute at least the amount I mentioned. I'm asking your guys' to help with this if you can because I know the Toronto people don't exactly like me, which is cool with me. With a little from each person, the pot becomes big, and look what happened when Michigan had the tourney with just 500$ added to the pot. John Choi came down.

Anyway, I understand if you guys don't want to participate in this. But I'm going to do it anyway. I've started working on the site already. I really hope you guys agree to work on this together. It's a little from everyone that makes something big. I don't mean to sound cheesy, but it is true.

EDIT: I just noticed your comment of our hesitance to add to the CVS2/MVC2 pot. That is not even an issue. I for one fear no one. Neither do the rest of our players. We have no reason to fear anything. :eek:

Today was a lot of fun and frustrating as well...

Highlight Of The Day: 5th at Woodbine Tournament

Low Point Of The Day: Sticks robbing me of Winners Finals.

Line Of The Day: "Byron are you even listening to me?" "No" (I coach Byron for like five minutes and ask him the above after wondering why he wasn't following any instructions).

So I figured this would be fun little tournament with maybe 12 players for CvS2 and 3S respectively. I was hoping more Sauga Crew would want to come but Teddy is pretty much grounded so he'll pass Calculus and Matt had to work too long so they were written off. Calvin said he'd come with Alex but it didn't surprise me to not see them. I get Bryan and Gerjay (is Bryan ever on time?) from Pizza Pizza because I was supposed to head up to Guelph after the tournament and it was pretty much on my way. Things wouldn't turn out quite so well.

The car ride was fun was Brian can't decide on anything to listen to on my mix CD. We start talking about Woodbine Racetrack and why Bryan would never be able to get in. Wack shit about me betting on his behalf goes nowhere and we start talking about Bryan's theory on why Matt isn't cool because every cool Matt is called by their last name but you can't go around call him "Machula" all the time.

So we reach Woodbine and Roger is owning up the Woodbine scrubs pretty badly. I played all of one game where Roger took Morrigan/Ryo/Sagat(2) and I took Yuri/Terry/Vega(2). Roger would smoke one character and then give the game to someone (first Kin with Morrigan and then Ryo to Marvin) only to have me demolish each of them and Roger would have to take the game back. It came down to the wire and I missed Claw Super and ate C.HP xx Super Fireball.

The tournament finally gets underway after the last of the really late people make a decision as to whether they want to join or not and when it's all said and done we have TWENTY THREE ENTRANTS! WOW!

3rd Strike

Vs Leslie (1st Round): I had no idea what I was in for. I didn't care about 3S mainly because Gerjay paid my entry fee instead of paying gas money. Leslie took Dudley and smoked me pretty bad. His playing style wasn't so advanced, I just made a lot of really stupid mistakes and forgot to you know... PARRY!

Vs Random Guy With A Hat (1st Round - Losers Bracket): I have no idea who this guy was but he pulled the mega upset beating Jay one game in the first round (got that beauty on tape) when Jay was trying to make him look like an ass parrying everything and got punked. Anyway, that must have been a fluke because I shredded him pretty easy with runaway Akuma and took two straight.

Vs Butch (2nd Round - Losers Bracket): What an awesome name. I mean come on... BUTCH! I could be mistaken but I think he used Ken. Anyway, he busted me up pretty badly as all the good stuff I did last game leaked out of my brain and I played like an idiot again. So much for 3S.

Capcom vs SNK 2

Vs Tyrell (2nd Round): I got a first round bye as we had an odd number of players and the top 10 or so moved forward right off the bat. I hadn't played Tyrell in just under a year; the last time being The Kaos Tournament where he beat me in Round Robin and cost me a 3 way tie with Peter and Steve. Anyway, I've made some... changes since last March so this was relatively easy stuff. I hit a ton of the Sonic Boom Air Throw Trap and used C.U.R.T. to clean up both games.

Vs Jay (3rd Round): I don't think I've ever faced Jay in a tournament before. I was pretty shaken up because he's a parrying machine and I may have all of 3 wins on him if that (one was METRO last week though, so that helped the confidence a bit). Both matches were INSAAAAANE! The first match came down to no health for me and a bit for Jay and I managed to squeak out the moon kick bait out Super for the victory. The second game was again down to no health from each of us and I was fortunate to hit The Triple Kick just as he Blanka Balled for the victory. Wow, there's a heart attack I would like to have avoided.

Vs Gerjay (4th Round): This was the series that FUCKING PISSED ME OFF! FUCK! The 1p Side had been acting up all day where it couldn't go down + left. Roger figures that the buttons and stick weren't aligned properly so it actually works but you have to block a certain way. Whatever, all I know is it fucked me over. I ate move after move after move as I couldn't block for my life. Gerjay smoked me the first game and I switch sides. Now the roles are reversed and Gerjay gets punked off with no blocking. Absolutely ridiculous and of course I take the second match. Third match we're right back to me getting fucked over and boy did I curse up a storm and created my new phrase of "OH MY FUCK!" Gerjay takes me down and it's off to losers.

Vs Dennis (6th Round - Losers Bracket): I was really hoping to avoid this match considering how shit the stick was. We flip a coin for use of 2P side and I lose. Anyway, Dennis beat the shit out of me both games (even after I switched sides) especilly the second game where I was anticipating everything and hitting nothing (that's what paranoia does to you).

I go from possibly getting 2nd place to finishing 5th. Respectable but a little on the disappointing side.

Highlights:

Finally finding out who The Cate is. :lame:

"Who's Magnus?" "I am. Hey, who's Nagata" "I am." :o

Initial D faggot who plays with actual racing gloves. :wtf:

Marvin getting Chinese Translations from random numbers. :lol:

John & Anthony making every match seem like the greatest ever. :D

Everyone trying to win The GBA:SP from the scam Numbers Machine. :mad:

Woodbine Scrub challenges Marvin to $100 game of 3S and Marvin refuses out of pity for the guy :eek:

Team Rent-A-Ho. :cool:

Security kicks out everyone that isn't a tournament player. :cool:

GG's to everyone today. It was a lot of fun and I hope we can do it again sometime in the near future (after the sticks are fixed). :)

Funny day today, considering I had quite possibly the easiest bracket ever to winner's finals with the exception of scams against Justin. Just about everything worked out right for me today.

Faisal beat out Dennis in their random matches.

Justin beat out Jay.

And all I had to do was beat them, Steve and [insert name of random scrub] to get me to winners finals. After that things weren't too pretty.

Me and Roger seemed to have a good game of let's see who can RC with Honda/Guile the most, and I think I'm getting the hang of it. Anyways, failed miserably.

As for my matches against Marvin, those were DIRTY. I really don't understand how to play against a good P-groove player, it has to be the weirdest groove to play against. Nothing I did was safe. Everybody was telling me, DO NOT do anything after you tech hit. Of course, after the tech hit I do a c.mk and eat low parry lvl 3 super... every single time. It's terrible. He set me up for low parries and said thank you after each one. Feels pretty bad.

Highlight Of The Day: 2nd Place in CvS2

Low Point Of The Day: The mess after everyone left.

Line Of The Day: "You know Teddy, if you grew your hair long you'd look exactly like Calvin's girlfriend." (Jay punking out Teddy at 2:00am just before leaving).

Yesterday was pretty much go go go for me. The party in Waterloo was great and we got to bed around 4:30am but the problem is some of the guys that passed out around midnight got up around 7:30am and were ready to party. I was woken up to some ugly jackass in my face saying "hey man... you want some of my bowl?" "Your bowl... YOUR BOWL!? IT'S SEVEN FUCKING THIRTY! NO I DON'T WANT ANY OF YOUR BOWL!" So I start my day running on three hours of sleep as the house wakes up, 1/2 the people smoke up because they apparently can't start the day without a "bowl of cereal." We all watch Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back (which is apparently far better high) and get breakfast. Back to Brampton we go as I drop everyone off and clean the house up.

Bry, James and Jordan come by but I was in the washroom so they got punked and left. I get a message from Teddy saying they're at "the brown plaza" and I sadly know exactly where they are. I'm told the three of them arguing over chips is both hilarious and stupid all at once but I sadly missed out. They're the first to arrive and we play CvS2 and MvC2. James finally beat me in CvS2 ending my win streak of like 987654321 in a row but I was using P Groove and a team I barely touch so I don't know if it's a true loss.

Team Brampton show up and we split up as 1/2 play Alpha 3 (Tyrell is a MONSTER with Guy) and the other 1/2 play MvC2.

The rest of Team Sauga arrive and bring with them the 2nd TV (thanks Gerjay, I really appreciate you lugging that thing with you). Teddy and Jordan faced off in a "Race to Five," which from what I understand meant that if Teddy won he'd get free dinner but if Jordan won, Teddy would pay him $10 (do I have that straight?). Teddy wins 5 - 2 and I heard the matches were solid so I wish I taped them (I sadly taped nothing yesterday, just wan't in the mood for it I guess). I think Matt won another "Race to Five" but did he get a prize out of it?

Team TOSF get here around 7:00pm or so and we can get the ball rolling. It should be noted that Super Turbo never really got off the ground as it was too much of a pain in the ass trying to get people to use a PS Controller (one USB had a DC Adapter and another a PS adapter but we had no PS stick) and interest just dropped off. I did win my first round match against Danny 2 - 0 though (good old Sonic Boom Tick Trap).

MARVEL VS CAPCOM 2

Vs Jamie (1st Round): Does Jaime even play this game? Hell, do I even play this game? Jaime was initially just going to forfeight but Bryan uses peer pressure for like fifteen minutes to draw him in. I take the usual Team JS and Jaime used I think Ruby Heart/Iceman/Dr. Doom. Anyway, Jaime doesn't play this game so I actually got to use my shitty Rush Down Storm and took the set with relative ease.

Vs Ken (2nd Round): I'm perfectly happy with how this set ended up. I managed to hold my own against Ken to the point where I brought him to time out both matches. That may not sound like much but I expected Ken to beat me from pillar to post and win in like 15 seconds both matches. If my AHVB was better I may have had a chance to win the second match as I had to characters caught in the first AHVB and I had three meters but couldn't follow up.

Vs Jason (3rd Round - Losers Bracket): The last words Jason said were "No messing around this time" and he wasn't kidding. His Magneto destroyed me the first match with an OCV. The second match I took his Magnus out but it cost me too much to do it so by the time I started waring down his Iron Man we were running out of time. Again my shitty execution cost me a win as I had his Iron Man caught in AHVB and couldn't follow up. Ah well...

CAPCOM VS SNK 2

Vs Jay (2nd Round): Top twelve players got a buy. I booked myself against Jay because our set at Woodbine a couple weeks back was nail biting and I was hoping this would be the same. Sadly it was not. I moved my guys around to counter him (mainly making sure to counter Gief with Vega and Blanka with Kim) and took the risk my Guile could take his Vega. Well as I always say, "you can't parry throws" and that was basically my offense as I know Jay would smoke me if I tried attacking so I picked my spots and threw him at every chance I could get. It worked out nicely and I took two straight.

Vs Jason (3rd Round): Jason and I are getting to the point we know each others moves three and four moves ahead. It's getting ridiculous. I noticed Jason altered the order of his team for some reason so I countered with Kim first against Blanka instead of Guile first (which would have got me destroyed). Anyway, it's the usual back and forth match that comes down to the wire between his Cammy and my Vega. I lucked out on an air throw in the corner and chipped to death on Rolling Crystal Flash for the win. Second match his Blanka murders both Kim and Guile and then it's The Vega Show as I come back but can't deal with Cammy. Third match Jason took the early lead and had about 1/2 Sagat and Full Cammy against R2 Vega. His Sagat did damage but I took it out. The Cammy match Jason just fell apart. He did a lot of stuff he never does and forgot his pressure game. Anyway I took the Cammy vs Vega match easily (no offense Jay, but you know that last match was quick) and keep going.

Vs Roger (4th Round): I was actually looking forward to his instead of the usual dread. I think Roger took A Groove but it wasn't his top team (I remember Blanka being in there though). We had a great match the first one that went really close but I lost by a bit. Second match was more typical of our series as I got beat up pretty badly. I always enjoy playing Roger. I know I'm going to lose or win by some miracle with no health but I learn so much playing him. I hope to get better and come even someday down the road.

Vs Bye (6th Round): It was about 2:00am by this point and Ken forfeighted the match to me after defeating Matt. Personally I think I could have taken Ken down as I watched his playing all night and it wasn't anything I hadn't seen before. I of course was dreading the idea of facing Matt again in a tournament as I never beat him. Lucky for me I didn't have to deal with it.

Vs Danny (7th Round): This was basically for a shot at Roger in Grand Finals because Dennis had already left and Losers Finals were now empty. Danny and I agree to play 3 of 5 and off we go. He uses K Athena/Ryo/Bison which I have now named "Team Fuck Gravity" as all those characters don't play by the usual physics of the game (Athena is faster than most, Ryu is slower than most, Bison got odd hang time on jumps). I've got to say, Danny's Athena is FUCKING SICK! I've never seen Athena played that well. She locked my Guile down so badly I didn't know what to do. I'm going to learn Ryo after watching Roger/Danny/Jaime use him because they showed so much awesome stuff off today I'd have to be stupid not to learn him. None of my air throw traps work on Ryo because of the slow jump and it fucked me up. In any case, we play three matches and all three were nutty back and forth fights and I had to re-adapt my tactics to fight a completely new style. The only trump card I had was Vega, which I know Danny has serious trouble dealing with and that was the character that won me the set in three games.

Vs Roger (Grand Finals): I forfeigt the set. It was like 2:30am by this point and neither of us really wanted to go through with it. I knew I wasn't going to take him and it would have been a waste of time. I know it's anti climatic but come on... IT'S TWO THIRTY IN THE MORNING!

Bryan's mom comes to get him, James and Jordan (first to come, last to leave, nice set up) and my day finally comes to an end. BUT WAIT! THERE'S THE CLEAN UP! YEAH! I got to sleep around 4:00am.

Highlights:

- Tyrell beats Gerjay in MvC2. :eek:

- I FUCKING HATE THE CATE! I don't hate Jaime as he's a great guy, I hate hearing the words "The Cate" like three million times last night. The joke is not only dead, someone dug it up, kicked it in the cock, and then buried it again. :mad:

- Stephen's Morrigan is DIIIIIIRTYYYYYY! :evil:

- Tyrell's A3 Guy makes me realize how shit I am against a good A3 player. :(

- Got to watch some crazy ST and A3 battles. :sweat:

- Tyrell FUCKING DESTROYS Teddy in their first match with R1 Sagat. :eek:

- Mad props to Jordan for coming 4th and putting doubters on notice. :cool:

- Awesome battles in original Darkstalkers. I haven't played that in like eight years. :)

- Tyrell beats Dennis Kim in MvC2. :eek:

- Watching Bryan practically beg Stephen to stay so he can cleanly win MvC2. :o

I had a great time and I hope you all enjoyed yourselves. GG's to everyone and I hope to see you all at this coming METRO tournament and the next Lock Down sometime in the spring or early summer.

Low Point Of The Day: Dropping my first match to XXL.

Line Of The Day: "Hey little girls, where's that *** Matt? It's about time I put my dick in his mouth." (Barry is the funniest guy in the world)

As per usual, I got no sleep before the tournament. I can't beleive it's been just under two years (The massive VF Tourney in March of 2002 was my first tournament) and I still don't sleep right before tournaments. Weird... Anyway it takes forever to find Shin Akuma brackets (had to call Gerjay in the end) and off we go.

I hit METRO at 11:15am and IT'S NOT OPEN! The sign says they open at 11:00am and there are people waiting outside but no one unlocks. We all noticed they've moved things around but it sadly does nothing for making space in that arcade. Roger shows up around 11:30am and still no one is there. 11:45am rolls around and Sauga Crew show up but IT'S STILL NOT OPEN! MOTHERFUCK! So FINALLY some punk shows up at noon (ONE FUCKING HOUR LATE! SOOOOO PISSED!) and we get in.

I got in like 1/2 a game of casual as Roger gives me a 1/2 health Guile and I take the time to pound Gerjay into the dirt. HAHA! I do sign ups and start the tournament with Roger vs Kevin but Eric interrupts and tells me that Nguyen Luu and three DT players are coming. Then Marvin shows up and FUCK I have to re-make the brackets. Team Brampton elect for lunch and I'm down with that figuring I'll make brackets while eating with them. Then I end up eating with Ken, Herny, Darrin and Matt. What the hell? Anyway lunch was funny. Darrin is too good to talk to and I need to talk to him more. Finally we get back and the tournament starts at 2:30pm (one of these days a tournament will start on time. I think Woodbine came the closest).

SUPER STREET FIGHTER II TURBO

Vs Jon (1st Round): I can't believe Kevin didn't give me a bye. Whatever, this match may as well have been a bye. The Woodbine guys came for CvS2 ASAIK and then balked at the idea and joined ST instead saying "yeah we play ST all the time at home." O... K. So I take Guile and he takes Ryu. I pretty much weather the storm of fireballs, work my way in and pound him with the Sonic Boom Tick Throw Trap. I think he was trying to do Hurricane Kick counter but either the stick didn't co-operate or his execution is total shit. Either way I beat him 2 - 0.

Vs Roger (2nd Round): This was an exact repeat of our match at METRO a couple of months ago. He took Sim and I took Guile and then he uses Slide Tick Throw Trap and I take big damage for a quick loss. Second match I take Ryu and it's a bit more balanced but he still beats me with essentially the same move.

Vs Gerjay (3rd Round - Losers Bracket): Gerjay elects to use the Dhalism that I think Spence left over. I use Vega forgetting that Sim counters is used right. Gerjay did not use him right. I basically beat him down with Claw Dives. Second match he uses Honda and I FUCKING HATE HONDA! HATE HIM! Gerjay pounds me with headbutts and Hundred Hand Slaps for a really fast win. Then I take Guile and we split the first two rounds and he smokes me the third one. It's like M2 all over again except I get 7th instead of 3rd. BOOOOOO!

CAPCOM VS SNK 2

Vs XXL (2nd Round): I don't think I've ever played XXL before (what's his real name anyway?). I do know that he's a combo machine though and now I got to eat all of it. The first game was pretty balanced until it came down to my R2 Kim and then I used C.U.R.T. System to beat him. Second match he took a good lead and I tried to use C.U.R.T. again but Eric's coaching him and I can't get in. Third match should have been a slaughter as my Vega does all the work and takes two guys out. His R2 Sagat makes the mega comeback though and beats my full Guile and I waste R2 Vega on stupidness eating Roll Super (Scrub Tactics 202) and lose to Roll Throw (Scrub Tactics 101).

Vs Dogberry (2nd Round - Losers Bracket): Marvin taped this match and basically insults me a whole bunch (it's all in good fun... I guess). Kevin and I always have solid back and forth matches and the first one basically went that way. He manages to beat me by a hair after the time ran down. I hit Air Super with Kim and actually had a chance to win it but I missed c.lkx2 - Triple Kick (the kick didn't come out and I ate c.hp) and that's the first match. The second and third matches weren't much to talk about. Kevin had horrible problems with Vega as I took out 1 and 3/4 guys both matches. Guile got destroyed by Ken in the second match but Kim did clean up. Third match Guile redeems himself and Kevin doesn't see Kim. Good matches.

Vs Dennis (3rd Round - Losers Bracket): Now this was a match I was NOT looking forward to. I saw the brackets earlier and basically hoped Dennis would beat Marvin because unlike everyone else, I actually know how to fight P Groove players (it should be noted I only learned after fighting Marvin a few times and losing horribly though). Sadly Marvin smoked Dennis and now I had to deal with someone that I've never beaten in a tournament before. Anyway, I just watched this match for the first time a few seconds ago so it's fresh. All three matches came down to the last guy for each team so I won't bother with the other stuff. The first match Dennis beats me after I eat Roll Super (Scrub Tactics 202) and couldn't come back in time. The second match I use C.U.R.T. and win with a good block of health left. Third match was essentially the same as I turtle like crazy and pick away at his Blanka with Flip Kick and C.U.R.T. (whoever doubts that Kim doesn't counter Blanka should stop doubting). I nearly blow it in the dying seconds but Dennis gets desperate and throws random Super and I finish with my own for the victory.

Vs Ken (4th Round - Losers Bracket): There really isn't much to say about this set. Ken dominated me in the first match as none of the tricks I usually get to pull off worked on him. Second match was a lot of the same except this time my Vega was able to take out both his full R1 Chun Li and his R2 Sagat with quite a bit of health left (good old Vega, nothing beats that). Third match was balanced for a while and then his Chun Li ran me over and his Cammy cleaned up. Ah well...

I taped lots of stuff after my loss including Eric vs Ian, Eric vs Ken, Ian vs Roger (both winners and Grand) and Ian vs Marvin along with the Winners, Losers and Grand finals of 3rd Strike so I'll let everyone know when they're ripped.

Highlights:

- Where was Mike Watson? Wasn't he coming? :lame:

- Spence's CvS2 Dhalism is FUCKING SICK! :eek:

- Longest... 3S... Finals... ever. :bluu:

- "Kevin eventually hopes to have sex... with a girl... he didn't pay for." :lol:

- "You're not nice to me." "And?" "I'm going to buy this place and ban you" "by then I'll have grown out of games" "I'm buying it tomorrow" "NOOOOOO!" (Kin doesn't appreciate the way I speak to him sometimes) :D

- Spence, Bill, Kevin and Jason spent more money on ST in one day then it probably got in the last month.. :p

- What happened to the MvC2 Tournament? :confused:

- Darrin vs Chris was easily the best set of matches on the day. :cool:

- Matt is the WORST Camera Guy I have ever seen. Never again. :bluu:

- Last but not least a big thanks to HERNY for running CvS2 when I wasn't available. He did a great job. :)

It looks like I'll be having Nagata Lock Down II sometime in mid April when my parents go on vacation for a week. Just figured I would let everyone know. I'll post a solid date when details are more clear.

It doesn't look like Team Brampton is coming to the METRO tournament this weekend as Jay and Byron are both hitting The Auto Show and I haven't heard from Steve as yet.

I'm contemplating just going to UN now but I'm not quite sure as this'll be the only tourney for a while that Roger isn't entered and I've got a good chance of placing higher with the seeds being mixed up.

I bought a PS2 off Ebay yesterday. I need to get away from that site. I had no need for a PS2. I just saw an auction ending in one minute and said "sure I'll bid" and won. At least it was cheap ($125 + S&H). Anyway; can anyone recommend any games outside of the usual fighting game stuff?

Highlight Of The Day: Nine game win streak in CvS2, SC2 & T4 at UN

Low Point Of The Day: Dismal 7th place in CvS2 Tournament

Line Of The Day: "That guy is Asian." (It's one of those things you just had to be there but leave it to say Gerjay is one of the funniest people I know)

This was the first time in God knows how long that I actually got sleep before a tournament. I knew this wasn't starting early so I said fuck it to setting any kind of alarm and slept until around 11:00am and got myself down to Sauga to get Matt, Gerjay, James and Bryan. Surprise, surprise, James and Bryan were NOT ON TIME (getting there early and smoking weed behind Pizza Pizza where no one can tell where you are isn't considered on time)! We head over to Matt's house and he's got one of the most elaborate lies ever constructed to get out of work (I'd bring it up here but I figure Matt should lay it out in case I forget something). The car ride was too funny as James is trying to play Zelda: A Link To The Past while Matt and Bryan are yelling at him about what to do.

"You don't have a fairY? Oh you suck James."

"Why don't you have four bottles yet? Oh you suck James"

"What are you saying? You don't have the fisherman's net? That's like the first thing you get. Oh you suck James"

This goes on for the entire car ride, except for when they're all talking about Ocarina Of Time and some huge sword that breaks in no time.

So we reach METRO and pull a HUGE scam as we all see a woman that looks like she wants to reverse into a parking spot. Now the SUV coming out elects to turn the same way the woman is parking so we literally scam the spot right out from under her. Hell she probably didn't see us enter the spot until it was too late. And oh man was she ever PISSED OFF! She was yelling for a while and refused to leave the area. I had to go back to the spot (or a place close to it) and wait for her to leave in case she keyed my car (which I probably would have deserved though I took her license plate just in case).

There's already a fair sized crowd in METRO when we get there. Eric is running shit for a while and I get to meet Paul and Mahir from Edmonton. I'm truly disappointed Paul didn't want to join CvS2 and it looks like Mahir felt the same way with his "why come across Canada just to watch?" but hey that's his choice i guess. Eric manages to outright piss me off by leaving despite the fact he's the one that organized this tournament and wanted people to show. He's lucky he's retiring or I'd organize a boycott of the next tournament he attended. Anyway, we get lunch and Bryan is scared of whatever is in his soup.

"Hey Curt, what's in this soup?"

"Why don't you stir it and find out"

"OH SHIT! WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT?"

"HAHAHAHAHA!"

I get the usual safe Chicken Wings and we eat and wonder who Matt's new boyfriend is (what a brutal haircut). So we head back and get the ball rolling.

STREET FIGHTER III: 3RD STRIKE

How I got lured into this tournament I'll never know. I'M TERRIBLE AT THIS GAME! Will and Jay are like "Nagata, three bucks" and I've got no clue what they're talking about. Apparently someone told them I was joining. Bah... three dollars isn't breaking me though my pride will surely take a massive shot.

Vs Burton (1st Round): Will and Jay tell me "he's some no name guy, you may have a good chance." JERKS! He uses Ken SAIII and I use Akuma SAI. To top off everything else, the Fierce button doesn't work. Now here's the kicker though. I've never been able to execute well at METRO 3S for some reason so I kept thinking that my rotations just weren't coming out right in the first match. So I take a pounding 1/2 because I suck but the other because I'm pressing a button that doesn't work. Second match is a lot more balanced but I still lose.

Vs DarkDragon (1st Round - Losers Bracket): Will comes to me and says "do you have any problem playing Stephen?" I'm a little wary of this proposal because Stephen doesn't play 3S but I thought the same of CvS2 and then he busted people up at my Console Tournament. Anyway, this was pretty quick as I use Runaway Akuma the first game and Rush Down Akuma the second game and it was over. I don't take much pride in it because Stephen plays 3S less than I do.

Vs Pocari Sweat (2nd Round - Losers Bracket): It's been quite a while since I last played Steve as I used to come across him in Skybox when he first moved to Sauga. Anyway, he takes Yang SAII and shreds me in the first game. Second game I actually made something respectable out of it as I took the first round and then blew a massive lead in the second round. Third round he realized toying with me was dumb and smoked me quick. So much for 3S...

CAPCOM VS SNK 2

Vs Mahir (2nd Round): This is the match I came for. Mahir is generally considered the best CvS2 player Edmonton has to offer and I was sure I could take him out. I was a little scared because I split a game with Eric earlier in the day and Mahir destroyed my Vega with his Chun Li. Anyway, all three matches were very tight. The first one we went back and forth and then I introduced him to C.U.R.T. and of course no one knows what the fuck is happening the first time they encounter the system so he fell apart and I take it. Second game was CRAAAAAAZY as we wittled each other down to nothing and in a moment that could have gone either way, he threw me after the tech throw before I could throw him. Third match was far less balanced as his Bison dismantled me horribly. Kind of an anti clamactic ending when the first two games were so great.

Vs Gerjay (3rd Round - Losers Bracket): Here we go again. It's getting really annoying facing Jason over and over. My curse on him was lifted back at Skybox over Christmas and I haven't take a series since that point. The first game was one of those things where I had a mental breakdown because he'd CC and I'd Alpha Counter but the move he was using at the time woulc miss the hit and I'd still eat CC. It was so frustrating I started getting desperate and made dumb mistakes for a loss. The second game went pretty much as I figured it should as it was still close but I know my characters match up well with Gerjay so I only needed to punish mistakes and I got the second match. Third match we were even until Vega vs Blanka and then Gerjay totally locked himself down and I coudln't get in. The sad part is I had two chances to take a huge lead when he went for Medium Blanka Ball and I could have smoked him with Claw Super but didn't do it. After that he realized the mistake and wouldn't budge. Ah well... good set.

Amazingly, everyone stayed after their losses to watch the INSAAAAAANE Grand Finals between Mahir and Marvin. Those matches (at least the first set) should go down as some of the greatest stuff a lot of people have seen in a GTA Tournament. Total back and forth battle that had a lot of the crowd going nuts as more than one point. I'll definitely be putting the matches on GTASF when I get a chance later this week as everyone should get a chance to see them.

HIGHLIGHTS:

It was great meeting Mahir and Paul. Both were really nice guys. :)

Awesome match with Eric's crazy Rushdown K Groove that I nearly won. :sweat:

Team Sauga gets scammed out of Marvel AGAIN! :bluu:

Is my camera so heavy that no one can hold it longer than five minutes? :confused:

Kevin doesn't know how to run Round Robin. :mad:

Tomb raider is terible

Don't waste your money on mega man x7, you can beat it in a day.

Devil May cry 2 is a huge disapointment, your better off renting it.

some games you may think about buying:

GTA gift pack- Gta 3, and vice city for the price of 1 game!
Dark cloud 1 and 2- A mix of RPG and sim city
Disgeae- a great Strat rpg
SSX 3- possibly the best snowboard game ever made

Just be careful with the games you buy. There are far to many games out there that can be beaten in a few hours making them better to rent than buy. Xenosaga is, in my opinion, the best game out for PS2, it's an rpg though, and keep in mind that it's a six game story, so if you play episode 1, your in for the long haul.

Edit: The two games doggy recomended (that are out) are both great.

Byron and I played CvS2 from 5:00pm - 10:30pm. My thumb hurt SOOOOOO BADLY (I had to use pad as I only have the one stick). Anyway, I'm once again best in Brampton having beat Byron in a best of 3 set race to five taking two straight (5 - 2, 5 - 2). So we call up Jason and go over there but first...

First off this girl walks in and she had THE FUCKING BIGGEST ASS IN THE HISTORY OF ASS! This girl doesn't just belong in a Sir Mix A Lot video, she is the fucking video. Never have I seen an ass like that. I could see if she was like 300lbs or something but this was was only a bit on the chunky side but with a MAMMOTH ASS! To paraphrase an old basketball expression, "you can not stop the ass, you can only hope to contain it." The worst part is it was being held together by a tight pair of jeans. The means at some point those jeans are coming off and THAT ASS HAS EVEN MORE POWER! AAAAHHHH!

and I have the divx codec, but it still won't play, I don't know what the hell ITA means, I think thats whats messing it up

I played a 4 of 7 with g3nn and it was pretty fun.

1st match:

I used IM/Cable/Sent I believe. I won one then lost one.

next I used Rowtron... won one then lost one.

Then I used scrub since I thought g3nn said he was good against it... and won 2 in a row. ggs though.

Anyways, CvS2 was fun. Iori owned most people up who didn't expect me to know what I was doing. . . You guys forget he used to be my main character back when I used N-groove :p Either that or you guys didn't know me much then. Chun cleaned up anything that should have been deaded. . . Also, ST was weird. First match I chose to go with honda, figuring it would give me more wins than my Dhalsim would. But my first match was against Jason's Ryu. It was close, but in the last round I fell for a pile of uppercuts out of my slaps. The rest went pretty nicely. The hightlight of ST tourney would be ochioing Kevin out of his whiff xx super before he could get the super out... winning me the match.

Highlight Of The Night: Pizza Pizza Dance Club (will explain later).

Low Point Of The Night: My two longest streaks ended by Barry of all people.

Line Of The Night: "I could have had sex with this huge girl. I mean she was so huge. Man was she sexy." (Shumayel with a random story. I was literally reduced to tears laughing).

Team Brampton was nowhere to be found today except for Steve. I grab him from Tim Hortons and it's off to Sauga to get some of the guys. I totally fuck up trying to find Shu's house getting off at Mavis (where I'd get off to find Matt) rather than Winston Churchill. The upside of course is that Steve and I see this pack of brown guys trying to be thugs jaywalking. I tell him the story about why brown guys should never go to dance clubs after I nearly decked one guy who was slam dancing (remember this is a dance club) and hit my then girlfriend. Of course they also bumped into the group of Ginos and it turned into a big fight and I got to laugh at all of it. Anyway, Gerjay is right on time at Teddy's. We pick up Shu and we're off.

Shu and I have the great conversation about what you need to prepare yourself for after you break in a virgin. I give him the briefing about mental baggage and give a little advice: "Never fuck a virgin, it's a lot easier for some other poor bastard to live with all her mental shit when you can have the regular fuck with no hassles." Words to live by. This of course leads into Shu talking about this white girl and the line of the day came into play. We laughed for at least two or three minutes straight and Shu had no clue as to what was so funny. God I'm surprised I didn't crash the car I laughed so hard.

Barry gives Bryan some money and I'm forced to wonder what the fuck is up with that shit after all the talk about fucking each other in the ass on IRC (if you frequent TOSF, you know what I'm talking about).

I automatically break my first rule of UN (play stuff that you suck at so that it's worth your money) by playing CvS2. I go on a six game streak and then lose... to Barry. MOTHERFUCKING TURTLE BULLSHIT BARRY! FUCK! Fine, that's no problem. I hit up some GGXX (Chipp is coming along nicely) and then head back over to CvS2. Barry is still winning and I end the streak (as it should be). So I go on another streak for eight games and then lose... to Barry! MOTHERFUCKING TURTLE BULLSHIT BARRY! R4 HONDA MY FUCKING ASS! GOD DAMN IT! I pretty much rant and rave to anyone that will listen (or anyone within earshot). Stephen laughs at me and I'm forced to wonder if Stephen ever actually laughs out loud because I've never seen it.

Anyway, Bryan and I team up for a MvC2 Tournament. We came first place using the amazing combination of my blowing games and Bryan saving the day. We were supposed to face Stephen & Barry but they both left before the finals. CHICKENS! APEX THAT SHIT!

CvS2 Team Tournament never got off the ground.

MvC2 Singles Tournament didn't finish.

Steve, Gerjay and I combine forces and go on the biggest streak of the night in CvS2 with ten games before I lose to the random guy that nobody knows about but almost always wins.

HAHA! Nathan got his ass kicked at Waterloo.

We all wrap up and the car ride home is great as I pass along words of wisdom to Gerjay before he goes off to University including "for every guy you meet, make sure to meet at least three girls becuase one girl is always a bitch and you have to have at least two girl friends for every guy." Words to live by. I also explain why dorm room doors are meant to be left open unless it's totally necessary to shut it but I don't think that quite sunk in.

GERJAY IS GOING TO ENGLAND FOR FUCKING BAND! WHAT THE FUCK?

And now the best part of the night. We drop off Shu and then punk him by going to get food despite me saying "no, we're not going to get food." We hit Pizza Pizza and then we see it. Two black guys DANCING IN THE MIDDLE OF PIZZA PIZZA! I mean they were literally doing The Robot while listening to the eighties pop music on the PA System. OH MY GOD! That was the funniest shit I have seen in weeks. It's not like they were doing it until someone (like us) walked in. They were standing in front of the giant mirror on the side wall of Pizza Pizza dancing for like ten minutes. The best part? THEY DIDN'T EVEN EAT ANYTHING! THEY WERE JUST DANCING FOR NO REASON! HAHAHAHA!

I tell Steve & Gerjay about the craziest Burger King you'll ever find in Hamilton but that's a store for another time.

Insane battles between Steve and some crazy FOB in KOF2K2. :sweat:

There was some CRAAAAAAZY shit:

- Steve gets ROBBED in Match #3 against Ed as he throws out Joe's Lvl3 Super and Ed's Sagat literally stands inside the edge of it and then throws Lvl3 Fireball Super for the win.

- Jason's Ken vs Steve's Ryu was great back and forth stuff with Steve just managing to pull off the victory.

- Ed manages to blow a massive lead against me and loses to Vega Sexification.

- Byron vs Jason was a SICK matchup with some killer combos including Byron's sick j.hk - c.mk xx God Press xx Super Genocide Cutter.

- I mistimed Claw Super by about 1/4 second on Byron coming down with Rugal's Electric Slide in the final seconds of our final match to determine the winner.

I'll post the better matches from the evening on GTASF sometime next week.

Today was pretty fun...

Highlight Of The Day: 3rd Place in CvS2

Low Point Of The Day: Getting smoked in 3S & MvC2

Line Of The Day: "And here we have the LOOOOOOSEEEEEERS!" (Byron pans with the Camcorder and takes a look at so many people who lost).

As per usual I was up way early (not too bad at 8:30am) for this tournament after staying up late playing casual with Byron and Steve the night before. I pick up Byron right on time and head to Tim Hortons waiting for Steve. We wait... and wait... and wait. I end up seeing a friend of mine and damn she's got a great rack, I mean mother of Christ why didn't I think to ask her out by now? ANYWAY, Byron and I are like "fuck Steve, let's jet" after waiting 20 minutes and then Steve magically appears in the knick of time.

We grab Gerjay and Chris Q from Pizza Pizza and I had to drive nicely because Matt doesn't know how to get to Woodbine. Anyway, the trip goes off without much of a hitch as we make fun of Shumayel for a while (you can't touch me in Alpha 3 you FUCKING SCRUB!). We see a plane fly really close overhead and everyone starts talking about what would happen if the plane crashed into the 427 and how fucked everyone would be with a giant chunk of the highway literally gone. We finally reach Woodbine and there NO ONE THERE! OH FUCK!

Team Brampton & Sauga Crew were the only ones there for a while. I had some sick matches with Chris Q where I literally blew two big leads with stupidity (I have so much to learn about Marvel, especially when it comes to finding a way to finish the match). I played exactly one game of CvS2 casual and got OCV'd by Byron's P Groove. Bah whatever. 3S casual was sick as I went on a six game win streak and then got smoked by Jonathan.

TOSF call my cell phone and I get a decent number of who's going to be joining the respective tournaments so we can make brackets. BTW, lunch was awesome as we find this Philly Cheese Steak place that's obviously run by FOB Chinese girls but they make AWESOME sandwiches so it's all good. Bryan decides that he's going to eat wherever I eat from this point forward because every time we have lunch together, I get something that he thinks is way better than what he got.

3RD STRIKE

Vs Butch (1st Round): This was a re-match from the first Woodbine Tournament where I got smoked. This was almost an exact replay as Butch destroys me with Ken and I sit there taking all his shit and forget how to parry.

Vs Leslie (1st Round - Losers Bracket): Leslie was all pissed that I beat him down in CvS2 so he takes his best guy (Dudley) and nearly double perfects me both matches. BRUUUUUUTAAAAAAL!

MARVEL VS CAPCOM 2

Vs ROC (1st Round): This pissed me right off. I joined this tournament under the agreement that I'd play either Jonathan or Marvin. So of course I get to play Steven. Totally destroyed in the first game. I made a decent run in the second game but made too many dumb mistakes and it was over.

Vs James (1st Round - Losers Bracket): I forfight in order to give James an advance over Matt after a bracket fuck up.

CAPCOM VS SNK 2

Vs Shawn (1st Round): I was actually supposed to get a buy in the first round as a top 8 entrant but Shawn showed up very late and I figured "why not." Total destruction as the first game I almost OCV'd him and the second game I did OCV him.

Vs Leslie (2nd Round): This was the original scheduled match as Leslie and I always have great battles and this was no different. The first game was crazy tight as he takes his K Blanka/Sakura/Sagat against my usual tourney team. I fucked up big at the end and ate super for the loss. Second match was nothing like the first as I rushed him down hard with Vega and nearly OCV'd him. Third match was back to back and forth stuff but not as tight as I'd have liked. Vega did most of the work, Guile got pounded and Kim cleaned up early.

Vs Bryan (3rd Round): This was fucked up as I was expecting to play Marvin but Bryan pulled the upset. First game was a slaughter as Bryan had no clue on how to fight Vega and took a pounding. The second game I build a huge lead and watched it evaporate as Bryan's Sagat just brutalizes me for huge damage in the comeback. The third match in INSAAAAAANE as I build the lead, Bryan makes the comeback and I win with literally 5% health off his botched Tiger Uppercut that only ended up being a Standing Fierce. TOOOOOO CLOSE!

Vs Tony (Semi Finals): Again I'm the recipient of wacky circumstances as Tony pulled the upset beating Ian 2 - 1 and saving me another match with my CvS2 nemesis. This was quick and painless. I OCV'd him with Vega the first match so Tony asks to switch sides. It was a little more balanced but still nothing to worry about as Vega does most of the work, Guile got punked and I use C.U.R.T. to clean up.

Vs Roger (Winners Finals): We decide to go 2/3 to save time, not that it would have made a difference. The first game was actually balanced until the end and I made too many dumb mistakes and his Sagat took me out. Second game I got OCV'd by his sickening Rolento.

Vs Jay (Losers Finals): Jay put me at ease a bit by beating Marvin. I figured I could take Jay because we had played a few weeks back and I laid a beating on him. I figured wrong. All the matches were SOOOOOO CLOSE but I came out on the losing end too much. First game Jay took it with Standing 720. Second game I used C.U.R.T. and got the job done. Third game I mistimed a Hurricane by like 1/10th of a second and eat another Standing 720. Fourth match was rough as my Kim got brutalized by his R2 Blanka and I couldn't make the comeback. A bit anti climactic after all the tight matches beforehand but still a very fun set.

This was definitely a confidence builder going into ECC9. I was hoping to face a bit more heavy hitting competition in Marvin & Ian but that obviously didn't pan out. Ah well...

HIGHLIGHTS:

The wallet scam was too good. :evil:

Matt is the happiest person in the world when he's high. :p

Bryan throws the sixth match against ROC to make Grand Finals dramatic. :wtf:

Teddy enters NO TOURNAMENTS? :confused:

This tourney had more upsets than I've ever see (Bryan over Marvin, Tony over Ian, Jay over Ian, Matt over Dennis, Jay over Marvin) :sweat:

That was a very solid round robin... Close matches throughout, especially with Byron. That match was soooo cool. The very last hit was him doing standing strong or fierce agianst my mp blanka ball... I was going for throw... dunno what he wanted... but meh. Haven't had many draw games, so it was cool.

It's pretty late and I've already been owned up today so I'll keep this relatively short. Kevin, Shu, Gerjay, Byron and Steve managed to make it over for casual but of course when we've got this many players it ends up in a tournament.

CAPCOM VS SNK 2

Vs Kevin (2nd Round): Gerjay and I got the byes in the first round. Kevin went over Steve (no surprise there). I was a bit scared because Kevin's been smoking my tournament team lately with his comeback Sagat and dirty Dhalism. My fears were put to rest though as Kevin got scammed out more times than I could count with Air Throws and stuff that hit when it shoudln't have. First game was tough but not heart pounding. Second game was pretty easy and I didn't have to use R2 Kim.

Vs Gerjay (Winners Finals): DEAR GOD NOT AGAIN! Last year the story of Gerjay and I was simple. I out turtled him and won all of our tournament sets. This year (since around December of 2003) I haven't been able to take a single tournament win from Gerjay. Tonight was no different. The matches were all super tight (like usual) but in the end I came out the loser (like usual). Three straight and I'm off to face...

Vs Byron (Losers Finals): I was really hoping to face Shumayel but he totally blew it against Byron and now I'm stuck playing this cheap motherfucker for the billionth time. The first match he went Ultra Turtle on me and I couldn't get in for shit. I got frustrated and tried stupid stuff and lost. Second game he did the same but I was ready for him and trash talked him a whole bunch. It gave me just enough to get the job done as I hit dash throw with 001 left on the clock for the victory. Third match was INSAAAAAANE as we go back and forth the whole way through until the end. My Vega takes a huge lead, then his Sakura goes CC crazy and takes me down to nearly nothing. Then we both get openings but can't capitalize and he beats me by a sliver of health with the time running out.

TIME: My mom completely owns me up at 1:30am freaking that we're still playing so loudly while they're trying to sleep and reminding me that I have work early today (why I'm online I have no idea).

Fourth match was pretty anti climactic as we had to wrap up and all the adrenaline I had from the set was washed way by the ownage of my mom. SUCKY! Byron smoked me with Blanka (though I didn't put much effort into it after the ownage) and that was that. We pretty much decided Gerjay would have won this thing anyway and put it to rest.

HIGHLIGHTS:

Where was Bryan & James? :confused:

Shumayel turns down my offer of Heineken. :eek:

Kevin screaming profanity at the laggy ST on Kaillera. :D

Line Of The Day: "Oh god, let's go around, I don't want to walk through all this trash." (Gerjay talking about the giant crowd of people crowding CvS2 on Friday night).

Holy shit. You think that I don't get any sleep before our regular tournaments, well FUCK THAT, I got like two hours sleep before ECC9. Pretty much enough so that I didn't go FUCKING INSANE for the next 24 hours. I get up that morning and hit CvS2 like a motherfucker going over Kim combos so there's no fuck ups at the tournament. My mom turns to me and says "aren't you going to be playing this for three days?" WHAT THE HELL DO MOMS KNOW?! So Jason shows up and HE'S GOT A VAN! FUCK YEAH! No cramped bullshit for us. I honestly didn't know how his Golf was going to contain the collective "power" of Gerjay, Bryan and myself without being forced to become a low rider but we got the van so it's all good.

We head up to Pizza Pizza and my plan works to a tee as I told Bryan and Gerjay an earlier time than I knew we'd be there to account for Bryan never being on time. Then he tells me he was not only on time but EARLY! WHAT... THE... FUCK?! HEY LOOK IT'S MATT HAYVREN! He tells me about the super scam on why he can skip class without getting suspended and I'm in total awe of his genius that I never would have thought of when I was in high school. WE'RE ON OUR WAY! YEAH!

Bryan loads up the gangsta rap shit he got from Dee Jay so we don't have to listen to the radio (THANK GOD!) and Jason fucking boots it to the border. Bryan tries to coach Gerjay in the ways of Advance Wars 2 but it doesn't go far. They loan me Namco Museum and I get the shit beat out of me by Galaxian and Pole Position. FUCK THIS GAME! So we get to the border and play a round of "that guy's getting strip searched" with the definite winner going to the indian guy who's in a truck with A FUCKING MOTOR HOME! INDIAN AND BIG HOUSE OF POSSIBLE BOMBS!? OH FUCK NO! Of course our car has two white boys, a black guy not wearing baggy shit, gang marks or a doo rag so he's obviously harmless and an Asian guy. "Go right on in, have a great time blowing up our country." Bryan gets pissy about how he could have made sick amounts of money selling Canadian weed with the weak security but he gets over it.

We drive for about four hours and finally take a break. We reach McDonalds and it's BIZARRO WORLD! This place is FUCKING GREAT! They give me this supersize coke and you could easily kill a person with. JESUS CHRIST LOOK AT THAT THING! Even the fries are massive compared to ours and the Big Mac was top tier. US McDonalds > Canadian Wendy's. Bryan spends 20 minutes trying to convince us to play four player Sundance Heroes "Come on Curt, you get to shoot the guys and ride on a horse. That shit is too good." I won't budge on playing that piece of shit and buy sunglasses instead. Two minutes after wearing them I hate them. What a waste of money.

We reach the hotel is record time (7 and 1/2 hours, easily destroying the 10 hour shit people were telling us about) and go to play some games but THE TV FUCKING SUCKS! RF MY BIG BLACK ASS! So we ask the front desk to rent a VCR and they can't help. FUCKING USELESS SHIT! I take a walk over to Blockbuster and they don't rent VCR's either. OH MY GOD! I find an RF to RCA converter but it's FUCKING THIRTY US DOLLARS! FUCK THIS PLACE TOO! So I reach back and it's time to get our shit together at the arcade.

I've got to say; NEW JERSEY ROADS FUCKING SUCK MY COCK! WHO THE FUCK PUTS MEDIANS ALL OVER LIKE THIS! GOD DAMN IT! If you can believe it, to get from our Motel to The Break, you've got to make a right, go into a strip mall, make a U turn and then come back around so you can get back onto the main road. FUCKING IDIOT DESIGNERS! We have no idea how to reach The Break so we go into Electronic Boutique and the store clerk gives us "The Prophecy." He basically says "go up the street until you're in the middle of the town. You'll see a Shell station and a pharmacy on each side of the road." OOOHHH! THAT'S DEEP SHIT! Of course THERE ARE THREE SHELL STATIONS ON THE WAY THERE! FUCK! We finally get to what we think is the middle of town (and thank goodness we at least knew the street name) only to find out it wasn't a Shell station we needed to look for.

Jason gets the greatest spot ever and NEARLY RUNS OVER JUSTIN WONG! HOLY FUCK! That's the kind of impression we're obviously hoping to make; kill the top player and assure we get just that much higher a rank in the tournament. Everyone fans out and of course the first thing I do is put down on CvS2. Of course there's 10 quarters ahead of me so I beast on Alpha 3 (KAILLERA THAT SHIT!) and watch some random GGXX: Izuka. Let me tell you, that game is INSANITY! So much shit going on, it makes your head hurt. I finally get a shot at CvS2 and meet the first really cool guy on the trip; Life Time Boy. He has the insane P Groove and I bust out B Team (Yuri/Chun/Terry). My wacky Yuri did a good job but this guy adapts fast and then it's all downhill because he's played so many better Chun Li's and Terry's that my scrubby shit won't cut it. There's another 10 games or so ahead of me so I say fuck this and play Marvel against Rick Mears. BEASTED ON! He gives his game to Sporty and I TAKE THAT SHIT BACK! My Cable does a number on him but falls to Sentinel and that was the only game of Marvel I played at the arcade.

They moved CvS2 across the arcade and force Life Time Boy to give up his TWENTY EIGHT GAME WIN STREAK! HOLY SHIT! So I'm smart enough to just jump on the free machine and go to work with Top Team and beast on people with C.U.R.T. like it's nobody's business. I eventually team up with Roger, giving him my Guile but we get demolished by David (don't know the last name) from NYC because he uses ROLL CANCEL PILEDRIVER! BROKEN AS FUCK! Gerjay and I finally convince Eric to join our CvS2 team and HEEEEEERE WE GO!

CAPCOM VS SNK 2 (Team Tournament)

Vs Team Jiggabry (1st Round): That isn't a typo, that's the name of the team we faced. A Minor Threat seems to be a big fan of "Jigga Fucking Bry" and named his team after him. I'm put on point and totally randomize their first two players using C.U.R.T. and going nuts in the corner using face rush down throws and my Triple Kick Reset bait out. I take out 1/2 of the third guy and Gerjay cleans up.

Vs Empire White (2nd Round): The team consists of Eddie Lee/Nibor/Justin Wong. I go toe to toe with Eddie Lee's Vega but made a dumb mistake near the end of the round and leave him with a bit of life. Gerjay gets beasted on but manages to take him out. Then Gerjay turns it on like crazy and DESTROYS Nibor's Chun Li using only like 10% health. OUCH! So Gerjay dies with like 5% of Nibor's Chun and Eric just throws him to finish that. So it's down to Justin Wong vs Eric Liu and boy was this match nuts. They play footsies for 1/2 the match until Justin hits c.mk xx Fireball Super. Eric makes a crazy comeback and it looks like we've got the match won when he hits Claw Super but it MISSES BY A NANOMETRE! MOTHERFUCK! So they keep going and then Eric has another chance to win but CANCELS HIS OWN SUPER! NOOOOOO! Justin thus beats out a Lvl2 Vega Kick Super with a pathetic c.lk and it's a race against the clock and Eric rushes him like crazy but there's no time left and we lose. DAMN IT!

Vs Team Philly (2nd Round - Losers Bracket) Team Philly consists of Alex Anderson/Som D/Josh Wong. I was looking forward to playing Alex Anderson as I'd heard a lot about him. I run my Kim vs his Sagat and it sucks horribly. He turtles like a motherfucker and I knew I was in trouble because I can't use C.U.R.T. if he's just going to sit there and use Crouching Fierce all day. So I get pulverized after losing my cool. Gerjay gets the job done against Alex and then beats on Som for a while before losing. So it's up to Eric and he takes down Som. Josh Wong was too much though as Eric eats one RC Electricity after another and can't make the comeback in time. GGPO

So we came 9th when I honestly thought we should have come at least 5th if either of Eric's supers had hit Justin Wong. Rough.

I taped the entire Team Tournament in CvS2, some random GGXX:I so DarkDragon could get some footage of Jay holding shit down with Potemkin (he beasted on people 2 on 1 like a mad man) and chilled with random people.

HIGHLIGHTS:

Eric is touched by THE POWER GLOVE and feels the power flow though him. :lame:

Three US players tried to bring their Kim to me and get beasted on. :cool:

Watching YellowS4 beast on random players 2 on 1 in Izuka. :eek:

We got back to Motel 6 around 3:00am after they close The Break down for the night. Triple J (Noodleman/Gerjay/YellowS4) go to sleep but Bryan and I have none of that shit. Bryan takes off to Roger's room for a while and I join him a bit later. We played a few games of CvS2 (I managed to defeat Cole in our only game against each other) and watch some more matches before heading back to the room.

GERJAY SNORES LIKE A MOTHERFUCKER! DAMN IT!

NOODLEMAN GRINDS HIS TEETH IN HIS SLEEP! DAMN IT!

BRYAN COMES TO BED AT 7:00AM AND WAKE'S ME UP! DAMN IT!

I grab a shower and take this one period in the trip that I know I'll have complete solitude to get breakfast on my own. There was a Burger King across the parking lot from the Motel and it wasn't too busy so I got my order (their hash brown bites are bigger in the US and their Egg & Bacon Bagel was top tier so I don't hate US Burger King either (BIZARRO WORLD!). I call my mommy (AWWWWWW) and head back.

We get a parking spot but don't bother to run over Justin Wong this time around (mainly because he wasn't there... DUH!). The Break was actually pretty empty that morning with everyone recovering from the weekend before so JS and I team up with me taking an R1 Kim and unleashing C.U.R.T. on tons of people who didn't have a clue what was going on. HAHA! We won something like eight games in a row and then lost to uh... NYC David? Maybe? Shit I don't remember. The place starts filling up and then we get the first crazy crowd as Roger goes on a win streak and Ricky Ortiz shows up. OOOOOHHHH SHIIIIIIT! It's pure back and forth battle but Ortiz manages to pull it out. So Eric steps up to the plate. OOOOOHHHH SHIIIIIIT! This looked like the Roger match only Eric used A instead of K. Crazy back and forth stuff but Eric eventually loses. So who's next?

Ricky Ortiz vs Nagata Lock II
I stood there thinking to myself "alright, you're not going to win, but you're going to fuck him up at least." Ricky runs with C Guile/Ken/Cammy(2) and I run with Kim/Guile/Vega(2). C.U.R.T. SYSTEM IS FULL EFFECT! I actually only got to use C.U.R.T. on two occasions but it was worth it to hear people behind me say "what the hell was that?" HAHA! I played really patient and waiting out Sonic Booms like mad and wittled him down to nothing before dying. Guile's up and of course Ricky looks at my charging Sonic Boom to start so I FUCKING SMACK HIM WITH AIR BACKBREAKER! MOVE! That got lots of "OOOOHHHH" from the crowd. Again patience is the key as I play Guile exactly like I normally do with Sonic Boom - jump kick trap, roll Lvl2 Super and all that other shit. Again I lost with a bit of health left. Again my next guy punks him out. So now it's down to my full Vega vs his Cammy and I'M ACTUALLY WINNING! I'm all over the place running away like a motherfucker and getting in little cheap shots. Then it happens, I HIT LEVEL 2 KICK SUPER! OH FUCK I COULD WIN! RUSH AWAAAAAAY! I keep running trying to drain the clock and the crowd is totally into this shit and then I get hit by one c.hk xx lvl2 Cannon Smasher xx lvl1 Cannon Drill Super and I'm done. FUCK! SO FUCKING CLOSE!

I spent the next hour with people coming up to me saying "almost had him" and "too close man" and well yeah... you get the idea. I got nuff respect for my style of play and I totally dig that because I've always had people go on about how I'm still shit because I'm not a combo machine and I don't RC and I don't use top tier teams.

Anyway; I cringe in horror as I watch the guys eat Break Steaks FOR BREAKFAST! UGH! DIE NOW! and they announce that CvS2 qualifiers will be starting in a few minutes. They announce the first pool and I'm in it... WITH RICKY ORTIZ, ARCADE KID AND BALTIMORE CHUN! OH FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!

CAPCOM VS SNK 2 QUALIFIER

Vs Afro Guy (1st Round): I haven't got a clue who this guy was but he was huge with a giant afro. Oh yeah; AND HE FUCKING SUCKED! He uses K Ryu/Ken/Cammy and I OCV him with Guile in the first match using my usual bullshit offense. Second match I nearly OCV him again but he gets to my Vega and takes like three hits for the victory. That was sad.

Vs Ricky Ortiz (2nd Round): Oh this is just fucking lovely. When they announced the names of the participants my name was right after Ricky and I thought I was playing him in the first round. Then I realized that Ortiz got a bye and my name was in the next bracket. SON OF A BITCH! We sit down to play and he turns to me and says "wait... didn't you almost beat me over there?" "Uh... maybe?" "Not this time you won't." He uses A Vega/Sakura/Bison and I take my usual team. First match was a disaster as I was way too nervous and the MASStick was moving all over the place. Second match I get a stool and in a moment that I won't forget, I STEP ON RICKY'S FOOT! OH SHIT! HAHA! He's of course wearing Sandles and boy did he get pissed off. So we play the match and I actually gave this one a go as I make it to his last character before bowing out. Brutal match but I didn't exactly expect much.

Vs Liston (3rd Round - Losers Bracket): I'm not quite sure where this guy is from. I saw him beat some other guy and then we got to play. He used C Cammy/Blanka/Sagat(2) so I wasn't worried about jack shit because I fight this team all the time except against Noodleman's far superior K Groove. First match went just like I thought. Guile beat Cammy, Kim beat Blanka, Vega beat Sagat. Second match I got cocky as I mowed through his first two guys and then he makes the big comeback. Third match was tight but again I had no worries as I never lost the lead and took it.

Vs Arcade Kid (4th Round - Losers Bracket): GOD DAMN IT! I take a look at Alex and say "yep, my day is over." This was actually a horrible set of circumstances as Alex lost to Baltimore Chun in the 2nd round of winners, which nobody was expecting. I honestly thought (when I saw the brackets) that Alex was going to beat James Paige, I would lose to Ricky, beat whoever I had to in the next round, beat James Paige and whomever else I could and face Arcade Kid in losers finals. Of course that didn't pan out at all. Anyway the first match was basically a slaughter. Alex takes P Terry/Blanka/Cammy and his Terry demolishes me with Blanka cleaning up. I sat back for a minute and said "fuck this, I'm sick of being scared of parrying bullshit." I switch up my order putting Vega first and rush his ass with Rolling Crystal Flash and anything else I could. I take out his Terry but lose to Blanka. Kim takes down Blanka (as he should from all the Kim vs Blanka matches I've fought against Jason) and then it's Cammy. I lose Kim and my Guile does a good job but I lose out still. Another game or two and I'd have had this shit down. Ah well... so much for my main game.

Truth be told, I can't really bitch much about my performance in the singles tournament. I lost to the guy that eventually won the tournament and lost to one of the, if not the best P Groove players in North America. My other two matches were either a slaughter (the opener) or even with me never really having a decent shot of actually losing it. Like I said earlier, outside of the two I lost to, the rest I would have taken to town (James Paige might have beaten me but I have my doubts). I think I got 5th or 7th in my pool (depending on where my bye was in losers) which is solid still.

I spend the rest of my afternoon taping matches from the various members of the GTA. By night time, Roger and Eric had qualified. Wing and Gerjay both made it to Losers Finals but lost to Veasna and Alex Walberg respectively (it should be noted Gerjay could have won his match but played dumb and against all my coaching for some reason). The bulk of Team GTA are eliminated but we're still waiting on Tony, Bryan and Ian to play in the last pool of the day. In the meantime...

SUPER STREET FIGHTER II TURBO (Qualifiers)

Vs tall black guy (1st Round): Sorry for the lack of names but I haven't got a clue who the guy I was facing was. We use the middle cabinet and I already hate the machine after 30 seconds because I can't Dragon Punch. BTW, we go Ryu vs Ryu. Anyway, I give it a go and we get to third round but I miss a Dragon Punch (FUCKING STICK!) and lose. I said "FUCK THIS!" and take Vega so I don't have to depend on rotation BS. Of course I rush his ass and he's got no idea how to fight it. Take that shit no problem. Third match I don't know what I did. I stopped rushing and kept trying to throw him from a defensive position. Now either my throw timing was off (which seems like blasphemy) or the stick itself was being dumb (possible but I doubt it). In any case, I lost the match.

Vs Koop (1st Round - Losers Bracket): I should note KOOP IS THE MAN! He puts in his quarter but chooses Ryu by accident. Now here's where I get stupid. I know I'm going to use Vega against his Chun Li but because he got stuck I let him switch sides and I took Ryu. Of course I get pulverized. So I take Vega as I should and it's the same story as the first one. I rush him down and take the match. Third match was just plain balanced out as he countered my rush and I had no answer for his so I lost.

So much for Super Turbo, I knew I was out of my league anyway and don't even know why I bothered to enter a tournament I had no shot in hell of qualifying in.

It's starting to get a bit late (around 11:00pm) and FINALLY Ian's bracket is called up. I taped a lot of his matches including his match vs Bryheem Keyes that opened the door for me to meet Big Eric from Philly as I bet $1 on Ian and he backed up Bryheem. Of course Ian takes that shit and I'm up a buck. Anyway, Ian blows it (Eric's words) against Josh Wong and gets sent to losers and this is where it gets nutty. Ian keeps playing matches, a lot of matches, like enough matches to make you think he was working his way through the entire losers bracket instead of being put in 5th spot like he should. He burns through like four guys and faces Bryheem again but loses this time around so Ian is out... or so we thought (I'll get to this in the next day's log).

Triple J and I decide to get dinner from this buffet place that Jiggabry was pimping earlier in the night and let me say this right now; THAT PLACE FUCKING SUCKED! WORST... BUFFET... EVER! It was supposed to be Chinese/American/Italien buffet but it's like they took the worst food from each region, made sure that there was no way it could taste good and then threw it out there. HORRIBLE! The best part was listening to Parry Master Jay talk about how ghetto NJ was ("look at these fucks, they eat food while in line at the steam tray, fucking hicks in this place").

The rest of the night was crazy MvC2 Team Tournament stuff and money matches. I don't think US players are capable of playing MvC2 without money on the line. It's part of their genetic make up or something. In any case, we watch a lot of that and then CvS2 finally frees up and I FINALLY GET TO GO ON A STREAK! ABOUT TIME! I beat NYC David (who schooled me badly the day before with RC Gief but I was ready this time around), Alex Walberg (who I still think Gerjay should have beat), Parry Master Jay, bunch of people from NY/NJ who couldn't handle C.U.R.T. and other random people. I got around 10 - 12 wins and what happens? TIME TO CLOSE FOR THE NIGHT! FUCK!

So we head back to the Motel and it's just more games. I was going to go to Roger's room again but I hear noises coming from another room so I walk in and some NYC players are playing CvS2. I use B Team (Yuri/Chun/Terry) and show NYC why Yuri is such a dangerous character after a couple of their players questioned me on why I would use such a shitty character. WHO'S SHIT NOW?! SLAP THAT SHIT! OCV YOUR ASS! They switch up to GGXX and I walk out and into another room where they're about to have a MvC2 tournament. I talk to Bryheem for a while and start joking around about how he beat Ian. Then it slips out "I don't even know why I faced your boy, I already lost twice in that tournament."

I'm beyond pissed at this point and storm in Roger's room to let everyone know that Ian got scammed the fuck out. Everyone is pissed but we figured there was nothing we could do about it. Well FUCK THAT I'd do something about it. I was so pissed I just thought it best to go to bed and figure shit out in the morning with a cooler head.

I'll post Day 3 of ECC9 sometime this weekend, I put it in Word because I wasn't sure what I wanted to write outside of explaining the Ian situation. Anyway; we had casual at my place which of course turned into a tournament.

CAPCOM VS SNK 2

Vs Tyrell (2nd Round): Tyrell and Anant were the only ones to play in the first round because we had nine players. Anyway, Tyrell is crazy random and fucks up my Guile and part of my Vega. I get freaked and decide to super focus and it pays off as I outpoke him and use tons of AA to get myself back into it and pull out the win. Second match was a lot more lopsided in my favour and I knew how to fight him and got it done without R2.

Vs Byron (3rd Round): This was the usual back and forth stuff. In this case, Byron ended up on the better end of things going 2 - 0 against me. I'm not really going to get into it outside of he used A Sagat/Sakura/Rugal and used CC's to gain the victory.

Vs Shumayel (4th Round - Losers Bracket): Shu's trying to get his game back together, and it looks like I had to be the victim. The first match was a slaughter as I didn't get anything going and got smoked without seeing his R2. Second game was a lot of the same until I got sick of being punked on supers and switched to controller. This pays immediate dividends as I make the comeback. Third match was balanced until his R2 Blanka comes out and I get rushed down for free.

HIGHLIGHTS:

I apparently talk to the TV far too much. :lame:

It's odd, if Jason took A Groove instead of K (which I presume he would use) we'd each represent a different groove (leaving S Groove out of course). :wtf:

friday I work until 7 in mississauga, if I grab the bus I could be at BCC for roughly 8:30 at best, if I'm lucky. If any of Sauga crew is coming down, maybe I could get a ride with them . . . let me know if any of them are going, ie. Gerjay or Kevin or whatever, so I can ask before hand.

As to jd'ing better than me, lets hope so! Otherwise we are in trouble! :p I haven't played since the last time I was over at Justins place, although I played 3S at York once, but other than that, I'm as rust as hell. Its good to know that my old sparring partners will be the one's to get me back into shape. Is Byron coming on friday?

Hmm, well thats about it . . . oh wait . . . fuck, forget everything I just wrote about friday, I totally forgot (and I'm too lazy to erase it), thats my friends birthday party, and I can't miss it. Today was fun... but rough too.

Highlight Of The Day: None really.

Low Point Of The Day: Realizing this will be the last "Justin vs Jason vs Byron" casual I may ever host.

Line Of The Day: "Just because you're moving to Calgary doesn't mean you have to start playing like Calgary." (Getting in one last jab on Byron after Jason OCV'd him).

Today was lots of fun. Gerjay said that they'd be playing Marvel at his place so I said forget about that and had Team BCC over for our last casual session before Byron leaves on Sunday. The usual fun time was had by all.

HIGHLIGHTS:

Byron will never be able to do anything outside of the scrub Ken CC. :lame:

Jason uses all his JD power on Byron and has none left in the tank for me. :evil:

I must have been OCC'd like 10 times tonight. :bluu:

The funniest match was when I was playing Byron, I was using P, and he was using K...I kept trying to JD, and he kept trying to parry...for the entire match! hahahaha.

Shoppers World Arcade has gone through MAJOR changes. Roger & Vincent (ownership of METRO and VA) have taken over ownership of Future Games (Shoppers World) and installed a ton of new stuff. Check out this line up:

Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike
Super Street Fighter II: Turbo
Street Fighter II: Hyper Fighting
Tekken 4
Soul Calibur 2
Street Fighter EX+ 2

All games are in MINT condition except CvS2's screen which needs adjustment (you can't see the very far right and left so you can't really tell if you have full bar or not). I would venture to guess they won't have that kind of awesome condition for long so we need to organize a tourney soon.

Roger & Vincent were both at Shoppers World today installing other machines and I had a talk with Vincent. He said they're very interested in getting a tournament scene in there so we're good to go as soon as I drop an email there way.

shoppers world's cvs 2 is kind of annoying, but it works, so yay!

their 3S is still good in my opinion, so yay again

however, their HF is on some crazy difficulty, I can't get past Gief for the life of me, anyways, Jason showed up which was fun, I think I still came out on top, but his wake up jd throw is getting annoying, so I'll have none of that . . . Geese is still a fucking beast, and Hibiki is still the ultimate bitch!!

umm, I don't think I can make the rescheduled day for the 5v5 . . . I booked this saturday off, which was hard as it is, I don't think they will let me, let alone if I could afford to miss any more work.

Actually no, this option wasn't explored. I have zero issue with this scenario. basically we'd split the rides up to Hamilton but Jason would have to drive Pete, Tyrell and Steve home. If that's the case I am definitely on for this Saturday still at Eastgate Mall. Jason? Can you do it?

went to shoppers world today. I say that T5 should be held at shoppers world instead of orbit.

Sticks on 3s and cvs2 were a bit loose IMO but otherwise they were fine. ST and HF sticks need to be fixed. HF 2player side has occasional autojab and ST 2player side is just wack. I could do Fei Long triple kick consistently but I could only get flame kick 1 out of 100 tries.

If shoppers world manages to get A3 that would make it the best arcade in Ontario lol.

Wow it's been a long day of games and we're still going (I'm at UN).

Highlight Of The Day: 5th in CvS2

Low Point Of The Day: 5th in CvS2 (I'll explain later in the log)

Line Of The Day: "You know guys, it's just meat left, I think I'll package it up and take it home with me." (Ultra Random Black Guy is too good).

I basically got to sleep around 5:00am this morning after having played dominos with Marvin, Ryan & Wing. I figured I would get at least five hours sleep and then pick up Steve & Tyrell. How wrong I was. I forgot to turn off my alarm from the previous days work and so I wake up at 8:00am. THREE FUCKING HOURS SLEEP! I'm one of those people where when you're up, it's all over so I was screwed. There weren't too many people up online so I just got brackets and watched some footage of previous stuff (Hamilton vs Brampton was jokes. "Oh it's for the vaaaaaacuuuuuuum. That suuuuuuucks"). I run a couple of errands and then it's off to Tim Hortons.

I take the time to clean out my trunk while waiting for Tyrell & Steve. I wait... and wait... and wait. Now I'm not really worried because Steve is notoriously late when I tell him to meet me. So I call his place at 11:15am and his dad says he's still sleeping. GOD DAMN IT! I couldn't know if Tyrell was on his way or waiting for Steve but either way I said fuck it and left on my own. The ride was sooooooo stupid as I completely missed the 407 exit and then get onto the 401 only to come back onto the 427 and grab the 407 from there. I reached early still and people are already playing Marvel and GGXX.

I nearly have a heart attack when the attendant tells me that they're not aware of any tournament today and that we wouldn't have Event Mode. I tell him to get his boss on the phone and sure enough Simon managed to hook us up a couple hours later. I pretty much run GGXX in casual until Stephen & Jay show up and then I run away like a little bitch. We do sign ups but I pull out of GGXX at the last minute (why was it $5 when every other tourney was $3?) because I'm not ready for pressure comp yet. I sign up for MvC2 & CvS2 and heeeeeere we go.

MARVEL VS CAPCOM 2

Vs Mike C (1st Round): I figured this would be a solid match as I played Mike in Waterloo a few months back and he was just above my level then and now I got better. Too bad I FUCKING SUCKED THE BAG! Nothing worked. NOTHING! It's not the fault of the controls either, I just didn't execute for shit. First game was back and forth, second game was an OCV. Just brutal.

Vs Karan (2nd Round - Losers Bracket): Since when does Karan play Marvel? Anyway, this was basically me getting away with tons of shit that better players would never fall for. I took it two straight without worrying about it.

Vs Nathan (3rd Round - Losers Bracket): Oh lord... every time I play G3nn his Magneto rapes me and then I try to work my way back. Well his Magneto raped me but there was no clawing back this time around. Peace Out.

CAPCOM VS SNK 2

Vs Karan (2nd Round): Most of the players got a bye in the first round. Karan managed to beat Teddy (which I can't say I was expecting). I hadn't played Karan in probably a year and 1/2 and didn't take him seriously. I changed my tune pretty quick as he rushed me down pretty well and I was on the ropes early. Kim and C.U.R.T. made the comeback in the first match. Second match I took a big lead and nearly blew it but again C.U.R.T. saved me from an early loss.

Vs Dennis (3rd Round): Heh... this was interesting. I know Dennis has been tuning up for T5 so I was expecting a good match. I got one. The first match we go back and forth as he takes some A Groove team (sorry I forget what team) and I manage to take it from him. He switches to C Blanka/Chun/Sagat and I get destroyed by his Chun. Third match I put Vega in the back (True Tournament Team) and got a huge scare as he smokes my first two characters and it's up to Vega to make the miracle comeback. I poke away at his Blanka and still have about 40% health left. Against Sagat while using Vega, that's plenty. I turtle like a motherfucker, pick my spots and AA along with Air Throw at key points. I wittle him down to the point he's got to rush before time runs out and I take it.

Vs Roger (4th Round): Sometimes I wonder why I bother to fight Roger and then we have games like this. First game he uses A Rolento/Blanka/Bison and I go even with him the entire way, use C.U.R.T. against his Bison and squeeze out a victory. So he switches to C Honda/Guile/Sagat and NOW I'M SCARED! His Honda is a total monster and I'm Roger's bitch for two games. Just ugly.

SOOOOOOOOO.....

NOTHING!

The time ran out just as I was supposed to face Ian (GOD DAMN IT). I want to finish at METRO but Dennis and Ken protest and we manage to settle things by giving Roger 1st, Ken 2nd, Ian 3rd via Rock Paper Scissors playoff with Dennis. Dennis of course gets 4th and I get stuck with 5th. Truth be told I know I can take Ian at this point and was really disappointed I didn't get my shot at him. Ah well...

I'm at UN right now and it's pretty fun. I'm basically playing GGXX, MvC2 and 3S so I get my money's worth. I'll finish the log when I've dropped people off later tonight.

If T5 is gonig to be at orbit, somone needs to get the techs to fix the goddamn machine. Maybe like put in a new set of buttons or something.

Time to wrap up the log:

UN was pretty fun. Rey beasted on me horribly with Sol for most of the night and when I wasn't losing to him I was losing to Gerjay and his Dust Loop bullshit. I finally realized that Gamma Blade is a sick move and need to use it a lot more but that'll have to wait until I get my PS2 back. DAMN IT! I owned up Marvel except when playing Gerjay or Teddy as they beat me even with low tier shit teams that I should be smoking. Marrow/Guile/T Bonne should be renamed Team Whore and burned in hell. CvS2 was same as usual. I ran shit when I played until the end when Jimmy decides to go Super Saiyan and smokes just about every one of my teams including Tournament Team. Mario > me in 3S but I owned up the rest.

HIGHLIGHTS:

Rey OCV's Teddy's R4 Sagat with R1 Yuri. :eek:

I actually manage to get wins with K Groove. Interesting... :D

Rey manages to win a game of GGXX all three rounds with Jam Destroyer. :bluu:

Also, I literally got into this game on a level beyong that of "this looks fun, let's drop a token on it" about six weeks ago. I have ZERO competition at home and Sauga Crew only started to play it because I left my PS2 at Gerjay's. So the only time I actually do get to play it with real comp is at ORBIT and there's only so many times I can make a 1/2 drive up to Markham to get beasted on by Stephen and Eric.

My GGXX has gone so far down hill since you came up to UW. I literally don't play that game for weeks on end and then play a game against computer if no one is playing marvel.

Road to T5 - 2nd Stage is coming up this Saturday. I hope to see many people there so we can make this successful and give Roger & Vincent a reason to invest more in that arcade with games like GGXX and 3S.

I popped into Shoppers World today to make sure all the machines were fixed and Roger did a fantastic job with all my requests. Everything works like a charm except the small CvS2 cabinet still has the slightly scrunched up screen. Ah well... can't have it all.

Apparently Friday afternoon is a good time to go because there was tons of comp. I played a very good Zangief player in ST for a while and there was actually a decent MvC2 player using Magneto/Storm/Cammy who said he'd probably show tomorrow.

Tyler and I continued the feud with him taking almost all the games. That guy never ceases to amaze me. He's not just good with some characters. He's good with EVERY CHARACTER! He beasted on me with fucking K Kyosuke/Athena/Sagat(2) for fuck's sake.

Lastly; I'm happy to host casual to everyone coming to the SW tournament after the tourney is done. I guess we'll need a 2nd TV and people will have to get food wherever because I'm not buying any but everyone is welcome over.

With K groove you can use pretty much anyone because no matter how crappy a character is, you can JD and retaliate. Some characters suck in K. IMO: Kim and Guile are crap in K.

So I get about 3 hours sleep today because I was playing dominos last night and thought I'd hang online rather than go to bed. Then of course I get up early because I never sleep in on a tournament date and you have a recipe for sleeping disaster. Anyway I hit Shoppers World and find Kevin & Gerjay already there. Kevin beasts on the both of us in 3rd Strike with Akuma & Q and then I return the favour in Super Turbo using OG Sagat. That character is so fucking dirty it's not even funny.

I get the shock of a lifetime has KAM SHOWS UP! WHAT... THE... FUCK?! I haven't seen this man in so long as he's been retired for the better part of a year (did he even enter T4?). Tony's car arrives ridiculously late and we finally get shit off the ground.

MARVEL VS CAPCOM 2

Vs Matt (1st Round): I don't even know why I bother sometimes. I managed to beat Matt in casual earlier so obviously it means I need to play him in the tournament. I can't recall the team but I know Sentinel was in there and he destroyed me two straight games with him.

Vs James (2nd Round - Losers Bracket): James takes War Machine/IM/Sentinel and that was a mistake as I take him to town in the first game for taking such a ridiculous team. Second game he uses Rowtron v1 and destroys me. Third game was good back and forth but I fell apart near the end and he took it.

3RD STRIKE

Vs Rey (1st Round): He uses Yun and I'm horrible versus Yun. First game I get rushed down for free. Second game I made the comeback and stunted the rush. Third game we split the first two matches and I just manage to miss a throw and take a sweep for the loss.

Vs Gerjay (2nd Round - Losers Bracket): I forfeight as I was taping CvS2.

Vs Jaime (1st Round): He uses Geese/Ken/Sagat (I think). I could tell Jaime learned a fair bit from his games at ORBIT as he was far more patient and didn't make dumb mistakes. Basically it was even shit until I got Kim and used a bait out double super in the first game to take it. Second game was back and forth again but this time I used C.U.R.T. when I needed it and squeaked out the victory.

Vs Tyler (2nd Round): I was looking forward to this match as Tyler has pretty much been owning me in casual for the last couple of weeks at SW and EMTC but nothing to the point where I thought "I can't win this." First game was insanity. Crazy back and forth with lots of momentum changes. I had the lead as time was winding down and he gets in a throw with literally 1 second left. Second game was the same, back and forth and it comes down to the wire but I manage to keep him away for the time out victory. Third game was anti climactic as Tyler destroys me with turtle Rock and I have no clue what to do. I try to mount something but it falls apart.

Vs Tony (3rd Round - Losers Bracket): This is the match I will never underestimate again. First game I took Tony far too lightly and he abused the hell out of me. Second game I got my shit together, put Vega in the back (I don't know why I put Kim in the back anymore) and kept control the whole way though it was still relatively close. Third game was nuts. Back and forth again with him taking a lead and then Vega making the miracle comeback as I hit his R2 Bison with three air throws in a row and try to finish with Claw Super but it floats over his head and I get thrown for the loss. Can't say I was too happy with that result as I figured I'd lose to the winner of Matt vs Rey.

Everyone left SW and is now at my house so I'll finish this up later...

Everyone just left. Console tournaments were pretty fun even though I got destroyed in both of them. CvS2 sort of stalled when everyone went for the billionth McDonalds run and I stopped running it when I lost to Steve. Bryan won MvC2, going over Gerjay in two sets I think.

Best part of the night had to be Maiwand's fucked up story about getting a ticket for Jay Walking. The best is how he just knows that the other guy that got a ticket was Somalian (WTF did he get that shit from?) and that he got the ticket because he's Chinese like the next man who got one. Ho... ly... shit that was jokes. I was nearly in tears laughing.

My dad walks downstairs when everyone is gone and says "you have the loudest friends I've ever come across. But at least they leave at a decent hour." The cleanup wasn't too bad this time around thanks mainly to Teddy who stepped up out of nowhere and helped me out when everyone else was still playing. I guess he knows what it's like to have a mess when it's all said and done. Much thanks Teddy.

Yeah your RC Lighting Kick Combo is really coming along. A little more work and you'll have it down to the point where I'll be scared every time I see RC Lighting Kick.

I hope my stick is able to help Tyrell with his parrying practice. That guy would be a genuine force to be reckoned with at T5 if he gets his parrying down as well on stick as he is on pad.

Yeah I know, I don't get it. He even throws in an extra strong depending how deep his combo is. I can't do it consistently at all. Right now all I can do is cross up lk - c.lp - s.lp xx Uppercut Move and even that I have trouble with.

LOW POINT OF THE TOURNAMENT: Didn't qualify for CvS2 Top 16

LINE OF THE TOURNAMENT: "Hey Justin, pussy" "What?" "You know... pussy" "O... K" "God forget it. Shu fell for it." (Anant tries to pull a scam and now that we're no longer there I can tell you I've heard that joke... many times... since I was in High School... SUCKER!)

FRIIIIIIDAAAAAAY

I was up early as usual before a big tournament (despite the tournies not starting until that night anyway) and did some last minute admin prep (went to the copier for extra brackets, batteries for my camera, tapes for the camcorder, etc...) before heading out to ORBIT around 1:00pm. I walk into ORBIT and see Alpha 3 (YEAH!) in the cabinet where Hyper SF used to be (NOOOOOO!) so a quick search of the place reveals no HSF and I have my first freak out. "Where's Simon?" I ask the girl who doesn't know and is of little help. Alright so I'll just play A3 for a while. Hmm... why is this in Event Mode? FUCK! OK OK this can't be too bad. I ask the girl "why is the new game in Event Mode" and get "Simon come in and switch the machine you want." OOOOOHHHH FUCK! So basically all the T5 machines were switched to Event Mode seven hours before anyone was even there, thus pissing off hoards of people who were politely told by the girl at the desk "I don't know, talk to that guy over there." WELL THAT'S JUST FUCKING GREAT!

BUT WAIT... IT GETS BETTER! I made two simple requests of ORBIT with literally two months notice: Give me two extra CvS2 machines and one extra 3S machine. Well... WE GOT NOTHING! I got an email from Simon saying "sorry, we couldn't install the extra CvS2 machine." Well that obviously isn't going to fly or we'd be playing right now instead of me writing this log. Simon comes in around 5:00pm and I might as well have glued myself to his ass because I followed him relentlessly telling him that he's got to find a way to get the extra CvS2 cabinet or we're fucked. So after about an hour of talking he breaks down and pulls a power supply from someplace (apparently the York CvS2 board was incompatable with the power supplies in the other ORBIT cabs) and installs the second cabinet (making sure to bitch at me for the extra work he had to go through and ignoring the fact if he wasn't so damned last minute this could have been avoided).

So I ride out the storm and basically rape people silly in Marvel until Ultra Random Black Guy and Razor show up and I play them for a little while (lost 2 - 1 to both of them IIRC). I watched Berkly Brian go head to head with Antoine in some sick matches in 3S and eventually people start rolling in.

Gerjay was good enough to loan me his laptop for registration purposes and it was a Godsend (until Saturday, more on that later). Registration runs relatively smooth as I only had to yell once with my trademark "LISTEN UP! BLAH BLAH FUCKING BLAH!" HEY LOOK IT'S MONTREAL! Gerjay and I have a talk about how Arcade Kid looks completely different every time you see him (anyone from ECC9 will remember grungy Alex with white towel turban). Everyone signs up and HOLY SHIT SIXTEEN TEAMS FOR CvS2! Matt gets punked off by Roger and comes back to Gerjay and I asking to join up with us (despite punking us weeks earlier). Shu can't make his mind up between Gerjay and I or Team Al Qaida so we take Matt on and we're set to go.

CAPCOM VS SNK 2 TEAM TOURNAMENT

Vs Team Montreal Elites (1st Round): The team consists of Temujin/Flowcus/???. We run with Kim/Blanka/Sagat(2). First match I run shit with C.U.R.T. and leave Gerjay to clean up. Second match is a lot more even and we lost it by a hair. Third match I build another big lead and we hold it down for the victory.

Vs Team 813 (2nd Round): The team consists of Ian and Wing. First match was ugly as Ian locked me down pretty badly. Gerjay made the comeback but Matt couldn't quite get it done. Second match was a lot of the same with me switching to Vega but this time Matt pulled it out. Third match I shredded Ian badly and then took 1/2 of Wing's Nako. Gerjay and Matt clean it up with a problem.

Vs Team K Groove (Winners Semi Finals): The team consists of XXL/FreddyLoco/Roger. I'm pretty sure all three of us though this was the match we'd be sent to losers. WRONG! I use C.U.R.T and dismantle XXL and Freddy. Gerjay and Matt get it done against Roger. Second match is like the first match but Roger made the OCC. Third match was nothing like the others. XXL took me out and Gerjay burns through him and Freddy. Roger takes him down and then Matt goes toe to toe with Roger and gets the victory. HUGE UPSET! I LOVE IT!

Vs Team Scrub (Winners Finals): The team consists of Prez/Gordon/Jonstar. WHAT THE FUCK ARE WE DOING HERE?! I played like a piece of shit in this whole series. Prez owned me up horribly and it turned into the Gerjay and Matt try to salvage my shitty play but don't quite make it. Rinse and repeat three times and that's that.

Vs Team K GRoove (Losers Finals): Awww geez, these guys again? This set was FUCKING SICK! I can't remember all the details (it's fine matches, come on) but I know that we were up 2 - 1 and then Roger pulled his usual Sagat madness and we lost the clinching match by a hair. Last match was back and forth but we ran out of time in the final round and that ended our night. This set is noteworthy for FreddyLoco busting out his K Cammy and making just about everyone his bitch. Crazy rushdown.

So we get third place. I can't really comlain about that at all.

Marvel team tourney was a bit anti climactic with Issac just DESTROYING EVERYONE! That Magneto should be banned due to the mental trauma is places on his victims. I have the Grand Finals on my camcorder but Issac has the rest so I'll have to wait for the footage.

3rd Strike Team Tournament didn't end until 3:30am and I'M DYING TO SEE ALL OF IT! Ben's got the footage on his camcorder and HE'S GONE TO JAPAN FOR SIX WEEKS! FUCK!

Considering the Team Tournaments are on two different people's camcorders, it also means that the T5 DVD won't be released for at least six weeks because I won't release it without the team tournament footage. I'll just construct the rest and let it sit on the backburner though I will put together the trailer with the footage that I do have on my own camcorder.

So I wake up and get breakfast with my mom. "So Justin, what are you up to today?" "Tournament" "BUT YOU WERE THERE YESTERDAY!" "Yep..." "WHY IS IT TWO DAYS?" "Three days" "WHAT?" "Yep..." so we argue for a while and then I get my shit together and leave. "See ya" to which my dad says "Good luck" "WHY ARE YOU ENCOURAG..." *Justin closes front door* the drive seemed faster this time around (I think it gets easier every trip you make from Brampton to Markham). I get to ORBIT to find Teddy and Hayvren taking on Fob Guy. Hayvren and I have a talk about his complete lack of sleep (as per usual) and discuss "Advanced Issac Tactics" which basically consist of Hayvren getting Issac drunk off his two bottles of wine and hten hoping he'd have enough of a chance of beating him in casual (not even tourney, just casual). ORBIT is pretty much empty so of course I know today will be a long one.

I play CvS2 for a couple of hours, losing 2 - 0 in a 2/3 casual to Teddy (he beasted on Team Mobility and B Team, which makes it even harder for me to understand why he didn't join the tourney) and then I say "fuck it" and take my real team and shred people for a six or seven game win streak before losing to Poke Guy. HEY LOOK IT'S GERJAY!

I set up the laptop and then have a freak out when I have the wireless base but not the wireless mouse. The first thought in my head was that I didn't pack the mouse the night before and now I'm going to have to pay for a new wireless mouse. Kevin asks Gerjay what's up and he says "oh yeah I forgot." *whew* so I have to use the keyboard mouse, which is complete and total shit. The registration trickles in as I'm already an hour overdue on CvS2 registration. WHERE IS EVERYBODY?! 2:30pm rolls around and THE FLOODGATES OPEN! HOLY SHIT! I get swarmed with people wanting to join every tournament on the list (except Alpha 3, but I'll cover that later). Everything looks good and then I NEARLY HAVE A HEART ATTACK! I try to use the sort function to put all the CvS2 players in order to make constructing the pools easier. It sorted like I asked but the other games didn't move to adjust so everyone was aligned with games they didn't join (the games were sorted by name primarily). OH MY GOD! THIS IS A DISASTER! I spend at least 1/2 hour having a freak out and then I use the failsafe. I had everyone sign a hard copy book so ORBIT would know who let into UN. So I erase all the games, MikeC and Kevin come to my rescue making sure everyone signed the book that didn't on the first go and then we re-construct the brackets from the ground up. THANK YOU KEVIN AND MIKE! THANK YOU SO MUCH! Also huge thanks to Arcade Kid who collected money for me in the later stages while I was making the pools. So after much distress and being late THREE HOURS we start CvS2.

I run the first four pools with the help of XXL (much thanks man) and then they shut down for Unlimited Night. We go through total hell as they gave us a specific amount of discounted tickets and of course people who didn't join tournaments somehow ended up with coupons thus leaving the true entrants SOL. I get extra coupons and still people got shafted. GOD DAMN IT! Anyway I head to Wendy's with Gerjay, Shu and Anant to finally eat something. Anant gets owned up waiting for his chicken strips while the woman in front of him (how'd she get in front of him if we were all in line together?) bitches about her wrong change. We have a few laughs (see Anant's stupid pussy joke in the first post) and I eat so many fries and we're set to go again. We get back to Pacific Mall and I get owned up horribly by this SLOOOOOOW driver, prompting Shu to yell "BAIT OUT!" and piss me right off. Then we're walking up and I make a comment that Rey looks just like Ron from the back. Then "Rey" turns around and IT'S RON! OH SHIT! I don't think I could have looked like any more of an ass. We all have a laugh outside for a while and just chill outside while everyone files in. Aaaaaand we're back...

CAPCOM VS SNK 2 QUALIFYING POOL

Vs Jaime: This was a solid match. Jaime played a very patient game and it was back and forth for a while until the later half. he still has issues fighting my Vega and it fell apart.

Vs Danny: I know Danny can't play on these sticks anywhere near the level he's capable of. That being said he still made a lot of dumb mistakes that bad stick or not would have cost him the match. I ran this pretty easy.

Vs Ian: Ah the nemesis. I obviously booked this on purpose. As per usual, this was another back and forth match with Ian getting the upper hand during the R2 vs R2 and I lose. I'm pretty sure this was my last shot at him. Brutal...

Vs The Cate: I came within a pixel of a Vega OCV.

Vs Lars: This was the X Factor match. I had never played Lars and truth be told I didn't even know what groove he used until he chose P and I knew it was trouble. He totally steamrolls Guile and Kim because I'm stupid and try to low poke him like a P Groove rookie who hasn't faced Marvin hundreds of times and should know better. Anyway I'm staring down the barrel of an OCV and HEEEEEERE COMES VEGA! Blanka gone. whoever was second gone. It's down to Cammy and I've got about 20% health. I get random as fuck and drain his health. We're both at 5%, I try a walk up throw, he techs and gets in s.hp xx Cannon Drill for the win. SOOOOOO CLOSE!

At 3 - 2 I didn't have the points to qualify so my CvS2 quest was over.

The pools keep going for another few hours and it's a fun time. Pool F had so much drama it was scary. James plays spoiler for Flowcus and beats him, thus setting up a three way tie with Noodleman (who pulled the SICKEST COMEBACK on Jimmy), Jimmy and Flowcus. Then Noodleman beats both and gets into the Sweet Sixteen.

I tape GGXX Top 4 (solid matches but nothing too special) and watch a lot of 3S. Then I look around for the A3 players and THEY'RE ALREADY PLAYING LOSERS FINALS! WHAT THE FUCK?! I tape whatever I can (Kevin, you were supposed to say something to me about Final Four in A3) and we have to finish the finals tomorrow. It's 2:00am so that's the end of Day 2.

HIGHLIGHTS:

Flowcus keeps playing casual during the tournament. STOP PLAYING WILL! :mad:

The Montreal Cheer Squad vs The Sauga Cheer Squad during MvC2 Finals. :cool:

Random Rey and I talking about hot girls out prioritizing taping GGXX Finals. :lol:

Alpha 3 Losers and Grand Finals (1st set) were all FUCKING SICK! :eek:

Watching people play the DJ Spin game. I laughed so much. :D

Christ I really wanted this tournament to be over. You know when you wake up knowing you have to say... go to work? Yeah that's basically how I felt about running tournaments for a third day. At least there was no registration this time around. I spend 1/2 hour worrying about my car as it was making a funny noise on the ride home from ORBIT the night before but I'm guessing it was either the road (probably considering the noise isn't back) or my car will just die or explode or something horrible sometime soon when I least expect it.

I told everyone to show up by 1:00pm so of course that doesn't happen. I get to run a few CvS2 matches in the tournament but then we're basically sitting for like two hours. I did get a chance to play Rene and beat him 2 - 0 (he wasn't using his real team though, which really bugs me because I wanted to get a feel for if I could take him or not). It's made even more shitty because I didn't have time to play our $50 Race to 5 because I had to get home and watch SummerSlam. I played Prez as well and that didn't go well. FUCKING ROLENTO! I HATE YOU SOOOOOO MUCH! Finally Marvin, Wing, and Kin show up (why I didn't just DQ them I'll never know) and we run the tournament.

Most of the tourney matches were pretty sick. FreddyLoco vs Arcade Kid was CRAAAAAAZY INTENSE! Marvin vs Prez also had insanity with Marvin pulling a miracle comeback with R2 Chun Li but just falling short. Ian BEASTED on Veasna in their opening round match after losing the first game and then never using his R2 and taking the next two games. Of course then we have the Grand Finals between Roger and Veasna, which many go down as the greatest finals I have ever watched live (I watched the set on my camcorder last night and it's still great but doesn't have that blood racing feel of watching it the first time). Both Montreal and GTASF were loud as hell cheering on their respective guys. That'll definitely be one of the big moments I will never forget when thinking of T5.

By some miracle, Nelson calls Jay and says that he's coming to ORBIT so I didn't have to stick around and tape 3S Final Five (it was supposed to be Elite 8 but Ben ran more matches than he was supposed to). I head outside and everyone is just chillin and yapping about Geese doing stupid shit. I thought Wing was going to lose his temper on Watson because he apparently farted on Wing (what is it with Wing getting owned up by big guys? First James Paige and now Watson). I say my goodbyes to the US players and to Montreal and head home to watch SummerSlam.

HIGHLIGHTS:

FreddyLoco looked like he was about to kill someone after losing to Wing. :eek:

Kin comes within an eyelash of putting Marvin out of CvS2. :confused:

Hearing the story of Ultra Random Black Guy invading Montreal's Hotel Room. :lol:

Grand Finals... CvS2. Nuff said. :cool:

The feeling of content when I didn't have to call any more matches. :)

I was initially going to say that I'm walking away from competitive SF altogether but we all know that never pans out for anyone, it just puts off the inevitable. As such, I will say that I'm going to take the Gerjay approach. I'm going to hit major stuff (M3, ECC10, T6, etc... if any of them actually get off the ground) and play casually with whomever is around once in a blue moon.

This was a long time coming for me. T5 was a truly draining (mentally at first and physically during the actual tournament) experience and it made me realize that I just want to enjoy myself, not run around for 10 - 12 hours at a time while losing my voice (which I barely have at the time of this writing). Tournament directing is far more trouble than it's worth and with the exception of those few people that have the base courtesy to actually say thank you for all the hard work put into tournaments, the job is pretty much thankless and empty when it's all said and done.

On a related note, while I will probably enter CvS2 if I hit any majors, I am also stepping away from that game outside of playing Noodleman because he rejects anything else. T5 showed me that I've come a long way in terms of skill but it will never be the level I want it to be, especially with life being so busy I don't have the time to practice the tricks and learn the characters necessary to take it to the next level and win consistently in tournaments. As such, I am going to play (limited as it may be) 3S, MvC2 and GGXX from this point forward. Considering how my time will shrink from my more practice filled days, I doubt I'll get any better in any of those games but at least it will be different.

I was going to do a big thank you to certain people for their contributions to my enjoyment of SF over the last 2 and 1/2 years but I know that I'd leave people out. As such, I'm going a different route. Here is my list of the moments that I will always remember fondly when thinking about playing SF and CvS2 specifically over the last couple years. Note I'll try to put these in order but I doubt it'll pan out. Anyone reading this that wants to add great moments feel free:

Beating Team Sugar 7 - 0 on my first trip up to Skybox.

My first Unlimited Night spending hours trying to stop Jon/Jay/Barry's CvS2 win streak.

The first time Jay parried Kim's Level 3 Rush Super

My first tournament at VF where Montreal and Detroit came. Peaced out.

"Where are you from?" "Brampton" "What's a Brampton?" (FUCK YOU KIN)

Always make sure to avoid the noon hour glare on CvS2 at BCC.

Chris Liu throws Eric's prize money on the floor in frustration.

The Doritos incident at T3.

My Kim sensei Clayton showing me The Kim Infinite at T3.

Sham is small enough to sit comfortably between cabinets at T3.

The feud of my CvS2 career is born as I lost to Ian in a tournament for the first time while he's suffering with a broken right hand to boot.

FuzzyPickle pisses me off for weeks only to be revealed as Peter.

BCC witnesses Alex do the Sakura CC for the first time and jaws drop.

"The Guy with the scarf" eventually becomes my greatest rival in Noodleman.

The loudest CvS2 cabinet ever debuts at M2.

I come third in ST at M2 based completely on being an old man.

A tradition is born as Jason has casual on Christmas Eve.

Shu & Anant get owned by Jason's aunt buying Pizza on Christmas Eve.

2002 ends with my undefeated streak against James intact.

The C.U.R.T. System is created out of sheer luck trying to avoid Sagat jump ins.

The first and only Khaos Tournament.

The first BCC Tournament complete with "What happened? I was watching Virtua Tennis and then you died." That is easily the best line Eric's ever had.

Shu's Shower Adventures Volumes 1 & 2 ("Fun with Teddy" and "Enter The Master")

The bitterness of the fat quarter guy at BCC. "I have got a raise in FOUR YEARS! FOUR YEARS!"

BCC gets 3rd Strike. I continue to suck at it.

"LET'S GO BABY! FUCK!" (ask Teddy if you don't understand)

Buying rounds at the 3rd Strike bar with Jiggabry.

Placing 5th at the first ever METRO tournament.

The first of many bets Eric would lose against me takes place at METRO when he bets I can't beat Tony in the first round.

Witnessing "The Dragon Combo" for the first time at the 2nd METRO Tournament.

Watching Byron get stared down by a four year old who had probably never seen a brown guy in his lifetime at Pacific Mall.

"Are you kidding? Seal Hunters make like eighty thousand dollars a year." "Wow, that's more money than educated people make" (Matt got in a great zinger on Pete with that one)

Winning MATCH OF THE MILLENIUM II vs Kin at T4.

Brampton is put on the map at T4 with three top 10 placings.

BCC closes it's doors and an era is lost to many players.

"OH SHIT! HE'S BLACK! I CAN WIN THIS!" (me getting hope in 3S after seeing that ChaChaMan wasn't Asian)

Byron is revealed to be a potential pedophile at the September 2003 ORBIT tournament. He is made fun of relentlessly to this day.

I second that. If it wasn't for you, Hamilton would still only have a CVS2 at EG. Now we got MVC2, SVC, Tekken Tag and Soul Cal. The fighting community of Hamilton owes you a great debt. On behalf of all of the Hamilton players and Team Hammer, Thank you.

Odd, when I stopped playing SF, I felt nothing. No feeling of any sort of conclusion, no finality, basically, just nothing. My random trips to Funland withstanding, I had basically stopped playing video games in lieu of just not having time. But Justin, having read your 'retirement' post, it suddenly all hit me. Right now, at this moment, I realise that I'm never going to get that rush of running to BCC on lunch, so I could face you, or Byron before anyone else could. I'll never feel that biting rage at falling for the same mistakes, time and again, or that swelling feeling of pride at finally adapting to your gameplay. A lot of people scoff at me for what most see as a child like mentality, enjoying video games so much, but I can't seem to express how much fun it was being able to make friends and have a competitive relationship through street fighter. I can honestly say that i really cherish the memories of us Brampton players getting together to head off to EMTC or any other tournament. Just the comradery and feeling of closeness, no matter how rediculous it may seem, but the bond we shared from simply playing video games. I dunno, even with some of my closest friends, its not the same. Its too bad I didn't realise how much all of this meant to me before, I would have tried harder to come to more of the casuals. But now, I really don't want our friendships to die down . . . I've even got some ideas of ways things can still go on without much disruption to our normal lives. Hmm, maybe I'm simply in a very melancholic mood, or its the Hesse I've been reading, but in any case, this really does sadden me. Anyways, hopefully, I'll see you guys soon,
I really don't think I could have put this any better myself. I don't know how the friendships for the other SF "Teams" were built but Team BCC and later Team Brampton were built from the ground up. None of us knew each other and the friendships were forged through sheer respect for the other players and the eventual common ground that everyone else sucked and it'd be insane to lose to anyone that wasn't Pete/Jason/Byron/Justin (and maybe Gandhi). It hit me personally pretty hard when you (Pete) left for school but it wasn't the end of the world because when it's all said and done, we can still make that extra effort to see each other. It really shook me though when Byron moved to Calgary. I knew when I dropped Byron at his aunt's place that Friday afternoon that not only would it be the last time I see him but it would be the final nail in the coffin of Team BCC/Team Brampton and in our local scene. The only thing left was T5, which I had already committed to, and would see to the end but I knew it'd be over after that. It actually hurts inside when I think of casuals and all that other great stuff and realize my friends (and you guys in Team BCC are my friends, not just game buddies) were no longer around to have fun with. Hopefully in time this shitty feeling will pass. As we talked about on MSN Pete, I am interested in this "evolved SF" essentially fusing our juvenile habits with our adult ones. It's all about effort by this point.

I really miss Byron...
